Gels/Soaps -Philosophy - Pumpkin Spice Muffin 3-in-1
rated 5 of 5

I am a pumpkin junkie. I can't get enough. I have candles, room sprays, body care, and tons of pumpkin baking recipes. I have tried some yummy smelling pumpkin body washes (B&BW 3-in-1 Pumpkin Pie was nice and spicy) and some not so great ones (B&BW Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin body wash smells too fruity to me, but I LOVE the candle and Wallflowers in that scent). Philosophy's Pumpkin Pie 3-in-1 was just OK for me. But, given my obsession with all things pumpkin I had to give this new Philosophy scent a try. It is delicious! It is my favorite pumpkin scented body wash ever. It actually is tied with Philosophy's Cinnamon Buns for my favorite body wash now. Pumpkin Spice Muffin is a warm, spicy pumpkin scent with a hint of buttery goodness. Philosophy washes all foam wonderfully and feel luxurious. This one is no exception. It makes showering a real treat. If you love warm comfort scents definitely give Pumpkin Spice Muffin a try!

Gels/Soaps -Bath and Body Works - Temptations Hello Sugar Shower Sugar 3in1 Body Wash
rated 4 of 5
sugarlumples 9/21/2008 6:48:00 PM

I am a big fan of 3-in-1 products from both Philosophy and Bath and Body Works. I have tried numerous scents and this is a pretty good one. It smells like lemon cupcakes I make during the summer. It is lemony, but also sweet smelling. I have to rotate it out with other washes because the smell can get to be a bit much if I use it exclusively for too long. It foams pretty well, but not as well as Philosophy washes. It isn't incredibly moisturizing, but also doesn't completely dry my skin out either. The cap on mine tends to leak a bit, but other than that I like the packaging. I got this for $6 during the semi-annual, so it was a great buy. Overall, it is a decent scent and a slightly above average body wash.

Fragrances -Estee Lauder - Sensuous
rated 5 of 5

I stumbled upon this fragrance while registering for my wedding at Macy's. The bridal consultant had actually worked in the fragrance department for many years so when I mentioned that I had not had much luck finding something that I loved to wear on my wedding day she helped me pick out something special. I tried on several scents and decided on Tommy Hilfiger's Dreaming. On my way out I decided to try this scent and after I got home I could not stop sniffing my arm. I went back the next day to buy a bottle. I am in love with this scent, but it is definitely heavy and will be perfect for fall. I wanted to find a fragrance that I would always associate with my wedding day and I am so happy I found this scent! The SA at Macy's told me that this fragrance is one that you either love or hate. She said that it turned powdery on her. On me it is warm, sweet, and I definitely catch the peppery scent. I just love it.

Fragrances -Tommy Hilfiger - Dreaming
rated 4 of 5

I bought this on Saturday and I am enjoying it so far. I ususally go for much warmer scents, but this is a nice fresh scent for summer that still has some depth to it. It is perfect to wear to work because the scent is classic and not offensive to any coworkers (hopefully!). The bottle is pretty standard. The larger sizes come with a charm, but I got the smaller size with a lotion in a set, so I didn't get the charm. It is a square bottle with a chunky square cap. It isn't ugly, but it isn't anything spectacular either. On a side note, I had been searching for the perfect fragrance to wear for my upcoming wedding and I thought this was it until I tried the new Estee Lauder perfume, Sensuous. I am in love with that scent, but it is definitely more heavy and will be perfect for fall.

Moisturizers -Olay - Nutrients Night Renewal Cream
rated 3 of 5
sugarlumples 7/15/2008 11:50:00 PM

I bought this to try after I ran out of my Olay Total Effects moisturizer. I like a heavier night cream and a light mattifying lotion during the day. This is a nice cream, but I prefer the Total Effects. The smell is very strong, but not unpleasant. It is sort of tropical. I has a medium consistency and absorbs easily. The consistency is about the same as the sensitive skin cream from Olay that comes in the same tub form. It seems less greasy than the sensitive skin formula though. This product comes in a tub form, which is not my favorite. I prefer a pump bottle. My skin breaks out fairly easily and this product has not broke me out so far. I have been using it for about a month. Overall, this is a nice moiturizer, but I don't notice any anti-aging effects from it. Total Effects actually appears to diminish the look of pores and makes my skin glow. If you are looking for something to help with the very early signs of aging then I would recommend Total Effects over this product. It comes in a pump, has a very light pleasant smell, and the non SPF version is great for those who want a nice nighttime moisturizer.

