Treatments -Philosophy - Turbo Booster C Powder
SkinnyCow 8/27/2008 6:42:00 PM
I saw this in a magazine a while back, and HAD to have it. This is a vitamin C powder you add to your current moisturizer, which is what I liked about it,, I don't need anymore - I need to use up what I have. Its 99.8 high potency topical vitamin C powder and supposed to brighten and even your skin tone and protect from environmental stuff, etc.... I LOVE IT. I have a bunch of Clarins GWP moisturizers, and this works well with all of them, it works with Pat Wexler, and oddly it seems to work best with the Hope in a Jar spf 20 they gave me as a sample. I have noticed a difference in my skin, it looks brighter / more even. It is a bit tingly when you put it on, which I like. I feel my skin is so 'jaded' by everything it never 'tingles' anymore, but this stuff does that, and it makes me think its 'working'. It makes some of the 'meh' moisturizers work so much better, and I am using them all up instead of hunting around for more. The jar is .25 oz they give you a teeny tiny scoop to get it out, you are to use a full or 1/2 scoop and based on the size of that scoop and the bottle, this could last quite a while, I think maybe 6 months. You use it once a day. It is $35 and I think it is worth it. I really like it.

Mascara -Clinique - high definition lashes
SkinnyCow 10/6/2007 2:08:00 PM
I am a big fan of the mascara's where the wand is a comb. It provides the most dramatic results. I got this as a GWP, and the wand has a comb and a brush in one, and its awesome. I really love it. The formula itself is fine. But the comb just delivers the best results. This stuff is easy to take off, which is a HUGE plus for me. No flaking, doesn't burn/irritate etc... LOVE EDIT : I am suprised at the poor reviews. I love the comb. I have no clumping/gooping or anything with this. I have long lashes, and I go for thickness, but this does both. I guess everyone is different, but I really like this mascara.

Mascara -Rimmel - LASH MAXXX Mascara Extreme Black
SkinnyCow 9/24/2007 4:16:00 PM
I agree with Katy24. This didn't do anything. NADA. Usually I will just use something I don't like to finish it, or almost finish, this is so bad, I just tossed it. It doesn't do anything. I am a fan of every Rimmel mascara I've tried - my favorite is volum'eyes. I like the mascara's with the comb applicator, but this one was comb-ish, and it was just very blah.

Primer/ Corrector -MAC - Prep + Prime Face Protect SPF 50
SkinnyCow 9/14/2007 4:05:00 PM
I have been wearing make up for 26 years. And this is the BEST product I have ever used. Period. I actually don't think I could handle it if it was ever discontinued. This makes my make up look so perfect every day. It makes even the cheapest foundation look good. I have a few foundations I have 'shelved' because I didn't like how they wore during the day. I can use anything now. I was never able to make my NARS multiples or Stila convertable colors STAY on my face for more than like 10 minutes, this stuff makes everything last and look perfect ALL DAY. My skin is not oily, I consider it dry to combo. I have been reading a lot of reviews on here and on the MU board, and I read you can put moisturizer on underneath, and I have done that, actually the Clarins oil I love, and it does NOT impact this product at all, oiliness does NOT break through. I have already purchased a back up as I used too much each time with my first tube, you do not need a lot of product. I think it has improved the condition/texture of my skin. When I am not wearing make up, it looks so much better. Smaller pores... its just crazy. I play golf a lot, and this sunscreen is so fantastic. NOTHING is getting thru this. Its great. I haven't tried to take a picture with it, so I haven't experienced the 'white face'. I frankly do not care. I am so SO in love with this product, the single best make up purchase I've made in my LIFE - I can't say enough how great it is.

Lipstick -MAC - Fresh Moroccan Lipstick
SkinnyCow 7/7/2007 1:59:00 PM
This is probably my favorite MAC l/s right now, its either this or Double Shot. Its just the most perfect red, with gold specks. Its not TOO red that you feel you have to be so careful putting it on. It looks great if I am tan in the summer, or more pale in the winter. It wears down nice too, which is what I think I like the most. A nice reddish stain, the gold flecks don't get all clumped up, its not drying, not gritty. Its really very nice.

