Blush -LORAC - Pink
psmitty 6/24/2011 6:52:00 AM
Sad to bring the ratings down, especially since I love Lorac blushes- they are one of the few cheek products my skin tolerates and I love the shades. This one, unfortunately, was too orangey-pink for my very pale yellow skin. Strange, since most reviewers found the opposite. Most barbie pinks work well. This just makes me look like I'm embarassed or have irritated skin rather than sporting a healthy flush. Too bad! At least I have Desire and Rose, which I love.

Eyeliner -Make Up For Ever - Aqua eyes waterproof eyeliner pencil

Not impressed! I bought this in the dark grey shade and am disappointed- there is minimal color payoff. I can smear it while pressing hard and it just makes a blotchy light grey line. What a waste!

Bronzers -St.Tropez - Self Tan Bronzing Mousse
psmitty 6/6/2011 3:37:00 PM
Sadly, this was a no for me for various reasons: -it stains like crazy -it looks orangey on my pale skin -it does not blend easily even after exfoliation -the top leaks -it transfers -even a day later, if a drop water runs down my leg, a light line occurs I MUCH prefer Lancome Flash Bronzer for its transfer-proof formula, even application and dependability.

Powder -Giorgio Armani - Lasting Silk UV Compact Foundation
psmitty 6/5/2011 8:35:00 AM
Very nice, long-lasting , medium-coverage powder, however the shades are too limited. 3 was too pink and 3.5 is too dark for my pale yellow skin. I noticed the darker shades seemed limited too. New shades would make this excellent. The Holt Renfrew rep in Toronto insisted it was oil-free- I was devasted after spending so much to learn that it contains hydrogenated palm oil. Surprisingly, though, it doesn't break out my extremely sensitive skin. Phew! If the shades were more extensive, I'd give this a 5.I love the UV protection, look, and ease of use. Hope Armani listens, as this seems to be a common complaint! UPDATE: Sadly, this ended up breaking me out. Hydrogenated palm oil is considered moderately comedogenic. Shame on the SA who sold it to me as oil-free. For sensitive skin, maybe ask to test it out for a day if you can.

Lip Gloss -NARS - Scandal
psmitty 6/2/2011 3:43:00 PM
My favourite Nars gloss consistency- thicker, long-lasting and even pigments. Same as my all-time fave Easy Lover. Unfortunately, this sheer red doesn't work with my pale yellow skin and dark hair. Most reds look great, but this shade makes me look sallow and ashy. I wish it were slightly more blue-toned. Rose Ghitane is a perfect shade, but is more watery and doesn't last as long. Really wish it worked!

Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - Reversa

Another great product from Reversa. Its an oil-free, 8% glycolic acid lotion with SPF 15. It spreads nicely and you only need a small amount. I need to blot once after it settles it, but I'm shine-free all day afterwards. The "time release" properties of the GA do seem to limit irritation, as my sensitive skin doesn't react or even turn red with this. My skin is clearer and smoother even after a few weeks. Although the price even on sale seems high (around $30), it's very high quality and will last a long time. Its only available in Canadian stores, but can be purchased online. I also highly recommend the UV eye cream! UPDATE: unfortunately, after some time of use, this did make me very oily. I'd recommend this as a winter product

Treatments (Eye) -Unlisted Brand - Reversa - UV Anti-Wrinkle Eye Contour Cream
psmitty 5/8/2011 10:32:00 PM
Wow, excellent product for sensitive eyes! This should be irritating with glycolic acid and sunscreen, but it doesn't bother me at all. It is oil-free and non-comedogenic, but moisturizing. My trusty Shiseido eye sunscreen started to make my eyes itch and run, as did La Roche Posay and other options. This is comparable in price and is often on sale. Too early to comment on line reduction, but will update. Highly recommend! UPDATE:The best I've ever used- no milia, reduction in fine lines and puffiness and no irritation whatsoever. I use it twice a day now and am very pleased.

