Lip Treatments -eos - Lip Balm Sphere - Summer Fruit
rated 2 of 5

My first dissapointment with this product came when I opened up my balm and the little sphere broke right in half! This left me with two halves flush with the plastic so that I had to apply with my finger. I'm not sure why this happened, I opened it right after buying so its not like it sat in a hot car or anything. Later I tried to dig out the top half and reassemble it. Didn't work. Then I took a tip from another reviewer and heated it for a few seconds in microwave and stuck it in fridge. I now have a mishapen ugly mound of product and the heat slightly discolored the the plastic. Moving on... My second complaint is the smell. Summerfruit sounded like a nice juicy flavor. Instead it actually smells like synthetic peach and past- its- prime passion fruit and yes, these ingredients combine to an odor slightly reminiscent of cat pee. It reminds me a bit of the garnier fruit fructise scent which I also personally dislike. I like that this product is organic but I didn't expect something organic to smell so fake. As for the moisturizing capabilities of the product, I did not find it to be drying or irritating as some reviewers did. It is not extremely moisturizing but it does seem to be helping protect against chapped lips. Its a thick waxy texture so I think it is decent at acting as a barrier. It sits on my lips and doesn't really sink in so I don't think it is going to do much to moisturize them but it protects against weather and traps what moisture I do have in. It actually is somewhat matte and gives my lips no shine so I wouldn't wear it any time I really want to look pretty with full shiny lips. Its so thick that I don't think it would work very well under lip color though I have not tried that yet. The taste is even worse than the scent. It has a bitter quality to it. The shape of the packaging is something I still would like if mine had not been defective. I'm always losing my lip balms and having to dig around in my bag for them and this one is easy to find and keep track of. The color and shape really appealed to me. I may at some point in the future try one of these out in a different flavor but will not repurchase summer fruit! Too bad, because the coral color really is the prettiest package in my opinion. The pastel ones remind me of some kind of femine hygiene package and I don't want to buy the bright yellow lemon one because I'm not a fan of lemon. EDIT This product makes a really nice cuticle and nail cream! Will purchase another scent for lips and use this one for nails

Lip Gloss -Bonne Bell - Dr. Pepper lipsmackers

This product has really grown on me. Find myself reaching for it all the time. It helps chapped lips and offers just enough color to brighten up my face but still be applicable without a mirror and tastes good.

Highlighters -BeneFit Cosmetics - High Beam

This is a pretty nice highlighter but due to the price I doubt I will purchase it again. It works with me when I am pale so its a good highlighter for fair skin. Nice and glowy on cheeks without being too glittery or shimmery. It does not work when I have a fake tan though. Its just too pale and pink and I can't blend it well enough for it to look good on tan skin. Something more golden would work better if you are not fair. Not crazy about the bottle. Have had a little less than a year and what is left is starting to dry up and I doubt I will be able to get it all out of the bottle. Its a nice product but going to look for something cheaper and something I can use when I'm not pale.

Bronzers -Revlon - PhotoReady Bronzer - 100 Bronzed & Chic
rated 3 of 5

I like matte bronzers and have been impressed with a lot of revlon products lately which is why I bought this. Its an ok product but I doubt I will repurchase it. The color looks a bit muddy on me and was a tad hard to blend. Sometimes I could get it to look fairly good and other times not. On darker skin it may look better. For me it was also not a great bronzer for contouring, a bit too warm. My biggest gripe though is that I purchased two of these at the same time I was so sure I would love this product and both of the bronzers broke into pieces when there was still 1/3rd of product left just from carrying around in my bag. I did like that there were different shades in one compact and that they were divided into large enough sections that I could use just one. Not a horrible product but I've used better.

