Eye Shadow -E.L.F. - Duo Eyeshadows
rated 3 of 5
girrl65 5/9/2011 8:24:00 PM

I have this in black licorice. Out of all the ELF shadows I have tried, this is probably the best although that is not saying much. This is mediocre in general, but for the cheap price, it pretty good, which is why I rated it 3 stars. It's no Urban Decay (or even NYX) but then again, it was only one dollar. The shadow is kind of sheer and when I tried to use the darker color and blend it out, it just got more and more sheer even though all I was doing was trying to blend away harsh lines. This duo is good for the price and might be cool to check out if you like smokey eyes like I do. But if you are looking for high quality shadow, look elsewhere.

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express The Colossal
rated 4 of 5
girrl65 5/8/2011 4:30:00 PM

I bought this against my better judgement because Maybelline has never impressed me aside from their Fit Me foundation. Like all mascaras, this will please some people and not others. I actually like it. It makes my lashes very long, which is mainly what I want. The smell of the mascara is noticeable even after applying. I've never had one do that. It's not that big of a deal because it doesn't irrirate my eyes. About the flaking people are talking about, that's just nonsense. This mascara, or any I've ever tried, has never flaked on me. Mascaras don't flake on their own. They flake because you rub your eyes during the day. That's not the fault of the mascara because if you want your makeup to last, you shouldn't touch your face. So anyway, I actually like this mascara. It's really a pretty good one. I'll be rebuying. .

Lips -NYX - Soft Matte Lip Cream in Stockholm
rated 4 of 5
girrl65 5/4/2011 5:42:00 PM

I have 7 of these lip colors! I love them so much! One of them is Stockholm, which is a pinky nude. It is the least brown of all the nudes in this collection, I think. I cannot wear any kind of brown tinged lip color, so I was hesitant to get this at first. The color is actually quite nice and looks good with a more dramatic eye. I don't think I would wear this with a plain eye look. My only complaint is that this is just a teeny bit too dark to by MLBB. I'm like NC5-10 so yeah... If you are NC20 or darker, this might be perfect for you. And of course, the matte formula is to die for! Totally kiss prove and long wearing and absolutely, positively MATTE! If you want a nude lip, get this!

Eye Shadow -E.L.F. - brightening eyeshadow quad - drama
rated 1 of 5
girrl65 5/4/2011 1:32:00 PM

I cannot begin to understand the good reviews for this mediocre product. I have tried ELF shadows in the past and found them to be inferior, but I thought I might try again since I love smokey eye looks and this was only $1. Well, this quad has the same bad formula. I used this over primer and packed it on, yet the colors are sheer, full of cheap mica fallout, and smudge up together. Also, the actual quad itself is so tiny that I could hardly get my makeup brushes into it to get product. This might be nice if this is all you've ever tried or are 12 and don't have expectations. Even other low end brands, such as NYX, are worlds better than this junk. I'd only buy this again if I was in some dire makeup emergency. I really like some other ELF products, but their eye shadows are just dime store crap!

Lipstick -E.L.F. - Studio Matte Lip Color
rated 3 of 5
girrl65 5/4/2011 1:26:00 PM

I bought Tea Rose, which turns into a dark mauve on my lips. The color is ok, but the formula is certainly not matte. It reminds me a lot of the MAC Amplified formula. There is no shimmer, but matte means no shine. Matte is dry on the lips. I think they didn't quite understand that. But then again, I think they are trying to copy some of the other brands making matte lip colors this season. Over all, this is a nice, opaque lip product, but don't buy it if you are specifically looking for something matte.

Eye Shadow -Wet 'n' Wild - Color Icon Eyeshadow Collection - Blue Had Me At Hello (737)
rated 5 of 5
girrl65 4/15/2011 6:46:00 PM

I have the other two 8-pan palettes that have been released this season and i like this one the best. It might not be the most wearable, but it is the best quality. The shadows in this collection are pigment soaked and very bold. For example, the silver on the left, second from the top, is the most foily, drenched silver I've ever tried. It just gleams like chrome on a car! The other colors are also great and very pigmented. One can do a wide variety of looks with this. Everything from a soft, summery baby blue to a very dramatic gothic look can be achieved with this palette. Its a knock out for drugstore shadows! Get it!

Lip Gloss -NYX - Soft Matte Lip Cream in Milan
rated 5 of 5
girrl65 4/15/2011 6:38:00 PM

Milan is a beautiful rose color. It reminds me quite a bit of the MAC Mattene 40s Pink, which is DC. I'm not sure if it's a complete dupe because I haven't swatched them yet, but they seem very close. The formula of this, as I've said in my other reviews for these lip colors, is very matte, opaque, and perfect! It is kiss proof and won't come off too bad with eating and drinking. It "dries" on the lips and you can apply it in layers to make it more opaque. I've found that the lighter colors take more coats to be opaque. If you are into mattes, easy application, or rose pink, you need to try this and see for yourself how great it is!

