Lotions/ Creams -Unlisted Brand - Glysomed

Wow! I can't believe this stuff hasn't been reviewed. I absolutely love it. I am a hand lotion addict (I use it every time I wash my hands) and have tried just about everything out there. This stuff is absolutely fantastic. Very moisturizing and quick absorbing. Not greasy at all. Contains glycerin, which I know some don't like, but it seems to do wonders for me. Also comes in a nice little tube that I can carry around in my purse and I can get it at the drugstore! (Note - it's also available in unscented)

Skincare - Body -Unlisted Brand - Adidas 24hr Control Absorbent-Deo

This stuff supposedly has some new technology involving cotton in it. Well, whatever it is, really seems to work for me. I use Certain Dri + this (to deal with any additional odor issues) and it's totally worked. Great fragrance, great absorbing/deodorizing power.

Deodorants -Unlisted Brand - Certain Dri

I'm on my fourth bottle of this and I'm not lookin back! It has been a huuuuuge help to me. I have long been annoyed with anti-perspirants that left yellow stains on my white shirts and have always had "excessive perspiration". Well, this stuff is an absolute godsend for both of those issues. I'm knocking off one lippie because it sometimes causes some redness & irritation, because the packaging is annoying (as a lot of other reviewers said, lots of leakage), and because I often still have to use a deodorant (been using the new Adidas) during the day to deal with any odor issues. However, one bottle lasts forever for me and, on balance, all the pluses sure outweigh any minuses!

Fragrances -Nanadebary - Bronze

Was very excited to try this, given that the description made it sound pretty unique. Much to my dismay, to my (admittedly) untrained nose, this smells like cheap drugstore powder (with - I swear - a little bit of skunk). That is ... while it lasts, which on me is a couple of hours, max. Fortunately, I only had gotten a sample, so I hadn't spent $120+ on it. I tried it a couple of times, even varying the amount that I spritzed on ... from a little to a lot ... to account for some reviewers saying about this & other Nanadebarys that you need to put on a lot to get the full effect. Nope. Still not liking it.

Lip Gloss -Milani - Crystal Gloss - Secret (#12)

This gloss is a wonderful nude color that looks great - even on my fair skin. It has an absolutely wonderful smell ... cake-y ...mmmm ... and a nice gloss texture. Like other reviewers, was a little worried when I saw the color in the tube (looks very thick and weird-pink), but it goes on much more sheer. Perfect look and perfect price!

Polishes -Stila - Nail Shimmer- Bona Dea
rated 3 of 5

The color is really nice (sheer and natural), and it seems easier to apply than a lot of other brands I've tried. However, I do agree with the earlier review that said it chips quickly. I've tried it with a variety of base and top coats and it always peels and chips very quickly - lasting two days, at most.

Fragrances -Hermes - Un Jardin sur le Nil

Love this scent. I usually can't stand Hermes perfumes (they smell old-ladyish to me). I really liked this when I tried it first, but didn't buy it right away. I think it has a really interesting, unique green smell. Not at all like what I normally like (which tends to be a lot more floral and/or fruity). To me this smells like lush, green vegetation with some floral undertones. (I don't really smell the "green mango", but then I have no idea what a green mango smells like). A very nice fragrance for summer.

Eyeliner -NARS - Liquid in Bullitt
rated 2 of 5

Enh. I found this to be slightly less than just okay. I liked the color, but that was about it. On me, it didn't last at all, and when it comes off, it flakes off in a very messy, ugly way. (I have pale skin, so the flakes really show). Ick. Also, the packaging is junk!!!! If you buy it, throw away the brush that comes with it immediately. It's teensy-weensy and short. If you don't lose it or accidentally throw it away, when you dip it in the container, it gets covered with globs of liner, and that then gets all over your fingers. Also, it's a weird consistency - thick and clumpy - that is really hard to get onto the brush. In short, don't waste your money. If you're spending this much on an eyeliner, you want it to be a little more mistake-proof.

Eyeliner -LORAC - Creme Eyeliner Palette

Oh my goodness! I purchased this on a whim - like so much of my makeup (I was even worse before I discovered MUA) - and I am SO GLAD I did!! Like one of the earlier reviewers, I am getting rid of my eye pencils once and for all! I love the fact that you can use this wet or dry. At first, I found it a little hard to use dry, but once you get the hang of it, it's really easy. In fact, in the past, I've used both liquid and pencil liners, and I find this so much easier and mistake-proof to apply than either one. Also find it to be much more versatile - can do a thick line for "smokey" eyes or a thinner, more subtle one. Love the brush that's included in the case. Love the amazing colors and the fact that you get so many in one purchase. In short, love everything about it!!!!

Eye Shadow -LORAC - Rhapsody
rated 5 of 5
amhirst 6/25/2005 7:05:00 PM

I adore this beautiful wash of blue-purple color. Just the right amount of shimmer (a tiny bit) makes it very wearable day or night. I have pale skin and green eyes, so I was worried it might be too dark, but just the right amount of sheerness. Also dark enough with enough purple that it doesn't look all retro-80s. Makes the eyes *pop* and has a lot of staying power! Definitely will buy again.

Lip Treatments -Burt's Bees - Lifeguard's Choice Weatherproofing Lip Balm
rated 2 of 5
amhirst 6/24/2005 5:39:00 PM

Icky. This felt nice on (refreshingly cool like the regular Burt's Bee's lip balm) and I was happy with it until I looked in the mirror and realized that my lips and the area around them were all white from it!

Treatments -Redken - Extreme Anti Snap [REFORMULATED]
rated 2 of 5

I used the Extreme Anti Snap - so I'm not sure if this is the same or different than regular Anti Snap. In any case, I did not like this product at all. It made my hair feel strawlike rather than smooth or silky and it seemed much less manageable. I had high hopes since it got good MUA reviews. On the plus side, it does smell really nice. However, I will stick with my Aveda Light Elements Smoothing Fluid as a pre-blowdry hair protector/treatment for now.

Fragrances -Laura Mercier - Eau de Lune
rated 3 of 5
amhirst 6/22/2005 11:51:00 PM

A very nice but very light white floral scent. Not harsh, tends toward a sweetness. Really like it, but am a little torn because I feel like it is a bit boring and smells similar to a lot of other (perhaps cheaper) perfumes out on the market. Doesn't seem to have a lot of staying power. Like many of the other reviewers, I also hate the cap! It's heavy and useless!

Blush -Laura Mercier - Cheek Colour in Crushed Hazelnut [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
amhirst 6/22/2005 11:45:00 PM

Really like this blush - bought based on MUA review. I have fair skin (with slightly reddish undertone), and it seems to look very natural on me. It does look really boring in the container, but once applied looks really nice and natural. Definitely not for someone looking for a dramatic look, but gives a good, healthy glow. Think it would work best on light skin.

Shampoo -Hamadi - Lemon Mint Hair Wash
rated 1 of 5
amhirst 6/22/2005 11:35:00 PM

Do not like this product. It coats my hair rather than cleaning it. After I used it, my hair felt weird and stiff - even after rinsing really well and conditioning. The feeling lasted even after I washed my hair again (with another shampoo). I found this to be very low-quality for the extremely high price. Also, smells really funky to me.
