Bath Treatments -LUSH - Dreamtime Bath Melt
bluediva 8/15/2005 2:08:00 PM
OH what a lovely bath this makes! I am not much for bubbles and most bath oils are too perfumy for my sensitive skin. (Same goes for Lush bath bombs.) But I LOVE the bath melts, especially this one. They are SO good on your skin and I haven't found anything else quite like them. This one is great for right before you go to bed, very soothing and mild. I had one melt in the bag en route home from shopping one hot day, so I rate the packaging low. I wish these were not so expensive. Othe Lush Bath melts can be broken in half for 2 baths but this one (my favorite) needs a full melt bar per path for good effect. I don't take baths very often, but when I do, bath melts are the best!

Fragrances -The Body Shop - Chymara Eau de Toilette
bluediva 8/15/2005 1:58:00 PM
Very nice, elegant musky scent. I wore White Musk for years and then got bored with it. This is a wonderful reinvention of the base notes in White Musk, but with lighter, less-sweet mid notes. I got the mini bottle in the 9pack and really like mixing it with Beleaf or Amorito. It's a very nice scent and I got compliments when I wore it alone and with Beleaf. It's one of the most expensive-smelling in the collection and probably the best stand-alone fragrance of them. Has the feel of a fragrance that could be some one's signature scent, but not quite mine.

Fragrances -The Body Shop - Aztique Eau de Toilette
bluediva 8/15/2005 1:47:00 PM
Yum! For once, a perfume with an amber base note that ISN"T paired with heavy florals in the mid and top notes. This moves right past the light, sharp top note very fast, and I smell pear and something more tropical in the mid note. Sweet but not cloying, so this is the only full-bodied fruity scent I've ever found that works for me. Mixes very well with Amorito (smells like chocolate fruit fondue!) and Minteva (lightens it up) and good on its own for a summer night out. I can see this working in winter, too.

Fragrances -The Body Shop - Beleaf Eau de Toilette
bluediva 8/15/2005 1:36:00 PM
Smells like green tea, grass, and tomatoe leaves, base note goes into a dry, woody scent with rose. (Just my impression of it.) I got the sampler 9-pack, and then I got Beleaf and Amorito in the full-size bottles. Each is great on its own, and together they balance each other out nicely, so they are a good pair for maximum range of scents from very fresh to very chocolaty. Beleaf also goes well with Chymara and Minteva. My friend mixed it with Citrella with good results, but I can't wear lemony scents, so I'll skip that combo. On it's own, it reminds me of long-gone much-missed Gap Grass perfume.

Masks -The Body Shop - Skin Focus Re-texturizing Peel
bluediva 3/28/2005 3:29:00 PM
It's a VERY gooey pink peel-off gel mask. You can see the pattern of the skin's surface on the gel after it peels, so I guess it does what it's supposed to do. It was too strong for my senstive skin but my friend had no problem and loved the results. It's probably a good one for mature skin if you're not too sensitive. I agree with the suggestion that a tube would be a much better package.

Other -The Body Shop - Chocolate & Orange Home Fragrance Oil
bluediva 12/24/2004 2:51:00 AM
Yum! I don't care for the cranberry scent, and last years's fig fragrance was dull and murky. So I'm glad TBS brought this new scent in for the holidays. Smells just like those chocolate oranges that you smash onto a table to break up the chocolate wedges inside. I didn't like the body products in this scent, but it works great as a low-key room fragrance.

Lotions/ Creams -The Body Shop - Milk Body Cream
bluediva 4/8/2004 7:00:00 PM
I adore this body lotion. It doesn't irritate my sensitive skin, keeps me feeling moisurized all day, and I love love love the way it feels when it goes on - soft but not greasy, and absorbs quickly to leave skin feeling honestly baby-soft. And it's organic, which I like. Oh, and try the milk bath powder in the same line - it's expensive stuff, but better than any bath oil.

Lotions/ Creams -The Body Shop - Hemp Hand Protector
bluediva 4/8/2004 6:49:00 PM
Good stuff! It works, it lasts, and it isn't greasy. This is my HG dry chapped hands fixer. The herbal hemp scent doesn't linger, and I kinda like it anyways. One tube lasts for ages. It stopped the eczema on my knuckles, kept my hands from turning into scaly claws this past winter. I just wish the tube wasn't metal because it gets pointy corners as the tube gets empty.