Lotions/ Creams -Organix - Moroccan Argan Oil Creamy Oil Body Lotion
rated 5 of 5

Just bought this on sale at CVS and I really like it. The scent is hard to describe. It smells to me a little more complex than most drug store lotions, sort of like a floral perfume but with a slight citrus and spice note instead of powder which keeps it young. It appeals to me and its one of the reasons I purchased it but it is pretty fragrant so some might not care for it. Smells a lot like the conditioner of the same name. I bought it for the scent and because I like the cute packaging of Organix and that they don't test on animals. I was pleasantly surprised at how ungreasy this stuff is. With oils in it I expected to be a greasy mess but this stuff sinks in quickly. It gives a nice sheen and makes my skin feel smooth, almost like its been powdered. There is actually a tiny bit of shimmer but I have to look really close at my skin to see it and it doesn't scream "I rubbed on something sparkly". This would be a good lotion for summer. I will have to wait several days to find out just how moisturizing it is, but right now its looking like a nice light moisturizer. I hope they are not discontinuing it and that's not why it was on sale.

At first whiff this smelled ok. I actually thught I liked it enough to purchase a mini. However, this stuff is way too cloying and sweet. The first whiff is the only good one and after that it just makes me feel sick. When I smell it on other people its really overpowering and obnoxious. It sort of screams "I'm doused in cheap fragrance".

I tried this because I went on and then off of prednisone and the steroid messed up my hormones and caused hormonal acne. I tried drinking two to three strong cups a day. I think it may have helped the acne but it also made me feel really sick. Nauseous and intestinal issues as well as feeling really fatigued. So sick that as bad as I wanted my acne gone I stopped drinking it. I gave this a 2 instead of a 1 because i think it did something and maybe in some people in smalller doses it could be effective but I urge you to be careful when using this. It sounds like the most harmless thing in the world, but if you are drinking more than one strong cup of this a day it could potentially make you feel really, really awful. If you are trying to balance your hormones with it because of health issues I recommend doing it under a doctor's guidance.

Highlighters -Revlon - Highlighting Stick in Golden
rated 5 of 5

I like this. I have been looking for a highlighter for the inner corner of my eyes and this works nicely. I like it much better than the cream and liquid formulas because at the inner eye they tend to crease and move around too much. This also works on the brow bone for a really natural highlighter and is the perfect size to highlight down the middle of the nose and the bow of lip. Really subtle but nice and twists up so I don't have to sharpen it.

Liquid -L'Oreal - True Match Lumi Healthy Luminous Makeup

I thought this might be a good substitute for my bobbi brown skin light coverage foundation. It looked good when I applied it, not too heavy. It didn't wear that well but just basically wore away which is ok- better than oxidizing or being patchy BUT like a lot of others on here it broke me out. Forehead, chin, my skin is breaking out for first time in months after wearing this for a couple days. Its going back to store and I'm giving my foundation brush a thorough cleansing. Have a mask on now trying to get this stuff out of my pores.

Cute package but unlike a lot of others I'm not wild about this blush. It can be hard to blend and bit chalky looking and the color doesn't really make my face pop the way some blushes I have tried do. Its ok but nothing great, I've used drug store blushes I liked better.

BB Cream -Garnier - BB Cream Miracle Skin Perfector - Light/Medium
rated 1 of 5
Lydia07 8/20/2012 10:05:00 PM

This product is too greasy. When I apply powder over it it makes the powder uneven and blotchy because its so greasy and it also tends to slide around on my face during the day. Its sheer enough that I still need a concealar for any redder areas or undereye circles but I expected that. The smell is way too strong and it burns if it slides in my eyes which it does sometimes because of the greasiness. It sometimes oxidizezes to a bit too orange dependng on how long I wear it. It also causes me to get a couple pimples when I wear it. I won't purchase again. I expected it to sink into skin and feel light, not lay on skin and feel heavy.

