Cleansers -Carley's Clear & Smooth - Soap
rated 5 of 5

Love the Carley's line. It has helped make my skin the clearest it has been since before puberty. I still get "breakouts" every now and then from hormones and stress but I remind myself now when I see myself complaining about one or two zits what it USED to be like... still haven't adopted using this soap all over my body but I keep one in the shower in a soap dish that sticks to the wall with holes to drain water and this thing lasts darn near forever!!! Way to go Carley's!!! Fresh, subtle herb scent. Washes clean. Adore it.

Lipstick -Clinique - Almost Lipstick - Bronze Lilac
rated 4 of 5
skruger 10/25/2006 1:03:00 PM

I love this product. And am thrilled to see this shade still around. I originally recieved this as a Christmas present from an aunt when I was probably around 14 and thought too young to wear "real lipstick" well guess what? I still, at 24 don't like wearing "real lipstick" and am much more of a gloss and go girl! The color of this is amazing, looks a bit dark but goes on ever so closly to my natural lip color with just a hint of tint. Not overdone at all, I get compliments all of the time when I wear this - especially if I pair a sheer gloss over it. Texture is lovely. Price, compared to what I would normally pay for a lip product is a bit much but not ridiculous. Lasts for quite awhile. I have repurchased and will continue to do so. Great job Clinique! EDIT: Boo, I just realized that this has been discontinued... farewell bronze lilac!!! I shall miss thee!

Eye Shadow -L'Oreal - Holographic in Sand Castle
rated 4 of 5
skruger 10/18/2006 8:49:00 AM

I purchased this about a year and a half ago when the first came out. The first L'Oreal eyeshadow that I have purchased- I have been very pleased overall and will be sad when it is gone because I really do like the color. I use this with various other shades- from browns to pinks to oranges and that is what creates the "holographic" effect for me. It is a nice neutral color with a bit of "pop"- haven't used it wet yet but after reading that in a review on here I'll have to give it a try. My only complaint is that the lid came off of the pan and hinge broke and the center clear part (of the lid) cracked so it has cheap packaging but again I have been pleased overall and WOULD purchase again- IF I could find it... mine is almost gone :(.

Fragrances -Victoria's Secret - Breathless
rated 5 of 5
skruger 10/5/2006 9:16:00 AM

Throughly crushed as I recently learned that VS is discontinuing this scent... it is my "signature scent"!!!! :( Nice everyday scent that can carry into evening. I use it as a "warm weather" scent as it is not heavy or musky. If you need a similar replacment check out Avon's "Exotic Beaches" although the staying power isn't as good, it is MUCH cheaper... guess pretty soon I won't have a choice! Breathless is currently listed at a decent price in the clearance catalouge.

Lip Gloss -Bath and Body Works - Tutti Dolci - Angel food cake
rated 3 of 5

So-so.... nothing special. The smell is yummy but is gone almost immedietly. Nice texture... smooth but not too sticky for a gloss. Pretty much no color which was disapointing, looks pretty in the package.

Skincare - Body -mark - The Body Squad Bacne Acne Treatment [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
skruger 10/3/2006 4:25:00 PM

On probably my thrid bottle of the stuff and have another in "stock" I hope they don't stop making this stuff and I hope it doesn't stop working on me!!! After some mild "bacne" and my back and buns (especially after working out no matter how quickly I showered) I decided to give this a whirl (about a year ago) and really like this product. My only complaint is that when the bottle is about half gone (until gone) it doesn't spray upside down and the back is a rather hard place to spray! Anyway it really helps keep new acne from forming, if I skip a couple days I can tell... I'll get a couple then start using this again and they go away. The smell is rather caustic so I would make sure to leave a bathroom door open when you use this. I let it air dry as I am getting ready after a shower then apply lotion as normal and go. Works great.

Lip Gloss -mark - Bee Pouty Voluptuous Lip Plumper
rated 3 of 5
skruger 10/3/2006 4:20:00 PM

Works great as a clear gloss to use alone or over a color. Doesn't "plump" my lips in the least but works for a general use gloss. I took a lippie off because after being in my purse for awhile, the screen printing on the tube has worn off (happens) and another because it doesn't plump as claimed but I am overall happy and would purchase again (if available) for a clear gloss.

