Lotions/ Creams -Roger & Gallet - Gentle Nature Body Lotion in Pink Grapefruit
rated 5 of 5

This is a great everyday body moisturizer. The scent is extremely subtle and has none of the false, sickly sweet scent that many grapefruit products have. It has a fairly creamy consistency that's not watery at all but nevertheless absorbs quickly and without a greasy after-feel. Inexpensive, too, at only $15 for a huge tube!

Blush -Shu Uemura - P Wine 25

This color looks exactly like NARS Desire in the pan and on the cheeks, except that this has very fine silver and gold shimmer to it -- GORGEOUS. It's basically a very opaque, bright candy (almost neon) pink in the pot but applies as a sheer, girly flush. Pic in profile.

Lipstick -Giorgio Armani - Sheer Lipstick #17
rated 4 of 5

I'm not really undestanding the mango color description in other reviews because this isn't yellow or orange. It's a beautiful sheer pomegranate with a hint of a coral orange to it. What keeps me from giving this a 5 is that is has gold glitter in it. Not shimmer particles like you see in metallic lipsticks, but actual gold glitter! I find that the glitter tends to scatter a bit and is far too chunky to be appropriate for lips, though from afar I'll admit it's a very pretty effect. This would be one of my HG lippies if not for the stupid glitter... was limited edition and is no longer available.

Blush -Chantecaille - Mood
rated 4 of 5
big_eder 8/7/2003 11:06:00 AM

Mood is a muted mauvey rose color, very cool-toned. It has the same drabness that Whisper has, but goes on a slightly brownish rose --it's very light so I don't think this would show up very well on anyone darker than a FFF/LLL.

Blush -Chantecaille - Emotion
rated 5 of 5
big_eder 8/7/2003 11:03:00 AM

Emotion is a true medium-bright, candy pink that actually goes on more like a baby pink. There's no shimmer at all so it looks very natural. As with all the Chantecaille blushes, this has great texture and staying power. It's probably one of the blushes I reach for most -- if you like NARS Mata Hari or Shu Pink 30, you'll love this too!

Blush -NARS - Lovejoy
rated 5 of 5
big_eder 7/17/2003 2:53:00 PM

Both Lovejoy and Outlaw have the same style and color of shimmer as the beloved Sin blush. Lovejoy is a very dark peach with extremely fine gold shimmer that looks almost bronzy in the pan -- there is also the slightest hint of a warm rose underneath. On the face however the rose color really blooms, and the bronze disappears, so the end result is a very warm, *flushed* but not *bright* glow. I thought this would be too warm-toned for me but I was wrong -- it looks very natural and is a fantastic alternative when you're not looking for a bright or vivid cheek. This will look wonderful on everyone but PPP, IMHO.

Moisturizers -Chanel - Rectifiance Nuit (Night Lift Restoring Lotion)
rated 3 of 5
big_eder 7/16/2003 12:06:00 AM

I got several sample packets of this, which is why I decided to try it. It is a bright blue, gel-based moisturizer that smells quite strongly of "marine" elements. I have no idea how much it costs but it did absolutely nothing for my skin. The multi-hydroxy acids which were supposed to be 'lifting' my skin apparently went to sleep with me. Don't waste your money.

Moisturizers -Chanel - Rectifance Day Lift SPF15 Moisturizer
rated 4 of 5

This is a nice moisturizer with SPF, but it's nothing special. It smells nice and sinks into skin quickly. It feels quite thick while being spread so you need quite a bit to cover the whole face, but it sinks in quickly and leaves a lovely sheen to the skin. The back of the bottle has all this talk about multi-hydroxy acids but I honestly have not noticed any kind of exfoliating effect from this. Better than most moisturizers w/SPF because it doesn't break me out, but again, nothing fantastic.

Eye Shadow -Christian Dior - 5 Colour Eyeshadows
rated 5 of 5

Wow. All I can say is **WOW**. These are the most amazing-quality eyeshadows I've ever come across. Till now, I swore by Shu, Chantecaille, Poole and Armani for the softest, silkiest, most pigmented shadows, but Dior definitely wins, hands down! In fact, I'd go so far as to say Dior is to Chantecaille as Chantecaille is to Clinique. These shadows are so silky the only liner I can compare them to in terms of smoothness of application is my Lancome Artliner, and that's a liquid liner! I agree that some of the shadow combinations are a little odd -- I have 202 Images, and the colors while beautiful on their own would make me look like a peacock if I actually wore them all together. But the quality is unparalleled.

Moisturizers -Darphin - Nourishing Aromatic Night Cream
rated 5 of 5
big_eder 7/5/2003 11:06:00 AM

Why oh why can't I find this stuff online or in stores anywhere?? I received a sample of it from Europe and it is hands down the best night cream I've ever tried. The consistency is very creamy, but not too heavy, though it leaves a sheen on the face and takes a while to absorb -- this doesn't bother me as it's a night cream and I wear it to sleep. But the miracle is in the morning: my skin *glows*, is incredibly soft, and the texture of my skin looks so refined it's as though someone took a picture of me under soft, diffuse light. Since it's a sample I have no idea what the active ingredients are, but this is wonderful! If you know where to get it, please page me!

Lipstick -Giorgio Armani - Sheer Lipstick #8
rated 4 of 5

This is a beautiful sheer raspberry. Much like the sheer #6 (which is a sheer red), this lipstick seems have to no blue or brown undertones at all. It's really just a neutral, true bright raspberry. The color is bright, which may not be for everyone, but it's so sheer that it's very tasteful and not at all garish. Standard Armani quality and formulation: wonderful! Edited: took off one lippie because I decided the color isn't particularly versatile or unique, unlike some of the other colors.

Highlighters -Bobbi Brown - Shimmerbrick Shimmer Brick Compact (All colors)
rated 2 of 5
big_eder 7/3/2003 4:16:00 PM

I was really excited to try this after all the rave reviews. Well, I don't really understand why this is labelled as a "blush" because the colors clearly put it in the "bronzer" category (as the smart ladies here at MUA realized. Anyway, this was pretty but really irritated my skin -- I got tiny bumps all over my face within two hours of the MA putting it on me. It also has a slight scent to it which I find off-putting. Pretty but not worth the money, and if you have sensitive skin like me, beware!

Lip Gloss -Giorgio Armani - Shine Lipgloss #5
rated 5 of 5
big_eder 7/1/2003 4:41:00 PM

This is a gorgeous, sheer berry red with full-sized red glitter in it. I really hate glitter and was afraid to try the gloss on, but unlike most glosses with glitter there isn't much glitter in here at all, so on the lips it just provides a subtle shine. Staying power is okay, not great, but it does leave a nice stain behind and the texture is divine -- not sticky, very smooth, and best of all: NOT THICK!

Blush -Giorgio Armani - Sheer blush #4
rated 4 of 5
big_eder 7/1/2003 4:38:00 PM

This is a very pretty blush that would only work for warm skintones. My skintone is neutral and while I can wear most cool and warm colors, this shade made me look weirdly sunburned. Could be used for contouring but why would you use such a pretty and expensive blush just for that? Like all Armani blushes, this one stays put all day and does not fade. Incredibly fine texture.

Blush -NARS - Sin
rated 5 of 5

God this is a gorgeous blush. I really never liked plummy blushes much, but I finally got this in a palette and tried it -- gorgeous! It's extremely subtle and gives a sophisticated look to the face, as opposed to a bright/fresh/pretty look that you get with Mata Hari and Orgasm.
