Lip Gloss -Maybelline - Wet Diamonds Liquid-ALL
rated 4 of 5

I got these little suckers on sale for $2.80 at Walgreens and I had a $1 off coupon as well. I really like these glosses. However, if you don't like glitter, they're probably not for you. I have 6 different colors and all of them have glitter in them. I do love that they're sheer and not very thick; there's nothing i hate more than thick sticky lipgloss. I, personally, love the packaging. I'm usually a MAC freak and these are the exact same size as lipglass, but with a silver cap. Some might not like the smell because they really don't smell like anything, but I don't buy lipgloss for the smell. I buy it to add a little something over my lipstick and these do a perfect job of doing that. I would buy these again simply because i love the color payoff and i adore the selection of colors. Who knows, i might just go back today and buy a few more.

Cleansers -Yes To Carrots - Can You C Me? Eye and Face makeup remover
rated 5 of 5
masqued_dreamer 1/2/2008 9:49:00 PM

This is a fantastic product! I've never found a makeup remover to take off my face makeup so well. It's moderately priced at $9.99 and only available at walgreens. It comes in an 8.5 oz bottle and lasts a really long time. one great thing about this stuff is the smell. It's not overly fragrant like some similar products. It really does take off all of my makeup, even the blacker than black mascara. If this product has one drawback, it's that some people might not like the smell. I find it very nice, but some people might think that it smells a little strange, it does have carrot juice and sweet potato extract in it, after all. Oh and my absolute favorite thing about this product is that it's not tested on animals!

Highlighters -MAC - Beauty Powder Loose in Micro Pink
rated 4 of 5
masqued_dreamer 11/30/2007 2:35:00 AM

This product is a MAC Pro product, but should be available to the masses. It's not exactly spectacular, but just like your run of the mill loose highlighting face powder. The color is a very pale shimmery pink. It gives you the glowy look without the glitter that makes you look like a disco ball. My only real issue with this product is the pigmentation. I wish it showed up on me a bit more pink and a little less shimmer.

Eyes -MAC - Paint Pot in Bare Study
rated 3 of 5
masqued_dreamer 10/30/2007 10:57:00 AM

let me start by saying i love the idea of the paint pots. I have 4 of them so i normally like how they apply, but bare canvas just doesn't do anything for me. It doesn't really make my shadows pop like Rubenesque does. IT's just a blah color for my skin tone and i would not purchase it again. I just don't like the consistancy of the bare study. It just doesn't go on my eyelid as smoothly as some of the other ones.

Makeup Brushes -MAC - Holiday 2007 Heirlooms: 4 Face Brushes
rated 5 of 5
masqued_dreamer 10/30/2007 10:50:00 AM

First I'd like to state how disappointed i was with the last brush set i bought. I bought patternmaker brushes in summer '06 and they don't even compare. The Heirloom brushes are as soft and high quality as my full sized MAC brushes. The reason i bought them was for the 187SE and it's just as soft and full as my full sized 187. I compared the other three brushes in the set to their patternmaker counterparts and they don't even compare. The Heirloom brushes are twice as soft and better put together. Even when looking at the two 168s, you can see an immediate difference in the quality of the hair. IF you need face brushes, buy this set. It's a great deal at $48. If you include the bag it comes with as a component of the set, you're only paying $9.60 per brush, which is significantly less than the fuller sized brushes, but you still get the same professional quality. Speaking of the bag, it's a beautiful cream colored bag with gold threading and a snap-like closure. It's a great size for a makeup bag and i just love the detail over the top of the bag. This set made me want to chuck my pattern maker brushes out the window!

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast
rated 5 of 5
masqued_dreamer 10/22/2007 11:35:00 PM

I got this when i exchanged Define-a-lash, and i must say it's a GREAT mascara! I am currently Using MAC's Plush Lash and this mascara gives me the exact same look, which i love! I love the wet formula and the fact that the mascara doesn't flake off my lashes. If you're looking for a mascara for volume, try this mascara. I promise you won't be disappointed. Out of all of the Mascara with the flexible anti-clump brush, this is by far my favorite. I have to say though that the packaging it a bit weird since it's a bit fat orange tube. I guess i can overlook that when the quality of the product is fabulous.

Mascara -Maybelline - Great Lash Mascara
rated 2 of 5
masqued_dreamer 10/13/2007 12:49:00 PM

Glamour, Allure, and Cosmo have all given this mascara great reviews and awards to boot. My question for them is what in the hell are you smoking? This mascara does not lengthen, does not curl, and certainly doesn't give any volume. It also flakes off pretty horribly and leaves my lashes clumpy every time i use it. I'll stick to my Plush Lash, thank you very much. Maybelline is usually known for their mascara, but this one is jut awful.

Other -MAC - Mixing Medium Water Based
rated 5 of 5
masqued_dreamer 10/13/2007 12:40:00 PM

I love my mixing medium! I've tried it with both Pigments and glitters and it works beautifully to adhere to the skin with both. Pigments come to life with mixing medium. Yesterday i wore all girl, blue storm and vanilla and they made everything so much more vibrant than with just using UDPP and paint as a base. I would highly recommed this product to anyone who uses pigments and/or glitters. It's a must have for every makeup artist or makeup junkie. I don't know how i survived so long without this item in my kit! Price: $15 USD