Powder -Bare Escentuals - Bare Minerals ALL
SkinnyCow 12/3/2006 11:59:00 AM
Would I buy this again ? I am not 100% sure right now. I just bought the starter kit w/the Sephora discount, I've been wanting to try this forever. I am 38, my skin is dry/combo. I usually use Sephora supernatural airbrushed canvas mineral foundation, Kevyn Aucoin SSE, sometimes tinted moisturizer. I don't need heavy coverage, but I guess that is what I am used to, this BE stuff does not look like you have anything on, so whether or not you like this is all personal preference. I don't see any of the 'glow' 'flawless finish' that I've always read about. Its nice, its sheer, I'm sure its buildable, I don't know. But I will say this, it can be drying. Which if you have oily skin, this is probably a life saver. I sometimes wear some pretty heavy face creams during the day, or a heavy face cream AND sunscreen and most foundations don't do well with that, and I have to wait quite a while after putting that on before I can start foundation application, not with this stuff. For that reason, I really like it, for the ability to 'custom blend' a color based on whether you're kind of tan, or more pale, that is very nice. The brushes provided in the kit are nice, mineral veil seems ok, I haven't tried warmth yet, but I am a little 'underwhelmed' by this, after reading all the hype. I'll keep using and see what happens.

Treatments -Clarins - Blue Orchid Face Treatment Oil
SkinnyCow 7/31/2006 6:59:00 PM
I love this oil. I don't like to only wear it at night, I wear it during the day. My skin feels so much softer / smoother since I've been using it. I have dry/combo skin - sometimes a little oily in summer. I don't break out much. This stuff is so great. I've been using it for about 2 weeks now. It makes my skin feel so soft / smooth. I put it on in the morning, and put Clarins UV protective day screen spf 40 over it. Its a nice combo. Clarins products have been really working for my skin. The oil is light, soaks in quickly. It smells like Aveda products to me, like their shampure stuff.

Cleansers -Olay - Daily Facials Express - All Skin Types
SkinnyCow 7/16/2006 11:51:00 AM
I wanted the sensitive skin formula, but the 'all skin types' seems ok. I tried pre moistened wipes when they first came out, Ponds I think. And they burned. I stayed away, I have used neutrogena's that you have to use water, and some other brands. They are ok. I like these a lot. I use a mascara that is hard to remove, and this actually does take it off. It takes off everything with minimal tugging/scrubbing. I do rinse my face after just because I am weird like that, but you probably don't have to. The most important thing about this product, is it doesn't burn. Doesn't burn my skin or eyes. This is great for night time when I am lazy and great for travelling. I highly recommend this product.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Pigment in Naked
SkinnyCow 6/4/2006 10:21:00 AM
This is my favorite pigment. I am often at a loss for an all over wash. And this one I really like. My daughter bought it, and I took some from her. Its a beautiful shimmery nude. I really love it. I love all the pigments in general, but this is the most versatile.

Gels/Soaps -LUSH - Rock Star
SkinnyCow 3/16/2006 8:29:00 PM
This is my favorite Lush soap. Only for the fragrance. I love the sweet sugary synthetic whatever it is. I wish they sold it as a lotion / body fragrance / Powder .. I would buy it all. I love to shower with this and put on B&BW warm vanilla sugar body spray afterwards, its a great combo. This is not for everyone, I can see how the sugary synthetic smell is not for everyone, but I love it. I love the creamy candy bath melt with this too/ and the bubble bar ! GAH !! I love it. The only downside to this product, is it melts too damn fast. Lush really needs to fix that, cuz this soap ain't cheap.

Gels/Soaps -LUSH - I should Coco Soap [DISCONTINUED]
SkinnyCow 3/16/2006 8:26:00 PM
I got this in a sweetie pack, pretty much just to get Rock Star and Honey I washed the kids soap. I had this in my closet for about a year before I used it. This is the LONGEST lasting Lush soap I've ever used. Rock Star is my fave and it melts so fast. I am so lame, in that I did not know why this was called ' I should coco', I thought it was cocoa butter, ( I never looked at the web site until after I started using it )but after using the soap about 2-3 times, the coconut texture started coming out, and this is by FAR, THE ABSOLUTE BEST exfoliating soap I have ever used EVER EVER EVER. Coconut is such a great exfoliant, mildy abrasive but some how so effective. This soap is so tightly packed with coconut, it really really gives your skin a good scrubbing. I love it. I have had mine in the shower for a while now, I use it once or twice a week. I will be buying this again. I love how it exfoliates and I love that it lasts SOOO LONG !!

