Eyeliner -Estee Lauder - Estée Lauder 'Double Wear' Stay-in-Place Eye Pencil
rated 5 of 5

This is the most perfect eyeliner i've ever used, better performance den Chanel's eye kohls & MAC powerpoints, and anything else i've ever tried. It is really affordable @ s'pore duty-free : $25.50. I tested by drawing a line on my wrist using the tester, before buying it. On reaching home, I slept with the line still there. After tossing & turning in bed for 8hrs, woke up in the morning, the line still stays put! Slight wearing-off is noticeable, but not messy smudging. Easy application, easy sharpening, lasted well on a humid day. And yesterday I had to cry...it passed the cry test too! No messy smudges although im wearing Onyx (blackest black), again only slight wearing off. Would be my staple. Forever.

Blush -MAC - Mineralize Blush - Gentle
rated 4 of 5
encee 8/20/2010 1:59:00 AM

MAC always made great blushers that won't agitate my acne-prone cheeks. This tone was selected as i was looking for a pretty pink. It has fine gold dust and its sheer finish, makes it blend prettily with my yellow-undertone NC25 skin. Lasting factor is not excellent though, but a pan goes a long way. Just love the way this colour reacted to my skintone. Perfect everyday blush. An equivalent to my fave Nars' Angelika...but with some glam shimmers :)

A wonderful lip treatmeant, buttery & melt-on-ur lips consistency. No smell, making it feel like im using a product that existly purely for function. I do find it a little greasy though, so most of the time, it's an overnight lip treatment. Cure chaps with just one night application.

Other -Herbacin - Hand Cream
rated 5 of 5
encee 7/6/2010 11:57:00 PM

It was a 'newbie' in my local drugstore, and being a sucker for handcreams, i need to try this! Frankly I had not expected much from the somewhat colourful packaging... it looks kinda tacky. So i bought just a small tin in wuta kamille. AMAZING! it has that comfy, quenched aftermath that crabtree's gardeners handcream wld do. at a lesser price, and faint fragrance that wl not get me tired after sometime. LOVE, love, love how my dry & 'plasticky' hands felt after this.. it absorbs fast, not as 'heavy' as crabtree, and it felt like a dream applied on my feet. worth it, will buy the whole tube next time. but the tin casing is so nifty for travels & putting at every corner of the house ;)

Lotions/ Creams -Crabtree & Evelyn - Gardeners Hand Therapy
rated 5 of 5
encee 5/18/2010 6:04:00 AM

oh my god, should have discovered this sooner!!! bought the 'gardeners' because it's a neutral scent (not floral or fauna) ... somewhat cinnamony though.... on application, hand felt 'quenched' of its dryness. im a laundryholic, daily exposed to harsh detergent powders...and i can't live without hand creams, everyday.. since 12 yrs old. it's an oldtime habit :/ this got to be the best, not oily, felt luxuriated, lasts long, and i also have the slimmer tube of hand recovery with the overnight gloves...can't detect the diff. both is equally GOOD. LOVE. my answer to younger-looking hands

Powder -Sephora - Matifying Powder Foundation
rated 4 of 5
encee 5/18/2010 5:55:00 AM

after awhile holy-grailing revlon's mineral powder foundation (040) ....i just wanted a swift switch to something more compact to carry. saw sephora's pressed mineral powder foundation...got excited, bought it and realised at home that i had instead bought Mattifying Powder Foundation due to the rushing!! so i wasn't thrilled about this product :( in D25, a yellow-tinged hue (im usually a mac NC25 : broke me out) suprisingly, it blended so well into my own skincolour...something which is new to me, as I normally buy pink-tinged powders. it covers well, and by mid-day...my usual oily & blotchy-coloured paches is not even there. it had only been 2 days wearing this, and i just had to review in appreciation of this product! also, i need not touch up till end of the day : 6pm. how long-wearing is that? it scores well on price, basic performance, altho the compact sucks...it will make up well for being a true basic.

Blush -NARS - Angelika
rated 4 of 5
encee 1/19/2010 12:47:00 AM

Hunting for an everyday blush. Found it in angelika. A beautiful pinkish matteness, pigments spread into a healthy glow. And it doesn't break me out. (B.Brown blushers cause me small breakouts on the cheeks...it took me some time to detect it & i cldnt believe the culprit) This NARS is l-o-v-e. So natural, so happy, so wearable (im NC25) It is ur answer to an everyday pretty blush.

Hair -Nature's Gate - Organics Fruit Blend- Asian Pear+Red Tea
rated 5 of 5
encee 1/19/2010 12:39:00 AM

Since the hype for non-SLS shampoos came about & im simultaneously experiencing hair loss.....organic had to be the answer. Saw this at guardian pharmacy on promo of a shampoo + conditioner pack..immediaty grabbed it. It smells great in the bottle too. First time i use this, it's heaven...the shampoo lather generously, smells fab...and left my hair 'unstripped' of natural oils. And virtually no hairfall. The conditioner itself smooth out small tangles, i left it on a few minutes...and hair feels soft upon rinsing. Easy to comb wet hair. As it dries off through the day, my hair feels 'naturally healthy' no static, crispy feeling of bad hairwash aftermath. I have straight, fine hair...this makes it look radiant, i swear. IT works better than any salon-brands i've tested...best of all...it's organic. I cant believe it.

