Lip Liners -MAC - Dervish Lip Pencil
archangeli 1/29/2005 12:07:00 PM
This is a beautiful YLBB pink-toned lip liner. It is gorgeous on its own with a gloss on top but I like to use it under my nude lipsticks to bring out the pink in them. This is stunning under Jubilee. This is a very versatile color. I like that MAC’s lip liners aren’t drying and apply smoothly and the color lasts a long time. Definitely a staple!

Lipstick -MAC - Lustre in Sophisto
archangeli 1/29/2005 12:06:00 PM
This is a very pretty berry-toned color. It looks very dark and intimidating in the tube, but when swiped on the back of the hand it is almost identical to Viva Glam V. It is gorgeous!! Since it is a lustre texture it goes on quite sheer, almost like a gloss. I like to wear this on top of Dervish lip liner since it brings out the pink tones of this lipstick.

Blush -MAC - Mountain High
archangeli 1/28/2005 9:14:00 PM
I ADORE this blush. In the pan, it looks like Plum Foolery, but without the glitter. It is a gorgeous berry-plum shade. Since this is a sheertone you can layer it to get your look "just right." I love all the Sheertone blushes, and this is no exception!!

Eye Shadow -MAC - Eye Shadow in Quarry

Nice pink-toned medium brown, matte finish. This is a nice "normal" color, but you can find similar shades in practically every line.

Shampoo -Matrix - Biolage - Hydrating Shampoo
archangeli 1/4/2005 8:15:00 PM
This is a great shampoo for color-treated hair. It has a mild detergent, foams up nicely and doesn’t leave hair feeling stripped or dry. It smells of pineapple and coconut – tropical and fresh! I ended up with enough sample packets of this shampoo to last almost 2 weeks and I think that I will buy some when I run out of my Aveda Rosemary Mint shampoo. This shampoo isn’t outstanding, but it does what it claims.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Peridot
archangeli 1/4/2005 8:15:00 PM
Price: $15.00 (CDN)
This is a limited edition shade that came out with MAC’s Adorn collection. Because it is a LE it only comes in pot form. This color is virtually identical to Aquadisiac. In the pan Peridot is a bit lighter than Aquadisiac, and Aquadisiac is a bit greener, but when worn they can hardly be told apart. Both of these colors are Lustre formulas so they are a bit difficult to work with. Peridot is a seafoam green with lots of silver glitter in it. The glitter can get all over your face if you are not careful. I bought this to collect but it is not one of my favorites.

Eyeliner -MAC - Powerpoint eyeliner in Permaplum
archangeli 1/4/2005 8:13:00 PM
I’ve been looking for something a less finickly than the Bobbi Brown Gel eyeliners and I love the MAC Powerpoint pencils! Permaplum is a good match to BB’s Violet Ink, but not as metallic. It wears all day, doesn’t give me racoon eye, doesn’t smudge and is water resistant. I love this pencil!

Eyeliner -Tony & Tina - Herbal Glitter Pencil [DISCONTINUED]
archangeli 1/4/2005 8:13:00 PM
Price: $19.00
I have these pencils in Clear Gold and Clear Silver. I bought them for the holidays on a whim. They are pricey for the small pencils. They come boxed with a pencil sharpener and has a smudger sponge tip on the back of the pencil. These pencils are clear, with lots of glitter suspended in it. The glitter is long lasting but the pencils wear down quite quickly. I’m not sure I’d repurchase these.

Foundations -Bare Escentuals - Summer Bisque
archangeli 1/4/2005 8:11:00 PM
Price: $26.00 for 2.5g in a sifter jar
This is one of BE’s Multitasking Minerals which they market specifically as a concealer. I usually wear BE 2.3 Foundation in the summer but I found that in the winter months this shade is a better match. I am a MAC NC30/35. This wears just like the BE foundation and I’ve received many compliments on my porcelain-like complexion when wearing it. This product contains an SPF20 which is a bonus, but I still wear a moisturizer with sunscreen underneath. My regular comments about BE foundation still apply to this product – it minimizes shine throughout the day, controls oil better, I can nap in it and not worry and it doesn’t make me break out.

Lip Liners -MAC - Whirl
archangeli 1/4/2005 8:10:00 PM
Whirl is a very close match to my natural lip color. I like using it to define arch of my upper lip and shade my lips a bit before applying lipstick. Because it is more rose-toned than MAC Spice liner, this can be worn under a wider selection of lipsticks. Off the several liners that I own, I reach for this one most often.

Makeup Brushes -Smashbox - Crease #15
archangeli 1/4/2005 8:08:00 PM
Price: $37.00 (CDN)
I love this brush! In shape it is similar to the MAC 219 “pencil” brush, but the head is larger and this brush is made of squirrel hair. It is very soft, dense and well-tapered. I use it for packing in colors on the inner corner of my eyes, sheer washes all over the lid and applying a brow highlight. I really love Smashbox’s brushes – they are very high quality and finely crafted!

Makeup Brushes -Sephora - Dome Sable Eyeshadow Brush
archangeli 1/4/2005 8:07:00 PM
Price: $18.00 (CDN)
This brush is great for precise application of powdered eyeshadows like MAC pigments or BE glimmers. It is firm, dense but soft. The handle is short, so you can get right up close to a mirror. This is a nice little brush.

Bath Treatments -LUSH - Fairy Jasmine Bath Bomb
archangeli 1/4/2005 9:26:00 AM
Price: $5.40 (CDN)/each
I bought Fairy Jasmine because I love the jasmine scented products from LUSH. This is one of their limited holiday ballistics. The ball appears a light lavender color but it doesn’t tint your bath water any color. It contains TONS of iridescent purple glitter 0 like the MAC “Reflects” glitters. The glitter sticks to your skin and no amount of scrubbing will get it off. For about 3 days I was finding glitter in my towels, clothes, bedsheets, carpet, keyboard, backpack – you name it and there was purple glitter! I can deal with that, but the random specks of glitter that clung to my face were the most frustrating. It’s hard to be taken seriously at work when you look like a pixie! If you like jasmine, stick with All That Jas – all the scent without the glitter. These are a decadent treat for me since they are expensive and only last about 30 seconds in the bath.

Powders -LUSH - Silky Underwear Dusting Powder
archangeli 1/4/2005 9:24:00 AM
Price: $9.70 (CDN) for 100g
This is one of the more reasonably priced items from LUSH considering most of their soaps and bathbombs are quite expensive. It has a pretty jasmine scent – so if you are a fan of Alkmaar soap or the All That Jas ballistic this is right up your alley! On the flip side, if you like the Silky Underwear, check those 2 products out too. This is a cornstarch based powder that leaves your skin soft, silky to the touch and lightly scented. The container is poorly designed – think of Kraft’s Parmesan cheese sprinkler – one very big hole, or a bunch of small holes. Either option makes a huge mess. The product itself is very nice and luxurious.

Bronzers -MAC - Mineralize Skinfinish - So Ceylon [DISCONTINUED]
archangeli 1/4/2005 9:23:00 AM
Price: $26.00 (CDN)
This is much pricier than the usual MAC blush and with all the rave reviews I was expecting it to be spectacular. I was less than impressed with Porcelain Pink Skinfinish, and this color was also very disappointing. I used the MAC 187 to buff it on and it barely showed up on my NC30 skin. I noticed a bronze shimmer, but it took a lot of layering to get that effect. I tried again using the MAC 129 blush brush and the result was mildly better but not mindblowing. I cannot imagine using this all over my face because it gives my cheeks a very fake orange cast. To give any idea of how difficult this product was to work with, this is 10x sheerer than MAC’s Sheertone blushes.