Bronzers -Jane - Shimmer Bronzer--all shades
SkinnyCow 2/22/2006 4:15:00 PM
After reading the raves on the m/u board, I decided to try this. I have Fiji. I really didn't expect much, but this is very nice. I find this to be more pigmented than my BB bronze shimmer brick. The shimmer is just that, shimmer, not glitter, the color is nice. I put this on my cheeks lightly w/ a kabuki brush and it really showed up. I like the packaging, it has a flip top to access the color, and a flip top on the bottom with a little brush in it and a mirror. I would not use that brush, but its cute. I am very very impressed, no wonder MUA is raving about it.

Treatments -DDF - Wrinkle Relax
SkinnyCow 2/21/2006 7:29:00 PM
In my quest to get that great eye look where you put the champagne colored shadow/pencil in the very inner corner of your eye for that great 'glowy' look, I realized my eyelids are much crepier ( crepey - er ) than I thought. And frankly, I'm horrified. I have had wrinkle relax for a while, and used it on the outer wrinkles ( crows feet ). My wrinkles are not that pronounced, but I really don't need them getting worse. I did not notice any difference with this product. It doesn't burn, sting and has no scent, but I kind of shelved it because I couldn't tell what it did. I also used it on my forehead lines, and along the mouth,, nothing. When I discovered these fine wrinkles in the inner corner of my eye, underneath the eye.. I brought this out to try. Well, it plumped them up right quick. Who knows why it workes on those, and not the other, maybe because they aren't as deep. So this is back out now.. we'll see how this goes. I will write an update in about 2-3 weeks to see if I see anymore improvement. I put that I would not buy this again, because for the price, I think it should do a lot more than it does. But while I have it, if I can get it to work like I've been, then fine.

Styling Products -Jonathan - Dirt
SkinnyCow 2/10/2006 7:56:00 PM
I am completely fascinated and impressed by this product. Fascinated by how it works, impressed that it even works at all. I use this on my hair, after I blow dry. I put some on my fingers and I rub it into my roots. And it volumizes like there is no tomorrow. And, I don't wash my hair every day ( every other day ) and the next day, it has even more volume. The jar says 'texturizer' which could be anything. I thought it would be like a paste or something. Its way more than that. I have very fine, thin, long wavy hair that I blow dry straight. I had purchased Aveda Control granules which are supposed to do ( I think ) what Dirt does. This is less expensive than Aveda and doesn't gunk up my hair. I had heard of Dirt years ago, before Jonathan was anything, before his TV show, and imagine the only place to get Dirt back then was to go to his salon, it sure wasn't on QVC and there was no Sephora. I have read bad reviews about his shampoos and stuff on MUA, and reviews on this product are even mixed. But I love this stuff. I've never used anything like it and I'm hooked. My hair looks awesome. *** update 2/21/06 - I use it on wet hair now at the roots,, WOW !!!!

Foundations -Sally Hansen - Fast and Flawless Airbrush foundation [DISCONTINUED]
SkinnyCow 1/23/2006 8:19:00 PM
Carmindy on WNTW made me buy this. I couldn't believe that this is pretty much what she consistently seems to use, so I figured it must be good. I bought a sample size of Beach Beige at ULTA, and I'm glad I did. WOW. Its nice. I am light complected in the winter, if I get a little tan, I just use liquid bronzer w/all my foundations. This has yellow undertones and is beautiful. I initially applied with a damp sponge. The cover is medium to high. I find it very buildable. I felt it makes my skin look very smooth/supple. I wouldn't say 'dewy' but its not dry and cakey. It does not sit in my pores or cake up. I used it today with a damp foundation brush like I usually do for liquid foundations, and its even better. I don't know if you could ever just spray this on your face and expect it to look nice. I spray it on the brush and blend blend blend. Its nice. Long lasting as well. The color does not turn on me either. I will say that I think this might not work in the summer, as it seems slightly, ever so slightly oily at the end of the day. Maybe its just me, I usually wear mineral foundations and those are never oily.. I would recommend this and definitely buy it again. I am amazed that Sally Hansen could make such a nice high quality foundation.
