Misc Beauty Tools -Shiseido - Eyelash Curler
rated 3 of 5

I decided to give shiseido a try because I was sick of having to throw 22cdn shu uemura curlers every six months (they're still my favourite curlers though).. I am using Latisse so now my lashes are long, it does not matter what curlers I use. According to the SA from the Bay, I have the new version (dark metal). It is more straight and light to hold. this unfotunately pinches my eyes... So I am not repurchasing the curler. Oh I just tried the extra shiseido refill to my shu uemura curler, and it fits too!! curls just as the original shu did. So I def will repurchase the pads instead. A little tip, I used to curl my mascara'd lashes but this will just make the mascara formula stick to the curler. And if you allow the mascara to accumulate (like how I did pre-latisse) next time you curl, some of your lashes can break off!

Eyeliner -Maybelline - Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner
rated 4 of 5

Finally, a drugstore-priced product with the quality of its department store counterparts! My sister recommended this recently. I was using Stila's smudgepots and noticed that it was getting dry and flaky. I noticed that this was sold out in Canadian superstore. So when I saw the last blackest black colour in London Drugs, I bought it right away. I used it today and love it!! It is indeed smudgeproof and glides on smoothly like BB, MAC's gel eyeliners I tried in the past. Would definitely buy again! Update: not too pigmented though. but for the price, im sticking to this! it stays all day too. (though i use UDPP)

Mascara -L'Oreal - Double Extend Mascara with Lash Boosting Serum
rated 1 of 5
shyred05 3/31/2010 7:32:00 AM

UGH.. why did i get suckered by promises of a "conditioning" primer?! Anyway, am not happy with this product. Maybelline's define a lash works wayyy better than this. First of all, the primer only weighed done my curl. then the mediocre mascara didn't do it's job of extending my lashes. So not impressed! Will not buy again.

Mascara -Maybelline - Full 'N Soft Mascara
rated 1 of 5
shyred05 3/28/2010 10:04:00 PM

I honestly do not understand why this mascara is highly rated!!! yes, it looks natural but it doesn't do ANYTHING even after swiping 5 layers! doesn't hold the curl, doesn't lengthen.. ok, maybe it volumizes a bit. there are a lot more better mascaras out there (cheap ones too). will not repurchase!

Eye Shadow -BeneFit Cosmetics - Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liner - Skinny Jeans
rated 4 of 5

Even without UD's eye primer, this product doesnt crease. I use it during the day, blend it in with a finger.. esp when I'm too lazy to use/blend-in my powder e/s. it's a metallic grayish taupe with a hint of green. Will buy again!

Misc Beauty Tools -Shu Uemura - Mini Eyelash Curler
rated 1 of 5
shyred05 3/28/2010 9:10:00 PM

I asked my bro in law to buy the normal sized shu uemura curler, even gave him money. That's the last time I ever asked a beauty favour from a guy. He came back with THIS. Ugh, I really tried to like it since there was no sephora yet in vancouver but its just soooo USELESS. Its tiny pad doesnt do anything except if you want to curl your lashes 10x an eye. will never buy again.

I love this pink blush. It is more pigmented than Benefit's Dandelion and gives my skin a healthy glow with just a light swipe.

Mascara -Maybelline - Define A Lash
rated 3 of 5
shyred05 3/21/2010 11:08:00 AM

This really lengthens and defines my lashes!! I love LOVE it. Its the BEST drugstore mascara out there. And believe me, I tried them all... Moreover, it holds the curl!! I apply it with a business card (ala Michelle Phan), then use a lash comb to make my lashes look natural. Would definitely repurchase! UPDATE: I recently noticed that this clumps and makes my lashes look spidery as compared to the natural fullness colossal (my current HG) gives me in just 3 swipes.

