Styling Products -John Frieda - Brilliant Brunette Shine Shock Leave-on Perfecting Glosser
bunnybee 4/19/2006 12:08:00 AM
I thought my long, straight, semi-shiny highlighted hair didn't need a styling product. I was wrong. When I add a dab of this to my damp/wet hair, then blowdry (not even styling with a brush or anything; pretty much just moving the air around and tossing my hair with my hands), my hair turns out sleek and polished. It's like I just walked out of the salon. The very first time I used it, my friend commented on how shiny my hair was.
I also have rather fine hair, but I don't find that this weighs it down a bit. In fact, my hair somehow looks fuller. I think it's because it makes my layers lay *just right*.
Though I usually don't like coconut scents, I do like this scent because it has that warm caramel quality to it. And, it fades nicely so it doesn't interfere with other perfumes or anything, or cause me to get sick of it. I'm so glad I tried this product!! It's a winner! :)
Edited to add: This stuff actually also helps to hold a curl!
And another tip: Applied too much to dry hair? Just blowdry and comb through. It seems to "soak in" to your hair, and will just leave a silky shine. :)

Brows -Ardell - Brow Sculpting Gel
bunnybee 4/8/2006 9:39:00 PM
I was going to say exactly the same thing madmargeS said: this is cheaper, more in quantity, and probably works better too. Softer brush that is easy to maneuver on the brows, and it leaves brows looking natural but neat. AND I agree about the great scent! It's a sweet little bonus. This product also contains pathenol, so it might help to keep brows thick and healthy. :)

Sunscreen -Neutrogena - Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF 55
bunnybee 4/8/2006 9:34:00 PM
I use this on my face, but only in certain spots that need the extra protection (I'm bad about sun protection, yes. I have oily skin!). I do not find any problems with balling or a white cast, though it should be noted that I don't use foundation over it. I find this to be a rather lightweight, relatively non-greasy facial sunscreen. It does have a slightly herbal fragrance, but I like it a lot. And though my face usually breaks out with fragrance, this has not made me break out at all. :)
EDIT 8/19/07: I've since learned that an ingredient in this sunscreen, oxybenzone (a common ingredient in many chemical sunscreens), can encourage hyperpigmentation. As I am trying to battle some melasma spots, this is exactly what I DON'T want in a sunscreen. So, I've knocked off 2 lippies.

Mascara -Rimmel - Waterproof Volume Flash
bunnybee 3/25/2006 4:24:00 PM
I always try to give Rimmel mascaras a chance, because I love Extra Super Lash and I love Rimmel's prices. I like the skinny brush on this one and the way that it keeps my naturally straight Asian lashes ultra-curled (after using a heated lash curler). However, the clumps in this one are just not worth it. I wouldn't repurchase, and I don't even know if I'll continue using the one I already have (which means that it must be preeeeety bad. :().

Cleansers -Olay - Daily Facials for Sensitive Skin
bunnybee 3/25/2006 4:16:00 PM
I really like these cloths because they give my skin just the right amount of exfoliation to keep breakouts away and my skin nice and smooth. Does not dry out at all, but my skin is combination/oily. I love the fact that it is fragrance-free.
The only thing keeping me from giving this product a full 5 is that it really doesn't remove waterproof eye makeup well. I end up using these cloths for the rest of my face, then using a tiny dab of the Olay foaming SS cleanser to remove my WP mascara. However, I must say that the cleanser on these cloths are so mild that you can actually open your eyes while using them, and it does not sting at all. The Olay foaming cleanser does.
And I have to say that these cloths are fantastic for traveling! Very compact, and no more spilled liquid cleanser!! :)
Edited to add: I've tried the cutting-in-half trick. Not only will it make the box of cloths last 2 times as long, it makes each cloth easier to handle as well! :D Hooray!

