Blush -NARS - Orgasm Blush

An oh-so-beautiful peachy gold on a slightly tan face. Very natural, but enhancing -- what makeup must be to fans of the "natural beauty" look (and really, who among us doesn't like to look like we were born flawless?). Also lasts forever, even with everyday use -- I've had it for 18 months and I'm not even seeing the bottom of the tray yet. Really mimics that post-coitus glow...here's wishing you multiples.

Treatments -Philosophy - Save the Nails [DISCONTINUED]

Swiped this on across my nails one day in Sephora, walked around the mall and later noticed that my nails looked really fantastic. Went back and picked up a jar as an impulse buy, and it's perfect. All you need for the natural nail look (so hot right now) is to file and buff, then massage in a small amount of this stuff. Great stuff.

Toners -Kiehls - Rosewater facial freshening toner
carinnemj 7/8/2003 2:13:00 PM
I like it a lot. Does a nice job of removing leftover cleanser and makeup, doesn't overdry and I'm noticing fewer blemishes than since I started using it. The petals in the bottle are a really nice touch. This is not particularly different from the other Kiehls rosewater toners.

Styling Products -Kiehls - Creme with Silk Groom

This is too thick for my thin, straight hair, though it works absolute wonders on my roommate's thick, curly hair -- she always comes into my room begging for the stuff, I'll probably end up giving it to her. I can use it sparingly to smooth flyaways on a ponytail in the winter, but it's far too heavy to use more than a little and never in the summertime. I love Kiehl's products in theory but this wasn't ideal for me.

Lip Treatments -Kiehls - Lip Balm #1

Somehow I've accumulated 3 tubes and 2 pots of this stuff...no matter, I'll go through all of it in time. Best lip balm I've ever found, non-addictive (i.e. doesn't dry out lips the more you apply like Blistex, though clearly I'm addicted to purchasing the product), great base for lip colors. I'll admit that I'm considering betraying my beloved to check out Rosebud, but this will always be Ol' Faithful.

Cleansers -Purpose - Gentle Cleansing Wash

My dermatologist gave me a few samples of this two years ago and I haven't used another cleanser since, with good reason. Nothing else has ever worked for my schizo flaky-but-cystic-acne-prone skin. Cleanses without drying, does a great job removing eye makeup without stinging. Probably will be using this for the rest of my life.

Lip Gloss -Clinique - Glosswear-color is 01-Honeybee

Okay for a caramel gloss, but steer clear if you're fair skinned. A little goopy. I'm superpale in the winter and it looks phony and wooden, though it's not bad layered over nude lipstick when/if you have a tan or darker skin.

Lotions/ Creams -Jergens - Soft Shimmer Skin Radiance Moisturizer [DISCONTINUED]
carinnemj 7/8/2003 1:54:00 PM
The lotion itself is nothing to brag about, but the shimmer is nice on tan shoulders, if not in the least bit subtle. Really adheres to skin -- went for a swim and still sparkled when I got out of the water. If you don't mind people telling you you're glittering like a 14 year old at a Britney concert, go for it.

Liquid -Laura Mercier - Laura Mercier Oil Free Foundation
carinnemj 7/8/2003 1:47:00 PM
God I love this stuff. Everything you've read in the hype is utterly true -- it looks as good after work as when you smoothed it on in the morning. All my post-acne imperfections vanish under it, skin looks better in all lights (even fluorescent!) and I haven't broken out once since I started using it. Never going back to inferior products, though I'm not sure how long 1 oz. is going to last with everyday use.

Lotions/ Creams -Laura Mercier - Creme Brulee Body Souffle
carinnemj 7/8/2003 1:43:00 PM
Beautiful, lingering scent -- sugary but not overpowering -- that lasts 8+ hours and keeps skin soft, smooth and glowing. Nothing is more indulgent than slathering this on post-bath. I've been wearing it all summer and love the subtle gold highlights it leaves on my skin (visible only in direct sunlight, not garish like Jergens) but can't wait for the winter to enjoy hydrated skin in a harsh Massachusetts climate. Worth every one of its 5,500 pennies (as Laura Mercier products tend to be).
