Lotions/ Creams -Palmers - cocoa butter body gloss
rated 1 of 5

The cream was a good consistency and I feel neither one way nor the other about the iridescence but I hated the fact it wouldn't rub in and left great white streaks everywhere unless you put some serious effort in. I also loathed the smell to the point of throwing the tube away.

Lotions/ Creams -Nivea - Skin Firming Lotion
rated 4 of 5

I didn't mind the smell. It didn't smell in the least natural but at least it wasn't sweet or cloying and it didn't last once it was on skin. I didn't notice any firming but it was a perfectly good body lotion for the very reasonable price. It wasn't too thin or greasy.

Skincare - Body -The Body Shop - Olive Dry Oil Mist
rated 4 of 5
135792468 7/13/2009 5:37:00 AM

I'm not very experienced with oils so I used this when my skin felt particularly dry and it seemed to work reasonably well without being too greasy. I like the green, slightly floral smell which is nothing like olives or even olive trees. My bottle was plastic unlike the reviews below and it seemed to turn a little after a year so I would use it up quickly.

Lotions/ Creams -Aveda - Replenishing Body Lotion
rated 2 of 5
135792468 7/13/2009 5:32:00 AM

I got this unscented and they added the scent of my choice. I loved that part and I loved the scent I chose which was lovely and strong in the finished article. Unfortunately I didn't love the lotion which I found too thin and it just sat on top of my skin without sinking in. I wouldn't mind so much if it was cheap but it isn't.

Lotions/ Creams -Jo Malone - Lime Basil and Mandarin Body lotion
rated 2 of 5
135792468 7/13/2009 5:26:00 AM

This is very true to the scent of the cologne which I happen to like but I don't like the lotion for several reasons. It's watery and doesn't rub in well. It leaves a greasy sheen. That's why the sales assistants use it when they give you hand and arm massages. If you're using it as a massage lotion, it's great. But it doesn't work as a lotion for everyday use. The packaging looks pretty but it's impossible to get the last bits out of the bottle. And as a final negative, it's criminally expensive.

Lotions/ Creams -Bliss Labs - Lemon & Sage Body Butter
rated 2 of 5
135792468 7/13/2009 5:23:00 AM

I like the sour green lemon smell but overall I just expect more from Bliss, especially given the cost. This cream doesn't rub in easily or moisturise particularly well and leaves a greasy residue and it's really hard to get the last bits out of the tube.

Lotions/ Creams -Neal's Yard - Frankincense Toning Body Cream
rated 2 of 5
135792468 7/13/2009 5:06:00 AM

I like the blue glass packaging and the ethos of Neal's Yard generally but I found this cream to be very difficult to rub in and not all that moisturising. The smell is very strong even after application and probably not to everyone's tastes as it is a little medicinal so make sure you try before you buy. I didn't notice any particular toning benefits but I wasn't really expecting to.

Lotions/ Creams -The Body Shop - Passionfruit Body Butter
rated 1 of 5
135792468 7/13/2009 5:02:00 AM

I thought the tartness of passion fruit might make this bearable but I was wrong. I'm not a big fan of fruity smells other than citrus and this is really strong. However the texture is excellent and it does a good job of moisturising without having to work too hard to rub it in.

Lotions/ Creams -The Body Shop - Body Butter - Cocoa Butter

While I love the texture of this, the smell is just too chocolatey for me. It makes me feel a bit ill. But then I'm not a big fan of gourmand smells so it's my own fault for getting it. I think the Body Shop body butters are a bit overpriced but luckily they are often on sale or at 2 for 1 offers.

Lotions/ Creams -The Body Shop - Olive Body Butter
rated 4 of 5
135792468 7/13/2009 4:54:00 AM

This is by far my favourite of the Body Shop body butters so far. It has a subtle and interesting smell that doesn't smell like a teenager and the thick cream sinks in well without being sticky and greasy. I'm not a big fan of the plastic packaging though I guess it's practical. I would repurchase but I want to try the Moringa version first.

Lotions/ Creams -L'Occitane - Ruban d'Orange Soft Skin Milk
rated 4 of 5
135792468 7/13/2009 4:49:00 AM

I really liked this. Despite being called a milk, I would say it was more of a lotion. It's certainly a thin consistency but it's not runny. The smell is lovely sunny orange but somehow without smelling like you just swam in a vat of Tropicana. I don't like the rather tacky plastic squeezy bottle packaging and it's not cheap. I would repurchase if it was paraben free but it isn't.

Candles -Unlisted Brand - Arran Aromatics Herb Garden candle
rated 1 of 5
135792468 7/13/2009 4:30:00 AM

This candle comes in a large colourless glass jar with white frosted markings. I'm not sure what size it is but it's larger than the standard Diptyque size. The wax is pure white and it burns cleanly and evenly though it does smoke quite a lot when it is extinguished. The main problem is that the smell is so faint as to be barely noticeable and what you can smell just isn't very exciting. It's sort of a light shampoo smell rather than anything herby or particularly green. Back to high end candles I go...

Fragrances -L'Occitane - Honey & Lemon (Miel et Citron) [DISCONTINUED]
rated 1 of 5
135792468 6/18/2009 10:58:00 AM

This should be nice. I like honey. I like lemon. I like Angela Flanders' Melissa which is honey and lemon combined with astonishing sillage and lasting power and which smells natural. I don't like this. It's fake, plasticky and overwhelmingly strong.

Candles -Miller Harris - Coeur de Fleur candle
rated 2 of 5
135792468 6/17/2009 11:46:00 AM

This candle has a pretty fresh floral fragrance which is slightly less sweet than the corresponding perfume. The burn is clean and even and the packaging the typical Miller Harris black etchings which are lovely. However the sillage is quite disappointing so I won't repurchase. It isn't nearly as good as the best in the range I have tried so far (Feuilles de Tabac and Fleur Oriental with Terre de Bois also very good). I still have L'Air de Rien to test and I haven't tried Citron Citron, Figue Amere or Noix de Tubereuse.

Candles -Unlisted Brand - Eskandar Ginger Blossom candle
rated 1 of 5
135792468 6/5/2009 2:59:00 PM

I have nothing much to say about this. It looks perfectly nice (white wax, thin rounded glass container). It burns perfectly cleanly. It's not too expensive. It just doesn't smell of much. EDIT: I have downgraded this as I can smell it now but I really don't like what it smells of. It smells aquatic.
