Eye Shadow -E.L.F. - Eyeshadow Quad in Ivy
rated 2 of 5
valleychic 12/21/2008 3:10:00 PM

This eyeshadow quad contains a mint green shade, a dark green, an olive green and a chocolate brown. The 3 green shades are exact dupes of WNW Amazon Greens shadow trio. Unfortunately, I found the ELF quad in Ivy to be of inferior quality. Although when first applied the colors come on very vibrant, I found that these shades faded to nothing in a few hours even with a primer. I've noticed this with other ELF eyeshadow quads as well. For this reason, I will not buy these again.

Eye Shadow -E.L.F. - Non-Stop Eye Color -- Butternut
rated 2 of 5
valleychic 12/3/2008 8:59:00 PM

The two main problems I have with this quad are that it is extremely powdery and that the colors come off light and wear off quickly. This product is very chalky and powdery with a lot of fallout. I always use UDPP on my lids. When I first apply these colors, they look vibrant and pretty. As the day goes on, the color seems to disappear even with primer on. This does not happen with any of my other shadows. I will not buy this eyeshadow again.

Eye Shadow -L'Oreal - Concentrated Shadow Duo - Forgiving
rated 3 of 5
valleychic 11/28/2008 7:13:00 PM

L'Oreal HIP duo in Forgiving is made up of a shimmery teal color and a deep shimmery bronze brown. These duos have good pigmentation and nice color payoff. I like the deep brown shade the best. It is a great crease color. The teal is pretty. It is not as dark on as it looks in the pan. Since I really only use one shade, I would not buy this product again.

Palettes -Urban Decay - Urban Ammo Eye Palette
rated 4 of 5
valleychic 11/23/2008 2:40:00 PM

Urban Decay Ammo Palette holds 10 of Urban Decay's best selling eye shadows. They are paired in coordinating shades so that you can create 5 looks. The colors included are : Smog (shimmery taupe brown), Maui Wowie (gilded gold with glitter), Mildew (olive green), Shattered(turquoise blue), Oil Slick(black with glitter), Polyester Bride (off white with glitter), Last Call (deep lavender), Grifter (light lilac with glitter), Chopper(light brown with shimmer) and Sin (peachy champagne). Urban Decay eye shadows are very shimmery and some even have glitter. Overall, the staying power is good and the color payoff is very nice. Also, most UD shadows go on smoothly and are very blandable. However, some UD eye shadows are very chalky and powdery such as Polyester Bride which is an off white highlighter color with a lot of glitter and major fall out. Oil Slick is also difficult to work with because it does not blend as nicely and blendability is a must for a black eye shadow. In this palette, my favorite shades are Mildew, Smog, Last Call, Chopper and Sin (these two are neutral shades). The packaging is very pretty. It is a black cardboard case with velvet and foil Urban Decay elements on the lid. This is a nice palette if you are curious about UD eye shadows and want to try out a few shades. It retails for 34.00 at beauty.com or you can get it for $39.00 at the UD site and you will also get some Primer Potion included.

Eye Shadow -Cargo - Eye Shadow Palette Nantucket
rated 4 of 5
valleychic 11/15/2008 11:09:00 PM

This is the first Cargo eyeshadow product that I try. This palette is called Nantucket and it has 5 eyeshadows. As is customary with Cargo cosmetics, you get a nice amount of product. The shades in this palette are called mint green, navy blue, muted orange, peach champagne and deep taupe brown. All the shades are shimmery and their names describe them exactly. These colors come on very soft and subtle but you can build up the intensity and they blend beautifully. The champagne and taupe shades are your average neutrals. My absolute favorite shade in this palette is navy blue. It comes on softer than you'd expect making it very wearable. Muted Orange was a pleasant surprise. I do not normally go for orange eye shadow shades but I really like this one. It is a very pretty orangey copper. The packaging is a very sleek and sturdy clear plastic case. There is no mirror included. Nantucket retails for about $28.00.

Eye Shadow -Smashbox - Eyeshadow
rated 5 of 5
valleychic 11/13/2008 10:06:00 PM

I have two Smashbox eye shadow singles in Vibe and Taupe Two. Vibe is a shimmery peachy champagne color. Taupe Twos is a shimmery dark plum brown. I love these two shades because thye are very versatile. They work great to create a natural look for a daytime/work look but you can also create a lovely smokey look for evening with these two shades. Vibe also looks great as a simple wash of color all over the lid. Smashbox makes great eye shadows. They go on smoothly and are not chalky/powdery. The color payoff is excellent. I will absolutely continue purchase Smashbox shadows.

Lip Liners -Smashbox - Lip Pencil- Smashing Palm Beach
rated 5 of 5
valleychic 11/9/2008 8:50:00 PM

Palm Beach is a great neutral nude brown lipliner. As many have stated before, it works well with a variety of colors because it is so neutral. The consistency is creamy and smooth but not greasy. This is the typical lipliner that you have to sharpen. I will definately buy this liner again because it is one of my favorite nude liners. The other is Chanel Nude.

Lipstick -Smashbox - Lipstick
rated 3 of 5
valleychic 11/9/2008 7:28:00 PM

The color payoff of Smashbox lipsticks in very good and the color stays on longer than most brands. This is probably the reason why I find them drying to my lips but that can be remedied by using a lipbalm under or over the lipstick. Their color selection is very nice and the colors usually look better on than they do in the tube. Another plus is that these lipsticks do not have any scent. I still prefer my Holy Grail Revlon Super Lustrous lipsticks but these are definately worth a try.

