Brows -BeneFit Cosmetics - Instant Brow Pencil (All Colors)

This would be a better product if the tip of the pencil would not break so easily. It is very soft. The color and spoolie brush are both nice. It lasts well on the brows. But the tip has broken off twice. :(
Conditioner -Nature's Gate - Herbal Daily Conditioning

On and off since the seventies, I have fallen under the spell of this conditioner. A tan-mauve colored elixir, this moisturizes without feeling heavy. The lavender/myrrh scent is utterly intoxicating. paired with its sister shampoo, this is a nice product on my damaged curly hair, that does not cost a fortune.
Mascara -Peter Thomas Roth - Lashes To Die For The Mascara

The brush on this is bizarre and very hard to use with the blunted end. I am guessing you are supposed to apply the color with the end, and then comb it through with the brush? Any way, it smears and globs. It does not offer much length or volume. Not a go for me.
Treatments -Christian Dior - Dior Abricot Creme for Nails

This is SO expensive and I daresay it costs more than it needs to. But it works. The pot is wide and shallow so that it is easy to get product out of the jar. The texture is very dense and sticky, and you only need a little bit. A VERY little bit. I am recovering from acrylics that destroyed my nails and this product is helping a lot. I also used it decades ago, and it works as well now as it did then. My nails are growing faster, and are much less dry. The scent is a bit strong, but I like the apricotty sweetness. Like a previous poster, I could not resist trying this as a lip balm, and it is superb. The color shows up as a very sheer milky peach. i have also used it on a stubborn dry patch on my elbow. Gone overnight. I have also taken to pressing it on the back of my hands. It has really helped with dryness.
So here I sit ashamed, after bashing so many fruity-florals. But not this one. NL is more complex and much longer lasting than most. It is definitely sweet and does not contain a lot to counteract the sweetness. Rose, lemon, orchard fruits and powder. Somehow it all comes together. And I just adore the bottle. The pottery like kitsch of the bottle makes me smile.
Nice big tablets in this trio. First color is a pale shimmery gold. The second color is a deep rusty pink shade. The last color looks a good deal like Milani Sun Goddess -- a shimmery pinky-peach. All last and last on lids. they are a bit dusty, but are silky and highly pigmented. The middle color is hard to pull off with mid tone skin, as it is almost a vivid blush shade. But blended with one of the other two shades it can work.
Lipstick -Tarte - tarte Lipsurgence Natural Lip Luster in Sweet
darkharbour 8/14/2011 8:25:00 AM
Tarte Lipsurgence pencils are stick glosses in pencil forms. The pencils twist up and do not need sharpening. Sweet is a shimmery neutral pink peach, and on me reads "mauve." A bit too pale for me. Minty taste and tingle on lips.
A stick gloss in a pencil form. The pencil twists up nicely. The gloss has a minty taste and cool feel. Amused is a vivid hot pink. Texture similar to Tarte's cheek stains. Not terribly long lasting on the lips due to the slippery texture, thus I think the term "stain" is a misnomer. Soft and moisturizing on lips.
Lipstick -Chanel - rouge coco shine #44 Sari D'eau
darkharbour 8/14/2011 8:15:00 AM
The Rouge Coco Shines are almost stick glosses. They apply sheerly and a very moisturizing. They do not last long on the lips. #44 is a deep apricot/coral with gold shimmer. It has enough pink to be universally flattering on cool and warm skin tones. No scent or taste.
Eye Primer -Chanel - Eye Shadow Base (Base Ombre a Paupieres)
darkharbour 8/14/2011 8:09:00 AM
This is a nice sheer wash over the lids, but nothing special. I have this in 90 which is a beige-gold. You have to shake it up before you brush it on. It did not cause any creasing, but it did not make shadow hold longer. I do not have very oily lids.
Eye Shadow -Chanel - ombres contraste duo khaki-discret
darkharbour 8/14/2011 8:05:00 AM
This shimmery duo consists of a soft celadon green and a deep rich avocado. These are buttery soft and very pigmented. They stroke on softly and last all day. The celadon shade is so soft it is almost a neutral. the khaki shade works great in the crease or a liner. Very pretty for hazel or brown eyes. Some Chanel powders are dry and chalky; these are not.
Pinky Red opaque cream that is so lovely. Dark warm pink or soft pink red, depending on the angle or the light. Wears like steel.
Wonderful bronzer with a wee bit of shimmer. Perfect deep brown tone, that works well on cooler skin tones. Complete and utter lack of orange in this which is great. Stays on forever and the case is pretty and portable. No scent.
Skincare - Body -Yves Rocher - Monoi De Tahiti Gardenia Oil
darkharbour 8/2/2011 1:47:00 PM
This somewhat thick oil is a staple for me in summer. Since it is 75% cocanut oil, it will solidify in cold weather. The packaging is cute, but it is very easy to overdispense this, as the bottle neck is "open" like a foundation bottle. It might be nicer to have this in a squeeze bottle, that is less slippery. In the summer, I apply this LIGHTLY all over my body on damp, just showered skin. I find it absorbs well and is not sticky. One of my biggest gripes with many body lotions is that they dry sticky and tacky from the emulsifiers and waxes. An oil does not. It would be prudent to wait until it sinks in a bit before you put on your clothes, to avoid an oil stain. The scent is very rich. Not pure gardenia, but gardenia and vanilla. When this goes on, I find it doubles as a fragrance. I have also used it very lightly in my hair, with good results. the key is to use it lightly on damp hair or skin.
Self Tanners -Ulta - Self-Tanning Continuous Spray
darkharbour 7/20/2011 10:42:00 AM
In a word FANTASTIC. The spray applies very evenly and soaks in. It is like water. No stickiness or sliminess in the dog days of summer. Easy to spray upside down. I got Light/Medium and it applied and dried within 2 minutes. One major gripe: the nozzle has to be broken in. I got two cans in a BOGO, and thought I had two defective cans. You have to really press hard to get it to work the first time. The tint is negligible. The scent is somewhat ozoney like hairspray. There is no nasty bouillon cube smell from the tanner in the morning.
