Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Exact
ilynne 6/24/2006 4:30:00 PM
OMG! Crap! I gave it a 2 because it isn't as awful as Great Lash. I bought it at Target today after reading reviews. I use Shu Basic and I guess that I am always on the lookout for a decent less expensive mascara. I needed the restroom on the way out of the store & decided to try it out right then. Long story short: it clumps horribly. I returned it on the way out of the store.

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Heat
ilynne 5/29/2006 12:41:00 PM
I was looking for a nice coral and this is pretty close. Corals look great on me. It is a bit more red than I'd like, but I like it. The packaging is super-cute, quality is exceptional. I said I would buy it again, but of course I won't because I am an addict and I own so much eyeshadow that I will never run out. I rarely ever hit pan on a shadow, even one that I love.

Pressed Powders -MAC - Blot Powder
ilynne 9/18/2005 12:12:00 PM
I love this stuff. I have been looking for it ALL my life. I am SUPER oily. By the time I get to work half an hour after putting on my makeup, my face is oily. Not just a little shiny but OILY, like it has a layer of vaseline added. A light dusting of this over my makeup or sunscreen and I stay matte for about 4 hours. That may not seem like much, but in order to stay non-greasy, I would literally need to blot every 15 minutes. I like velour puffs much more than sponges, so I'm happy with the puff. I threw out the plastic separator because it was too hard to remove to get at the powder. What I do to keep oil from building up on the puff is buy lots of them (they're dirt cheap) and use a fresh one every day. I wash them when I have a few used ones. Of course, I blot first before applying this powder, too. Great stuff, I can put on sunblock and dust on a bit of this powder and look fresh for hours. HG.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Rule Matte E/S
ilynne 9/18/2005 9:40:00 AM
I love this color. I have stayed away from oranges for a long time. I finally decided to try it and I just love it to pieces. My favorite combination so far is Rule with UD Asphyxia (picture in my profile). You wouldn't think those two colors would work together, but they do. I also use it with Girlie, Milani Peachy Peach or UD Hotpants. This makes my green eyes almost GLOW. It's not for the timid, but I have even worn it to work. You should definitely give it a try.

Lip Gloss -Urban Decay - Big Fatty Lip Plumper
ilynne 9/4/2005 12:58:00 PM
I'm an Urban Decay junkie. I had to try this. Slight tingle, definitely made my lips pinker. But I didn't notice any plumping effect. And the pink didn't even last an hour. I sent this back to Sephora.

Eye Shadow -Milani - Almondine (25)

Perfect YLBB shade. Not very exciting, but brightens up your eyes on days when you don't want to look overdone. I love it and would definitely buy it again.

Eye Shadow -Milani - Heavenly Pink
ilynne 8/27/2005 7:32:00 PM
This is another Milani shadow that surprised me. I almost never wear pink eyeshadow. I just don't like the way it looks on me. So why did I buy this? Well, it's Milani, and it's $3, and I didn't have a light pink matte shadow (maybe because I don't like the way it looks on me?)... Yeah, I'm an addict. Anyway, Heavenly Pink is another great YLBB shadow. It has a lovely satin, not matte, texture. It's just lovely as a wash all by itself. Gives a little dimension to your face without drawing attention to itself. I will wear this one often.

Eye Shadow -Milani - Milani Eye Shadow Peachy Peach
ilynne 8/27/2005 7:27:00 PM
The only thing I hate about this shadow is that it looks SO GOOD all by itself that I might as well throw out the rest of my stash. I have been lemming the Nars All About Eve duo. I don't think I need it now. I've got that "I wake up this gorgeous" look from a $3 Milani shadow all by itself. The only other eye makeup I wear with it is some black liner. This is what I wished Stila's Kitten looked like on me. I disagree with the reviewers who said this is white. It is definitely peach. And did I mention that it is beautiful? Definitely try this one. I put it back about 10 times thinking "I'll never wear that." I was so wrong.

Moisturizers -Philosophy - Hope in a Jar - for all skin types
ilynne 8/27/2005 7:08:00 AM
Egad! The stench! I got a sample of this and Purity from Sephora and decided to try them one night. The Purity smelled so good and felt so nice cleaning my face that I can't wait to buy some. But the Hope in a Jar -- the smell was horrifying. I wouldn't even say "medicinal." I wondered if it was embalming fluid. I thought "Well, the smell will fade quickly." Five minutes later, I was gagging. I could still smell it on my face and hands after washing it off. It might work, but I am never going to find out.

Moisturizers -Prescriptives - All You Need + Broad Spectrum Oil Absorbing Lotion SPF15
ilynne 8/23/2005 7:08:00 AM
I am super oily and never wear moisturizer. Oh yeah, I've heard that line about your skin making more oil if you don't. It's not true, at least not for me. [It's not true according to dermatologists, either, btw.] I've faithfully tried moisturizers for oily skin, "light" ones, etc. Nothing and I mean NOTHING ever did anything but make me a grease pit 3 minutes after washing my face (as opposed to the usual 5 minutes). So I was bumming samples from the Px counter (Flawless Finish) and the SA told me what a great moisturizer this was for oily skin. I said no way, that NEVER works for me. She fed me the usual line about my skin producing more oil without moisturizer. I said no, that's what they all say, it's not going to work, it never works, I am way too oily to ever need moisturizer. Well she insisted that I take a sample home. Oh, how I hate her now. THIS STUFF IS BRILLIANT! Another reviewer said that the oil absorbing ingredient must be from the future and I agree. I usually need to blot by the time I get to work, and at least once an hour. At 10 am, I still don't look shiny. I do some blotting, but not the kind that leaves me with no makeup by 11:00 am. I am still not a grease pit by the end of the day. So, I ran back to the store to buy it the next day. I bought the spf 15 version, though, since I am all about sunblock. WELL I HATED IT! I took it back the next day. For some reason, the spf 15 version was just like all the others -- I was a grease pit in 5 minutes. So I am using the "night time" version, which I love. I should have sampled it first, and I highly recommend sampling this even if you love the non-spf version. It seems to work for a lot of people, but if you are the super oily type like me, do yourself a favor and try both versions. I didn't like this one.

Edit 1 October 2007: Never finished the bottle. Oily skin DOES NOT NEED MOISTURIZER. Finally got that through my head. It's a great product, but not for me, so I am not changing my rating.

Liquid -Prescriptives - Flawless Skin Total Protection Makeup SPF 15
ilynne 8/22/2005 8:54:00 PM
So far, I like it. I am still using samples, though -- I haven't actually forked over any cash for it yet. I am super oily. I actually have a layer of oil on my skin 5 minutes after washing my face. Nothing lasts all day. Well, except for Revlon ColorStay, but that stuff looks like housepaint and the colors are awful for me. So far, FS lasts all day, and looks very good. I agree that it looks a bit flat, I would like it to be a touch more luminous. I mix it with a drop of water to sheer it out a bit because I don't like the look of heavy foundation. But it does last all day, and it looks remarkably natural. I think that I like the look of Virtual Skin a bit more. But VS is greasy on me in 5 minutes. I usually need to blot by the time I get to work, and at least every hour. I still don't look shiny by 10 am in FF. So, I highly recommend trying it if you are super oily. Edit 1 Oct 2007: Never did purchase this. Have downgraded to 3 lippies. Does not hold up well on my oily skin and sinks into pores and lines. Great color selection, though.
