Gels/Soaps -LUSH - Twas The Night Before Christmas

it's unfortunate that this isn't sold year round...perhaps by another name. it goes perfectly well combined with Black Pearl bath bomb. the scents are very similar....tart blackberry and heady lavender. an unusual fragrance combination that i would have never imagined enjoying this much. but that's why i like lush so much! this is a softer bar soap, like Alkmaar and Gratuitous Violets. it feels very soft and silky and makes lather quite easily. an all around beautiful soap. hopefully other people can try it before lush gets rid of them after the holidays.

i love chocolate scents and this shower gel is the ultimate chocolate treat. it smells so amazing and delicious! using it in the morings is a huge treat for me. everything about this shower gel is so rich and bold. the lovely fragrance, the foamy lather, and the thick texture are all a big plus. although this is similar to Heavenly Bodies Butter Cream (another of my favorites), this has a much more intense fragrance, with hints of citrus and coffee. i get bored with humdrum fragrances and i really crave ridiculously intense soaps and bath products like this one. i really do love this shower gel!

Lotions/ Creams -LUSH - Schnuggle Body Butter
rated 5 of 5

anyone who loves Dreamtime bath melt, Dream Cream, or In the Nude bath melt will most likely love the natural, warm herbal smell in this body butter. there's such a soothing quality to this that does feel relaxing and sleep inducing. i don't use this in the bath or shower, only on dry skin as i would a massage bar. it heats up easily and goes on smoothly and non-greasily. it's the least oily of all the massage bars and feels very moisturizing without being at all heavy. i can use this in the morning and put my clothes on right away without it getting all over everything. highly recommend!

Other -LUSH - Black Tooth Gel
rated 3 of 5
triangleX 1/16/2006 10:59:00 PM

i'm almost on the fence with this one. it's a neat idea and really fun to use, but it seems like almost a novelty rather than a real toothpaste. i find myself using this in the middle of the day for a light cleaning rather than at night and in the morning. without the mint, my mouth just doesn't feel clean. the jelly consistancy feels nice in my mouth and the black color is neat to swish around. also, it tastes nice...like a bright tea flavor. but...my teeth just don't feel minty fresh and squeaky clean like they should. so why am i on the fence then? b/c this is just fun. the size is too small for the price though in IMHO. if they made the packaging larger then it would be completely worth the price and i would buy it again for my midday teeth brushing. but overall, i guess i'm disappointed.

Gels/Soaps -LUSH - Snow Showers Shower Jelly

i love the way this smells! beautiful citrus, tangy orange with a subtle undertone of vanilla. it smells more like a 50/50 bar (those orange creamy ice cream bars) than a mimosa but i love it just the same. as always, people either seem to love or hate the shower jellies. i love them and this is no exception. would buy again.

Lips -Tarte - 24.7 Lip Sheer in Thursday
rated 5 of 5
triangleX 1/16/2006 9:26:00 PM

i first had Tarte's Lipsheer in Friday, which is the perfect berry shade for me. this i bought knowing it would be the perfect everyday pink color for me. it's nuetral, natural and looks very pretty with my fair skin (but i think it would be lovely on any skin tone). thankfully there is no shimmer or sparkles or anything along those lines which might mar this. this is the perfect pink color for anyone wanting a pink that isn't bright, babydoll, frosted, or glossy. the matte finish is nice, it feels light on, like i'm wearing nothing at all. the color lasts even when the moisture wears off, so if i forget to put it in my purse in the morning it's not a big deal. one of the other reviewers was right about only applying one swipe...the color does get darker if you keep running it over your lips.

Blush -Tarte - Cheek Stain in Blushing Bride
rated 5 of 5
triangleX 1/16/2006 9:15:00 PM

this blush is so gorgeous. i get the most lovely rosy flush from it....not that baby pink look that seems so popular now. this gives a real flushed look, something that looks like it came from the gym or a cold day (in a good way). it also looks very subtle on my cheeks despite the intense appearance in the package. i love that the color can be built up if needed but i usually find that the first swipes work fine. i usually wipe this right on my cheeks over my powder and just rub it in with my fingers. it sets perfectly and lasts all day. for the price this is a brilliant deal b/c i know it will last and last.

Lipstick -Tarte - 24.7 Lip Sheer in Friday

i love the lip sheers...such a nice combo of pigment and texture. this is gorgeous on my skin and looks very pretty with a natural eye. some berries look terrible on me b/c my skin is very fair and my hair is such a light blond. but this manages to be bright and dramatic w/o looking like i'm playing dress up. i did take off one lippie just b/c it's not a color i would wear everyday. but in every other aspect (quality, price, consistancy) i think it's fantastic. i love the tube packaging too...perfect for my purse.

Lip Gloss -Tarte - Ginger & Fred Duo Gloss
rated 5 of 5
triangleX 1/6/2006 11:51:00 PM

this looks so brown and muddy in the tube. if it wasn't for the name i wouldn't have tried it on at all. the perfect glossy nude shade and shimmering highlighter for the center of the lips. it seems to be the kind of color that flatters everyone. the texture is very nice and the quality is excellent. it seemed to last a normal amount of time with me...no problems there. i would repurchase this color and i want to try a few of the others in their line as well.