Treatments -DERMAdoctor - Picture Porefect serum
bunnybee 3/22/2006 10:20:00 PM
I absolutely cannot believe that this product has gotten such good reviews! When I applied it, it was sticky, stayed sticky, shiny, and did not reduce the appearance of my pores at all! I much prefer Chanel's T-matte, PTR mattifier, and even MoM to this! It is horrible, IMHO. :P

Blush -Tarte - Cheek Stain in Blushing Bride
bunnybee 3/8/2006 10:54:00 PM
This is the lovliest natural-flush shade ever for my tan GGG Asian skin. Flushed was a bit too bright; this one is darker and a bit toned down. Super easy to blend in, and doesn't make my oily skin break out. I put it right at the top of my cheekbones, and it just gives the perfect glowing, happy, healthy, dewey effect.
One thing I realized: it's a lot easier to use if you rub your fingers on the stick, and then rub your fingers onto your cheeks. It is a lot harder to blend when you apply it directly to your cheeks with the stick. ;)

Loose Powders -Laura Mercier - Secret Brightening Powder
bunnybee 1/23/2006 6:38:00 PM
Eep. I hate to be the voice of doom. I don't see anything very special about this product. I normally use mineral makeup with a lip brush to concentrate the makeup as concealer under my eyes, which works great. I applied the LM SBP on top, and I really didn't see any difference at all. It blends nicely and is almost creamy, yes, but it morphs into almost nothing and does not justify the lofty price tag, IMHO.

Styling Products -Dove - Body & Lift Volumizing Mousse
bunnybee 1/23/2006 6:34:00 PM
Love it! I apply this mousse to my straight, highlighted, fine hair flipped over, upside down, to my roots. I also scrunch whatever's left over in my hands into the rest of my hair. It gives me really great volume, whether I leave it to air-dry or blow-dry it. No stickiness or flakes, and the initial smell is nice, but it also doesn't linger for long so it won't interfere with any other scents you might be wearing. Love that it's available at a drugstore price, with drugstore convenience. :)

Treatments -Alpha Hydrox - AHA Souffle 12 percent Glycolic AHA
bunnybee 1/12/2006 11:33:00 PM
I can't believe I haven't reviewed this yet! L0VE. I started off with the AH 10% Oil-free gel *years* ago. This is the perfect step up. It is a very light, fluffy-ish cream, even on my oily skin (hence the "souffle" title). It sinks in very quickly, and even leaves a silky, semi-matte finish. It definitely leaves my skin smoother than it was before, and even has seemed to keep my nose clear of its stubborn blackheads! Has not made my acne-prone skin break out in the least, and I love that AH products are all fragrance-free! $17 might seem a little expensive for a drugstore product, but when you consider that it probably works as well or better as the AHA products that are available at Sephora and department stores, it is actually a fabulous deal. A little goes a long way, but I just wish I didn't have to dip my fingers into a jar. But other than that, this stuff is perfect. :)

Fragrances -J. Lo - Love at First Glow perfume

This smells just like Britney's Curious and Ralph Lauren Blue. Very possibly headache-inducing. Bottle and ad are cute, though.

Cleansers -Paula's Choice - Skin Balancing Oil-Reducing Cleanser
bunnybee 1/5/2006 8:50:00 PM
This is a pretty good cleanser. It does remove all makeup, does not dry my face out, and does not make me break out as there is no fragrance. The best part about this cleanser, IMO, is that it rinses away very quickly. A couple of splashes, and it's completely cleared away with no residue remaining!
However, I would not give this a perfect score because I do not feel that it is spectacular enough to justify paying a little more than drugstore, plus the shipping costs. I do just as well with OoO Sensitive Foaming Cleanser, even if I do have to sepnd a few more seconds rinsing. ;)

Makeup Brushes -Bare Escentuals - Maximum Coverage Concealer Brush
bunnybee 1/5/2006 8:45:00 PM
This is the best of the BE brushes, IMHO. It does not shed, it works with the minerals beautifully, and it feels like absolute silk as it glides over the skin. It is a real luxury to use!

Makeup Brushes -Bare Escentuals - Flawless Application Face Brush
bunnybee 1/5/2006 8:42:00 PM
I agree with the others that this is not the greatest brush. It is rather rough and does shed a lot. But for the price, I guess it is okay. You can get the powder brush from Paula's Choice, which is $16.95, is about the same shape but a little larger, is much softer on the skin, and does not shed.

Masks -Murad - Exfoliating Fruit Enzyme Mask
bunnybee 12/29/2005 3:12:00 PM
I am actually normally an ANTI-fan of Murad products. This is the only one I like, and I actually love it. My trick: I use a little dab of this with my aspirin mask. It helps the aspirin "stick" really well to my face, and it gives me the double-action of a tingly and scrubby AHA/BHA mask in one punch. After I let it sit for about 30 minutes, I scrub the aspirin bits around a little, and rinse it off. NOTHING has made my skin as baby soft.
And I agree with the poster below me...what odor?? Mine smelled fine...and I am very particular about smells.