Mascara -MAC - Plush Lash
rated 4 of 5
masqued_dreamer 10/5/2007 12:02:00 PM

First of all, i must say i've tried every single one of MAC's Mascaras only to be disappointed. Plush Lash was different. The first thing i noticed was how incredible the brush was. One side is flat while the other is a very large brush deemed to build volume. If you start with the flat side at the base of the lash and twirl as you go up, you get some great volume without clumping. Now, if you're looking for a lengthening mascara, this probably isn't for you. Fortunately i use a lengthening primer before applying my mascara. Even over my primer, this mascara does not clump. To me $11 really isn't that pricey if you want a good mascara and this is a good mascara. I have yet to see it flake off or smudge. We'll see how fast it clumps in the tube though.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Eye Shadow
rated 4 of 5
masqued_dreamer 10/5/2007 11:49:00 AM

Okay. I've been using MAC cosmetics for almost 2 years now and i can't see how the eye shadows make you look like a clown or a whore as another reviewer stated. Yes, pigmentation is high, but usually that's a good thing. If you apply it correctly, you can get some beautiful neutral looks. The only problem i see with mac eyeshadows is the size. They are quite small compared to some of the other high end brands, but they're also a few dollars cheaper than most of the high end brands. you're paying $14 per eyeshadow ($10.50 if you're like me and love palettes). Other brands can range from $16-$30, depending on the brand, but you do get more product. I do love the color selection of MAC, no other brand has that aside from NYX, in my opinion.

Eyeliner -L'Oreal - HiP Color Truth Cream Eyeliner
rated 5 of 5
masqued_dreamer 7/7/2007 12:47:00 AM

I heard how great this eyeliner was so i went over to my local CVS and picked it up in Eggplant. These cream eyeliners retail for $11.99 and are worth every penny. I put it on at 2:30 when i was about to go to work and here it is almost midnight and it hasn't budged one bit. I would have to say that the only drawback is that little brush that comes with it. I personally don't feel that it's a suitable eyeliner brush, more for brows than anything. i was hoping a drugstore line would come out with the gel eyeliner and they finally did! I don't think i'll be going back to fluidlines any time soon. These cream eyeliners are just perfect! Update: I purchased this in every color available. The only problem i have is that they dry out horribly if you accidently leave them out, but that is easily remedied with fix+ just like MAC fluidlines. I don't understand the low ratings some give them. I've done every test imaginable and the HIP version has always lasted longer on my skin than the fluidlines. Maybe it doesn't stay as well on oily skin, i really don't know since i have pretty dry skin.

Powder -Everyday Minerals - Foundation Original Glo Formula
rated 2 of 5
masqued_dreamer 6/30/2007 2:44:00 PM

I know a lot of people rave about how great everyday minerals is so i tried it. Lets face it, BE is a little expensive so i tried to take the cheaper route with EM. Sorry, but BE is 100% better. EM did not provide me with enough coverage at all. I use BE because it makes my skin look flawless while not looking cakey at all. I tried the sample kit and i bought fair medium, fairly light, and multi-tasking foundation in both the original glo and intensive formulas. Neither one provided me with very much coverage. It just basically looked like i had a loose powder on my face, not mineral makeup. I understand that some people are allergic to the Bismuth Oxychloride in bare minerals, which makes their face itch. If you have this issue, by all means don't use bare minerals, use everyday minerals. But for those of us who like that flawless finish that bare minerals gives and those of us who are not allergic to it, bare minerals gives a better coverage than everyday minerals. I do, however, like the EM blushes. I god the one called soft touch and it's perfect for those of us with fair to light skin. If you are thinking about getting everyday minerals, i would suggest getting the sample kit first just to test out formulas and shades that may work for you. I've had 3 or 4 different sample kits and nothing i have purchase worked for me. It's better to waste $3.50 on shipping than a lot more money on full size products only to see that they don't work for you. Yet another thing i didn't like about EM was the texture of the foundation powder. It feels more like a powder than Bare Minerals. Bare Minerals has this creamy texture, whereas everyday minerals felt very chalky against my skin. This product has just proven to me that you get what you pay for.

Powder -Bare Escentuals - Bare Minerals #1
rated 4 of 5
masqued_dreamer 6/23/2007 7:38:00 AM

Bare Minerals was a great product for me. It gave me just the right amount of coverage and is very quick and easy to use. If applied properly, it will give you a beautiful, natural complexion. I've been using the product for almost a year and have never gotten a reaction or irritation from it. It actually helped clear up some of my dry skin issues. When i wear this foundation, i usually have to using blotting powder once or twice a day for shine, but otherwise it stays pretty well. I would recommend buying the kit on bareminerals.com and being enrolled in the bare minerals club. Yes, the kit is $60, but it's worth it. If you buy online now, you get 4 brushes, 2 foundations, warmth, mineral veil, an eyeshadow, and face radiance.... not a bad deal. You're also enrolled in the bare minerals club which offers you 2 new jars of foundation and a jar of mineral veil every 2 months (or whenever you choose) for $40.. That's not bad considering the foundation alone is $25 and the mineral veil is $19.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Helium Pigment
rated 4 of 5
masqued_dreamer 3/27/2007 6:15:00 PM

I really like this pigment, actually. I do have kitschmas and while it's comparable to the texture, the color is a lot different. It does remind me of pink opal, but has a bit brighter of a reflection. Overall, i really like it, but it's very comparable to some other mac pigments.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Cream Color Base in Fuchsia Perfect
rated 5 of 5
masqued_dreamer 1/30/2007 11:00:00 PM

love this product. I use it as an eyeshadow, cheek highlighter and lipgloss. It's so versatile and a very beautiful bright pink color. It's a bit ligher than i thought, but it's perfect. At $16.50, it's not terrible expensive, but not terribly cheap. I would no doubt recommend it for anyone who loves to wear pretty pinks!
