Misc Beauty Tools -Ecotools - Lash & Brow Groomer
Indrawn 10/12/2009 6:11:00 AM
I got this in the 5 piece brush set, it's such a bargain as the price of the individual brushes added together cost much more! The set is $28 AUD while the lash/brow comb is $5. I love how Ecotools only uses materials that are environmentally friendly and how they donate 1% of all sales to environmental organisations! The brushes themselves are VERY high quality (much better than the crappy Manicure and Beauty Essentials for the same price). The bristles on the brow comb aren't very flexible but it's still soft and does the job. The lash comb is GREAT, it's just the right size to catch all of your lashes at once and the teeth are just thin enough and evenly spaced to run through your lashes smoothly. For once I can comb through my mascara without imprinting it all over my eyelid! However the tips of the teeth are pretty sharp and I've actually hurt my eye on more than one occasion. Keeping the same rating though. EDIT: I'm dropping a lippie because this isn't THE best lash comb out there. I find myself constantly stabbing my eyes because the teeth are much too sharp/jagged at the tips. EDIT: lol months later and I'm loving this brush again. Haven't experienced the above problem for a while so I'm upping this back to 5. Sometimes the mascara can get very caked up in the teeth making it impossible to comb through your lashes, you'll just have to get some soap and an old toothbrush and remove it. - - - PRICE [2] $5 AUD | PACKAGING [5] | REPURCHASE [yes]

Makeup Brushes -Ecotools - Bamboo 6 Piece Brush Set
Indrawn 10/12/2009 6:01:00 AM
[HQ BRUSH SET.] The 5 piece brush set is such a bargain as the price of the individual brushes added together cost much more! Plus for the same price ($28 AUD in Priceline) you can choose either the pouch or a little bamboo 'cup' (kind of like a pencil tin)! Of course I took the cup, it's adorable, sturdy and saves space. I love how everything is environmentally friendly and how Ecotools donates 1% of all sales to environmental organisations! The brushes themselves are VERY high quality (much better than the crappy Manicure and Beauty Essentials for the same price). I don't use all of them yet so I'll review them as I go. Again just let me stress again, how cheap and good quality these are!! :D - - - BLUSH BRUSH - SO so soft and fluffy! Seriously it's softer than my soft toys. It came a bit funny shaped in the packaging but that's okay. Although it doesn't pick up powder very well and it's hard to layer it on. Not sure if I'm using it wrong. EYE SHADING BRUSH - It's great! Soft but sturdy enough to apply and blend eyeshadow. I admit I'm an eyeshadow nub and don't know how to use the brush, but this works well enough for me. ANGLED EYELINER BRUSH - Again, soft and sturdy! Gives you very nice defined lines and for once I can get close enough to my lashline without being tickled. LASH & BROW GROOMER - The bristles on the brow comb aren't very flexible but it's still soft and does the job. The lash comb is GREAT, it's just the right size to catch all of your lashes at once and the teeth are just thin enough and evenly spaced to run through your lashes smoothly. However the tips of the teeth are pretty sharp and I've actually hurt my eye on more than one occasion. CONCEALER BRUSH - - - - PRICE [2] $28 AUD | PACKAGING [5] | REPURCHASE [yes]

Lip Liners -Prestige - Waterproof Lipliner
Indrawn 10/12/2009 5:34:00 AM
I am continually impressed by Prestige, all their products are fab! I already love their eyeliners and lipsticks. Priceline was having a buy a lipstick/lipgloss get a lipliner free, so I picked up a Waterproof Automatic in Raw Sugar, a very pretty shimmery light brown. It's very creamy and quite waterproof. The only problem I have is that the packaging is a complete bitch to remove, just like the eyeliners! EDIT: The one I got doesn't work, when I twist it it doesn't come out. It took it back to a different store and they opened 3 more until 1 finally worked. I don't know if it's just a bad batch but I suggest you open yours straight away to see if it works! Also the one I got doesn't seem to work as well as the tester I tried. So I'm taking a lippie off. - - - PRICE [3] $13 AUD | PACKAGING [1] | REPURCHASE [maybe/no]