Lips -NYX - Soft Matte Lip Cream in Istanbul
rated 5 of 5
girrl65 4/15/2011 6:33:00 PM

This is my third of these lipstick/glosses and I love it! It looks different on than in the tube. It is slightly darker and rosier. It is warm toned unlike some of the other pinks in the collection. I am warm toned too so I feel that it is quite wearable for me. It is nice to pair with smokey eyes or another bold color because it is not that garish or out there. The formula, of course, is great! Several coats makes this opaque, matte goodness that is pretty much kiss and meal proof. I love these things and won't stop until I have them all! Get this!

Lips -NYX - Soft Matte Lip Cream
rated 5 of 5
girrl65 4/10/2011 6:49:00 PM

These are sooooo amazing and cheap! I love these because they have a precise applicator, a creamy mousse that dries to an opaque matte, and they are long lasting. Anyone who says these wear off easily aren't using them correctly. I have 5 or 6 of these now and I love every one! If you like matte lips, this is a must have!

Lip Gloss -NYX - Soft Matte Lip Cream - Amsterdam
rated 5 of 5
girrl65 4/8/2011 4:23:00 PM

This is a great product! Like the packaging says, this is not a lip gloss nor a lipstick. It's a cool, airy mousse that dries into an unbudgable, opaque lip color that it totally matte. Amsterdam is a bright, classic red and looks great matte. If you want the ease of a lip gloss/ lip brush-applied lipstick you must try this! It I one of the best reds I've used. Matte red can be tricky when applied from a lipstick tube, so the quick doe foot applicator takes all the problem out of applying a severe lip color like this. And as I mentioned, the formula does not budge. It is kiss proof and stays on through eating and drinking. Everyone who is a fan of matte lips needs to try this!

Lip Treatments -Aubrey Organics - Treat Em' Right Lip Balm in Raspberry
rated 4 of 5
girrl65 4/6/2011 6:53:00 PM

I used to use Carmex lip balm, but I got tired of the petroleum ingredients and that fact that I am reasonably sure it was smearing around at night causing my cystic acne around my chin. Thus, I went hunting for a natural lip balm. My local health food store didn't have much that impressed me, so I decided to try this one since it was on sale for $2. It is Raspberry flavor, but the stick has no color. It boasts 91% organic ingredients and is just very natural and unoffensive in general. I feel like I have to reapply more often than when I had the Carmex, but then again that stuff is practically waterproof. So in conclusion, if you happen to be in need of a lip balm and stumble upon this, it is a good buy!

Deodorants -Unlisted Brand - Crystal Body Deodorant Stick
rated 4 of 5
girrl65 4/6/2011 5:40:00 PM

I have been using some variety of non-aluminum deodorant for years and years. I used to use Toms of Maine, but their newly reformulated deodorants just don't work for me anymore. My BF recently bought one of the Crystal deodorants and told me to get one because he thought it was so great. I did, and it works like a charm! It really does keep odor away for at least 12 hours....and there is ZERO residue or substance from the application that can get on to clothes, etc. I do have one question. Is the ammonium alum ingredient the naughty aluminum that I'm trying to avoid? Many people claim it is not, but I'm not so sure.

Eye Shadow -Wet 'n' Wild - 8-pan Palette "Comfort Zone"
rated 4 of 5
girrl65 4/6/2011 1:28:00 PM

I was wandering around in Walgreens the other day when I came upon the Wet n Wild display. I saw they had Comfort Zone finally. I decided to try it since it was only $5. I also have Petal Pusher (see my review), so I had an idea of what I was getting. As people have said, I think the quality and pigmentation with the CZ palette is a little better than PP. The shadows are better than MAC (that doesn't take much, honestly) but not better than UD. These are great for drugstore, and for the price, they can't be beat. I know ELF sells palettes for $5 as well, and the WnW shadows are way better! Anyway, you get neutrals on one side and greens on the other. I like how they try to help out the makeup simpletons by telling you which color should go where (I see this often with low end mu for some reason). I'm also annoyed by this because it makes me think inside the box. Sometimes, I'd rather have the shadows mixed up so I can decide myself what goes with what instead of having them do it for me. Over all, this is a nice palette. For the price, you really should give it a try. Again, like I said for my PP review, these palettes are not going to save the world. They are excellent for drugstore, but there are still other brands that are better.

Loose Powders -Coty - Airspun face powder
rated 5 of 5
girrl65 4/5/2011 4:08:00 PM

I finally decided to try this. I adore it! I love it more than my Cover Girl loose powder because you get over twice as much and it is lighter in color. It is also fantastic at oil control! My CG powder claims to be "translucent light" but I think it still imparts color to my foundation. The Coty powder does not (I have it in Translucent). I also think it makes my face look nicer and more flawless. My only complaint is the godawful scent. It is really strong while I'm using it. Fortunately it disappears soon after so I don't have to smell it all day. Over all, this is a GREAT setting powder! I will repurchase.

Gels/Soaps -Nubian Heritage - Black Seed Soap With Apricot Oil and Wild Honey
rated 5 of 5
girrl65 4/2/2011 6:11:00 PM

Unlike the previous reviewer, I actually own this product and have been using it for about two weeks. I love it! The scent is delicious in a natural way and the soap has made my skin very smooth and soft. I will repurchase for sure, and I'd also like to try other products by this company. Try this soap!
