Lips -Estee Lauder - All Day Lipstick in Classic Red
thefairestlady1012 5/26/2009 6:24:00 PM
This is a nice color. This lipstick actually belonged to my mom, but I needed a brighter, more pronounced red for stage make-up. My two HG red lipsticks are the sheery berry/wine red of Clinique's Almost Lipstick in Black Honey and the blood/brick dark red of MAC's Viva Glam I lipstick. To me, the color of "Classic Red" is a hybrid between the American blue-based Marilyn Monroe-esque classic red and a brighter ever-so-slightly more orangey Spanish Red. This (and all other Estee Lauder lipsticks I've tried) is a smidge drying, but no extremely so. It's definately bearable (and fixable with a good clear balm underneath). The price is about $20-$25 USD. Purchasable At Macy's, Belk, Nordstrom Sephora etc. I sometimes apply this with my finger for a subtle Spanish Red tint to my lips. (applied from the tube it's too bright for me when I'm not on stage). I am a PPP (Think the elves in Lothlorien or Rose Mcgowan) with neutral/cool undertones naturally blonde hair, and blue/gray eyes. I might buy this again, but won't use it very often as I have two other red or red-dish lipstivks that work better for me. Try it though it is a nice color and may work better for someone who is not so pale or who doesn't normally do theit eyes up very much. I'm a smoky eye freak!!! (I like gray/black and plum ones the best).

Polishes -OPI - Kyoto Pearl
thefairestlady1012 5/22/2009 10:40:00 PM
My actual rating for this product is a 3.5. The color itself is a very pretty silvery pearl color with shimmer. I once had a no-name-brand nail polish that came in one of my many body glitter/colorless fruity-candish lip gloss/glittery nail polish kits, which we all had/have during our pre-makeup years, that was nearly the exact same shade as this color. I have been forever searching for a replacment as I either misplaced or completely used the original. The formula is streaky as others have mentioned. Being that this is my first OPI nail polish, I wonder if that is a characteristic of the entire brand or just this shade or finish of nail polish. I will try more colors, and may very well purchase it again. It's lasting power (after 1 coat with no base or top coat) is not as good as Sally Hansen's with the same method of application, but again that could be due to the shininess and opalescence unique (or characteristic of) this shade rather than the whole OPI brand.

Eye Shadow -Stila - Smoky Eye Palette
thefairestlady1012 12/29/2008 1:43:00 PM
Today is my second time using this palette and I must say it is an HG for me. The colors are dark and edgy, but not scary or overtly gothic. These are buildable shades so they are appropriate for both daytime and evening wear. The colors are a shimmery champagne (for a base color) a shimmery medium/dark gray taupe (for the lid) a kind of dark black/gray brown (for the crease) and a blackish brown as a liner shade. I must admit though I don't use the talking feature in this palette because I don't need it. I love this and would buy again. I haven't really tried to incorporate these shades with others in my shadow collection very much yet because these four alone create a really beautiful look for me, but they do work well with Lancome's Color Design Eyeshadow in Ciel du Soir. I use that shade all over my eye after I've gone through the steps with the four shades in the palette to gray out the colors. It's beautiful. Add some MAC Electra to the inner corners, and you have my daily routine. I add more Ciel du Soir and more of the black from the palette to darken the look for evening. Update: HG of HG's for eye makeup. I love this thing. I use it all the time for both day and evening. Evenings especially. It's also nice for fall/winter daytime looks, and even in the spring/summer if I wear darker-colored outfits. I wonder though if the NYX 10-color smokey eye palette is comparable to this. The quality of there shadows is great, when one considers how cheap they are when compared to designer brands, and some of the colors look really similar to those in the Stila palette. I'm almost afraid to try it though because if something works so well, why try to change it? I don't know, but the NYX is cheaper.

Eye Shadow -Lancome - Ciel du Soir
thefairestlady1012 12/29/2008 1:33:00 PM
This color is a true day-to-night shade. It's a nice matte medium gray that can serve as a crease shade or a component to a dark smokey eye. As with all Lancome Color Design eyeshadows, the texture, finish (matte in this case), and pigmentation are awesome. I love the feminine and chic packaging too: a black container with a white rose one the lid. I have two other Lancome Color Design shadows Waif: a neutral beige and Click: a grayish-taupe brown (similar to MAC's Satin Taupe) All three are great and I can't wait to try more colors as the mood strikes me. A few side notes: Ciel du Soir was used on actress Alexis Biedel of "The Gilmore Girls" in a photoshoot for Lucky magazine along with other Lancome products. This color also looks fantastic with the four shades in The Stila Smokey Eye Kit in "The Grays" Will repurchase.

