Palettes -MAC - DressCamp x 4 Face Palette
rated 4 of 5
ccmadamoiselle 4/18/2008 12:01:00 AM

MAC's DressCamp x 4 Face Palette (released for 2008 DressCamp, Asia LE) is perfect for spring! From MAC website: Contains limited edition Beauty Powder in DressCamp Pink (a blue mid-tone pink with white pearlized pigments), three Eye Shadows; Sunny Girl (a yellow gold), Golden Gold (a deep golden bronze), Trend (a Neutral tan with gold pearlized pigments and compact-sized 213SE application brush. The Beauty Powder in DressCamp Pink is surprisingly pigmented. Apply with a fluffy blush to disperse the color. The white shimmer is not that noticeable. Looks fresh for spring. After a 10-hr day, I was pleased that it was still on! This BP may restore my faith in MAC blushes. Sunny Girl and Golden Gold are a bit gritty in texture. It takes a lot of e/s to pack on color. Some of the particles fall off the blush. But are they perfectly coordinated with DressCamp pink? Yes! Trend e/s is a gorgeous nude. It's that nude I've been looking for - not too warm, not too cool - my skin but better. The texture is more smooth than Sunny Girl and Golden Gold. All in all, I'm really happy with this palette. Even the e/s brush is decent. Love the metallic packaging and zebra print!

Lipstick -MAC - Too Fab - DressCamp 2008 (LE)
rated 4 of 5
ccmadamoiselle 4/17/2008 11:44:00 PM

MAC's Too Fab lippie from DressCamp (2008) is a gorgeous, pigmented blue-toned pink. MAC online describes it as an intense mid-toned yellow pink. A lustre lippie, Too Fab's texture is creamy and the finish is glossy. It has no shimmer and leaves a pretty pink stain on lips. The zebra stripes on the lipstick case put this lippie over the top! Too Fab's pink matches the DressCamp pink logo on the palette, FYI. Looks gorgeous with the matching pink Fashion l/g or - surprisingly - She-Gold l/g (gold w/ gold shimmer). This LE lippie is an Asia-LE collection, available on the website for a few hours before MUA cleaned it out!! :)

Fragrances -Estee Lauder - Private Collection Tuberose Gardenia
rated 5 of 5
ccmadamoiselle 3/31/2008 10:11:00 PM

I love, love, love Estee Lauder's Private Collection Tuberose Gardenia. I was worriedthe tuberose would turn on me and/or the gardenia would smell like a cupcake. Surprisingly, the burst of tuberose melts into a powdery soft gardenia as the day goes on. The neroli cuts any sweetness without being too green or masculine. I'm impressed by the lasting power. The hammered gold-colored cap looks pretty against the simple glass bottle. An instant fave! From Estee website: Top Notes: Neroli, Lilac, Rosewood Middle Notes: Tuberose Nature Intact and Gardenia. Surrounded by Orangeflower Nature Intact, Jasmine, White Lilies and Orangeflowers Final Notes: Carnation, Vanilla Bourbon

Lip Gloss -Estee Lauder - High Gloss - Blush [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5
ccmadamoiselle 3/30/2008 10:01:00 PM

Estee Lauder's High Gloss in Blush looks so blah in the tube, but it's a pretty fresh pink with a touch of nude. No shimmer. Not sticky. Slight sweet fragrance. Lasting power is decent.

Highlighters -Becca - Pressed Shimmer powder Odette
rated 4 of 5
ccmadamoiselle 3/30/2008 9:47:00 PM

Becca's Pressed Shimmer Powder in Odette is a pretty, shimmery cool bronze. The texture is on par with NARS, blending beautifully into skin. I love using Odette with cool-toned blushes.

Blush -Clinique - Blushing Blush Powder Blush - Bare Nudes (LE Spring 2008)
rated 4 of 5
ccmadamoiselle 3/30/2008 9:29:00 PM

Clinique's Blushing Blush in Bare Nudes (LE Spring 2008) is a trio with three shimmery shades: a bronze, a tawny peach, and a fleshy beige highlighter. This trio is pretty handy when you need contour and highlighter in one palette. Unlike other highlighters, you don't need to layer this one on - and risk looking like Tin Man - to get a glow. This trio works well swirled together with a large powder brush, or used separately.