Lip Treatments -LUSH - Eggsnog
rated 5 of 5

before i became a vegan i loved eggnog...such a yummy treat around the holidays. this smells exactly like real eggnog. it's so surprising that they can nail the fragrance so precisely. it makes the philosophy version of eggnog (the shower gel that is) smell overly sweet and nasty. this is pure love for me....i feel like i can indulge without the guilt. feels wonderful too...not as thick and grainy as whipstick (don't get me wrong i adore whipstick) but still moisturizes and sinks into my lips well. has a shinier look too...almost like a slippery gloss. wish they offered this year round but my little tin will most likely last till next holiday anyway.

Gels/Soaps -LUSH - Snow Fairy Shower Gel
rated 5 of 5
triangleX 11/20/2005 7:50:00 PM

i'm not a big fan of glitter products but this is the exeption. there's enough glitter to look pretty in the bottle but i never actually see any on myself. so i get to have the luxury of a pink glitter shower gel without the mess of the actual glitter. i feel like a princess when i use this and it really leaves my skin feeling radiant. i use it on my hair too--leaves my hair clean and it smells wonderful but i'm not sure if it does much else as far as protecting color or moisturizing or anything else (i only use it once in awhile as a shampoo). this smells like rock star soap to me...with some fruit scents too. this is a perfect shower gel in my book! a new favorite!

Gels/Soaps -LUSH - Randy Buttercream
rated 2 of 5
triangleX 11/15/2005 7:31:00 PM

i am disappointed in this buttercream. it's the same soft consistancy as the other buttercreams, without any exfoliants or other additions. this does feel moisturizing and does make my skin feel soft so i gave it a few lippies for that (and for the excellent quality). but i hate the smell! i don't detect any warm vanilla notes, or anything to tone down the extremely sharp alcohol odors. to me this reeks of cognac and rum, which is great if you like that (it certainly is unique) but i don't find it pleasant to shower with. maybe if this was a bath bomb or bubble bar i'd like the scent. to be fair it does smell much stronger in the package than in the shower, but i still hate it and i would never buy this one again. (p.s...i actually ended up giving this to my fiance who loves this, so it might be that this is too much of a masculine scent for me).

Bath Treatments -LUSH - Black Pearl
rated 4 of 5
triangleX 11/10/2005 4:58:00 PM

loved the unique fragrance in this one! lavender and blackcurrent seems an odd pairing but it works. the salt is a nice touch too...feels more marine-like that way. not really what i'd call a beachy experience but there's something of a vintage ocean cruise about it. i sound crazy but i do feel like envisioning pirates and huge wooden ships when using this--must be the movie reference playing tricks on me. loved it just the same though. one lippie off though for the glitter...it's not terrible or excessive but it is rather annoying to clean up. still i would probably buy this one again for the imaginative scent.

Gels/Soaps -LUSH - Lemslip Buttercream
rated 5 of 5
triangleX 10/13/2005 7:14:00 PM

this buttercream has a VERY sharp, intense, smells-up-the-entire room lemon fragrance. i usually use this on those days when i can't wake up in the morning, or after working out (perfect for sweaty days) since it's so invigorating. i feel like i'm soaping up with pure zesty lemons. nothing artificial or sweet about this one. nice creamy consistancy with a slightly grainy texture, almost as if there was tiny bits of grated lemon peel inside it (nothing harsh though...it doesn't feel like an exfoliant in that sense). unlike the other buttercreams, this one does feel more clarifying. it doesn't strip my skin dry or anything like that. i just feel super squeaky clean afterwards, like it's a little lemon detox or something. lush claims this one is great for oily skin and i truly believe it...my brother has incredibly oily skin and he says it really helps him (he uses it on his face too with no problems). overall, i don't find anything about this i don't like, and the smell is worth repurchasing again even if i was unsure about its other qualities (thankfully i'm not though!!).

Gels/Soaps -LUSH - Almond Buttercream
rated 5 of 5
triangleX 10/7/2005 2:52:00 PM

this must be my favorite of the new buttercreams since i reach for this most often. it's absolutely addicting in all respects. the consistancy is creamy, soft, and mushy like a luxurious paste....very easy to soap up into a pretty rich lather. smells like sweet, heady almond with a hint of gorgeous orange oils. this is an extremely feminine food scent but not noxious or sticky sweet. the closest comparison for me is an exotic almond liqueur, similar to italian amaretto. and best of all, the scent does linger for quite awhile! i use about a 1" sliver (or smaller b/c you only need a tiny bit) and use it like any solid soap. don't take the whole buttercream in the shower with you though b/c it will melt away. i did make the mistake however of using this for the first time after i shaved my legs. owww!! this has exfoliating almond grounds in it and it shouldn't be used after shaving...trust me it really hurts! but on normal non-shaving days it feels like a pretty mild exfoliant b/c the almond bits are very fine. i love almond buttercream and will repurchase as long as lush carries it.
