Powder -Maybelline - Mineral Power Powder Foundation

Ugh, I bought it in two tone and both were ridiculously orange and muddy. It accentuated my pores and the application was chalky although I used a nice kabuki brush, not the garbage it came with. I hated it. I gave them to a friend so she can use them for an art piece.
Lip Gloss -Neutrogena - MoistureShine Lip Soother in Shine
captainflamingo 9/25/2010 3:06:00 PM
I picked up this gloss hoping for a nice tint, as well as moisture and gloss, the SPF was a bonus. But it tasted bad, plastic, minty, fruit? The gloss disappeared in 10 minutes and it had no color whatsoever. It also started to separate within two weeks of getting it and no matter how much I shook it, I just got disgusting rancid water. HATE.
Blush -Victoria's Secret - Beauty Rush Cheek & Lip Tint
captainflamingo 9/25/2010 2:37:00 PM
Pros: Nice smell, natural look Cons: Greasy and waxy feeling, cheap packaging, "pushes" my foundation around. This is not a "tint" at all, merely a tinted tube of wax you paste on your face. I bought it out of curiosity and to fill the 5 for 20 deal. I had it in Just Peachy. It felt like plain wax on my lips and delivered no color and on my cheeks, it gave a nice looking sheer coat of coral but soon faded.
It sounds stupid, but these are my go-to clear glosses. They don'y give me an overly glossy, tacky look over my lipstick but has a lovely light yet shiny look. And they taste like candy! It's not sticky in the least but has a nice shine and is quite moisturizing, too, I think.
Cheap scent, bad quality gloss. Felt like I had... Separated oil on my lips. I bought in the darkest pink they had but there was no color shown on my lips either.
My holy grail item throughout my middle school years. I recently picked this and the pink lemonade with a kid I was babysitting. I don't know why I ever stopped using them! Nothing too moisturizing, but gives me a nice wash of subtle cherry and smells and tastes great! Although Dr. Pepper is not my favorite scent(though I love it, I prefer other flavors LS offers), it has the best 'color payoff', not that they offer any. Anyway, a great thing to just throw in my school bag with a tube of mascara.
The packaging is super cute and a bit vintage-y and the tube is always a plus. It's bright yellow so it's easy to find in my purse, too! For $7.50, it's heavier on the wallet than something I'd normally spend on a balm but I thought it smelled so good, what the heck. It wasn't especially moisturizing, actually less than most things I use but it tastes really good and adds an extra-moist look over lipstick. I might repurchase if it were cheaper, but nothing I can't do without.
Lip Gloss -L'Oreal - HIP Jelly Balm [DISCONTINUED]
captainflamingo 9/25/2010 5:53:00 AM
This product is... Perfect. It has a slight vanilla scent that I adore, and the packaging is black and glass and sleek. MAC comparable packaging. And the product itself... No. Shimmer. Whatsoever! Ugh, what a refreshing change from the glitter adorned glosses I see everywhere. It's really pigmented enough to color my lips really nicely but still sheer enough to make my lips look gorgeous, glossy, and moist. I don't mind the fact I have to dip my fingers to it, but I don't see the "balm" part of it except the feeling. It didn't moisturize my lips or anything but I apply balm before anyway. I have it in Ripe, a coral-red and Succulent, a gorgeous deep pink, and I love them both, either wearing alone or over any lipstick. Especially Ripe over a too-light accidental lipstick. It really gives it a special punch!
Eyeliner -NYX - Eye / Eyebrow Pencil * 901 * Black
captainflamingo 9/25/2010 5:49:00 AM
This eyeliner was no different from Crayola... It was hard but really pigmented. I couldn't line my eyes without jabbing my eyelid. A Wet N Wild 99 cent eyeliner I tried worked better. It wasn't even long lasting.
I used this a few years ago and remember spills all the time(I don't like being careful right before bed), burning sensations, and a heavy perfume. Not exactly qualities I look for in a skincare product. I could have looked over it if it WORKED, but it didn't. It just left my skin dry and patchy and stinging. Waste of money.
Concealers -Victoria's Secret - VS Pro Camouflage FX Concealer Palette
captainflamingo 9/25/2010 5:43:00 AM
The smell is plastic-y, let me start with that because that's the first impression I got. I had high hopes with this product because VS has a great line of cosmetics. But the concealers were as hard as baked clay at first. I tossed the brush it came with as it is just a plastic stick with random bits of fiber on the end and melted the concealer itself to aid with the blending. I use liquid foundation so I usually use concealer over my foundation, but this concealer looks so obvious under my powder, I use it under. Overall, after some intense heat, it blends well enough and there's good pigmentation. But compared to quality, it's not worth the hassle. It's about 2.15 per concealer so I guess it's a good deal but I would not repurchase.
Sunscreen -Neutrogena - Fresh Cooling Body Mist Sunblock SPF 45
captainflamingo 9/25/2010 5:39:00 AM
I love this sunscreen! It's cooling, and has enough SPF and gives my skin a slight glow which I adore. Plus, it smells really good! I love the smell of sunscreen, but this has a little bit of a more... Powdery scent. The only thing is that I'm unsure if I should rub it in and as with moth sunscreens, I feel I use excess or not enough because I don't really control how much goes on where.
Eyeliner -Maybelline - Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner
captainflamingo 9/25/2010 5:34:00 AM
I first bought this in brown and it was near my NC40 skin tone. Useless, but I liked to brush and the consistency so I bought it in black. It leaves a greasy coat on my brush no matter how I wash them so I stick to the brush it came with, which is actually really nice and perfect for the formula of this liner. The color is really intense and dries but slowly enough to blend. It comes off with makeup remover. Overall, it's a good quality product, the only con being the somewhat high price(I got mine for $9, I believe) and the mentioned greasy film it leaves.
Eye Shadow -Maybelline - Cool Effect Liner/Shadow in Cold Cash
captainflamingo 9/25/2010 5:32:00 AM
This product is all things I hate about a pencil times ten. It dulls fast, you lose half the product sharpening it, and it just seems unsanitary. The pigmentation isn't great on my NC40 skin and I usually look good in olive skin but this looked like cheap kiddie makeup on me. Went in the trash, and needless to say, I won't repurchase.
Eyeliner -Sephora - Sephora Liner Electro Glitter Eye Pencil
captainflamingo 9/24/2010 10:06:00 PM
I have this in Night, a blue with silver and blue sparkles. I don't know why I bought it because my mostly neutral collection doesn't have room for it to work. I just used it over black liner and it's quite pretty but it does smudge and uses up very fast. Plus it's not the most easiest to sharpen. I might repurchase other colors if they seem pretty, but I said no for this particular color I have. At $8, it's a decent deal for a quality color eyeliner if you're willing to go through the hassle.
