Eye Shadow -MAC - Steamy
rated 5 of 5
brookecouture 2/18/2008 9:00:00 PM

I bought this shadow after a dear friend told me that if I mix it with a bit of humid it is the perfect dupe for dementhe e/s. She was right! I mixed them together and got my most sought after shade! I put the mixture on the lid with Antiqued in the crease, then I blended like a mad woman with Grain e/s. I then used Lithograph f/l as a liner. Very pretty on brown eyes. I got compliments all day. Normally I never would have gone near Steamy, now I can't do without it! I would definately repurchase!

Lipstick -MAC - Strawbaby

The first word that popped into my mind when I applied this lippie was "juicy". It looks totally juicy on my lips! I applied it over top of Pink Edge lipglass pencil so it came up a pretty shade of pink on me. This does have some micro-glitter in it but it's no where near over powering and adds that perfect shine. Another thing that is nice is that this isn't that glitter that sticks to your lips even after the lippie wears down/off. I didn't even need to put a lipglass over it like I usually do with lippies. I would definately repurchase this item if it wasn't LE, it's a very unique shade... at least so far ;)

Eye Shadow -NARS - Kalahari Duo
rated 5 of 5

This is by far the most idiot proof eye shadow duo of all time. The shades are perfect together and it makes for a beautifully neutral, on the go eye. I did the lighter shade on the lid and the darker in the crease with graphic brown fluidline from mac and it's PERFECT for everyday, or with a dark/bold lip color. I'm so impressed. This one definately lived up to my expectations in a big way.

Lip Gloss -NARS - Orgasm
rated 5 of 5

I resisted this lipgloss for awhile now. It was especially hard once joining MUA. Finally I gave in and swapped for it. Oh my LORD. It is total HG. If I had to pick ONE thing to wear on my lips for the rest of my life it would be this lipgloss. The color is perfect and gorgeous. It's exactly what I've been looking for!

The price is on the high side, but to me it's worth it since its so perfect.

The only thing I dislike is that it's hard to get out of that skinny little tube!!!! So packaging is a 4, but over all definately 5 lippies and I would most definately repurchase!

Eye Shadow -Milani - Clover
rated 2 of 5
brookecouture 2/6/2008 11:48:00 AM

I searched high and low for this e/s, because of it being the MAC De Menthe dupe. I finally got a wonderful surprise RAOK from one of my fav swappers. While the swatches look similar that is where it ends. Milani is no where near comparable to MAC. MAC e/s have better staying power and pigmentation and shouldn't even be grouped in the same category.

Clover is very pretty. When used yes, it does look comparable to de menthe, but the pigmentation is awful. I tried to pack it on and there were still uneven areas no matter what I did. I've never had this problem with any other e/s. Of course this is my first d/s e/s.

I paired it with MAC humid in the crease and Jealous e/k liner and it does look gorgeous, but I don't expect Clover to stay on for very long. If for some reason it does I'll amend this review a bit.

I gave it 3 lippies because it does serve its purpose in a pinch & of course the price is right. If MAC ever re-releases De Menthe, Clover will be on the swap list. For now, I'll hang on to it.

FYI: an awesome swapper told me a mixture of Humid & Steamy e/s is an exact dupe of De Menthe as well. I haven't tried it yet because I don't have Steamy, but just in case that is what you're looking for there ya go :)

UPDATE: FADED like no other. Totally not cool. I took off another lippie.

Polishes -OPI - Pretty at the Premiere
rated 4 of 5

This n/p didn't wow me at first. After 2 coats I decided to swap it. I did a third coat and now I can't stop looking at it. It is a very pretty deep shimmering ruby, it actually matching the new paint in my dining room "cherry cobbler" lol Needless to say I can't stop staring, and the brush seems wider than other OPI's I own so that is nice too. I wouldn't repurchase though, because this would only be good for fall/winter I can't see myself going through a whole bottle so quickly. I don't regret this purchase and if I had to do it over I would still buy it.

Eye Shadow -NARS - Bohemian Gold Duo
rated 5 of 5
brookecouture 2/2/2008 2:37:00 PM

This is only the 3rd NARS duo I've liked other than Habanera and Earth Angel. It is so beautiful. One of the few NARS duos you can actually use together. I put the coppery side over MAC Constructivist PP and I am just in love... I would definately repurchase.

Blush -MAC - Barbie-Fab

I finally was able to get my hands on this, a BN one from LJ! Anyway, this is a beautiful plummy pink blush, with the Barbie head, which I love. I agree with the other reviewers, it is very easy to over do it. You need a 187 and a VERY light hand. I used the 187 and had to blend the color a little bit with some powder. However it is SO beautiful that it is totally worth the effort. I would rebuy if it wasn't LE.