Lipstick -Prestige - Lipstick (new packaging/formula)
Indrawn 10/12/2009 5:23:00 AM
I have had good experiences with other Prestige cosmetics (their eyeliners are HG material!) so I decided to try more of their products. They have quite a large lipstick range, the Classics are $16 AUD and come in a beautiful, professional looking silver tube. I thought the packaging was going to be hard to remove like the eyeliners and lipliners but it came off very easily. The colour shown on the bottom of the tube is quite accurate. My preferred lip colour is a very light pink. I have "Sophia", which is a pretty light pink with some shimmer (glitter particles). Looks good with dark smokey eyes. Also the lipsticks are quite moisturising but I put on a bit of lipbalm beforehand anyway (Nivea Pearl & Shine, since it is the exact same colour). "Cyber" is an even lighter shimmery pink, almost silver. Almost the same as Rimmel Lasting Finish in Candy (which I almost bought), just a bit lighter. I love this lipstick, it's creamy, moisturising and the colours are pretty and have just the right amount of shimmer. Priceline was having a buy a lipstick/lipgloss get a lipliner free, so I picked up a Waterproof Automatic in Raw Sugar, a pretty shimmery light brown. So far I'm loving Prestige! <3 EDIT: The lip colour doesn't last as long as I would like. It only lasts around 3 hours before my lips feel dry and I need to reapply. Doesn't last through a meal. I'd give this a 4.5 if I could. - - - PRICE [3] $16 AUD | PACKAGING [5] | REPURCHASE [yes]

Makeup Brushes -Unlisted Brand - Beauty Essentials - Eyeshadow Brush
Indrawn 10/12/2009 5:05:00 AM
This eyeshadow brush is rubbish, just like the other cheap brands from Priceline like Manicure. Yes the bristles are soft, but they are SO soft that they just BEND when you press them to your lids, making it impossible to pack on colour. I guess this is okay for applying a light wash of colour and blending out but overall this is useless. I just bought the Ecotools eyeshadow brush for the same price and it's so much better! - - - PRICE [2] $6.50 AUD | PACKAGING [3] | REPURCHASE [no]

Misc Beauty Tools -Unlisted Brand - Manicare - Eyebrow/Lash Groomer
Indrawn 10/12/2009 5:03:00 AM
I originally thought this comb was great until I bought the Ecotools lash/brow comb (GREAT quality and quite cheap btw, it's a steal!). In comparison, this Manicare comb is rubbish! The bristles for combing the brows are STIFF as, even when I press really hard they don't bend at all. I don't see how running a solid clump of plastic across your brows is going to do anything but hurt. The lash comb is quite useless because the teeth are too thick and close together. It's impossible to run your lashes THROUGH the teeth even without mascara on, let alone with. It defeats the whole purpose of getting a lash comb .. Also the brush head is too small, so that you can't run all your lashes through at once, you have to comb it in halves. And my mascara clumps a lot inbetween the teeth and it's annoying to clean. I have to use an old toothbrush and soap. I recommend you save your money and don't buy from Manicare, just get Ecotools. - - - PRICE [2] $5 AUD | PACKAGING [3] | REPURCHASE [no]

Eyeliner -Unlisted Brand - BYS - Eyeliner Pencil
Indrawn 10/12/2009 4:57:00 AM
With BYS you get what you pay for. These eyeliners are only $2-3 each but the quality is ridiculously poor compared to regular drugstore brands. * in BLACK: This is the only colour worth repurchasing. - comes out almost black, but quickly fades to grey - relatively smooth to apply - smudges like crazy I recommend you buy the Savvy pencil eyeliner instead for $5 if you're looking for a cheap, average liner. I have since found my HG eyeliner - Prestige Total Intensity, it lasts 6 hours on the waterline and costs $15. * in OTHER COLOURS: I bought hot pink and silver also, but they are literally USELESS. Never ever touch these. It was like using a real lead colour pencil on my skin. - colours does not show up AT ALL - hard to apply, hurts your skin - - - PRICE [1] $2+ AUD | PACKAGING [3] | REPURCHASE [no]

Eyeliner -Unlisted Brand - Savvy - Pencil Eyeliner - Black
Indrawn 10/12/2009 4:56:00 AM
* PROS - almost true black - creamy and soft, doesn't pull or tug - easily blended into a smokey eye look - cheap, $5 AUD * CONS - medium lasting power, it does smudge quite a bit and does not last on the waterline I find this almost EXACTLY the same as Rimmel Soft Kohl Kajal Eyeliner. It costs $5 AUD while Rimmel is $8.50. I put yes for repurchasing because you get what you pay for, but really it's a maybe - if only it didn't smudge so much! I have since found my HG eyeliner - Prestige Total Intensity, it lasts 6 hours on the waterline and costs $15. - - - PRICE [2] $5 AUD | PACKAGING [5] | REPURCHASE [maybe]

