Lip Gloss -Estee Lauder - Plastique Red Pure Color Lip Vinyl
rated 5 of 5
shirfene 3/12/2004 7:42:00 AM

The packaging is sooooooooo cuteeeee! This is the first time that I'm buying something because of its gorgeous outlook! I didn't really test the shades at the counter, simply pick Plastique Red at impulse. I thought I would regret for picking Plastique Red because I never liked Red lippies. Sorry but RED lips remind me of clowns. BUT, big fat BUT, Plastique Red is sooooo gorgeous, it is not those RED RED RED. It's rather light and transparent kind of soft red. GORGEOUS GORGEOUS!!! I believe this would be the only red shade that I'd love :P No complaints about EL's Pure Color Lip Vinyl, only that I wish the staying power could be better. Usually comes off after a drink.

Treatments (Eye) -Origins - No Puffery Cooling Mask for Puffy Eyes
rated 3 of 5
shirfene 3/11/2004 10:09:00 AM

30ml, AU$46.

I don't really have puffy eyes, only dark circles and tiny dehydration lines. Only because I'm desperate to get an eye mask, as well as dying to try new products, I bought the new Origins No Puffery eye mask after persuaded by the sweet SA. Well, as I said, I won't be able to tell the effectiveness of this product against puffiness, but I do like the cooling gel texture. Different from other Origins products which are over-scented, this eye mask does not have any similar strong smell. The instruction on the package says 'leave it on for 10-15 minutes and tissue off', but the SA actually told me not to, just leave it on overnight. I followed what she told me to, well, doesn't seem to work well on darkcircles though :)

Masks -Dermalogica - anti-bac cooling masque
rated 3 of 5
shirfene 3/9/2004 7:44:00 AM

This mask stings alot at first, gradually produce a cooling, refreshing, minty sensation later on. Enjoy doing this mask, even though I find it tends to dry out skin a lot. Well, I guess thats what an anti-bac mask should be doing - drying out pimples and reduce oiliness. Got irritating breakouts recently, making me feel like getting an 'acne mask'. Unfortunately, there aren't many anti-bac masks available in the market.

I don't find it to be VERY effective, an OK product. Just apply the glue-like texture on the spots, instead of whole face. Rinse off after 15 minutes. Never ever forget to apply a hydrating moisturiser after the treatment, I use Clinique Moisture Surge Extra. I agree with other reviewers who mentioned that it is not suitable for sensitive skin.

Moisturizers -Paula's Choice - Completely Non-Greasy Moisturizer
rated 2 of 5
shirfene 3/7/2004 8:44:00 AM

Another disappointment from Paula's range other than the Skin recovery cleanser that I've just reviewed. Known as COMPLETELY NON_GREASY MOISTURISING LOTION, I find it to be untrue. It's a bit...erm...heavy...if you know what i mean. It doesn't sink into skin nicely, pretty much like drugstore quality. It smells bad too...

By the way, I really wanna rave about PC's customer service, not only prompt reply but being extremely helpful with product selections. I will continue to be a loyal customer for its some other products, like ONE STEP CLEANSERS. I wish i like this moisturiser though, Oh Well...

Cleansers -Paula's Choice - Skin Recovery Cleanser
rated 3 of 5
shirfene 3/7/2004 7:08:00 AM

I like many other Paula's products, but not this Skin Recovery Cleanser. It's a very clayish cream-form cleanser, and as expected, it would leave a film on face after the wash. Surprisingly, this cleanser removes makeup fairly well, and that is why I'm still rating it with 3 lippies even though I don't like it.

I'd prefer Cetaphil when my skin feels tight and dry. This cleanser just doesn't make me feel comfortable using it. I don't take Paula's opinions on products seriously, as I always believe everyone's skin is different, and each person might prefer particular type of products, each to their own. However, I DO find many Paula's products to be good, excluding this one :P

Moisturizers -Jurlique - Clarifying Day Care Lotion
rated 2 of 5
shirfene 3/1/2004 12:18:00 AM

The only thing I like about this moisturiser is the easy spreadable formula. Nonetheless, it will leave an oily slick, rather than being absorbed. Hate the yellowish oil and Jurlique's signature 'honey-like' scent. Also, known as a DAY CARE face lotion, it doesn't have any SPF. I would not recommend this product to anymore. It's AU$75 for 100ml, quite pricey in my opinion.

Toners -Kose - Medicated Sekkisei
rated 4 of 5
shirfene 2/26/2004 10:15:00 AM

In Asia (particularly Taiwan), Kose Medicated Sekkisei is well known as the 'king of whitening products'. Everyone will tell you to try Kose Medicated Sekkisei whenever you asked for the best whitening product. I took the plunge after listening to all the over-hyped raves. This is actually a toner, but best to be used as a mask. Soak the liquid in compressed mask and leave it on face for 15 minutes. Kose actually sells the custom made compressed mask tablets itself. Bought it in Malaysia, toner - RM229 for 360ml, compressed mask - RM21 for 14 tablets.

