Mascara -MAC - Plush Lash

So disappointing! This is the most clumptacular mascara ever. It's wet, sloppy, and clumpy. It did nothing for my lashes but clump them together. Might as well use black ink. Thank God for B2M. Would not repurchase!

Eye Primer -Unlisted Brand - Scandalous - Shadow Base
rated 2 of 5
boo_hiss 1/28/2009 9:41:00 AM

I bought Scandalous shadow base on a whim after seeing a few Youtubers use it but I do not like it. I like the consistency but my eyeshadow creased during a normal workday, and it's the middle of winter, not hot, humid summer. Ingredients: Mineral Oil (Paraffinum Liquidum), Petrolatum, Isopropyl Lanolate, Ozokarite, Beeswax (Cera Alba), Disteardimonium Hectorite, BHT, Propylparaben. (May Contain): Titanium Dioxide (77891), Iron Oxides (77491, 77492, 77499), Talc (77718), Kaolin (77004). The first two ingredients are greasy so no wonder it creases. The good thing about it is that it covers discolorations on the eyelid well, and it's good for loose pigments to stick to but if you want something long wearing don't bother with this.

Liquid -Revlon - ColorStay Makeup with SoftFlex SPF 15 Normal/Dry Skin
rated 5 of 5
boo_hiss 1/22/2009 10:40:00 AM

I am in love with Colorstay foundation! It covers well, goes on smoothly, and stays put all day. I bought a little 1oz pump bottle at the dollar store near my house and I decanted it into that which makes it a lot easier to get the product out. My only complaint about CS is the dumb bottle where you have to pour out what you need. Then when I pour it into the other bottle, a lot gets lost in the transfer because it sticks to the sides. But it isn't expensive so I'll deal. I have normal, slightly dry skin but I bought the oily/combo Colorstay because they were out of the other one and oily/combo works fine for me. I've since bought the normal/dry one but have yet to use it. I think this is HG material, I hope they never stop making it!

Makeup Brushes -MAC - #217 Blending
rated 5 of 5
boo_hiss 1/22/2009 10:29:00 AM

Holy cow, if you like your eyeshadow to look good, buy this brush. I was on the fence about getting it because I'd never seen it in person but when MAC had their FF sale I decided to go with it. It is so awesome. I don't have any brush that can compare with this which was my main concern getting it. You can use it for the lid, crease, highlight and outer V. So useful, especially for someone like me with smaller eyes. I'd repurchase it in a heartbeat.

Lip Treatments -MAC - Lip Conditioner Stick SPF 15
rated 2 of 5
boo_hiss 1/20/2009 9:21:00 PM

This is a nice balm but it's way too expensive for what you get. I only bought it because it was part of the FF sale and I know I'll go through it quickly so I can Back 2 MAC the container. $14.50 for a Chapstick is outrageous. It has kind of a nasty chemical smell and taste, from the sunscreen, I think. That being said it does give your lips a nice gloss and seems to stay on for a long time. However I would not repurchase this.

Polishes -OPI - Fiji Weejee Fawn
rated 5 of 5
boo_hiss 1/15/2009 12:57:00 AM

This polish is a sheer, frosty, nude/beige color. I wore it on my wedding day so I'm especially partial to it. I'd repurchase it because it is a really nice nude color you can wear anywhere.

Skincare - Face -MAC - Fix+
rated 4 of 5
boo_hiss 1/9/2009 2:55:00 AM

I'm about a third of the way through my first bottle of Fix+. I got it at first to use with mineral foundations but I stopped using those so I use it now with normal liquid foundations. I spray my 187 brush once or twice with it, then I dip into the foundation and blend on my face. It make it a lot easier to blend and it spreads the foundation over a larger area. If, after my face is done it looks too powder, I spray some on the brush again and just stipple around my face to get a more natural look. Fix+ has a really pleasant scent and the bottle is very nice, you can lock it so when you're traveling the top won't get pressed on accident. Overall I really like this product but now I know that Camera Ready Cosmetics makes something very similar for a lot cheaper so I might try that next.

