Cleansers -Paula's Choice - Skin Recovery Cleanser

This is an OK cleanser for dry skin. It works better than Cetaphil, which I loathe, but not much. It is fragrance-free, which is a plus, but not worth the price and hassle of ordering.

This blush is nearly mistake-proof--it goes on easily and beautifully, and both the pink and apricot colors look wonderful on my cool-toned skin. It really leaves a natural, satiny glow on the skin. Amazing stuff!

Ugh! That diaper-cream smell! Really did nothing favorable for my hair. For the $$$, try Aesop's Rose Hair Masque, K-M's Intensive Hair Treatment, or B&B's Deeeep Conditioner for MUCH better results--and better scents.

Masky, difficult to apply, and causes breakouts. Three strikes--you're out!!

Sweet, cloying, and overpowering. I wore it only once--thank goodness I tried a sample first.

Vaseline. I really can't understand the hype for this product. I'll stick with Nuxe, Prada, or Lip Smackers!

I was totally underwhelmed by this product. I fought my lemming for years before giving in, and I was sorry I did. I found it difficult to apply (even with a damp sponge) and I still needed powder on my t-zone--even with my dry skin! Definitely a try-before-you-buy product.

I'm on my fifth or sixth jar of this--need I say I love it? Perfect for my desert-winter-dry skin, and the scent is scrumptious!

Lipstick -MAC - Frost Lipstick in O

Didn't work for me--too warm. I looked like a corpse with shimmry brown lips. If you want a similar color that is cooler and lighter, try Ramy Beauty Therapy's "Buh-Bye"--a berry color with copper shimmer. Unique and beautiful.

Ugh! Breakout city! I have dry skin, and this made my skin drier and added breakouts. A big skip-it for me.

Treatments -Clinique - Total Turnaround Visible Skin Renewer

After two weeks of using this daily, I broke out in whiteheads all over my face--not a pretty sight. It worked really well for exfoliation, though, so if your skin can tolerate it, it's a great product.

Blush -NARS - Ninotchka

I'm medium-light skinned (not a PPP) with strong yellow undertones and can't believe this looks good on me. There's a color undertone--sort of a rosey shade--that makes this brown blush wearable. Great for either a natural or sophisticated look.

Lipstick -BeneFit Cosmetics - Cowgirls Lip Creme [DISCONTINUED]

I have Back in the Saddle (neutral mauve-brown) and Don't Fence Me In (a gorgeous brownish-red with gold shimmer that looks very warm but wears neutral) and I love them. They are easy on the lips (not drying), have incredible staying power (theough a workout and a quart of water), and are truly wearable neutrals. Two thumbs up, if you don't mind the fact that it must be applied with brush or fingers.

Scrubs -Prada - Exfoliating Mask for the Face
rated 2 of 5
MaryEllen 1/5/2002 12:39:00 AM

This mask has rice bran, BHA, honey, and clay in it, and is meant for oily/blemished skin. You apply it to a clean, damp face, massage to exfoliate with the rice bran, and leave on for 5 minutes. This is a *very* granular mask (the pieces of rice bran are irregularly-shaped and rather large), so care is needed when massaging it on the skin. It feels great on, didn't dry my skin out too much, and gave me a real glow. I won't repurchase, though, because (1) I have dry skin and (2) the price. It is a fantastic mask for oilier skins, though. Of course, it comes in the signature Prada unit-dose packaging.

Lips -Models Prefer - Stay-True Natural Lipstick and Gloss
rated 3 of 5

This duo comes in "Suede," which is supposed to be a universal color but is a warm brown with a shimmery gloss, which didn't work on me. However, the packaging is very clever (it's a tube [like a toothpaste tube] with a screw off top; the applicator is a brush. This goes on easily, feels wonderful on the lips, and lasts quite a long time--I'm very disappointed that the color didn't work on me, but maybe warm-toned girls will want to snap this up.