It smells really baddd!! The high level of alcohol stings my eyes when i use it as a mask. Also, I wanna complain about the custom-made compressed tablets of Kose, namely 'Kose Lotion Mask'. No good, no good. you might be better off buying some brandless compressed mask tablets from Watsons stores. As for the product itself, YES, it brightened my skin instantly. A very effective product. I use it as a daily toner, and as a mask twice a week. It caused break-outs the first time i use it, but never afterall. A true 'whitening' product for the long run. The scent is probably the worst part of it, wonder if they could reduce the alcohol consistency.

Scrubs -Dermalogica - Daily Microfoliant
rated 3 of 5
shirfene 2/23/2004 8:43:00 AM

74g, AU$73

It's made of some whitish powder that you need to mix with water when using. A super gentle exfoliant with no granule at all. I don't think it is able to exfoliate anything, but definitely gentle enough for everyday use. I don't really like this product coz I'd prefer something that can give me smooth skin after scrubbing. This product is unable to do so unfortunately. By the way, I think it'd be great to be used 3-4 times a week.

Eye Shadow -Clinique - High Impact Eye Shadow duo in Jaded
rated 3 of 5
shirfene 2/23/2004 3:29:00 AM

Clinique's High impact eyeshadows are creaseless and the staying power is good. I don't have to re-apply for wearing whole day. 'Jaded' is a duo in dark green and a lighter green. I like the light green better, coz it's shinier. The darker one is a bit dull. I like 'green eyes' very much, but would prefer Estee Lauder Pure Color Mint Ice, pricier, but better. I would definitely repurchase High Impact Eyeshadows, but probably not in 'Jaded' again.

Gels/Soaps -Caudalie - Bath and Shower Gel
rated 3 of 5
shirfene 2/19/2004 8:14:00 AM

To be honest, I can never tell a difference between high-end and low-end shower gels, well, other than the scent though. AU$25 for a 200ml tube isn't that expensive actually, BUT, it lathers and cleanses exactly the same as a Palmolive or Radox shower gel. I like it, but would prefer to spend a little more on Origins bath products, or maybe just stick to lower priced shower gels, like The Body Shop's ones. And also, it's very runny.

Shampoo -Caudalie - Gentle Conditioning Shampoo
rated 4 of 5
shirfene 2/19/2004 8:06:00 AM

200ml, AU$25.

This is really a nice shampoo, leaving hair feeling soft. I love Caudalie's signature scent, i get compliments about how good my hair smells after using this shampoo ;) I don't even need to apply conditioner while using this shampoo, just leave-in spray afterall. I'm also impressed with the affordable price, the quality of the product worths every cent that I paid.

Scrubs -Origins - Never A Dull Moment Skin Brightening Facial Polisher
rated 4 of 5
shirfene 2/18/2004 1:47:00 PM

Never a Dull Moment®
Skin-brightening face polisher with fruit enzymes

I love Never a Dull moment range so muchhhhh. I use the body cleanser, facial cleanser and this facial scrub. Love the scent soooooooo muchhhhhh. This face polisher is very very gentle that i doubt it exfoliates properly. The texture is a little hard to spread, and arghhhhh...the packaging! unhygienic and hate to scoop! BUT, yes, biased i know, it's one of those products that you love using when you feel like pampering yourself. I see no harm from using it, did not dry out my skin or anything. Since it brightens my days whenever i use it, i'd love to repurchase it again and again.

Shampoo -Kerastase - Bain Satin 2 Shampoo
rated 5 of 5
shirfene 2/17/2004 5:25:00 AM

I have oily scalp but damaged long hair. I need something like a clarifying and lathering shampoo, but must not be harsh that further damage my dry ends. I thought Redken So Long would be good, but the low lathering formula does not clean very well, leaving my hair looks greasy and dirty all the time. If you have the same concern as I do, I'd say this Kerastase Satin Bath 2 is a perfect shampoo. I like how it foams up, but ain't harsh at all. Also loving the light scent it has got. So far the best shampoo I've discovered, will be repurchasing until I found a better one. AU$24.50 for 250ml

Sunscreen -Caudalie - SPF 12 Day Fluid
rated 3 of 5
shirfene 2/5/2004 2:24:00 AM

A very light day cream. As claimed to be an anti-ageing product, thought the texture should be thicker and richer?Smell nice but depressed by the low SPF 12 and slight white cast. I don't mind using it as a light moisturiser during summer time, but not as a daily protection cream. Comes in small 30ml tube with choking price (AU$98). Not recommended.

Masks -Dermalogica - Skin Hydrating Masque
rated 4 of 5
shirfene 2/4/2004 8:32:00 AM

I converted to Dermalogica after trying the fabulous Special Cleansing Gel, and I'm surprised how good this line is. Skin Hydrating Masque is another good product, superior for combo skin. You won't find it good if you have dry skin I believe, it isn't moisturising/hydrating enough. After scrubbing with one of the Dermalogica's scrub, I apply this hydrating mask. To my surprise, it's actually a 'sinking' mask, it was absorbed by skin after 5 minutes. I even leave it overnight without rinsing and my skin glows. Very impressed indeed. 74ml, AU$53.
