Makeup Brushes -Everyday Minerals - Long handled Kabuki
oohollyoo 7/4/2008 10:35:00 AM
i really liked bare minerals long handled kabuki but i never thought em brush would be sooo much softer. 10 bucks if you buy it alone but if you get a makeup kit it is only 5 dollars. the coverage w/ this makeup is moderate and is applied better than em flat top brush. it is easier to get in between the creases of your nose w/ this.
very easy to blend. last pretty long. huge color selections. i can wear buttered tan and natural med beige. some blushes i've tried.. APPLE: looks like a matte pink but turns orangey after a couple of hrs. PHOTO ALBUM: only need to apply a little. very nice rasberry color w/ shimmer. NICK NACK: soft matte pink very light. can never over apply this. i almost wanna say its too light for me but it gives me a little natural pink glow. PLUM DUST: my fave. its not plummy.. its like a rasberry/ dark pinky color love it on me theres no brown or orange in it and its not dark like how it sounds or looks online.
Lipstick -Clinique - Long Last Soft Shine - Creamy Nude
oohollyoo 6/21/2008 4:05:00 PM
nude pink kinda burnt orange. good for tan skin. better if lipgloss is applied on top for more even color and lustress lips. i would repurchase this but luckily i found a cheaper versionsof it. new york color lipstick in "mousse". for 2 bucks.i swear they are the same lip stick.
nice light pink w/ some gold sparkles. good alone or on top of lipstick. makes my lips soft not sticky or gooey. hair will stick w/ harsh winds blowing but not too bad like other lipglosses. the light vanilla smell is pleasant. much better than clinique's lipglosses which caused sticky, flaky lips and smells bad.
Powder -Everyday Minerals - Pressed Powder in Fairly Light Golden
oohollyoo 6/21/2008 3:56:00 PM
i am an nc 30-35. i can wear buttered tan and natural medium beige. i am so disappointed that this is the darkest shade in pressed powder they have. i bought two of these and i can not wear it. it's too light. i applied it w/ a sponge and brush and it looks thick defines lines and bumps on my face. the packaging sucks... the powder can break easily. will not buy again.
Powder -Everyday Minerals - Foundation - Intensive formula [DISCONTINUED]
oohollyoo 6/21/2008 3:53:00 PM
i almost gave up on mineral makeup until i tried the intensive formula in buttered tan. i have an oily t zone w/ acne prone skin and live in 90 degree weather in hot humid dallas. i had to apply the tinted silk dust before and after and used the flat top em brush for the foundation. i still get this shine around my nose after 1 hr but not greasey. after 8hrs it looks like i still have some coverage w/ a shiney nose but a little touch up fixes that. my blemishes have reappeared although i use their concealers. i can not find the best powder foundation w/ healthy ingrediants so i'll settle for this for now. shipping has gone up to 7 dollars : ( i have already broken out in little bumps on my body and face so i dont think this caused any break outs or made anything worse. EDIT: AFTER USING THIS FOR 2 MONTHS I REALIZED MY CLOGGED PORES, WHITE AND BLACK HEADS ARE FROM EM BUTTURED TAN AND TINTED SILK POWDER. I HAVE DISCONTINUED IT AND MY SKIN LOOKS MUCH BETTER. NOW I AM BACK TO EL DOUBLE WEAR LIGHT AND MAKE UP FOREVER LOOSE POWDER. I STILL HAVE 2 UNOPENED TINTED SILK POWDER AND 1 BUTTERED TAN FOUNDATION BC I BOUGHT A BIG KIT.
i normally use estee lauder's automatic brow pencil but it keeps breaking off and didnt last long for the money. i bought rimmels eye brow pencil for 1 .49 in hazel and it blends well w/ my brows. it fills in w/o looking harsh. perfect shade for my brown/dark blonde highlights. i went back to repurchase another one since it was a great sale.
Liquid -Estee Lauder - Double Wear LIGHT Foundation SPF10
oohollyoo 3/30/2008 3:05:00 PM
after my bad mineral makeup stage i converted back to liquid foundation. i really do like this foundation. it last all day and doesn't look like a mask like the original double wear. i set it w/ powder and it last all day. it doesn't break me out if i don't sleep in it. one time i fell asleep accidently and i woke up w/ little bumps. otherwise this is the best thing i have found... so far..
I tried BE and it had little coverage w/ a sheen. through reviews i tried EM and the color match was great. i used the matte but it didn't appear to be matte at all. i had an shiny t-zone and by the end of the day it looked like i had nothing on. Soooo i tried alima. the coverage is better but unfortunately theres a sheen. i want a natural matte look and i cant seem to find it in mineral makeup.. i give up.. now i going back to liquid foundation oh by the way theres no point in cheap mineral makeup they all have way more ingredients in it than just five. read all the labels before you purchase for example: maybelines have synthetic wax in theirs.
Powder -Everyday Minerals - Foundation Matte Formula
oohollyoo 3/12/2008 6:51:00 PM
i recently rec'd my free sample kit. through the reviews i ordered the buttered tan, natural med beige, and winged butter incase the rest were too dark. im fair-med nc 30-35 in mac. i am happy to say natural med beige is a perfect match and buttered tan was a tad off. the matte foundation is not extremeley matte, it looks and feel semi-matte which is ok for my combo skin. i still have my bare minerals kit but i think i will be ordering this from now on . i hate that sheen that bare minerals have. im not returning it only bc of the brushes edit: after a wk i noticed i needed to reapply pretty often and the makeup did not last all day or even 5 hrs. so i will not be repurchasing.
i have combo skin w/ occ. breakouts. light had had some golden tones that matched my nc 30-35 skin. the medium/ med beige was too peachy or orangey. the makeup artist at ulta thinks everyone is a medium if they are not caucasian until i switched the foundation to prove to her i was lighter. bare minerals is expensive and doesnt last all day. there is always shine that makes me look like ive been sweating. that natural glow stuff is a bs. i converted to everyday minerals and it is much cheaper, the color selection is better, theres a selection on skin type and i chose the matte foundation in natural beige med (looks lighter in person). and it matched perfectly without the sheen. since mineral makeup w/ either or my skin has cleared up.
this foundation has nice blendable texture. it is medium-full coverage. doesn't get oily or break me out. i have acnes prone oily t zone skin and its 100 degrees outside now in dallas and my makeup looks great. I use the virtual matte pressed powder over to illumunate any shine i dont even need to touch up my makeup even after 8 hrs of work. the best makeup ever the color match in fresh gold its perfect for my nc 35 yellow tone skin and the color doesnt change if you sweat.
Foundations -Chanel - Pro Lumiere Professional Finish Make-Up ] [DISCONTINUED]
oohollyoo 6/22/2007 9:47:00 AM
it says it's oil-free and semi matte but its so thick and oily.. it looked like i had vaseline on my face.. gross. i never have luck with chanel cosmetics.
soft sand was a great match for me im an nc35 in mac. bobbi brown doesnt have a powder foundation and this was a light coverage powder. after a couple of hours i noticed my tzone getting very oily and i had to keep reapplying 2-3 a day which i hate. clinique's perfectly real in 118 and max factor's fair ivory (darker than what it sounds) powder foundation i just apply i time in the morning with a brush and it stays on all day maybe i touch up on my nose after 6 hrs. sooo much better