Concealers -Make Up For Ever - Lift Concealer
rated 3 of 5
shyred05 3/20/2010 11:33:00 PM

My mom has been using it for awhile now (which probably put me off from buying it then).. but I was tired of having these ugly creases that Benefit's erase paste, boiing, bobbi brown's -all left me with! I did my research and saw how highly rated my mother's MUFE concealer is at Makeup Alley. So, I rushed to the Sephora at Metrotown and tried the MUFE's full cover concealer first. I think it'll be very effective in covering tattoos/scars because of Full Cover's thick consistency but this Lift concealer is just right for undereye shadows. For the price, it has double the amount bobbi brown's concealer has! I'm using #3. Just be careful in selecting your colour, the #'s aren't organized by shade intensity (#1 is the lightest, #3 is light, #2 is darker)... For reference, I wear a NC 25-30, Dior Linen 021, BE light. UPDATE: Think it's too sheer for me. Will not repurchase. My mom and sis are now MUFE Full cover converts. That's what i'm buying next!! only wish it wasnt 36 cdn here.

Concealers -Bobbi Brown - Creamy Concealer
rated 3 of 5
shyred05 3/20/2010 11:26:00 PM

This is just at par with Benefit's Boiing concealer. Have this in Beige. Good enough for my undereye circles but I found that it caked easily. Also, the amount is soo little for the price especially when I compare it to my current HG MUFE's Lift concealer! Won't repurchase.

Blush -MAC - Satin Blush - Apple Red
rated 5 of 5
shyred05 3/20/2010 9:21:00 PM

As the others said, Apple Red is pigmented. My first ever red blush, debated between NARS' Exhibit A and this. This was slightly cheaper so I decided to give this a try. Looks intimidating but with the right brush and light swipe, gives my light Asian skin a healthy flushed look. Only drawback is that its only available at PRO stores (went to the big one along Robson St. after going to two regular MAC stores) and its sold-out online. So far, am happy with my purchase. Will buy again.

Eyeliner -Bobbi Brown - Gel Eyeliner
rated 4 of 5
shyred05 3/12/2010 5:26:00 AM

I had this in Black and Graphite Ink before I discovered the magic of primers.;) It goes on smoothly and has a creamier consistency than Stila's smudge pots. It lasts long too. I would buy again. The only reason I'm not using it now is because I usually buy stuff from Sephora all together.

Eye Shadow -Coastal Scents - 88 colors warm palette
rated 4 of 5
shyred05 3/7/2010 12:23:00 PM

Like the previous reviewer, one of the colours in my warm palette was shattered when i received it. I am happy with my purchase. The shadows are good quality -nice neutral colours and are pigmented. Some are matte, others are glittery. This will last anyone a long time! I will repurchase.

Hair -Unlisted Brand - Futurebiotics Hair, Skin & Nail Vitamins
rated 2 of 5
shyred05 3/6/2010 1:54:00 PM

UPDATE: This caused my skin to break out! I recently had my long hair cut shoulder-length -and I totally regret it!! I did some research for hair vitamins that actually work/have high ratings in the web (amazon, MUA) and-voilla! saw that this was highly recommended. So I drove down south of the border and bought this from Vitamin Shoppe in Bellingham,WA. Bought two 75-capsule bottles for almost 20 usd. I wouldn't recommend this to people who have a hard time swallowing their meds. It comes as these HUGE capsules that have the nastiest smell. Well, I don't mind suffering a bit in order to look good. LOL Anyway, I've been using this for a month already. Close friends have commented that my hair is already longer and the vitamins must be working. Noticed that need to shave more often. I'd recommend this to anyone who wants longer hair faster!! Although like the previous reviewer said, you have to be patient, this isn't an overnight miracle.

Lipstick -MAC - Up The Amp
rated 1 of 5
shyred05 3/4/2010 5:39:00 AM

I went to MAC with "Up the Amp" on top of my shopping list because of all the really high ratings here. I also wanted a new look besides my usual reds. To my disappointment, it was waaaay too lavender for me. Made me look washed out/like a corpse! Good thing I didn't purchase online or else it would be a b*tch to return. If you want to look like Barbie, I suggest a vibrant pink lipstick like MAC's Lickable or Mad About Town. Would not buy this colour EVER!
