Eyeliner -Revlon - Colorstay Eyeliner

Love this eyeliner. It's great for the lower lid and does not melt or smear. Lasts all day. Love the fact that I don't need to sharpen. A little hard for the upper lid, but if it was softer I don't think it would last as long as it does.

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Matte Eyeshadow in Illegal
rated 3 of 5
WendyW 3/7/2009 5:32:00 AM

Just not the right color for me. Illegal is a matte mauve color. I just can't wear purple eyeshadow--makes my ruddy eyelids and eyes look worse. I look like I've had an allergic reaction or bruised. If you can wear mauves, this is a good color. However, use a brush for a blendable application.

Lipstick -Sally Hansen - Sculpt and Shape
rated 4 of 5

Bought this on a whim while in Ulta. Glad I did. Love it. Not too slick or shiney and not too drying either. I bought Boroque. It's more nudey peachy sunny on my lips than it looks in the tube. I'm not sure how they do it, but my lips do looked more defined and curvy. The tube is not see-through but is classy looking. A little difficult to get used to the pointy shape, but I managed.

Eyeliner -L'Oreal - HiP Color Truth Cream Eyeliner
rated 4 of 5
WendyW 2/14/2009 9:00:00 AM

Thanks to the MUA gals, I gave this try. I was having problems with my eyeliner either smearing, ending up on my upper lids at the end of the day, not lasting, flaking, etc. I was really like Urban Decay's eyeliner, but if my eyes watered at all, the liner ran. The L'oreal HiP cream eyeliner is great. I wish I didn't need a separate brush to apply, but that's the trade-off for good color, application, and staying power. Actually the bursh that comes witht this isn't so bad, specially if you're trying to get in between lashes with color. I still use my professional eyeliner brush though. The black is not too harsh and if you want to apply powder over the top, it stays put and softens the look. It lasted all day in the wind, cold, watery eyes, oily lids, etc. This is definitely a keeper. It's about $11, but you can get it at any Walgreens, Target, etc. EDIT: There is some transfer to my upper lids with this liner, now that the weather is getting warmer. Took off one lippie.

Eye Shadow -Bourjois - Stretch shadow (ombre stretch)
rated 5 of 5

Love these eyeshadows. I don't use the enclosed brush (too small). I use sponge tip applicator for all over color and my own m.u. brush for contouring. Yes, the colors can be intense, but I use those for contouring, liner, or corners. The rose color (can't remember the name) is a wonderful color as a wash, as a base, or highlighter. Not too frosty, but not too matte. Edit: Love the eyeshadow, but if you have sensitive eyes, the nylon may irritate.

Eye Shadow -Bourjois - Ombre Stretch Eyeshadow - Brun Nylon
rated 4 of 5

I love these eyeshadows. Only took off one lippie because this particular color is just a little too shimmery frosty for me. It goes on a lot more silver than it appears in the packaging. It looks more brown in the package and goes on a silvery gray taupe on the lid.

Mascara -Maybelline - Full 'N Soft Mascara
rated 3 of 5
WendyW 2/7/2009 6:06:00 AM

This is an okay mascara, but I'm wondering if it's Great Lash with a different brush. The reason, it smears quite easily. If you eyes tear at all, be careful, you will have mascara running. As other reviews have mentioned, this Full n Soft gives thickness, but no length. I'm still loving my Max Factor 2000 Calorie or Lash Couture.

Lip Treatments -Burt's Bees - Beeswax Lip Balm

This a very hard balm, especially when you first start using it. Very dry, hard, and rough. I like Blistex (in a tube) and Chapstick much better.

Deodorants -Secret - Platinum Deodorant
rated 1 of 5
WendyW 1/24/2009 12:20:00 PM

Secret bleaches out my underarm areas of my shirts, especially if they're cotton. The darker the shirt, the more obvious. I found out that the active ingredient in Secret Aluminium zirconium tetrachlorohydrex gly bleaches out clothes and also causes staining. Something to do with the chemical reaction between the aluminum salts and acidity of sweat. I've thrown all my Secret deodorants out (plus unfortunately some pretty nice shirts). I'm on the search for something that won't ruin my clothes.

Moisturizers -Nivea - Creme
rated 5 of 5

This is Holy Grail material. I was getting bumps after shaving. My legs were so itchy too. I tried a lot of lotions and creams, but Nivea cream in a jar did the trick for me. It doesn't sting when applying. It acts as a great barrier and moisturizer. Love the jar since it travels well--no worries about it leaking out into your purse or luggage. Since it worked so well on my legs, I've been using a small amount on my face in the am and pm. It's really helping my skin during these frigid winter months. Inexpensive and a light fragrance. Edit: Also great for the neck, especially if you are prone to skin tags or irritation due to turtle necks.

Lotions/ Creams -Nivea - Nivea Creme
rated 5 of 5
WendyW 12/14/2008 11:35:00 AM

I liked jar of creams because they travel well and I don't worry about leaks. I would have never purchased Nivea Creme if it wasn't for this board. I was finding that my legs were becoming more dry. At night they would itch after I shaved my legs and nothing but hydrocortisone cream would help. Now I use Nivea creme in the blue jar and my legs aren't breaking out in bumps and itchy. Love the consistency. It thick and white, but spread nicely. You can tell it's acting as a moisture barrier as well as moisturiziing. Not greasy. Smells clean but doesn't conflict with my fragrances. Edit: Starting to use on my face, and loving it still.

Lipstick -Revlon - Shiny Sheers
rated 2 of 5

Wears off way too quickly even if you don't eat or drink. I have lip balms and Chapstick that wears longer than this product. Would not buy again.

Lips -Revlon - Shiny Sheers - Sheer Afterglow 810
rated 2 of 5
WendyW 12/6/2008 7:17:00 AM

I have lip balm and Chapstick that lasts longer than this product. Put it on and within an hour it's gone. I don't want something I need to reapply every hour. Even if you don't eat, drink, etc., it will still wear off.

Treatments -Elizabeth Arden - Eight Hour Cream
rated 1 of 5
WendyW 11/30/2008 11:39:00 AM

If you want to save a ton of money, then run out to the drugstore and purchase A & D Diaper Ointment. This is what Eight Hour Cream is. Smells the same and the ingredients are nearly identical. The A&D ointment comes in a jar or a tube, and is only about 5 bucks. I use the A & D ointment on my face at night (very greasy--feels like Aquaphor), lips, cuticles, heels, and it works wonderfully. Vitamin A & D are good for the skin and the product is a great protectant. Contains 53.4% petrolatum; 15.5% lanolin; cod liver oil (contains vitamin A & D). Great for cuts and sores too. It is very soothing. Miracle solution for cracked fingertips. Try it.

Lipstick -Revlon - Colorstay Soft & Smooth in Creamy Coral
rated 5 of 5
WendyW 10/18/2008 9:13:00 PM

Bought two tubes. Was looking for a coral that wasn't too bright, too orange, or too brown. I think I found it! It brightens up my face without looking clownish. The staying power is good without drying out my lips. Is not too matte, but does not have a frosting to it. Love the narrow see-through tube so I can see what color it is quickly. I feel fresh and not over done with this lipstick; however, it shows up. So many peaches or nude lipsticks just aren't worth it if they don't show up. I have light reddish brown hair, gray/green eyes, and fair skin. Add a little Skin Food moisturizer to the lipcolor on the back of your hand. Then apply to your cheeks. Makes a great cream blush.
