Palettes -Clinique - Plum Seduction Eyeshadow Palette

I got the mini size as a gift with purchase. The lavender shade isn't clownish or costume-like when combined with the other two shades. It brings out my green eyes nicely. I wouldn't buy the full size as I'm not big on any eyeshadow shades in pastel colors, but the colors are great for everyday wear and can be built and layered for more pigment. They aren't too shimmery which is nice, the finish is actually quite matte which works for the purple-ish shade.
Gives good length for someone looking for a lengthening mascara, but after one coat it gives spidery lashes, and if you don't use a lash comb right after you apply, one coat will probably be more than enough. So apply lightly and it's not too bad. Tends to smudge underneath because the formula is pretty heavy.
The pencil is very oddly shaped and large, almost at an angle, making it awkward to fill in your brows because it gives too much pigment. If you sweat too much (I wore it to hot yoga class once) it literally runs above and underneath your brows, giving you a line vertically running through your eyebrows. Doesn't withstand any water or sweat. The gel is nice but it runs out so fast, I was out of it within one week of using once a day. I just refill it with a cheap Garnier hair gel which seems to do the trick. I like the eyebrow brush. Would not repurchase because the pencil compenent is a dealbreaker for me.
Eye Makeup Remover -Avon - Moisture effective Eye makeup remover

I got the bottle for 99 cents, so I suppose I can't expect much. It's really goopy and you have to rub it all over your eyelids and under your eyes to get everything off, and it's too thick to reach close enough to your lash line to get off any eyelinger or mascara. It requires a lot of rubbing to get mascara off, and I hate tugging on that delicate skin on my eye area. Even after I've washed my face and my makeup has somewhat dissolved, it still doesn't get very much off, and I can't imagine using it by itself without washing your face first, because your eyes would probably be bloodshot and your skin would start to sag after awhile. The bottle also has some issues, I leave the bottle open and it comes out the top without me squeezing it or anything, even when the bottle is 3/4 empty. I'll use it until it's empty, but most definitely will not repurchase.
Skincare - Face -Biore - skin boosting night serum

I bought this serum because it was 50% off the sale price at the cheapest drugstore in town. So I thought why not give it a try? You don't get very much, the bottle is maybe 30mL, so I'm glad I didn't pay more. I used it at night like directed and found that I didn't have to apply moisturizer in the morning because my face didn't feel tight and dry when I wake up like it usually does. I don't notice any brightening or radiance effects, although it's never promised on the package so I suppose I can't hold it against them. I'll use it until it's done, but you're better off investing in a quality moisturizer then bothering with this overall useless step.
Treatments -L'Oreal - Dermo-Expertise ReFinish Micro-Dermabrasion
jacoba 3/8/2011 10:27:00 PM
I gave this product a 3 because I like the microdermabrasion part (step one out of two) and the exfoliating beads are very small so it can really seep into and clean out your pores, making them appear smaller and tighter. I use the first step with my Clarisonic brush and I love it. However, I'm not a fan of the moisturizer (step two). It just sat on my face and felt almost rubbery on my skin, and later on in the day (when I used it in the morning) I would wipe my face and I could feel the layer it formed on my skin come off. It's gross. If I could buy just step one I would though.
I got this as a travel size when I purchased the Clarisonic skincare brush. Personally, I'm not a huge fan. I felt that it was an average cleanser, something you would get at a drugstore. I expected more from Sephora! It cleaned my face for the night, but my skin wasn't baby soft like it is when I use other cleansers, and I felt like it didn't tighten my pores or clean as deeply as other products. Would not purchase the full size.
I wouldn't buy this product again, simply because I felt that I only used it a few times, and it seemed to be completely empty/dried out within a few weeks, if that. The brush is huge, and I have naturally thick lashes already, so I was looking for a mascara with more lengthening qualities. If you are looking for a volumizing one, give this one a try. Personally though, I wouldn't recommend it no matter what your lash type because you probably won't get much use out of it if your tube is anything like mine. The brush is so big and the formula doesn't go on, so I literally have to use a lot of force to apply just to see any difference. Plus it's tough to reach those smaller lashes in the corners of your eyes, and when I used it on my bottom lashes I just ended up getting it underneath my eyes and it smudges everywhere. Not worth it.
I love the smell/taste of this product, and it goes on smoothly and doesn't leave a chunky layer over your lips. Lips feel hydrated, yet the only downside (and this is a dealbreaker for me) is that it only works for about an hour, and then you have to reapply. It may seem like a good deal because it's cheap, but you end up using more in the long run. Better to invest in a good balm that lasts.
This hand cream is too greasy, I think the number one ingredient is glycerin, which is said to hold onto moisture, which is a good thing. However, it seems as though I either use too much and it's greasy, or not enough and I don't get the moisture I need. Plus, it's so thick, I put it on before bed and wake up in the morning with a greasy film over my skin, and when I wash my hands with soap, even then it barely comes off. Its too thick to even penetrate the skin. Unfortunately, I bought a three pack at Costco and don't want to throw it away, so I recommend mixing it with a less hydrating, thinner hand creme, as I'm doing. Wouldn't recommend unless your hands are cracking and bleeding.
This product is great for those with coarse, curly hair. I made the mistake of buying it for my fine, wavy hair. I wasn't educated enough about its purpose and the background behind the line, and it turns out it's not for women with my hair type! But I bought it and don't want to throw it out, so I mixed it with Sunsilk smoothing creme (blue bottle) and it seems to work just fine. Nothing amazing, but nice for those in between days when you just want some natural wave, and it has an amazing scent. Wouldn't buy again, but I recommend for those who read up on the line and I bet it would work wonders!
This mask is alright overall. I find that it doesn't do much more than exfoliate, and it smells like baby wipes, which I don't find very appealing. Its thick enough to stay on your face for sure, however, it doesn't harden into a clay either, yet I think this is due to the granules found it in, giving it that exfoliating quality. Before I wash it off, I like to add some water and exfoliate in a circular motion, just to get the most out of it. I've tried better masks, I wouldn't buy again, but I won't throw it until I've finished it. Not terrible, not exceptional, something I expected from a generic drugstore brand. However, I had higher expectations from the Body Shop.
This lipstick brightens up anyone's face and works on any skin tone. Even when I'm wearing minimal makeup, I put this on and can layer it as much as I want and it won't look like I'm wearing too much. It doesn't dry out your lips or feather, and I wear it over a lip balm for a slightly glossier finish. It's the perfect combination between shiny and matte, and looks polished and gives you a great pout!
The only conditioner I use. It's relatively cheap for the product you're getting, and I can usually find it on sale in bulk at salons. It comes in large amounts so you don't have to buy a new one every two weeks. I have long, healthy hair (so I've been told) and I always tell people to use deep conditioner in place of regular conditioners every time you wash your hair, and this is the only one I use!
Lotions/ Creams -Bath and Body Works - Twilight Woods Body Lotion
jacoba 12/16/2010 10:04:00 PM
I love the smell of this lotion! Everything is great, however, if you're looking for something a little thicker, I would recommend a body butter. But I mix this with Jamieson 100% vitamin E oil and it delivers longlasting moisture with an amazing scent that isn't headache-inducing or overly scented. Will buy again!
