Lip Treatments -Carmex - EZ-ON APPLICATOR
desertrose08 10/6/2009 2:45:00 AM
So when I read comments of people talking about the smell/taste of carmex, I disregarded them, simply because I'm not really picky when it comes to the flavor of lip products...but no joke, this stuff actually tastes like soap. Like after I apply this stuff, if I accidentally lick my lips or if I eat or drink anything it's actually as though I just licked a soap bar. Yes, it's very moisturizing, but I can only put it on before I go to bed, because I can't put it on during the day just because I won't be able to eat or drink for hours after I apply it.

Lip Treatments -Yes To Carrots - lip butter
desertrose08 7/5/2009 10:52:00 PM
So I'd been hearing good things about Yes To Carrots and how it was paraben free and good for you so I bought the lip butter because I'm always on the search for an HG lip balm for my permanently dry lips. Yeah....this is definitely not my HG. First of all it hardly hydrates your lips and the little hydration it provides lasts for a grand total of like 30 minutes, if that. The only reason I gave this an extra lippie is because paraben free and all natural.

Treatments -Ojon - Restorative Hair Treatment
desertrose08 6/29/2009 8:06:00 PM
Unfortunately this product did not work with my hair - in fact it seemed to even dry out my hair. The smell as many have described is sort of like a combination of dirt and of something burnt. I wouldn't have minded the smell that much if I felt that this had made a difference in my hair, but sadly it didn't.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast
desertrose08 6/20/2009 4:20:00 AM
Ok so my former preferred mascara was L'Oreal Voluminous and I think my new preferred mascara is now Lash Blast. While Lash Blast might not be HG as it doesn't provide as much volume as I'd like, it provides clean definition and length which are great for daytime look. One of the things I didn't like about Voluminous was that it clumped easily and it was very very easy to get spidery lashes which I cannot stand. I've never had a mascara with a plastic wand but I can say that I'm having no troubles with application - I simply twirl the wand at the base of my lashes if I'm going for a more dramatic look or I just stroke up if I'm going for a natural look. Another thing I didn't like about Voluminous was how difficult removal was. Removal of Lash Blast (I have the nonwaterproof Lash Blast by the way) is really quite simple, all you need is some warm water and you're good to go.

Lip Treatments -Nivea - Lip Care Sun SPF 25
desertrose08 5/15/2009 8:03:00 PM
This product is absolutely DISGUSTING. I am so disappointed in Nivea for producing this as I have always been a fan of their lip products. First off this leaves your lips with an awful pale-purple cast that makes you look ill. Secondly it is not moisturizing whatsoever and thirdly it tastes funny. I only wish I went on makeupalley and checked this out before purchasing it....

Eye Shadow -MAC - Bare Canvas Paint
desertrose08 5/14/2009 1:59:00 AM
After purchasing MAC Paint Pot in Soft Ochre and using it as an eyeshadow base and having it crease on me every time, the SA recommended bare canvas paint to me. I rather like it as it provides a smooth base for my eyeshadow and prevents creasing for a good 8 hours or so. The only thing I HATE is the packaging as it is difficult to regulate the amount of product that comes out of the tube and once it's out of the tube, there's no way to put it back in. Oh and if I use more than a tiny bit, it will crease so I have to try my best to only get the smallest amount of product out of the tube.

Lotions/ Creams -The Body Shop - Hemp Hand Protector
desertrose08 5/14/2009 1:55:00 AM
I have extremely dry hands and this has been one of the very very few products that has actually made my hands feel smooth and supple. I just had to take off a lippie for the very strong scent which I find is rather awful as I'm not a fan of earthy smells. Some people said that the smell wears off quickly but I'm afraid in my case it lasted for as long as the product did. However, the scent aside, this is an amazing hand cream.

