Lip Gloss -Sally Hansen - Diamond Lip Treatment in Always Ascher
birdmadgirl 1/1/2007 1:34:00 AM
This is a pretty decent lip gloss. As others have mentioned, it goes on as a sheer wine color with lots of glitter. It's nice glitter, though--not chunky glitter that makes you feel like you have sand on your lips. The staying power is not so hot--30 minutes tops for me. I really like this on top of wine-colored lipstick.

Lipstick -Maybelline - Superstay lipcolor
birdmadgirl 10/26/2006 12:03:00 AM
I picked this up in Wildberry fully expecting to hate it. Every other all-day lipstick has been a huge disappointment, so why would this one be any different? My first inkling that this one might be something great came when I put it on. It went on smoothly. It didn't dry immediately, so I was able to rub my lips together and get a good, even coat. I waited two minutes and put on the balm, which also is nice. It's not too slippery, not too shiny. Then the real test--how long was it going to stay on? It stayed on a good 12 hours, and then it nicely faded off. It didn't chip off, flake off or ball off like every single other all-day lipstick. I've been using this non-stop for a week now and I love it. I love the color--Wildberry is a purply-rosey-pink. It's definitely an attention getter. I like this so much that I went and bought another one (same color) tonight.

Lip Gloss -Maybelline - Shiny-Licious Passions Garnet
birdmadgirl 10/10/2006 9:45:00 PM
I believe Passion's Garnet is LE this fall. I had pretty much given up on this line because I like a lot of color on my lips and these Shiny-Licious glosses are so sheer. I saw this at Ulta, though, and had to buy it. I've been pleasantly surprised with this one. It's still sheer, but it's buildable. It's not quite red and not quite a plum color--it's somewhere in between and it's really pretty. Lasts pretty well for a lip gloss, too. The only thing I don't like about this gloss is the smell. It smells like Coke and that completely grosses me out. It's really strong and the smells lasts for a long time. (I hate Coke--can you tell?!) It's so bad it almost makes me not want to ever wear this gloss. Smell aside, I really like this gloss and will repurchase if I run across it again.

Lipstick -Revlon - Colorstay Lipstick--Sheer Plum
birdmadgirl 10/10/2006 9:36:00 PM
I'm not impressed with Sheer Plum at all. I like the color--a deep plum color. It looks great with my pale, cool-toned skin. That's all I like about it, though. The last powering is crappy--maybe two hours, tops. It dries my lips out like crazy. It wears off unevenly, leaving a dark line around the outsides of my lips (making me look like a trashy Bratz doll). And it stinks to high heaven--it's very chemical smelling. This color in a different formula would be fine, but this one doesn't work for me. I'm disappointed. The Colorstay foundation is a staple for me, and I expected to like this Colorstay lipstick just as much.

Lip Gloss -L'Oreal - Colour Juice Wild Orchid
birdmadgirl 10/10/2006 9:30:00 PM
Wild Orchid (#210) is a gorgeous medium pink. It's pretty sheer but can be built up, if needed. Like all the bajillion other Colour Juices, it smells like something sweet and lasts surprisingly well for a lip gloss. I found this at Ulta and will pick up another if I see one.

Liquid -Maybelline - Instant Age Rewind foundation
birdmadgirl 9/8/2006 1:39:00 AM
I strayed from my normal choice of Revlon's ColorStay and picked this foundation up last week. I so want to like this, but it just doesn't work with my skin. The color I picked up (porcelain ivory) is perfect for my deathly-pale skin--and that's wonderful because most foundations are too dark and too yellow or too pink. I like the way it goes on. I love how I look after I get it on. But...about 3 hours later? Not good. The grease I produce while wearing this foundation is horrifying. Forget about all the oil overseas. Just come see me and my forehead. Yuck! I also have started breaking out since using this (and I'm talking huge, sore, red, inflamed, volcanic zits, which is really pissing me off because I just got my skin under control a few months ago). Maybe dewey and greasy are the same thing--I don't know. I do know, however, that greasy is not a look I ever want to wear again, regardless of whether it's in or not.

Lipstick -Maybelline - Moisture Extreme in Misty Lilac
birdmadgirl 9/8/2006 1:30:00 AM
This is a pretty decent lipstick. I don't know where they got the name for this, because there's no lilac in this shade. It's a medium pink that's really very pretty. It has that satiny-sheen to it that I like and it stays on well. It feels nice on my lips, too. It doesn't feel heavy or greasy at all. It also smells good--like a watermelon Jolly Rancher. I normally don't care much for Maybelline products, but this one's pretty good. I doubt I'll repurchase simply because I have a million and one pink lipsticks.

