Moisturizers -Boscia - Oil Free Daily Hydration SPF 15

I received a sample of this new product recently from a new botanical-based line from Japan (known as Fancl there, they just released this new line for the US). I have to give a huge rave for this sunscreen, it is the lightest, least greasy one I have ever used by far, even compared to supposedly lighter ones like Sage or Paula's choice or olay. It has a texture like thin, delicate yogurt, and a faint natural (not sunscreeny) scent. It has no pore clogging ingredients, and has a full spectrum chemical sunscreen (avobenzone and octinoxate). For people with normal to oily skin who want a truly nongreasy sunscreen, this may be the answer at last. Granted, it doesn't moisturize all that much, but I don't really need that, especially in the summer. The only caveat is that it is on the pricey side, with a small amount for about $25. You can request samples from www. boscia.net customer service.

Treatments -Paula's Choice - Super Antioxidant Concentrate

In theory this stuff would be great, but I just can't get over the cheap silicone texture, like hair serum as someone else said. It feels greasy but doesn't spread well, and just doesn't feel refined or pleasant to apply. I haven't noticed any obvious skin effects yet. I will probably return this.

Lipstick -Estee Lauder - Pure Color - Sangria

I got this as a GWP, and like it alot. It is a medium red with some mild shimmer, and maybe a slightly orange undertone, and isn't too garish or bright looking. The texture is very smooth and nondrying, and there is a slight tea-like fragrance which is not unpleasant. it gives a semi-shine finish. lasting power is average for a cream lipstick. I am not a big fan of estee lauder's other lipstick formulas which tend to be too waxy/heavy, but this one is quite decent.

Lipstick -Clinique - Moisture Sheer SPF 15 [DISCONTINUED]

I really like this soft, moisturizing sheer jewel-toned lipstick. I have it in Rich Cherry, a berry-red-purple shade which is lovely. I even like the subtle jello-like? taste of it. It doesn't last very long, but that's the case with most sheer lippies, and it has better pigmentation/moisture than clinique's almost lipstick.

Moisturizers -The Body Shop - Seaweed Shine Control Moisturizer SPF 15
jeanki 1/2/2003 10:28:00 PM
A surprisingly light, matte, oil-free sunscreen which should be good for normal to oily skin. There are no obvious acnegenic ingredients listed, and the SPF has both chemical and physical blocks (titanium dioxide and octinoxate). Price is decent at $12 for a small but handy fliptop tube. The only caveat I have about it is the herbal-smelling fragrance, which is OK but I would prefer no fragrance.

Liquid -Maybelline - Ever Fresh Makeup [DISCONTINUED]
jeanki 11/15/2002 2:09:00 PM
The texture is smooth, light, fluid, but blends easily. It feels lightly moisturizing but isn't greasy, and seems good for combo to oily skin, has no obvious acnegenic ingredients. coverage is light/looks natural. Unfortunately though the 2nd lightest shade Buff is inexplicably orange, which is a pity because the other shades in the line look nicely neutral/yellow based, and the 2nd lightest is usually a popular shade. They ought to reformulate this shade and it would be better. I didn't notice any smell although others have.

Lipstick -Cover Girl - Outlast

This is tricky to apply, but if you follow certain tips (use the thinnest layer of color possible only on clean dry lips), it really stays through anything! This is very handy for a busy person like me who looks washed out without lipcolor otherwise. The accompanying lipgloss makes the lips feel soft, but it needs frequent application. I got this in tomato to go, a pretty light reddish shade.

Lipstick -Vincent Longo - Lip Stain

Not sure if I agree with the hype on this one. I had the shade Cherry, a natural reddish-pink-brown color which was OK, but barely pigmented/too sheer. On me the color was identical to my far cheaper Wet Shine Diamonds lipstick in Gem crushed merlot. The texture and smell of this lipstain were actually quite similar to Cherry-flavored Chapstick, albeit smoother. Overpriced for what you get.

Sunscreen -Sage - SPF 25

I can't say I liked this overall. It was thicker and heavier than I expected, although decently matte in finish. My search for the perfect nongreasy sunscreen continues...

I don't know if the previous reviewer was using the old version, but the newer ones have no taste that I can detect and are great otherwise.

Treatments -Paula's Choice - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Lotion Exfoliant
jeanki 8/20/2002 2:43:00 PM
As a fan of the 2% solution, I find the lotion even better! Easy to apply (no more cotton pads), softer, less harsh and non-irritating, it works just as well at keeping the zits away. A must-have product for me.

Liquid -Paula's Choice - All Bases Covered Foundation SPF 25
jeanki 7/12/2002 8:20:00 PM
I got a sample of this, Sand was possibly the most perfect color match I've had in a foundation. (the 3rd lightest shade) It blends well, has SPF 15, and leaves natural, light-medium semi-matte coverage and feels soft/non-irritating. It looked great at first. But on my combo skin it tended to accentuate my dry spots while later it got rather oily/shiny after just a few hours (especially in the summer heat) and tends to look more masky/greasy. I like the finish on my Revlon diffusing tint better and don't get as greasy. I guess that's why this is recommended primarily for dry skin.

Liquid -Jane - Stay Calm Foundation [DISCONTINUED]
jeanki 6/21/2002 9:03:00 PM
This stuff is a great deal for the price. I have buffy, the 2nd lightest, which is a wonderfully neutral light-medium shade. The texture is watery but easy to blend and coverage is sheer/natural/matte. It is on the drying side so would be great for oily skin. I have combo skin, and it does tend to highlight dry patches, so I use this more to dab on uneven spots than as full-face foundation. It never even remotely breaks me out. Great!

Lip Gloss -Paula's Choice - Soft Shine Moisturizing Gloss
jeanki 6/10/2002 10:45:00 PM
Overall, a nice lipgloss, with no taste or smell and a smooth texture, although it doesn't last as long as other lipglosses. It tends to be very sheer/natural, so expect it to look lighter than it does in the tube. I got Russet, which looks dark red-brown in the tube (not unlike NARS Bilitis), but is a nice natural sheer red on the lips. The price is nice at 7.95 but be warned, the tubes are smaller than average (and the wands don't pop out enough product with one swipe unlike other tubes like MAC Lipglass) so it's not as great a deal as it seems.

Lipstick -Maybelline - Wet Shine Diamonds - Gem Crushed Merlot
jeanki 5/27/2002 7:08:00 PM
I love this formula, soft, moisturizing, light, totally fragrance/taste-free. Gem Crushed Merlot is a gorgeous sheer berry-red that doesn't look too bright or garish, but elegant with ruby microglitter. I love it!