Cleansers -LUSH - Baby Face ] [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5
encee 9/7/2009 12:17:00 PM

LUSH used to retail in singapore, but completely disappeared a few years back: before I get to test anything from the brand! I travelled to H.Kong regularly (d nearest store to singapore), and SO tempted to buy a lil somethin from LUSH. Again, I consulted MUA and babyface ranks in high. Product: U neeeed to buy the silver tin container!! or it'll just be too messy...like, how do one handle a bar of oil? Usage: As advised by MUAers - spread the 'soap' on dry, full-makeup face. It'll naturally melt into oil upon contact with skin. Just rub it all over ur face, closing ur eyes. with palms, spread the product & watch it swiftly melt away make-up...even the thickest of mascaras. Enjoy the lovely mild scent. When done, simply tissue off the oil. That simple..I think I can do this standing up, on a moving train. Best of all, it's so portable & takes up little luggage space. Great for travelling, perfect for home too. Cons: U need a necessary second step - wash off with ur regular cleanser. Skin still feels 'moisturised', as oil won't be stripped off ur skin. Toner follows as usual. Skin feels good. Im happy with this product. Will buy a few back, since LUSH is not available here :(

Sunscreen -L'Oreal - UV Perfect Ultimate Protection Fluid with Mexoryl XL SPF 50/PA+++
rated 2 of 5
encee 9/6/2009 11:09:00 AM

SPF 50 was quite impressive for a drugstore UV blocker with dullness-altering benefits. I purchased the lilac tone. My oily acne-prone skin can be quite cranky to L'oreal's products. So far, white perfect radiance-boosting essence works well for me. I thought, this might too. First 2 days it works well, on third usage, i noticed small pimples surfacing. My's skin's method of telling me a product is just not suitable. If my skin has not reacted, this wld be my staple. It is a good product overall, just not suitable for moi.

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - A'kin - Rosehip Oil
rated 4 of 5
encee 9/6/2009 11:00:00 AM

My mum (late 40s) was recommended this for her dry, mature skin. Out of curiousity, I consulted MUA & the reviews are great. Mum is quite lazy with skincare routines...so I wanna 'help her use it'. I braved myself to apply this orange-tinted pure oil, on my oily acne-prone skin. Just 3 drops, and spread it into the cells of my skin. Instead of my usual whitening serum below makeup & UV moisturizer, I use this as the first base instead. Guess what! Much less oil by mid-day, No traces of rosehip oil surfacing, no greasiness amid Singapore's humidity. Im quite impressed. Means: my skin was well-hydrated. I even applied it overnight, and no small pimples appear next morning. Skin look fine & underneath it, I know my skin got the oil it needed. Will further monitor if noticeable clarity can be detected thru prolong use of this. Meantime, im loving it. Esp great for airborne travelling, when air is dry, or aircon rooms overnight.

Eyeliner -Wet 'n' Wild - SILKYGIRL Funky Eyelights Pencil
rated 4 of 5
encee 7/29/2009 10:06:00 AM

For the price, I had to buy all the nice cols! Have it in purple, medium-dark blue, gold & brown. It's comparable to Mac's coloured eye kohls. Quality is not as good, but fantastic enough for a cheap, everyday wear. My fave is dark blue & also purple to line my lower eyelids, when black liner is too harsh on the lower rim. Colour is less vibrant by mid day, but a simple touch-up could fix that. A perfect example of a cheap & good product: says the recessionista.

Gels/Soaps -The Body Shop - Moringa Shower Gel
rated 2 of 5
encee 7/29/2009 9:52:00 AM

Someone gave me this. It smells 'indian'. Im sorry no offence, really. But im just trying to say that it smells too exotic, definately an acquired smell. I use it generously on a bath pad, cos i cant wait to finish up the botttle. Lathers well, the smell lingers for abit. But generally, all bodyshop shower gels has scents that doesnt last long at all. A pretty basic product. Buy only for bodyshop's range of unique smells. For this, im not liking it purely bcos of the too-exotic scent.

Powder -Revlon - ColorStay Mineral Foundation
rated 4 of 5
encee 7/29/2009 9:39:00 AM

For my NC 35 - 40 skin, I bough a lightmedium 040 shade. A tad darker than revlon whitening compact in 'buff'. I cant agree with others saying that the packaging is stupid. I find it very convenient and it works well in a kabuki-to-powder team. I can easily swish it around my face, the coverage is natural. Doesnt break out my acne-prone skin. It doesn't feel thick, to the point that I can feel can pores suffocated by minerals. I've only used maybelline's mineral powder & I must say this match my shade better, has a more natural finish, and not suffocating my pores. Only that it kinda wears off by mid-day, blotting & touch-ups are necessary. Other than that, this is a newfound staple!

Conditioner -Clairol - Herbal Essences Dangerously Straight Conditioner
rated 4 of 5
encee 7/29/2009 9:27:00 AM

Used in conjuction with shampoo, which gave me great hairfall. Overall, it gave my fine, straight, flat hair...enough softness. True like other reviewers said, this is comparable to salon brands. The result is fantastic, hair is soft & 'obedient', moves in gentle cascades, and doesn't weigh down my hair. This duo wld be my daily HG if not for the detrimentals of the shampoo.
