Cleansers -Burt's Bees - Facial Cleansing Towelettes
lulu94 10/1/2012 6:34:00 PM
Oh so disappointed in these. :( I LOVE burt's so I snatched these up at my local walgreens on a whim. I've never used makeup remover wipes but I thought it might help at night when I'm feeling lazy. These don't seem to remove makeup super effectively, and they STING my face! I do not have particularly sensitive skin, I'm allergic to laundry detergent/softener but have never had a reaction to any facial product before, so I didn't think to purchase the sensitive skin type. I find the stinging/burning sensation so unpleasant that even if they removed all my makeup in one swipe, would not repurchase. 2 lippies though for the snap-close package and the scent is nice I suppose.
This was the first natural non-antiperspirant deodorant I tried. I still use it - in combination with my lavanila deodorant. I found that this does a pretty good job of deodorizing. But if I was especially active, or just by the end of a long day, I would start to get a little stinky. My boyfriend made sure to tell me so lol. Underneath the lavanila though (vanilla lavender scent), I stay confidently fresh all day. It is a bit of a pain in the butt to put on in the morning because I have to plan the rest of my morning routine around my deodorant, which is a little absurd, ha. It just takes sooo long to dry - I apply this and then apply all of my makeup and straighten and curl my hair before it is close to drying. Then when it is dry or almost dry I apply the lavanila and then get dressed. So yeah it is a bit of a pain but it is worth it to not worry about stinking and not be contaminating a sensitive area of my body with poison/blocking sweat from releasing those poisons.
Moisturizers -Alba Botanica - Hawaiian Aloe & Green Tea Oil Free Moisturizer
lulu94 10/1/2012 6:16:00 PM
I purchased this moisturizer because it was oil-free and organic. I do try to stick to organic/natural products if they are the type of product that will be absorbed by my body/not rinsed off... i.e., moisturizer, body lotion, deodorant, etc. I had really high hopes for this, and it does do a great job of moisturizing, and a little goes a LONG way so it isn't actually that pricey for the amount you get, but it's just a little too heavy for me personally. If i use too much, I do break out. Sadface. :(
Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Unite Eurotherapy 7 Seconds Leave In Detangler
lulu94 10/1/2012 6:13:00 PM
Oh, UNITE 7 seconds leave-in, how I love you. This is, without a doubt, HG-never-anything-better-detangler. It leaves my hair so soft and silky and shiny with just a couple sprays on wet, washed hair. I could use absolute crap shampoo and no conditioner and this would take care of it in a snap. I have already repurchased several times although it is heinously expensive. I may try the healthy sexy hair leave in next for a more budget-friendly alternative, but seriously, if you are OK spending the extra $, GET THIS STUFF. It's one of the VERY few products I would deem 'miraculous'. UPDATE: Okay, I tried to find a replacement. I tried four other detanglers/leave-ins since my travel size of UNITE ran out and nothing compares....So I bit the bullet and purchased the full-size of this. now I'm happy. :)
Well... The color works great on my skin, blends like a dream when I apply it with my real techniques stippling brush, and provides a decent amount of coverage for my clear skin w/ some redness (thats all I really need covered). The problem is the darn shimmer. It's not too noticeable in most lights, but I just really don't like not knowing if I do or do not look like I've got fairy dust all over my face at any given moment; also even when I wash all my makeup off, the next morning my face STILL SHIMMERS. I do not like sparkle on my face, especially permanent sparkle. therefore I will not repurchase. But LOVE the pump and it does a decent job of medium coverage on my skin.
I really like this powder. I have not been able to find a decent powder that I'd repurchase before this one. I was hoping this was a bit more full-coverage; it provides fair to medium coverage on my clear, but somewhat unevenly toned (redness) skin. On good days I wear it alone, most days over a medium-coverage liquid foundation, and atop liquid foundation the finish is pretty flawless. I don't find it to be cakey although it does seem to enhance any dry patches you may have, so be sure to moisturize accordingly. It lasts a decent amount of time, although if I'm sweating a lot I may need to reapply. I love the packaging, very travel-friendly and secure, you can chuck it in your bag and not worry about it. The sponge applicator works well, so does a good kabuki brush for a more natural look/setting foundation. Overall, great product, and for the price I got it for online, I'll buy again.