Blush -Clinique - Blushing Blush Powder Blush - Bare Pinks (LE Spring 2008)
rated 4 of 5
ccmadamoiselle 3/30/2008 9:09:00 PM

Clinique's Blushing Blush in Bare Pinks is part of the Spring 2008 collection. This blush is made of three shimmery shades: a bronzey rose, a rose with a touch of maroon, and a cool pink.Swirled together, you get a pretty flushed pink cheek. I guess you can contour with the two deeper shades carefully, depending on the shape of your face. I use an angled blush brush carefully with this trio, not my NARS Yachiyo, MAC 129, or Sonia Kashuk Large powder brush. The pink shade is a great highlight. This blush trio is limited edition, but I hope my review helps someone else use her trio well!

Lip Gloss -Lancome - Tokyo Plum Blossom - Juicy Tubes World Tour by Christopher Kane (2008)
rated 4 of 5
ccmadamoiselle 3/30/2008 1:36:00 PM

Lancome's Limited Edition Tokyo Plum Blossom JT, released as part of "Juicy Tubes World Tour by Christopher Kane" (Spring 2008), is a lilac-pink with pretty fine silver shimmer. The effect on my lips is subdued pinky nude, which is nice b/c for once, this nude lip look doesn't lean orange, brown, or beige against my C3 skin. There's a pink and white drawing of a woman - very Klimt-like - on the tube. The candy scent is hardly noticeable after the first application. Lasting power as with all JT is excellent. The shimmer makes lips look plump. I can see myself using up this whole LE tube!

Lip Gloss -MAC - Bonus Beat Lipglass - Heatherette
rated 2 of 5
ccmadamoiselle 3/28/2008 12:03:00 AM

MAC Bonus Beat lipglass from Heatherette 2008 is an opaque tan-beige l/g. The concept of a strong nude lipcolor is great, but not when it's so opaque that it can clash with skin tones. Because Bonus Beat is shimmerless, it makes lips look flat and the texture looks gunky. In general, I don't care for "mod" lip looks that require a bowler hat and false lashes to say, "This is couture." I agree with the reviewer below that Sugar Trance (MAC Fafi 2008) can be a gorgeous "nude." Also grab Lollipop Loving l/s from Heatherette 2008 for a similar "Nude But Better" lip!

Lip Gloss -MAC - Sock Hop Lipglass - Heatherette
rated 4 of 5
ccmadamoiselle 3/25/2008 8:17:00 AM

Sock Hop Lipglass from MAC Heatherette 2008 looks like a blah brownish orange in the tube, but it's a gorgeous milky peach. It's like what I wanted MAC Lychee Luxe and BB Peach l/g to be, but Lychee Luxe was a tad too bright and BB Peach was way too strong. Sock Hop is an understated peach l/g that is sheer enough to show your natural lip color, but pigmented enough that people can tell you're wearing a peach l/g. One swipe for a sheer wash of milky peach. Two swipes for a slightly brighter milky peach look. Sock Hop paired with a smokey eye, Lollipop Loving l/s and Alpha Girl BP = perfection.

Lipstick -MAC - Lollipop Loving - Heatherette
rated 5 of 5
ccmadamoiselle 3/21/2008 8:40:00 AM

Lollipop Lovin from MAC Heatherette 2008 is a sheer golden orange creamsicle with green iridescence. Nothing like it in my lipstick collection! The effect is very glowy but not frosty. The texture is nice and slick. Lasting power is okay. This l/s is totally back-up worthy. As the reviewer below notes, it's an unconventional "nude" - and IMO, the perfect color to pair with smokey eyes without looking like you're trying too hard to look fabulous. Looks great with MAC Alpha Girl BP (matte, understated peach pink) and Sock Hop l/g (milky peach).