Lip Gloss -Revlon - Super Lustrous Lipgloss in Raisin Glaze [DISCONTINUED]
rated 2 of 5
valleychic 10/30/2008 9:01:00 PM

I am hispanic with black hair, browns eyes and medium skintone. This ligloss is called Raisin Glaze. It is really a copper color with some goldish flecks in it. I really thought this would be more highly pigmented but it turned out to be very sheer. I rarely use it by itself. Usually I wear this gloss over my Avon Sienna lipstick. As far as the application goes, it applies evenly and it is not sticky. Also, I am not fond of the scent although it does fade. I don't think that I would buy this shade again.

Eye Shadow -Avon - Eight in One Eye Palette in Water Colors
rated 4 of 5
valleychic 10/30/2008 8:52:00 PM

I am hispanic with black hair, brown eyes and medium skintone. This is the 3rd of the Avon Eight in One Eye Palettes. It is called Water Colors and it is cool toned. The eight shades from L to R are: A light frosty pearly pink, a very pretty dusty rose, a dusty lilac, a light lilac, a light blue, a slate blue, gray and charcoal gray/blackish. They all have shimmer. I really enjoyed playing with this palette. I found it to be more wearable than I expected. I absolutely love the last two shades and that dusty rose is very pretty. The color pay off is very good. Of the three palettes, this one was the most chalky/powdery. I would buy this one again when it goes on sale.

Eye Shadow -Avon - Eight in One Eye Palette In Paradise Green
rated 4 of 5
valleychic 10/25/2008 3:02:00 PM

This very nice palette by Avon is called Paradise Green and it contains 8 eyeshadows. They all have soft shimmer. The shades are not individually named so I will try to describe them to the best of my abilitiy. From L to R: A very soft pearly green, a mint green, a buttery yellow, a champagne brown, a light taupe brown, a deep olive green, a deep chocolate brown, and chocolate brown. This palette is very nice for those with warm skintones. The shades are nice and wearable and if you are just starting to experiment with color this is a nice palette to play with. The color pay off is good. There is a good amount of fallout with these shadows though. I think that the yellow color was an odd selection for this palette. If they had included a second darker or goldtone shade it might not look so out of place. I would have preferred another mid-range shade of green in it's place. Overall, this is a nice option and I would buy it again.

Treatments (Eye) -Avon - Avon Solutions Advanced Eye Perfector
rated 4 of 5
valleychic 10/19/2008 3:06:00 PM

This product is really more of a gel than an eye cream. I find it very refreshing and light which is what I look for because I dislike thick, greasy products. It really helps with under eye puffiness and it is just moisturizing enough for me. I have oily skin and no issues with wrinkles--yet. If you are looking for an anti-wrinkle eye treatment, you will probably be dissapointed with this product. If you want something cool and refreshing that will help with puffiness, then give this product a try. Advanced Eye Perfector sells for 9.50 but it goes on sale from time to time and that's when I stock up. Very nice product that I will definately buy again.

Eye Shadow -Avon - eight in one eye palette neutral tones
rated 5 of 5
valleychic 10/17/2008 7:58:00 PM

8 in 1 eye shadow palette from Avon.  This review is for the Neutral Tones set.  You get 8 different shades of browns.  They are all shimmery and they range from light champagne to copper to deep brown. I really like this palette.  It is the most wearable of the three available and a great option for work. I think that these browns are a bit on the warmer side but they are very neutral so all skintones can make it work. The color payoff is very good.  The only thing I noticed is that there is more fallout with these eyeshadows than with the others I own but that is not a big problem.  The packaging is nice enough.  They come in a navy blue hard plastic case with a clear window so you can see the shades.  There is a built in mirror inside the case which is not terribly helpful and of course the standard sponge tip applicators that I always toss away.  I had never bought Avon eyeshadows before but I could not resist these palettes as I paid about 5.50 for each.  I will definately buy this set again.

Lipstick -Revlon - Super Lustrous Lipstick in Naturally Nude
rated 3 of 5
valleychic 10/15/2008 7:45:00 PM

I have seen this shade at Big Lots from time to time. It is definately warm toned. Unfortunately, this shade did not work on me. I need a deeper coral shade if I am going to venture into the warm tones. This is too light. It is a nice terracota but it goes on lighter than what you see in the tube. Overall, the consistency of Revlon lipsticks is excellent. They have no offensive scent, they go on smoothly and they are not drying. My all time favorite shade of the Revlon nudes was Deeply Nude which is discontinued. I have been searching for a replacement but, alas, without luck.

Lipstick -Bobbi Brown - Cocoa lipstick Fall '03
rated 3 of 5
valleychic 10/11/2008 8:46:00 PM

The name of this shade is Cocoa which suggests a dark brown color, but this shade is a nude brown with cool pink undertones. Worn by itself it washes me out but mixed with a pink lipliner or some nice gloss, it works better. Overall, I like the texture of this lipstick. It goes on smoothly and I do not find it drying like other reviewers. I will not purchase this shade again because the color just did not work for me. I am latina with black hair and brown eyes.
