Blush -Bobbi Brown - Blush in Nectar
rated 5 of 5
theminx 5/11/2008 6:44:00 AM

NC50 here and I LOVE this blush so much I've been using it almost everyday since I bought it a month ago. Pigmented enough to show on my dark skin, but not freakishly so that I need to be careful applying. I don't use my skunk brush, just a regular blush brush works perfectly (I use the Mac 129). To me Nectar looks clear cool medium pink with no shimmer, but I think there must be some peach in it as it blends beautifully into my warm skintone. Looks natural and makes my skin come alive. I love using this with Mac Remotely Grey eyeshadow, dark grey smudged liner and a subtle pink lip. Looks good over Bobbi Brown Bronzer too.

Other -Supersmile - Professional Whitening System
rated 5 of 5
theminx 3/9/2008 4:56:00 AM

I bought the full-sized version on Ebay for about USD$50 including international shipping. The kit contains a Professional Whitening Toothpaste (4.2oz) and Professional Whitening Accelerator Component (3.6oz) and 2 toothbrushes. To use, squeeze a pea-sized amount each of the toothpaste and accelerator on a dry toothbrush and brush for 2 minutes at least. The results have been dramatic for me, I never thought my teeth could be so white! Consistency is the key though. If I stop using this for a few days, my teeth look yellower. I find this really does clean teeth throughly - my teeth actually look shiny and sparkling after I brush. I don't like the toothbrushes in this kit at all; I find them too big and clunky. A big plus is the ease of use - since you have to brush 2 times a day anyway, this doesn't take up additional time or hassle. I have since repurchased.

Treatments (Eye) -Lancome - Renergie Microlift Eye R.A.R.E.
rated 4 of 5
theminx 3/9/2008 4:32:00 AM

This is 'new and improved' version of the discontinued Renergie Morpholift Eye cream. I've used both and this definitely more moisturising. (the lack of moisture was my main gripe with the previous version) The cream is also smoother and silkier and absorbs well. I use this under my Bobbi Brown corrector and Becca Concealer and it doesn't crease. Comes in a 15ml white jar with blue cap, retails at USD$58. I've been using this for a month and my fine undereye lines are certainly not erased, but I don't think any topical cream can really do that anyway. I'm pretty happy with this & will repurchase.

Lipstick -MAC - High Top
rated 4 of 5
theminx 3/1/2008 12:08:00 AM

I was on the fence about buying this, and wouldn't have bought it if it wasn't limited edition. But because it was, I had to grab one quick or it would be gone from the counters. I traded in my my empties so was free. I agree that this is somewhat like a lipstick version of Club eyeshadow. My lips are pigmented so it shows up as a sheer wash of green shimmer with aqua microglitter. I might wear this on it's own to a club, but most likely usage will be over other lipsticks to give it some added dimension. Very pretty unique colour. The glitter is very hard to remove though! Like all the Fafi for Mac lipglosses and lipsticks, the Fafi design is not printed on the tube itself, but is sort of a added wrap-around. I'm NC45-50 for reference.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Paint Pot in Nice Vice (Fafi Collection)
rated 4 of 5
theminx 2/19/2008 8:34:00 AM

My first Mac paint pot! The colour on my lids is an exact dupe of Urban Decay's Last Call eyeshadow, but less shimmery, especialy if you apply a thin layer. On me this is a vibrant plummy pink (I'm NC50 btw). What I liked most about this was it gave my eyeshadow incredible staying power with no creasing all day. Not a huge fan of this particular colour (too cool toned for me) but I will check out the other paint pots colours for sure. I didn't have a problem with the lid like others mentioned.

Eye Shadow -Chanel - Soft Touch Eyeshadow-Cinnamon
rated 5 of 5
theminx 2/17/2008 9:08:00 AM

This shows up a soft taupey shimmery cafe au lait on my NC50 skintone. Definitely a cool colour with no red or gold tones in it at all. Glides on smoothly and easy to blend. Would repurchase if I ever ran out.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Remotely Grey Eyshadow
rated 4 of 5
theminx 2/17/2008 9:04:00 AM

I think this is a gorgeous neutral for darker skintones. I'm NC50 and this looks grey-taupe on my lids, perfect with deep grey smudged kohl for a subtle daytime smoky eye. Agree with the lack of pigmentation mentioned by other reviewers. I find the best way to get the colour to show is to really load the brush and pat it on. No issues wih chalkiness. I'm warm-toned but didn't have problems with this looking too cool on me. Would repurchase.

Lip Gloss -MAC - N Collection - 3N Lipglass
rated 5 of 5
theminx 2/17/2008 8:58:00 AM

Darker ladies looking for a nude gloss should try this out. I'm NC50 and this gives me the perfect nude lip that doesn't wash me out or look chalky or lipless/bloodless. I was scared to try a nude lip after a disaterous episode with Mac Chelsea lipstick years ago (hello concealer lips); but this is perfect. Medium coverage and keep lips moisturised even after the colour's worn off. Doesn't last through eating/drinking, but I don't think any gloss does. I'm thinking of getting a backup since it's Limited Edition.

