Cleansers -Clean & Clear - Morning Burst Facial Cleanser

Nice general soap, I'd imagine, for people with normal skin. Has a nice smell, foams well and tingles slightly. No irritation and all my makeup came off. I have sensitve, acne-prone skin and I didn't break out after using this. I'd really recommend for someone who doesn't wear a lot of makeup and doesn't want any harsh chem's like triclosan or salicylic acid.
Misc Beauty Tools -Sephora - Professional Dual Pencil Sharpener
jomia23 9/6/2007 5:48:00 AM
It does not sharpen any kind of pencil smoothly. It's like grinding coffee...BY HAND. Like that the cover really covers all orifices and escape routes so no pieces of color or wood can dirty one's makeup area or bag. I think Revlon's is betta.
This stuff sells 2 for $3 at my local Walgreens, so not even a glimmer of a thought to possibly try this out ever entered my mind... ..until I read the reviews on MUA. Man, I think I like it as much as my NYC Waterproof Eyeliner. Maybe even better. It's creamy going on, without smearing. It stays on for about 6 hours before fading. Minimal flaking after long wear. I work nights, thus I'm always tired, thus I yawn a lot, thus I subsequently tear a lot. Despite all that, this stuff stayed put. Yay for cheap makeup!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pressed Powders -Physicians Formula - Mineral Wear Mineral Face Powder
jomia23 9/6/2007 5:39:00 AM
One of the few drugstore powders that does not cause breakouts on my sensitive acne-prone skin. The color is true to how it looks in the package. I'm an NC35-30 and I got the PF powder in Beige. It's a wee too dark for my complexion so i may go a but lighter the next time. I use my kabuki brush with it and after application my pores look smaller, my face nice and matte. I feel it's just opaque enough to refresh powder foundation (I've been using Prestige Wet/Dry) without looking or feeling too heavy. No irritating smell for me. I just wish both PF and Prestige would stop putting the mirror directly under the powder pan. Wish they could model their compacts after Shiseido, with a divider between the powder (bottom) and Mirror (top). ...Man, I really DO want it all ?!
Eyeliner -Urban Decay - Liquid Liner / Liquid Shadow
jomia23 9/4/2007 7:04:00 AM
Alright, alright. I'm a convert now. Got this in Perversion or whatever the blackest color is called. This stuff is opaque, glides on easily with a nicel brush that's not too thick nor skinny. It stays on after 8 hours, doesn't flake or fade, applies well over powder and cream shadows. Yeah...I'm joining the flock and you will too, so just go out there and get this stuff! (And if anyone from UD is reading this, I'm available for cover work, heehee. Uhm, AND I'll work for free makeup)
Mascara -Cover Girl - Professional Super Thick Lash Mascara
jomia23 9/4/2007 6:58:00 AM
Definitely thickens and defines, making my short sticks for lashes look full and plush. It also lengthens a bit. No clumping, flaking or smudging as of yet. Love the huggy, densely fibered brush. Hate that this formula unravels the curl I dent onto my lashes. So I'm left with these awesome sexy full feathery defined fans, that stick out in an almost perfect right angle from my lids. I'm on the lookout for its waterproof twin to see if that can hold the curl. Until then, I'm using Great Lash Waterproof as a base to hold the curl.
Treatments -RoC - Protient Fortify Lift and Define Serum
jomia23 9/4/2007 6:48:00 AM
I noticed a tightening/plumping effect around my mouth, neckline and reduced fine lines on my forehead. The tone of my complexion seemed tighter and brighter. I used it twice a day everyday for about 4 weeks non-stop. It didn't pill when I used it with other products, which was typically sunscreen for day and a retinol acne treatment at night. The fragrance was fine and the packaging easy to handle. *UPDATE 12/8/07: Just got an amazing facial and the aesthetician complimented that I have GREAT SKIN! She said it's very tight and firm, with exceptional clarity except for the PMS zit on my chin. Can't help but think it's because I've been using this product.
This eyeliner goes on smoothly and was very easy for me to apply. Alas, for me (Asian, oily skin) the color fades after about 2 hours. Sometimes, it helps me if I pat some black eyeshadow over it to help it stay put. Other times, not so much, and I quickly get racoon eyes or there's a disappearing act. Although the pot looks tiny, it holds a lot of gel, thus has longevity, making it a great value if one continues to use it.
Eyeliner -New York Color - Waterproof Eyeliner Pencil - all
jomia23 8/28/2007 12:25:00 AM
I've been using this in Black for the past few months. I have really tiny Asian eyes, so eyeliner does not show up on me unless I draw a pretty thick line. This one does the job for me in 2 long strokes from end to end. The color is very opaque and stays put for about 4-6 hours. Then it does have a tendency to fade, but this may be due to my skin, as not many eyeliners stay put for more than 6 hours on my oily skin. So the staying power is impressive for me. The only time it really runs or smudges is if it's very warm weather (80F+) or I've been sweating. I think overall, for the value, it does a very good job at a very doable price.
Powder -Prestige - MultiFinish Wet Dry Powder Foundation
jomia23 8/27/2007 1:36:00 PM
This stuff has great coverage and opacity. The more you layer on, the more opaque and deep the color is. I'm an NC35-40 and I bought one in Wheat (too light) and one in Natural Beige (almost perfect). It's very comparable to MAC Studiofix, but lacks the variety in shades that MAC offers. I'd recommend using some base before applying the foundation. Next time, I'll try Soft Spice and see if that suits me.
If there's anyone who needs good mascara, it's me. I barely have any and what is there ain't too impressive. This stuff coated nicely without too many clumps. I got Black and I felt it darkened my lashed well enough to make them appear thicker. However, it didn't really add that much length nor did it hold the curl. It's not HG status but it's right in the middle there with Maybelline Great Lash and L'Oreal Voluminous.
I'm Asian. I have sparse, short, straight lashes. I used a curler, then applied this stuff. It gave me Tammy Faye Baker (RIP) lashes. No bueno.
I love the brush because it leaves almost no clumps behind! The bristles are pretty stiff so be careful not to stick yourself in the eye. It doesn't realy lengthen or volumize my lashes, but then again, I gots these stick straight short ass Asian lashes that anyone can barely see so I'll take what I can get. This is my drugstore HG for mascara.
I like the way this powder smooths the skin. I think my mistake was in buying the tinted powder. I usually wear MAC NC 35, so i go thte one with warmth. It makes me look orangey-red...a bit too warm I guess. Next time, I'm getting the translucent one to see how that works. But in the mean time, what do I do with my tinted powder?
Scrubs -Neutrogena - Anti Wrinkle Anti Blemish Scrub
jomia23 6/6/2005 9:20:00 AM
Not enough scrubbing beads. Made me break out in itchy little bumps all over my face. Stick with St. Ives Apricot Scrub and a good gel cleanser.