Treatments -Sally Hansen - Get Growing
bluediva 3/6/2004 8:45:00 PM
This product actually makes my pathetic nails stronger and smoother, so they don't split or break and can actually grow! NOT a surface fix-up, NOT a glaze that flakes off like polish. It soaks into nails and cuticles and stays there. Kinda feels like light mineral oil going on, but massages in quickly. It takes a few days of use to see major results, but it WORKS. The orange bottle looks silly, but it is clear and lasts for ages. Other products in this line are OK, but this is the best.

Eye Makeup Remover -L'Oreal - Dermo Expertise Gentle Eye Make Up Remover for Eyes and Lips
bluediva 3/6/2004 8:10:00 PM
I have tried expensive stuff, but this is the best for my sensitive eyes. I wear dark e/s most days, and this stuff works well. Some one else commented on the bottle opening being too wide, but I just tilt the bottle w/ a cotton pad pressed over the top, and get just the right amount. I zip the cotton pad under warm water after applying product, then press it against my eye and hold for 10sec before wiping across eye. Works even better, and uses less product.

Lip Treatments -SoftLips - French Vanilla spf 15
bluediva 3/6/2004 7:03:00 PM
I have tried all of the flavors, and I like Vanilla the best. I use this every day. A word of warning - don't apply Softlips under all-day lip colors like CG Outlast. It makes the color peel off after a few hours in the most disgusting way. That's not a complaint, just a comment from personal experience. I'm sensitive, but I've never had any reaction to this product, been using it for almost 10yrs. I have tried so many lip treatments, and this inexpensive little tube is the one I always keep in my pocket.

Lips -The Body Shop - Lip & Cheek Stain
bluediva 1/29/2004 12:38:00 PM
A beautiful boost of natural-looking color! It lasts 8hrs, doesn't dry my lips, and makes me look like I've got naturally well-colored lips, not like wearing lipstick. It looks great with a bit of gloss over top, and it's a great way to use up seldom-used lip glosses. UPDATE >>> They've discontinued the berry and red colors and now there's only the hot pink. My rating goes down from 5 lippies to 2. Still a good product, but only if you can wear hot pink!

Masks -The Body Shop - Honey & Oat Scrub Mask
bluediva 1/6/2004 4:17:00 AM
This is the ONLY mask I have ever used that doesn't irritate or burn at ALL on my fair, sensitive skin. I run screaming when I hear about the "tingling sensation" of a mask - that means it burns! But not this stuff, not at all. Kinda un-glamorous smell, but not bad. I put it on, hop into bath, rub mask into my face after 10min, then gently wipe off w/ face cloth. Leaves my skin feeling baby-cheek soft without redness, dryness or that "scrubbed" feeling.

Cleansers -The Body Shop - Passionfruit Cleansing Gel
bluediva 9/18/2003 4:06:00 AM
Long-time fave. It was perfect for my oily-but-sensitive skin in my teen years, and I've recently returned to it as my daily cleanser for summer. There is nothing quite like the scent! It's what brought me back to this product after 10 years. My skin is combo/dry now (still sensitive), but I bought it anyway because I adore the scent and it's a refreshing mild (soap-free) cleanser. This is what any "gel" product should feel like - no oily residue, but doesn't strip skin, either. I can compensate for the slight tightness I get from this gel by skipping toner. This stuff makes me feel happy. How many cleansers can do that?

Lotions/ Creams -The Body Shop - Coconut Body Butter
bluediva 9/18/2003 3:23:00 AM
New non-greasy formulations for Body Shop Body Butters are a great improvement. I LOVE the heady-sweet scent of this, but not every day. This is a yummy treat to apply lightly over damp skin right after you step out of a hot bath, while the room is all warm and steamy. Leave it on for a few minutes before dressing - it's very rich, takes a few minutes to absorb. Also keeps hands soft in winter. The scent lingers as a mild sweetness all day, detectable if some one hugs you, but not any further away. This isn't my #1 body moisturizer, but I adore it on grey days when I need a bit of comforting and a wiff of summer sunshine.