Lip Treatments -Caudalie - Grapeseed Lip Conditioner
rated 3 of 5
sugarlumples 6/28/2008 1:25:00 PM

I go this lip conditioner as part of the VinoGo Weekend Kit from Sephora. I was excited to try all of the products based on the reviews I read before purchasing. This is my favorite of any of the products contained within the kit. But, like all of the other products by Caudalie, I can't pay that much money for what is basically a chapstick. The feel is nice, but a bit less greasy than other lip treatments. I am actually a fan of "slip" in my lip stuff, so I wasn't happy about that. The smell is nice and not overpowering at all. The staying power of the conditioning feel is not that long. I am a lip product junkie and I am used to reapplying frequently to get that "slip" on my lips. This one just doesn't have the long lasting conditioning I would expect. And the $12 price tag would buy a lot of my favorite lip product...Lip Smackers!

Treatments (Eye) -Caudalie - Grape-Seed Eye Contour Cream
rated 3 of 5
sugarlumples 6/28/2008 1:11:00 PM

I go this cream as part of the VinoGo Weekend Kit from Sephora. I was excited to try all of the products based on the reviews I read before purchasing. This cream is pretty nice overall, but like all of the other items in the kit, I just can't imagine paying full price for anything contained within the kit. This is a nice eye cream, but $53 dollars is crazy! Philosophy's Hope in a Tube was much more hydrating and it is only $33 for the same amount. The cream doesn't have a noticeable scent, but it does make my eye area a bit greasy. I also like the tube form this comes in better than eye creams that come in a pot. Overall, it is an ok eye cream, but I prefer other brands over this.

Cleansers -Caudalie - Instant Foaming Cleanser
rated 3 of 5
sugarlumples 6/28/2008 12:57:00 PM

I go this cleanser as part of the VinoGo Weekend Kit from Sephora. I was excited to try all of the products based on the reviews I read before purchasing. This is much better than the energizing cream ant the beauty exlir that came in the same kit. The cleanser dispensing into a nice foam, which is good for my increasingly oily skin. I don't enjoy creamy face washes as much as foaming washes. The smell is a bit stronger than I was expecting, but it isn't unpleasant. The smell reminds me of the Joico shampoo I used many years ago. The cleanser cleans well and removes eye makeup. It doesn't make my skin squeaky or tight. It is an ok cleanser, but I cannot imagine paying $26 dollars for a full size of this face wash. My $4 Purpose cleans just as well, so I will be sticking with that until I find my HG cleanser.

Toners -Caudalie - Beauty Elixir
rated 3 of 5
sugarlumples 6/28/2008 12:48:00 PM

I go this toner as part of the VinoGo Weekend Kit from Sephora. I was excited to try all of the products based on the reviews I read before purchasing. This is a product I am on the fence about. This is the first spray toner I have ever used and I am not sure how I feel about it. I think that I prefer using a cotton pad to apply toner so that it removes any traces of dirt, oil, or makeup. The smell is very strong and bit minty almost. It tingles when first applied, but sinks in pretty quickly. I avoid it anywhere near my lips or eyes. Overall, I just don't think this is something I would pruchase in full size. I don't like my toners to tingle that much and I enjoy the traditional method for application. Also, it is pretty expensive for a toner.

Moisturizers -Caudalie - Pulpe Vitaminee Energizing Cream
rated 2 of 5
sugarlumples 6/28/2008 12:36:00 PM

I go this cream as part of the VinoGo Weekend Kit from Sephora. I was excited to try all of the products based on the reviews I read before purchasing. This is my least favorite product so far. The cream seemed to have potential, but I cannot get past the smell. There is something in certain lotions that just smells so foul to me and this lotion has that scent. My fiance described it as a greasy smell, but I can't even begin to describe how it smells to me. The second night I used it I actually had to put my old pleasant smelling moisturizer under my nose to mask the smell. I gave up after two nights because my face and pillow both stunk. I did wake up to glowing skin, but it is definitely not something I could not use during the day even if the smell didn't make me want to gag. It is very rich and makes my skin a bit greasy. I would say that this is better for those with normal to dry skin. I definitely think that this is better for those who have a less sensitive sense of smell.