Eye Shadow -NARS - Earth Angel Duo
rated 5 of 5
brookecouture 1/22/2008 9:53:00 PM

Another home run for NARS! Of all the e/s duos I've tried from them this is only the SECOND one that I've liked. Habanera is the first. I've noticed too, that the only ones I've liked have been "shimmers" so that probably has something to do with it, tho to me they don't look obscenely shimmery.

The shadows look NOTHING like the swatches on Sephora or NARS site. IRL they are a gorgeous olive green and a lovely taupe. I wore them today with MAC Daisychain as a highlighter, MAC Industry e/l and black mascara. I have MAC Springsheen on my cheeks and MAC Neutralzone lipliner/3N l/s & 3N l/g on my lips. The look is amazing and it's one of my Favs.

Earth Angel is a NARS MUST HAVE and I would definately repurchase.

Polishes -OPI - I'd like to thank...
rated 3 of 5
brookecouture 1/19/2008 5:10:00 PM

This is a very pretty polish, however not special enough to warrant over 3 lippies. Its a mauvish shade that can look more purple or pink, depending on how you look at it. When I swatched it at the store I expected it to lean more toward pink all the time.

I think this color could be worn by just about anyone, and I love the wideness of the brush. I wouldn't repurchase.

Blush -MAC - Sheertone Shimmer - Peachtwist
rated 5 of 5
brookecouture 1/18/2008 12:32:00 PM

OMG. this blush is amazing. Where has it been all my life?!!? Its the perfect color. It IS highly pigmented, so after you get a bit on your brush I'd suggest blowing lightly on it to get rid of excess. I can't wait to try it with different looks. It isn't overly frosty and it is the PERFECT shade. I think that anyone could get away with wearing this. HG status for sure!

Makeup Brushes -MAC - Holiday 2007 Heirlooms: 5 Basic Brushes
rated 4 of 5
brookecouture 1/16/2008 11:29:00 AM

I think that this brush set is the perfect starter brush set. I purchased it because I wanted another 239 and an eyeliner brush, as well as another 219. I find that the 219SE is easier to handle for a bold crease and for putting some color under the bottom lid.

I took 1 lippie off because the quality isn't as good as the full size brushes. But they still are fabulous, the 239 is nice and firm for use with pigments. Of course you're getting 5 mini brushes and a holder for only $45 so the quality won't be the same, but these are great to have as extras or as a beginner set to make sure you like them. This one is especially beautiful with the gold handles, and the case they come in is very "fancy". I would purchase again if I needed to.

Eye Shadow -NARS - Bellissima Duo
rated 2 of 5
brookecouture 1/15/2008 3:11:00 PM

So I went through a period of majorly lemming NARS e/s duos. This is because I got Habanera and it was so beautiful. By comparison Bellissima is just not up to par. It looks NOTHING like the swatches on Sephora's website, so be prepared for that. The left side is a frosty white and the right side is a less pigmented, sad version of moth brown from MAC. Its just not impressive. If you're looking for a low maintenance gray-brown eyeshadow, then this is it. If you want drama. Pass. Believe me, there are much cheaper alternatives to this disappointment.

Lipstick -MAC - N Collection ~ 1N
rated 4 of 5
brookecouture 1/12/2008 12:48:00 PM

The MAC website describes this lipstick as a light frosted gold with pink pearl glaze. Once again, like the 3N, I believe this to be pretty accurate. Also like 3N it is pretty sheer and very moisturizing. To get the shade I wanted I had to layer this quite a bit. I think this would be an awesome lippie for spring and summer with a tan. A really hot neutral for a strong eye look. I wouldn't buy it again, simply because it's really nothing special and something similar, if not better, is bound to come along. Its an interesting color though and I see myself using this one quite a bit. UPDATE: a great way to work it with this one is to use neutralzone lipglass liner, the 1N lippie then put 1N lipglass over top!

Lipstick -MAC - N Collection ~ 3N
rated 4 of 5
brookecouture 1/12/2008 3:52:00 AM

This lipstick is described on the website as a milky pastel pink lustre. That is completely accurate. This lippie is pretty sheer with no shimmer. I applied about 3 coats to get to a shade I was into. I found it to be very moisturizing, and it looks really pretty with smokey eyes or a soft look. I gave it a 4 because there really wasn't anything special about it, and I wouldn't repurchase because it's close enough to my fav. Angel that I won't need to.