Deodorants -Secret - Clinical Strength
psmitty 5/8/2011 12:50:00 PM
This is for the Sport version. Its the only anti-perspirant that works for me. I've tried everything from L'Occitane, Degree, Clarins- this keeps me dry and fresh even in the most humid weather. I've been using this for about a year and one stick lasts for ages. My only gripe is that its not invisible on black fabrics, but its not too obvious. Usually, even the most expensive anti-perspirants stop working halfway through the day. This one is still working the next day. Highly recommend!

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Reversa - 8 percent Glycolic Acid solution for Oily and Acne-prone Skin
psmitty 5/2/2011 3:39:00 PM
Very nice product! This is great for acne-prone, but sensitive skin. I bought this on sale at Shoppers for around $25. I needed a product to even my tone and reduce blackheads. As I love Neostrata products, but had some sensitivity issues, I was skeptical. I can use this twice a day with NO dryness, irritation or redness- amazing. The "time-release" glycolic acid seems to limit irritation issues, however provides the same results. My skin looks smoother and clearer after a week.I highly recommend this product and will purchase it again when its on sale. Used with Etival clarifying cleanser, my skin is clear and never dry.

Blush -Lancome - Blush Subtil in Aplum
psmitty 5/1/2011 9:24:00 PM
Love this stuff! The last blush subtil I purchased caused breakouts (believe the shade was Cedre). I was concerned about this one, particularly because it has bismuth oxychloride in it. Surprisingly, no breakouts, just natural, long-lasting color. I have very pale yellow skin and dark hair- this shade is the perfect subtle purpley-pinky and its still there after a long work day. Highly recommend!

Lip Treatments -Burt's Bees - Tinted Lip Balm
psmitty 4/18/2011 11:06:00 PM
Nice consistency and feel, but what gives with the lack of pigment? I have Red Dahlia, which looks dark red, but has no payoff or visibility on my lips. I'm very pale, but have pigmented lips- this is barely perceptible on them. I expected better. And the cardboard tube is a waste.

Unfortunately, its full of oil and not wearable for my sensitive skin. If oil and bismuth oxychloride break you out, try Cover Fx Radiant Fx.

Liquid -Sephora - Perfecting Cover Foundation
psmitty 3/27/2011 8:05:00 AM
It looks natural, blends well and lasts in dry conditions, but unfortunately runs like milk off my face with water or moisture. Glad it was a sample! I'm outside frequently in rain, snow, heat and humidity and play sports. I can't imagine my foundation running off in white rivers! Sure this happens with many foundations, but I'll stick with my Diorskin Forever powder.

Lip Gloss -NARS - Female Trouble
psmitty 3/25/2011 9:25:00 PM
Absolutely amazing! Easy Lover is my constant pocket buddy, but I was looking for a neutral, brownish shade. I have pigmented lips and pale skin, so most nude shades look awful. This is incredible- brownish, mauvish shimmery nude that looks great. Its so non-sticky, moisturizing and long-lasting. I actually like the functional, plasticy taste, as I lick off yummy ones. This one is above and beyond any other glosses I've tried and I'll repurchase.I agree with the previous reviewer that it transforms your look.

Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - Etival Clarifying Calming Oil-Control Lotion
psmitty 3/25/2011 7:39:00 AM
Another incredible product from the Etival Clarifying line. I rarely use an entire product line, but all of them are excellent. I have 30-year-old very sensitive, combination skin that can be acne prone with many products. Usually oil-control product make me more dry, which in turn produces more oil. This one is the only lotion that gets the right balance- moisturizes with SPF, yet has significantly reduced my blotting from up to 10x per day to 1. I use the Gentle Clarifying Cleanser and this for daytime, then the cleanser and the Oil-Free Care Cream,Rederm eye cream and Clear Spot Relief Lotion at night. I bought the items on sale at Shoppers for around $17 and under during a points day, which for the quality is very reasonable. Department store products weren't working and were too expensive for my budget. I had a terrible breakout from Kiehl's and Neutrogena- with this routine, my skin was clear within 2 weeks, less dry and less oily. Can't recommend enough, hope Shoppers continues with this!