Blush -Revlon - Photoready Cream Blush
rated 2 of 5
Lydia07 8/20/2012 9:49:00 PM

I bought the coral and peach shades of this blush. Both colors are really pretty and wearable. The coral looks best when I have some sunless tanner on and the peach is nice on my fair skin. I'm not crazy about the small shimmer bits in the peach, especially because since its a lighter shade I try to build it which leaves me too shimmery. That said, I really like the peach shade otherwise. The coral is really pigmented but blends easily. However, I won't buy this product again because the staying power is so low. It looks nice on for maybe two hours and then its like I never applied blush at all. EDIT; Took another lippie off because due to the fact that this stuff pulls a disappearing act on my face I now very rarely reach for it and regret the purchase

Lipstick -L'Oreal - Colour Riche Caresse Lipstick
rated 4 of 5
Lydia07 8/20/2012 1:53:00 PM

These lipsticks are treading that middle ground between a balm, stick and gloss but have more color than the l'oreal balms did. I bought the shades merino mauve and angora sunset. Merino Mauve is really just a very soft nude cool toned pink. Angora sunset is a pinky coral. I was hoping angora sunset would be similiar in shade to coral reef lipgloss by revlon but it is pinker on me and doesn't do as much for my complexion. It is like a more pigmented version of the l'oreal caring coral balm. The lipsticks both smell and even slightly taste like sherbet. The mauve lipstick seems oddly to be thinner and more silky on while the angora one is creamier. The mauve one sinks into lips and I really had to work to build color. The angora is fairly pigmented. Both feel moisturizing, have a tendency to cling to lines and chapped skin (though merino mauve is worse at this) and would likely wear off quickly though I haven't tested that yet. On paper they both sound really nice but in real life I'm kind of meh about them. Neither shade was very flattering on. The mauve is so sheer that to build it to what I want it starts to get a bit milky which drains my face of colour and makes my lips look small. May apply it over a neautral color and see if that helps. The angora is too pink for me. I love corals but they have to be a balance between too pink and too orange and this one just isn't that flattering on me and I thought made my teeth look a bit yellow. (It was wrong in the same way Revlons lip butter in Sweet Tart was wrong, hard to describe though) Could be it would look lovely on someone else. I plan to use it under a gloss. EDIT: I added another star cause with a fake tan I find the angora color to be more flattering on and because of the consistency being so wearable I have been reaching for it lately.

The color would be a very pretty coral red and it is very pigmented except for the gold glitter! This stuff is loaded with it and it just looks so unnatural when applied. I don't want disco ball cheeks!

Skincare - Face -Unlisted Brand - Turmeric
rated 3 of 5
Lydia07 6/6/2012 2:31:00 PM

I like this stuff but I also have some complaints. My face broke out recently due to having to take prednisone and then go off of it for a health issue. Purely hormonal. I used this during that time mixed into my cleanser, as a mask mixed with yogurt and as a spot treatment mixed only with water and dabbed on and left on. As a spot treatment with water it seemed to help. It didn't make my acne disappear or my face stop breaking out but it did seem to keep the smaller pimples that started coming from turning really big. Supposedly it is an anti-inflammatory and it did seem to make everything less red and puffy. I also read somewhere it has anibacterial properties which is nice for keeping the acne from spreading. I haven't tried a ton of products but asprin, tea tree oil, baking soda, toothpaste and drug store spot treatements all make my acne worse so Turmeric gets three stars cause it actually is effective. That said, I don't like the fact that due to the color of this I can't wear it during the day out of the house. I also don't like the temporary stains on my face and hands from applying it. It is messy to use and I have to worry about it staining. It dries and falls off my face which means I have to reapply. I have to worry about it getting on my pillow, clothes, etc. After using this for several days in the same area my face started feeling raw so you do have to make sure you don't overuse though I got plenty of warning before actually damaging skin. I tried this in a bath and besides staining my body it seemed to make my leg veins more prominant. No clue why but I didn't like that or my yellow bath tub. I have read that this product can inhibit hair growth. I don't know if you could use this on your face to cut down on facial hair or not or if you would have to leave it on so long your whole face would get stained yellow. I tried to avoid my eyebrows when I used it as a mask for this reason though. I also read it can fade a tan which some people might not like.