Fragrances -Escada - Magnetism
desertrose08 5/14/2009 1:49:00 AM
UPDATE: This has actually been my current HG perfume. It no longer seems too sweet to me like it did when I first got it. Almost every time I wear it I get compliments :) But just as I said before, go easy on application because a little goes a long way. Well if there's one thing that this perfume has, it's staying power. This stuff will last all day long. As for the scent itself, I find it to be slightly sharp and very very sweet. I like sweet smells, but more than two sprays of Magnetism is simply headache inducing. I do like the dry down though as the initial sharpness wears off and you are left with a warm, sweet smell. I can't say I'm a fan of the bottle as it's rather clunky and I am constantly worried it will tip over as the bottle is wide at the top and tapers to a rather narrow bottom.

Eye Shadow -Coastal Scents - 28 Neutral Palette
desertrose08 5/14/2009 12:19:00 AM
Ok so this product did and didn't live up to my expectations. The main pro is of course it's affordability. As for the quality, some of the shadows are extremely pigmented and have a lovely buttery texture while others are dreadfully chalky and don't show up at all. One of the main cons of this neutral palette is that many of the colors are near identical to each other. Don't get me wrong, I love neutral eyeshadows but I feel that many of the colors are far too similar to each other for one to be able to tell the difference between them. Overall even if some of the colors are unusable due to the poor pigmentation, this palette is still a very good deal.

Moisturizers -Marcelle - Aquarelle Aqua-Matte Hydrating Fluid
desertrose08 5/12/2009 4:52:00 PM
I really like this product as a base under my makeup. As a moisturizer, it could definitely be more moisturizing but as a makeup primer, it's excellent as it's lightweight and provides enough moisture to prevent my makeup from looking cakey. For serious hydration for my skin I use Nivea Creme. If this product had spf in it and was slightly more hydrating, it'd be perfect. I've been using it for two weeks and so far no break outs and I have seriously sensitive skin.

Makeup Brushes -MAC - #217 Blending
desertrose08 5/8/2009 1:39:00 AM
Ok, I just want to say that I am not one to spend $30 on a brush, but despite that I do not regret purchasing this brush and adore it from the bottom of my heart. Before the 217, I could not get rid of the harsh lines that I got from applying eyeshadow in the crease with a flat shader brush. Now, my eyeshadow looks flawless (if I do say so myself lol). But what I also love about the 217 is its versatility - you can use it for an allover wash of color, to apply shadow in the crease, to blend, to contour...I can't really say anything that everyone else hasn't said, but let me tell you this - you will not regret purchasing this brush.

Lip Gloss -Clinique - Full Potential Lips Plump and Shine gloss in Glamour-full
desertrose08 5/4/2009 9:57:00 PM
Although the color of this lipgloss is quite pretty (a subtle mauve-pink), I'm afraid the formula is much too thick and sticky. I also can't say I noticed any plumping effects. Won't be repurchasing.

Lip Gloss -Nivea - Nivea Lipcare Caregloss and Shine
desertrose08 5/4/2009 4:11:00 PM
Wow. This is pretty much one of the best lipglosses I've ever tried, and I've tried a fair number. I bought this in the red shade and it gives my lips a subtle red tint and a pretty sheen. Nonsticky and very moisturizing. I honestly have nothing bad to say about it.

Moisturizers -Clinique - Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel
desertrose08 4/27/2009 11:08:00 PM
So I bought this because I wanted a lightweight moisturizer and since I have super sensitive skin, I figured Clinique was the way to go, right? NOT. This made my forehead break out into tiny little bumps and I never break out there so I knew that DDMG was to blame.

Powder -L'Oreal - Bare Naturale Powdered Mineral Foundation
desertrose08 4/27/2009 7:44:00 PM
Eww....first of all this product accentuated my dry spots. Second of all I had to pack it on layer upon layer for it to provide any form of coverage, and of course I ended up looking horrible cakey. Third of all, whatever coverage I managed to get out of it upon application, seemed to fade within a few hours at max. And lastly.....it broke me out into horrible, painful, huge doubleheader zits.