Blush -BeneFit Cosmetics - Posietint
rated 5 of 5
sugarlumples 6/25/2008 9:37:00 PM

I am reviewing this product as a lip stain, not as a blush. I was so excited to try this product since I am a big fan of lip stains in general. I like Benetint, but I am very fair with pink undertones and it can sometimes look a bit too red if I don't use it very sparingly. That seems to be the case with most lip stains, so I was so excited to see a pink lip stain. The product comes in a shiny bottle that is shaped like the originial Benetint stain. It also utilizes the same nail polish brush for application. This product has a much thicker consistency than Benetint and looks a bit like Pepto Bismol. I have to say that this formula BURNS upon application. It only stings for a few seconds, but that surprised me. The color itself is great. It is a fresh pink that is fairly close to my natural lip color, so it looks very natural. It isn't too light, which I am really happy about. I was worried it would look like the 80's light pink lip stick. Overall, I am very happy with the purchase. I was looking for a great lip stain for my wedding and I think this will be the winner!

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast
rated 4 of 5
sugarlumples 1/24/2008 8:43:00 PM

I'm a mascara junkie and I finally broke down and bought a tube of this in the very back shade. I like it and I will continue to use it. My lashes are brown and long and I usually go for a natural lengthened look, so this is a bit of a change for me. It definitely gives my lashes some oompf. My lashes are much more bold with this product, while still being somewhat lengthened. This product doesn't give as much of a wide eyed lengthened look as it does a very bold fat lash look. It doesn't flake badly at all and I like the consistency of the mascara. It comes off very easily and I have not had a residual raccoon eye episode after washing my face so far. The packaging is also really fun and the brush is neat. Overall, it seems to be a good mascara for achieving a dramatic look and I am happy with my purchase.

Conditioner -Ojon - Ultra Hydrating conditioner
rated 1 of 5
sugarlumples 1/24/2008 8:28:00 PM

I am very sensitive to smells and I have to say that this conditioner is especially foul smelling. I got a sample from Sephora and I was completely unimpressed. It smelled horrible and left my hair frizzy and crunchy. If you like "earthy" smells then you might like the scent, but I wanted to wretch after using it. It actually lingered in my hair all day and after washing and conditioning it the next day to get rid of the smell. Even if it didn't smell like a dirty hippy, the product itself was not impressive. My hair isn't dry or damaged, but it felt very parched after using this conditioner. Thankfully it was only a sample and I didn't waste any money on it.

Shampoo -John Frieda - Brilliant Brunette Shine Release Shampoo
rated 5 of 5
sugarlumples 1/24/2008 8:18:00 PM

This review is for the DAILY version of both the ample to maple and chestnut to espresso brilliant brunette shampoos. This line is my favorite drugstore brand of shampoo and conditioner. I have tried both the amber to maple and the chestnut to espresso versions and I have enjoyed them both. They are reasonably priced and I love the packaging. The conditioner comes in a 8.45 fl. oz. flip top tube that is clear. It dispenses easily and is a nice shade of brown. The smell to me is ok. It isn't bad at all, but it is different than a lot of other product scents out there. It is a warm scent that isn't overpowering. I enjoy it, but I am not a fan of most floral scents, so this is much more appealing to me. The shampoo and conditioner together work really well together for my hair. I have very fine, wavy, BSL hair that tends to get greasy very easily. I have to shampoo daily, so I need something that doesn't dry out my hair or weigh it down. This line just works for my hair type. It leaves it shiny, bouncy, soft, and not greasy at all. I am currently using the formula for darker shades of brown and I am really enjoying it. Both formulas are nice though. Overall, this is a great choice for fine haired folks out there who need a good daily shampoo.