Lipstick -MAC - Viva Glam I - the original
thefairestlady1012 12/26/2008 6:22:00 PM
In my short lifetime, I must have tried about 20 different red lipsticks. All were either too bright, to fuschia, too orange, or too ruby/blue toned. This is perfect. It has a very neutral base and has a buildable intensity. It can transition from day to night LOVE. Update: I now consider this #2 on my favorite lipsticks list. Here it goes: #1 BeneFit's Benetint Lipbalm #2 MAC's Viva Glam I #3 Clinique's Almost Lipstick in Black Honey #4 Clinique's Buttershine Lipstick in First Love (discontinued) #5 Clinique's Buttershine Lipstick in Pink-a-boo #6 Lancome's Color Design Lipstick in Vintage Rose #7 NYC New York Color's Sungold Pink Lipgloss (cheap and beautiful) #8 Neutrogena's Petal Lipstick (discontinued) #9 Lancome's Color Design Lipsticks in Curtain Call and All Done-Up (It's a draw) #10 MAC's Lip Glass in Underage (my nude-pink fave).

Shampoo -Pantene - Moisture Renewal Shampoo

This smells soooo incredibly awesome. This leaves my hair totally clean, moisturized, volumized, and shiny. I have had no problems with my occassional dandruff with this shampoo/conditioner. I use the 2-in-1 to save room in my shower. Will buy again.

Fragrances -Bath and Body Works - Black Amethyst- Eau De Toilette
thefairestlady1012 10/25/2008 10:22:00 PM
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love this. I really love any type of fragrance the girly to the clean to the sexy ( and its not really a seasonal thing with me: I wear what I want to wear when I want to wear it). This definately falls into the dark, mysterious category without being too overpowering. I love this and wish it wasn't limited edition.

Mascara -L'Oreal - Bare Naturale Mascara - Blackest Black
thefairestlady1012 10/25/2008 10:18:00 PM
L'oreal mascaras are awesome and this relatively new one is no exception. I personally I am constantly searching for ways to bring my make-up collection "back to nature" This mascara seemed to be a good solution for that. As far as its effect is concerned, it lengthens and separates my lashes with maybe a little thickening action going on. The blackest black shade definately lives up to its name, which is great. The packaging is sooo beautiful too: A dark black and brown swirly tube with silver letters and lid. i honestly cannot decide whether I like this or L'oreal Voluminous better. Update: I soooo prefer Voluminous in Carbon Black (by L'oreal): more lasting power, deeper black, more definition... that is my HG mascara. I hope they never discontinue it!!!!!!!

Eye Shadow -L'Oreal - HiP Bright Duo - Showy
thefairestlady1012 8/4/2008 4:01:00 PM
This is a great duo. A shimmery turquoise blue and a matte dark cobalt blue. Both of these are beautiful and work well wet and dry. The turquoise is a cheaper (and permanent) match for MAC's Parrot this comes with one applicator and a mirror. Cost ranges from $5 to $7 dollars USD.

Cleansers -Olay - Olay Dual Action Cleanser-Toner
thefairestlady1012 7/27/2008 9:54:00 PM
I really hate to write such a negative review on such a well-liked product, but this cleanser totally dried out my skin and even gave me chemical burns. I am going to go back to my Almay for Dry Skin with Cucumber (cleanser, alcohol-free toner and oil-free creamy moisturizer with SPF 15) . It is the only routine that doesn't harm and benefits my skin. I do reccomend that you give this a try because it may work for you, especially if you have a combination, normal, and/or oily skin type. This product does have a few, minimal pluses that are worth mentioning. I love the fact that it is packaged in a pump bottle rather than a squeeze tube or some other form of packaging. I believe that pump bottles are the most user-friendly of all packaging methods for skincare products. I also find the fragrance pleasant, but that's just me.

Moisturizers -Clean & Clear - SOFT Oil-Free Moisturzer - Day ] [DISCONTINUED]
thefairestlady1012 7/25/2008 12:52:00 PM
I probably won't buy this product again. I love that it has SPF 15, which is a plus for my very fair skin. It is very moisturizing without being too oily, greasy, or heavy. The other products in the SOFT line by Clean and Clear (the purifying cleanser/scrub and the in-shower facial) have really started to dry my face out too much. I have, then, discontinued their use. Since I cannot use the other two products in the collection, the moisturizer has nothing to coordinate with. I usually try to use cleansers, toners, and moisturizers in the same collection together or, at least, by the same brand as they tend to work the best in concert together. All Clean& and Clear products overdry my skin. So I will never use this brand again personally. Their products are of good quality and price point, but they are just not right for my skin type (extremely dry but not exempt from a monthly breakout or two during THAT TIME). Try them and this little collection. They may work fantastically for you. On to Olay Dual Action Cleanser and Toner 2-in-1 with cucumber extract. So far so good but I need a few more tries before making an overall analysis and writing a review. I still miss my Almay collection of cleanser, toner, and moisturizer for dry skin with cucumber, which is no longer available in the stores, drugstores, and grocery stores, and markets in my town.