I love this mask. I don't really have all that troublesome of skin, I'm pretty lucky to get blemishes rarely. But I'm a sucker for a tingly mint feeling/a nice pampering product, so I bought this. I have not seen any miraculous results, but I do repurchase it regularly because it feels SO nice on my skin (VERY tingly- so if you're sensitive to that, beware..) and I do notice somewhat smaller pores/softer skin. It is messy to apply and remove, so I usually apply 15 minutes before I plan on hopping in the shower, let it dry, then remove in the shower to avoid a mess around my sink. I use this apps. twice a week simply because it's a little expensive; it's not drying to me at all. Overall, not a miracle product, but I like it anyway.
Blush -Bare Escentuals - Warmth All Over Face Color
lulu94 9/20/2012 3:25:00 PM
Let me start by saying, I am super pale. Like, whitest of the white, and very cool/pinky toned. I did not purchase this; I got it from a friend. I didn't really think it would work for me because it looks so dark and somewhat muddy...Not good for a snow white face. But I was pleasantly surprised. Come summer after a trip to california I actually managed to get a tan a little bit and my foundation became too light. I tried this out with a VERY light hand, and it totally brought the "warmth" back into my face! This has been the only "bronzer" product I've ever been able to use without looking ridiculous/fake/orange. Just make sure you use a very, very light hand and build up as necessary so you don't end up looking like you've got dirt smudged on your face. I will probably purchase next summer.
Holy Grail mascara! I don't buy it every time I run out because it is pricey. But it works sooo well. Lengthens like a dream without clumps. And it truly is super black - I hate it when I buy a mascara in black and it comes out more...charcoaley. I get compliments on my lashes when I wear it, and honestly without mascara, they're nothing special. My only complaint is that the formula does take a while to dry so be careful not to smudge.
Scrubs -St. Ives - Apricot Scrub Blemish and Blackhead Control
lulu94 9/20/2012 3:19:00 PM
I have used this product for years, basically ever since I started washing my face with a "real" cleanser. It works great for my skin. Perfect texture for everyday exfoliation and keeps my face nice & clear. It seems like every time I get "bored" with it and try something else, I pretty much return to this before I can even finish the bottle of whatever else I try. It's a nice, basic, and cost-effective cleanser for my normal (yet finicky- if I am at all inconsistent in my routine I do begin to break out) skin.
Pretty color. On me, it's just a nice, moderate, cool-toned pink. It has some mauve undertones for sure, but it is not as mauve as I expected. I am not a huge fan of the lustre finish, it's sheer and doesn't stay at all. But it doesn't dry out my lips and it smells nice. Also the color goes with lots of different looks, so I do wear this on a fairly regular basis. I like it, don't love it. Hopefully I'll find a revlon super lustrous shade that's similar so I won't have to repurchase.
Toners -Thayers - Rose Petal Alcohol Free Witch Hazel
lulu94 9/20/2012 3:12:00 PM
I was about to bite the price bullet and buy a lush toner with my next online order when I stumbled upon this alcohol-free natural toner in my local market's natural cosmetic section...I thought, it's all natural, and cheaper for a greater amount of product, why not? I wanted something that would be moisturizing and help me use less/be able to distribute my moisturizer better because I tend to use too much moisturizer and give myself zits that way. I transferred some of the toner into a mini spray bottle and spritz a couple sprays on my face after cleansing. It works AWESOME. It does not break me out and makes my face super soft! Also, I quite like the smell, for a toner anyway. I wouldn't wear it as a perfume or anything but for an effective facial product, the rose smell is pleasant enough. I would/have recommended this to a friend and will repurchase.