Liquid -Clinique - Supermoisture Makeup
rated 5 of 5
boo_hiss 1/6/2009 6:14:00 PM

I've been using this makeup for about a week now, and I like it. I got it because where I live it is SO cold and dry, I was starting to get a weird dry patch of skin on my forehead that I think was exacerbated by my Colorstay foundation, so I thought I would try this instead. It has helped a lot, so I'm concluding that this foundation is extremely moisturizing. It's a nice texture and really easy to blend. I have no idea what glitter other people are talking about. On me this just has a nice, natural, dewey finish, not too matte. The packaging is also great, a clear squeezy tube. I have a feeling this will be unwearable during the wetter spring and summer, at least for me, but I'll save it for wintertime for sure.

Toners -Clinique - Clarifying Lotion #1
rated 5 of 5
boo_hiss 1/4/2009 11:14:00 AM

I like this toner for the dry winter months. I think people that are having problems with it might be using too much. It's not supposed to be dripping off your face. Just get a cotton ball damp and swipe it around. I like Clarifying Lotion #3 for summer but it's too drying for winter, so I use this one instead. Using a toner is something that really improved my skin so I will continue to do it, alcohol or no alcohol.

Moisturizers -Clinique - Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion
rated 1 of 5
boo_hiss 1/4/2009 11:08:00 AM

Scam scam scam! I would not repurchase this. It has no redeeming qualities, not even sunscreen! It's oil, oil, grease, and petrolatum. I don't think all oil is automatically bad for your skin but give me a break! Put something in the stuff to justify charging $20+ for it. I rated it a five for the price because there's nothing useful in it at ALL. I think this is one of the only things I've ever used that gave me pimples. As soon as I stopped using this and went back to my normal Avon moisturizer, my zits went away. I really would like to know why they don't put sunscreen in it when you're supposed to use it in the morning. Oh wait, it's so you'll buy a different Clinique product with sunscreen in it. Scam!

Cleansers -Clinique - Liquid Facial Soap Extra Mild
rated 5 of 5
boo_hiss 1/4/2009 11:02:00 AM

I love this cleanser! It feels really good on my skin. It also has a very pleasant light scent. I don't try to remove eye makeup with it but I do find that it removes my foundation with no problems. One of the first ingredients is olive oil so I'm not surprised that it dissolves Revlon Colorstay so well. I think I'll need something stronger once summer comes and my face turns into an oil slick but this is my HG for the dry winter months.

Skincare - Face -Clinique - 3 Step System
rated 4 of 5
boo_hiss 12/29/2008 7:50:00 AM

My husband bought me a 3 step kit for Christmas and so far I like it! However it's only been a few days so this may be premature. I have the extra mild facial soap liquid, the number 1 toner, and the DDML. The soap and toner are great for me for this time of year, dry winter. I was using toner #3 during the summer and I liked that too, but it was too drying once I wasn't sweating buckets any more. Like I said so far I like this. My skin is a little dry, and I don't break out much. When I use all three of the products, my skin feels very clean and soft. My one sore spot with the regimen is the DDML. Why on earth would they not put sunscreen in it when you're supposed to use it in the morning? Plus the main ingredient is mineral oil, which is very cheap. Besides the DDML I will definitely repurchase the toner and facial soap.

Palettes -BeneFit Cosmetics - Powder Pop!
rated 5 of 5
boo_hiss 12/22/2008 11:26:00 AM

I'm really glad I bought this palette. Pretty much my only complaint with it is the size of the pans. My blush brush can hardly get in. If you want to try all three of these powders, definitely get the Powder Pop and try them all. It's great for travel too, just be careful that the lid doesn't come off somehow.

Concealers -Shiseido - Concealer Stick
rated 4 of 5
boo_hiss 12/21/2008 4:22:00 AM

This is a wonderful concealer. It's creamy, easy to spread, and gives good coverage. I know I need a peach color corrector to totally hide my dark circles but this on it's own looks natural and nice. I rub the stick on the innermost part of my purplish circles, closest to my nose, then I blend outward with my pinky or ring finger, and it looks good, not cakey. I have not yet tried this on blemishes but it works really well on undereye circles. Nice packaging too. Just a tad expensive, but you do get a really good product. For reference I bought the lightest one of the 3 colors, I think it's called Light.

Mascara -Rimmel - Extra Super Lash mascara
rated 5 of 5
boo_hiss 12/16/2008 9:50:00 AM

This mascara is everything Great Lash wishes it could be. Nice lengthening and volumizing, nothing too over the top. And NO CLUMPING whatsoever. I had no idea how really careful I have to be with Voluminous to keep it from clumping until I used Extra Super Lash and it applied like a dream. I just wish the look was a little more dramatic, but overall I have no complaints about this mascara.