Lip Gloss -Max Factor - Colour Perfection Luxe Gloss-Maui Mauve
birdmadgirl 9/8/2006 1:25:00 AM
At first, I didn't think I cared too much for this gloss, but I keep reaching for it over and over again. I'd call it a dusty rose color. It's really MLBB for me. It has decent staying power for a gloss and is pretty pigmented. I like that I can just slap it on without having to look in the mirror or having to worry about it looking OK. It's a good color for me (blonde hair, fair, cool-toned skin). It smells a little strange, but it's nothing to bothersome.

Lips -Max Factor - MaxWear Lip Color
birdmadgirl 9/8/2006 1:17:00 AM
Oh. My. I really wanted to like this. I purchased this in Chartreuse Blend, which took me about 3 weeks to find. Everytime I went to Wal-Mart to get it, it was sold out. I wonder if there are lots of other severely disappointed customers out there ... The lipcolor is a shockingly dark purple. On me, it went on every bit as dark as it looks in the tube. My lips are as smooth as a baby's butt, and yet this crap still went on in uneven splotches. It looked horrible no matter how many times I scrubbed (literally) it off and re-applied. One time, when I was just hanging around the house, I put it on and forgot about it. At the end of the day, it had faded down to a really nice wine color, but that's not terribly helpful on the days when I actually have to leave the house at some point. I seriously would never wear this stuff unless I were on my way to Goth Night or if I were dressing up as a vampire for Halloween. I normally love a strong lip color, but this is just too much. It looks almost black on me. Yikes. (The green gloss part is kind of cool, however. It looks good on top of my other less-frightening lip colors).

Conditioner -L'Oreal - Vive Pro Color Vive for Highlighted Hair
birdmadgirl 9/8/2006 1:06:00 AM
This didn't work for me at all. It did manage to accomplish the impossible, however. It made my long, thick, sort of coarse hair completely limp. That was a first.

Shampoo -Pantene - ICE SHINE

I am using this with the matching conditioner and I love both so far. My hair has never looked better. It really is super shiny and soft. I'm really impressed.

Conditioner -Pantene - ICE SHINE
birdmadgirl 9/8/2006 12:58:00 AM
I know people rag on Pantene for all the silicone crap in their products--but I like it anyway. I have long, extremely thick hair that swerves hard toward being coarse (and kind of damaged because of the blonde I keep putting on it and my unrelenting use of my flat iron). Whatever it is that's supposed to be bad works out just fine for me. It makes my wild hair manageable. I love this conditioner. My hair is super soft, smells great and is shinier than it has ever been. I haven't liked a product this much in a long time.

Lips -The Body Shop - Lip & Cheek Stain
birdmadgirl 8/20/2006 3:46:00 AM
I have a love-hate relationship with this. Sometimes when I wear it, I think it looks great. Other times, not so good. The consistency is very watery and it sometimes looks streaky on my lips (I haven't had the nerve to try it on my cheeks). When it goes on well, though, it really looks good. I won't repurchase.

Fragrances -J. Lo - Live Luxe
birdmadgirl 8/20/2006 3:40:00 AM
Ok, I didn't want to like this just because I'm sick of celebrities and all their lines--clothes, shoes, perfumes. Just go away, please. But then I saw this bottle, which is absolutely adorable. So then I sniffed. And then I bought the biggest bottle and the shimmer lotion, too. I love this perfume so much. I keep sniffing myself! I really like that this perfume has serious lasting power on me; most don't last long at all. Paid $77 for the 3.4 oz. bottle and lotion set.

Lip Gloss -Max Factor - Colour Perfection Gloss-Panama Peach
birdmadgirl 8/20/2006 3:30:00 AM
I normally shy away from anything that says "peach" in the title because with my ghostly white skin, it just means I'm going to turn orange. Panama Peach, however, is more of a pinkish coral color that works just fine for me. I'm really liking it quite a bit right now because it really is different from the usual rose or plum shades I wear. It lasts pretty well for a lip gloss and it's not a sheer lipgloss. It's almost like a liquid lipstick. I like it. It's a good shade for summer.