Lip Gloss -MAC - Squeeze It
rated 4 of 5
theminx 2/17/2008 8:48:00 AM

Darker-skinned ladies will find lots of colours that work for them in the Fafi collection, and this lipgloss is one of them. I'm Mac NC50 and this looks medium plummy pink with a tiny hint of bronze shimmer. It's a fresh colour that brightens up my face. I am disappointed that the Fafi picture isn't printed on the tube cap, but it's just a plastic wraparound, which looks like it's fall off in months. No regrets getting this but won't repurchase, as the colour's not that unique.

Eyeliner -Lancome - Le Stylo Waterproof in Fumee
rated 5 of 5
theminx 2/17/2008 8:38:00 AM

I got the full-size free with my Strawberry.net order. This isn't something I would have looked at twice at the counter but I'm glad I got it now. Firstly the deep smokey grey colour is remarkably flattering on my NC50 skintone, especially paired with a lighter grey eyeshadow like Mac Remotely Grey. Gives a subtle smoky look that works for day and lasts all day without smudging even in 100% humidity. The nib of this twist-up pencil is a little thick which makes it a hard to draw a thin line, but it's perfect when used with the sponge smudger on the other end of the pencil. Takes some time to get the application right due to the thickness of the nib, but worth the trouble. Does not transfer even on my oily lids.

Makeup Brushes -Sephora - Professional Powder Brush #48
rated 5 of 5
theminx 1/12/2008 9:44:00 AM

I can't believe I haven't reviewed this yet. This is one of my all-time favourite brushes! The name is misleading - it's not specifically for allover application of loose or pressed powder. It's for applying any powder products (like blush). I use this for blush and it gives me perfect application each time. The goat hair bristles don't shed and are soft, though not as soft as Mac or higher-end brands. So far has held up well to washings too. For the price, it's well worth a try.

Makeup Brushes -MAC - Holiday 2002 Brush Set
rated 4 of 5
theminx 1/12/2008 9:21:00 AM

A lot of people here familiar with Mac brush sets will probably tell you they're awful. True for the newer sets but this set from 2002 set is pretty awesome. I still use the 126SE and 213SE regularly and they're holding up well. The dud in this set is the 266SE (eyeliner brush) - it's way too thick and fluffy for fluidlines. I do have the full sized version of this to compare. I absolutely love the black brush bag! I used it as an everyday make-up bag for years and it held up amazingly well. I have since purchased another Mac brush set (from Xmas 2005, which has the same brushes) and I have to say Mac's quality has really deteriorated over the years. The 2005 newer set is scratchy, the brushes aren't shaped well and shed so much I have pretty much given up on them. I'm glad I got the 2002 set. Would definitely repurchase if I could.

Scrubs -Malin & Goetz - Peppermint Body Scrub
rated 2 of 5
theminx 1/6/2008 9:55:00 AM

This body scrub comes in a 220ml/7.5oz tube with a screw-top cap. I think I paid SGD$48 (about USD$34). The product itself grey runny gel and the main ingredients are peppermint, bamboo, pumice and amino acid. I'm always used cheap body scrubs, my all-time favourite being St Ives which does the job pretty well. Anyway, I bought this on a whim to see if a pricier scub would be much better than St Ives. Well it isn't even close. While this scores top marks in the feel-good department, it's disappointing in terms of performance. The peppermint really makes me feel light and refreshed - perfect on sore muscles after a workout - really a joy to use. But in terms of exfoliation, it just doesn't deliver. My skin doesn't feel any smoother, and makes no difference to rough and dry patches. Will not repurchase.

Fragrances -Bulgari - Rose Essentielle EDP - limted edition
rated 5 of 5
theminx 1/6/2008 4:52:00 AM

I'm not usually a fan of straight florals, or scents that not youthful, but somehow I was attracted to this. It reminded me instantly of YSL Paris, but after swatching both in the store I found Paris to be much more powdery. The dominant scent to me is fresh, bright rose, I don't detect any powdery-ness in this at all. It lasts incredibly well on me - easily 10 hours or more. I got this as a Christmas present and wear it during the day. While I'm really enjoying this now, it's unlikely I'll repurchase because it just isn't complex enough to make me want to use it over and over.

Lipstick -MAC - Lustre - Budding Lust (Antiquitease)
rated 4 of 5
theminx 1/6/2008 4:35:00 AM

This is cool, slightly frosted, plummy pink sheer lipstick, with purple tones. The colour reminds me of an orchid. Like all the Lustre formulas I've tried, this goes on smooth and sheer and feel light and comfortable on. However, like most Lustres, it doesn't last well. Because I'm warm-toned and this liistick is cool-toned and purply, I do need to think about my blush and eyeshadow combo when putting this on to make sure it doesn't clash. Still a great colour and I'm glad I bought it. I'm NC50 for reference.