Lip Treatments -Joey New York - Super Duper Lips
rated 5 of 5

Wow... I can't believe all of the negative reviews about this stuff- my roomie bought this the other day and gave it a shot and we did notice a differance on her (granted, not much but what do you expect for something that comes from a tube???) so I tried this last night and HAD to write my own review- I really like this stuff, as does my roomie! She is an estethican and had heard good things about this product but was hesitant to drop $20 on something she hadn't tried until she found this on sale for like $10!!! All we did was follow the simple directions... slather a bit of the goo from the tube (light, plesant sent) on and just outside your top and bottom lip, wait 2 minutes then lightly rub in for about 2 minutes... wipe off w/ tissue of warm water then apply liner (we also put on a bit of chapstick afterwards). Lips were noticably fuller on both of us, not DRASTIC but again- comes from a tube- I had to stop myself from laughing when I asked "Do my lips look plump?" :) because what it FEELS like is that you are pouting your lips when you aren't doing anything too them - she agreed that is the same sensation she had. I told her if she goes back to the store she got it at, to pick me up a kit. I agree that the liner is really neutral and goes on nicely. I don't care what others said, this stuff worked for me and I WOULD buy it again- AND recommend trying it.

Lotions/ Creams -mark - Hollywood Pink Body Lotion
rated 5 of 5

Received the lotion with the perfume (set) and it really helps the perfumes staying power, lotion absorbs nicely and leaves skin soft and lightly scented. A nice quality lotion. Smells just like the perfume.

Fragrances -mark - Hollywood Pink Flamingo
rated 3 of 5
skruger 9/1/2006 2:53:00 PM

I was waiting for this item to come back around in the Mark. magaloges and purchased the (regular) Hollywood Pink set and was very pleased with that scent (see other review). I was a little disapointed in this however. It just smells too girly and fruity for me. my boyfriend however, prefers this one to the "regular." Scent with this doesn't last very long. I think Mark. has much better scents than this one and I wouldn't purchase this particular scent again.

Fragrances -mark - Hollywood Pink Perfume [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5
skruger 9/1/2006 2:49:00 PM

I was hesitant to buy this as I was originally interested in getting the Hollywood Pink Flamingo but then I saw this + lotion set in an Avon outlet book and decided to purchase and boy, am I glad I did!!! I have a lot (too many...) perfumes and this is one of my new favorites!!! While the trend in perfumes right now may be slipping from "foody" to "musky" this one does have a subtle musk smell to it... I smell amber and citrus. It is a nice "evening" or fall/winter perfume but so far, I have been wearing it every chance I get. I think it has decent staying power, price is great, bottle is pretty cute. Hope they keep this one going, I would buy again (once I use up some of my others... :)

Blush -BeneFit Cosmetics - Benetint
rated 4 of 5
skruger 9/1/2006 9:23:00 AM

My previous room-mate worked at a Marshall Field’s makeup counter for BeneFit for awhile and would have oodles of products from them. I used this once and decided I needed some for myself, I was a little surprised when she rang up the price because I hadn't even asked about the cost and wasn't expecting it to be so much- not terribly bad, just more than I typically spend on a blush... I was impressed though on how evenly this goes on as long as you apply a little at a time and do only one cheek at a time (when it starts to dry while blending "the other cheek" you may end up with streaks. Was adventurous and pleasantly surprised when I used it on my lips, for my warm/tanned/fair skin it looked very natural. After awhile, I tightened the cap too tightly and the cap was then not able to screw on properly. My room-mate got an exchange for me but after being jumbled around in my makeup basket after awhile, the label is now coming off. The packaging could use a little work and I wouldn't trust it in a bag while traveling (due to its liquid form) but a great product overall.

Eye Shadow -Cover Girl - Eye Enhancers - Mink
rated 4 of 5
skruger 9/1/2006 9:10:00 AM

I have been purchasing this color from CG since middle school!!! Love the neutral color, blends well with warm or cool tones on my skin. Is a great basic shimmer beige. Works well as a "day time" color. Price is very good, can find it at pharmacies and grocery stores, hope they continue making this one!

Lip Treatments -Palmers - Cocoa Butter Stick
rated 4 of 5
skruger 8/31/2006 4:15:00 PM

I used to buy this all of the time in high school after an artsy friend intdroduced me to the product, we used to call it the "glue stick". I'd say it's a bit too heavy to use under lipstick but I still use this before going to bed at night to keep my lips moisturized. Have found it at Wal-Mart, CVS and Meijer although it can be tough to locate. I've thrown some in gift bags before too because it is a great, long lasting product to have around. If you have one in a purse/bag for awhile, the sticker around the tube tends to begin to peel.

Palettes -mark - Glam a go go
rated 3 of 5
skruger 8/31/2006 4:10:00 PM

While I am very pleased with 3/4 shadows, I do not care for the bright pink blushes and the lip glosses were so-so. Actually, due to the vivid colors in the blushes, I was able to tote this little thing along and use it as stage makeup for a recent play I was in (if that gives you an idea of their "brightness"). The packaging is cheap (while compactness is convenient) but I really can't gripe, I got this for a great deal while I was (breifly) an Avon rep and the white, pink and purple shadows were worth it. I also like the mirror in the lid. Have purchased much better products from Mark. but not bad overall.