Pressed Powders -MAC - Beauty Powder - Alpha Girl
rated 4 of 5
ccmadamoiselle 3/21/2008 12:14:00 AM

Alpha Girl Beauty Powder, released for MAC Heatherette 2008 - First, who doesn't love that name? And I love the shamelessly tacky hot pink discoball packaging! That said, Beauty Powders are typically glowy. Alpha Girl is matte milky pink peach. Reminds me of Pout Pearly Queen, though not as pink or pigmented. I actually like it as a blush for smokey eyes, but wouldn't use it as a highlighter. Looks great with Lollipop Lovin l/s and Sock Hop l/g. UPDATE: I used Becca Odette (bronzey glow) to bring out Alpha Girl's pink tones. Perfect pairing! I was able to sweep Alpha Girl over my cheeks as a "highlighter" and got a My Cheeks But Better (MCBB lol) look. Alpha Girl is really for those days when you want to have a pink cheek but don't want the pink to be dominant.

Pressed Powders -MAC - Beauty Powder in Smooth Harmony
rated 2 of 5
ccmadamoiselle 3/21/2008 12:09:00 AM

Smooth Harmony Beauty Powder, re-released for MAC Heatherette 2008, looked pretty orangey on my C3 skin. It is matte. I was expecting a bronzer/contour more muted like MAC Emote. Skip this if you have a bronzer. I prefer Guerlain Terracotta Blondes for a more subtle, bronze glow. Scott Barnes St. Tropez is also far superior - I can use St. Tropez alone w/o blush.

Palettes -Tarte - Health Couture Set
rated 4 of 5
ccmadamoiselle 2/21/2008 9:02:00 AM

My Sephora had Tarte Health Couture Set boxes stacked up on their counters, available for purchase to Beauty Insiders only. I was hesitant to buy it, but the SA (who normally conducts business briskly) said with her face all lit up, "You HAVE to get this set. I love their lipgloss and primer. This is a great value." Sure enough, for $45, Health Couture Set has been a good intro for an MUAer like me that favors h/e brands and knows Tarte as "the line with the cheek stains that are sticky." This set includes Cheek Stain in Blissful (peachy pink), Lights, Camera, Lashes! 4-In-1 Mascara, Lock & Roll Creaseless Eyeshadow Duo in Quartz ("shimmering muted pink"), Borba Inside Out Lipgloss in R & R ("sheer iridescent plum"), and Clean Slate primer. Everything but the Clean Slate primer is full-sized. The only thing I would have wanted was a mini booklet about how to use all the products together. My fave products are: Blissful Cheek Stain - Lovely peachy pink. After blotting the top with a tissue, I patted the top with a Laura Mercier sponge, and then patted the blush on my cheeks. Product smells a little like Jello, but it's not noticeable once you apply it. Imparts a dewy glow. Dries after a few minutes, but yes, my face is a little sticky. I wouldn't advise applying a powder over it. Borba Inside Out l/g in R&R - Gorgeous color and feels moisturizing. The Borba/Tarte people have to tell me how they made a long-lasting gloss that: 1) isn't sticky; 2) doesn't dry out my lips; and 3) lasts for hours. The shine is balmy, not glassy or vinyl. The l/g has a whiff of a fruit punch scent, but it does not make me want to run out and drink Borba necessarily. This knockout product DOES make me want more Borba Inside Out glosses though. :O The Lock and Roll duo in Quartz works well with the sheer plum l/g and peachy pink cheek stain. The loose shadow reminds me of Stila Kitten without the frost. The crease-proof liquid e/s side is great for opening up the eyes - use sparingly and quickly. The liquid side dries quickly and is not blendable once it dries.

Lipstick -MAC - Fun N Sexy- fafi collection
rated 4 of 5
ccmadamoiselle 2/14/2008 9:34:00 PM

MAC Fafi's Fun N Sexy lipstick was the lipstick I was least draw to... until my MAC MA said, "No. Put down Utterly Frivolous. Forget Strawbaby. You need to try THIS." With one swipe, I saw the icy blue flash over a raspberry pink. Wow. No, Fun N Sexy isn't MLBB, but it's pretty darn unique. Wear it with Cult Fave in the center of your lips!