Concealers -Unlisted Brand - Artmatic - Cover Stick
Indrawn 10/12/2009 4:52:00 AM
This isn't the best quality concealer but it's the best for its price - $2 AUD, you can't beat that. Actually its quality is alright, quite creamy and blends in alright. I used to use it to cover all of my cheeks because I didn't have foundation lol! However if people are REALLY close to you then they can see that it doesn't blend 100% into your skin, on many occasions I have had people say "Oh, your skin looks really dry today." I agreed with them because I didn't want to tell them I was using a cheap concealer! Also there is VERY little difference between light medium and dark - in fact I bought both the light and dark and they look identical on my hand. All three are actually rather dark and I wonder why they even bothered to label them light/dark. So this works well with tan-ish skin. This works best if your skin is moisturised. If it's dry then it won't blend at all. The packaging quality isn't that great, the plastic lid cracks really easily. It doesn't actually break though so it's alright if you don't mind the cracks. It's quite a good deal so buy it if you're on a budget (and are tan)! - - - PRICE [2] $2 AUD | PACKAGING [2] | REPURCHASE [maybe]

Lip Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Forever Living Products - Aloe Lips Lipbalm
Indrawn 10/12/2009 4:46:00 AM
This is the best little lipbalm I've ever used - it's so moisturising yet never thick/heavy, and convenient to carry around. It comes out clear and gives your lips a healthy shine without looking overly glossy. I've used so many sticks of these over the years. I use it during the day and Vaseline at night. I'm quite sad because we can't buy these anymore (I *think* they don't sell them in stores, only through the company) and I've never found another lipbalm to replace it. Now I use the Nivea Lip Care range but it's not nearly as moisturising. - - - PRICE [3] | PACKAGING [4] | REPURCHASE [yes]

This is a great little concealer, it's creamy and easy to blend. I used to use it to cover all of my cheeks because I didn't have foundation lol! The formula is creamy and easy to blend. But if you use it on dry skin then it only makes you look more dry. It's a shame I ran out of it and forgot where I bought it. - - - PRICE [2] | PACKAGING [4] | REPURCHASE [maybe]

Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - Haven by Planet Earth - Finest Aromatic Lavender Face Cream
Indrawn 10/9/2009 9:21:00 AM
I actually really like this face cream, it is light yet moisturising and doesn't feel like anything on your skin once dry. I much prefer this over my other creams - Garnier (not moisturising enough) and Avon (too heavy). It's also got a nice lavender scent too. I use the Haven Rose Eye Cream along with this at night. - - - PRICE [3] | PACKAGING [5] | REPURCHASE [yes]

Lip Gloss -Elizabeth Arden - Shine pops in pink pop
Indrawn 10/9/2009 7:07:00 AM
My boyfriend gave this to me as a gift so I don't know how much it cost. It looked pretty expensive and even came in a cute little plastic bag with a black zip. The tube looks bright pink and very shimmery but on my lips it just gives a clear gloss, not very shimmery at all. It has a slight fruity taste which I don't really like because it tastes artificial (like most fruity lip products), but it doesn't really bother me. I don't know if it's just me but all the lipglosses I own, cheap or expensive, feel sticky. I had to mix this with a Nivea lipbalm for it to feel alright. I personally don't like the look or feel of lipglosses on me - I prefer a creamy lip balm or stick with actual colour, so I won't be repurchasing. - - - PRICE [5] | PACKAGING [4] | REPURCHASE [no]

Clothes -Unlisted Brand - Havaianas flip-flops
Indrawn 10/7/2009 8:04:00 AM
I have extremely sensitive feet and they do NOT tolerate Havaianas. The strap that goes between your first and second toe is very painful and I can barely walk down my driveway and back without limping in these. It's a shame because Havianas come in such pretty designs and colours and everyone seems to own a pair. Plus they're pretty expensive in my opinion, $20+ AUD. My friends got me a pair for my birthday and I have never worn them on a proper outing. The only thongs I can wear are the ones from Target. They cost only $7 AUD and I can wear them comfortably for the most part. - - - PRICE [4] $20+ AUD | PACKAGING [4] | REPURCHASE [no]

Moisturizers -Avon - Naturals Purifying Tea Tree and Grapefruit Face Cream
Indrawn 10/7/2009 7:52:00 AM
To me this feels too heavy and thick to be a face cream. Feels more like the Sorbolene I use on my legs. I only use it before I sleep because of this, it's too heavy to be used during the day and makes your skin feel slightly oily. I don't use it on my T-zone either, just my cheeks. I much prefer a light hydrating gel over a heavy cream for my face though - Avon Maximum Moisture Super Hydrating Gel is my favourite. Also this has a very strange smell. It doesn't seem very tea tree & grapefruit to me, that combination should smell very fresh and clearing. This smells heavy and foresty/organic, like pine cones or something! Overall it's an 'okay' moisturiser, not that great for the face because it is too heavy. I won't be repurchasing because there's better moisturisers out there. - - - PRICE [3] | PACKAGING [4] | REPURCHASE [no]
