Blush -MAC - Dollymix
rated 4 of 5
Spanola28 6/8/2004 1:52:00 AM

I didn't think I would be able to wear this color as it just looked way too bright for my olive complexion. But I underestimated the Sheertones. Dollymix, which is bright Barbie Corvette pink in the pan, goes on v. sheer. Sheer enough to see my skin underneath. Still, as sheer as it is, it's still bright pink blush so you might need to wear more muted colors on your lips and eyes. Looked v. nice in the winter, for the rosy-cheeked look. The shimmer is more subtle than the Frost blushes; you can only notice it in direct sunlight. I doubt I will ever use this up since I don't do bright pink cheeks that often but if I ever do I would buy again.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Deep Truth
rated 5 of 5
Spanola28 6/8/2004 1:46:00 AM

I'm normally not a fan of the Frost e/s as they tend to go on too unevenly for me but I bit the bullet for Deep Truth. A gorgeous deep ocean blue with cornflower blue frost. Not as frosty as, say, Swish, but still has a tendency to go on unevenly if I don't apply a base. Looks great all over the lid for a smoky look or the crease w/ a lighter blue on the lid (I like Fade). HG for me, I thought I couldn't wear blue until I found Deep Truth. ;>)

Eyeliner -MAC - Eye Kohl-Hyacinth
rated 5 of 5
Spanola28 6/8/2004 1:42:00 AM

I am a fan of all the Eye Kohls. They may not be long-wearing and smudge like crazy, but the smooth texture of the pencil decides it for me. Hyacinth is a "morning-glorious blue". Kind of a slightly less teal version of a peacock feather. Looks v. nice on the inner rim. Really makes my brown eyes look velvety. Has a tendency to smudge so this isn't for everybody. Check out the Powerpoints. Both highly recommended.

Lip Gloss -MAC - Lustreglass - Wonderstruck
rated 4 of 5
Spanola28 6/8/2004 1:38:00 AM

A good lipgloss but I doubt i would buy again. Wonderstruck is a sheer, v. shimmery pinky-coral color w/ loads of gold shimmer. Doesn't really reach to frost level but still noticeable. Alone, it looks like a shimmery clear gloss with a hint of pink. It can be used on top of other colors to either add pinkish tones or warm up a color that is too cool. The texture of these Lustreglasses are lighter and thinner than the lipglasses. More translucent, not as tacky and not as longwearing. Still they do feel nice and light on the lips. The brush applicator makes it more precise. A nice gloss, but neither the color nor the formulation warrants repurchase.

Conditioner -Back to Basics - Coconut Mango Moisture Quenching Conditioner
rated 4 of 5
Spanola28 6/8/2004 1:32:00 AM

Hmm, this did wonders for me (thick, straight, medium length hair). My hair is dry and brittle from dyeing so I am always looking for conditioners that will weigh it down and keep it from frizzing without giving it a coated, sticky feel. This is it! This retails for about $10 USD at my local Ulta. The scent is great: the BF loves it and commented how much softer my hair felt. This is a super-rich conditioner so I could see how you might need to alternate this with a lighter one. Not recommended for fine or limp hair.

Lotions/ Creams -Bath and Body Works - Passionberry & Coconut body lotion
rated 2 of 5
Spanola28 5/23/2004 3:00:00 PM

Eh, I still prefer the Coconut Lime scent to this. I jumped on the bandwagon after hearing this was a limited edition. I love anything coconut so I thought this would be right up my alley. unfortunately, this smells more like strawberries than anything else. V. artificial and overly-sweet. The scent is strong and lingers so I can't wear any perfume w/ this. On the upside, i love the retro graphic on the bottle. The cucumber and coconut notes are hard to detect. This is a nice scent for the summer but the Coconut Lime scent is a more subtle, less overwhelming alternative.

Lip Gloss -MAC - Pink Lemonade
rated 5 of 5
Spanola28 5/18/2004 12:09:00 AM

Again another color I wouldn't have looked twice at had it not been for MUA. Pink Lemonade is somewhere between the color of a flamingo and the flesh inside of a papaya. Does not go on as opaque as it seems. V. sheer, lends a sheer pinky melon tint to the lips. This and Love Nectar will be my go-to lipglosses this summer. Has a subtle amount of shimmer but is not noticeable once on. I could see this working on complexions that can pull of bright colors. Looks great with a tan!

Blush -Cover Girl - Cheekers Blush in Pretty Peach
rated 4 of 5
Spanola28 4/9/2004 4:21:00 PM

At first I discarded this, thinking that it was way too sheer for me. But after using a different brush: Ta-da! The perfect peachy glow. This is a nice, not-too-pigemented pure peach blush that goes on v. nicely with any other brush apart from the one included. There is a faint Noxema scent but I can live w/ it. V. nice for a pretty, everyday spring/summer look. Would definitely repurchase.

Lip Gloss -Almay - Whipped Gloss - Wine Glass
rated 3 of 5
Spanola28 4/7/2004 3:10:00 AM

Mmm, this one's only so-so. I was looking for a wine-colored gloss but this doesn't go on as deep or as pigmented as it looks. In the tube it looks like a deep shimmering wine color but goes on a sheer warm red. Also tends to apply unevenly and get blotchy as it wears off. Still works nice as a red color but lipstick goes on more evenly and wears better. This one's take it or leave it. More of a warm red than cool.

Lip Gloss -Almay - Whipped Gloss - Candied Cider
rated 4 of 5
Spanola28 4/7/2004 3:06:00 AM

A good neutral YLBB color (browned mauve-pink). I really don't have any complaint against these glosses except that the darker colors tend to go on unevenly. Still Candied Cider doesn't have that problem, goes on even and feels more like a balm than a sticky gloss. More pigmented than the new Revlon glosses. This color works w/ almost any other. I would buy this again - the price is definitely right. Check out Shimmering Roses too.

Lip Liners -Clinique - Sheer Shaper for Lips - Sheer Rose
rated 5 of 5
Spanola28 4/7/2004 3:01:00 AM

Let me admit one thing: I am a lip liner virgin. I had played around w/ it before but it always seemed to look too "done", which I hate. However, I never thought they would make lip liners like this! Go on super smooth and sheer, these are great under lipstick/gloss and also by themselves. The line fades into your lipcolor so it doesn't even look like you have liner on at all. Just gently shape the lips. Sheer Rose is a pretty nude rose color, probably would work w/ pink, plum, brown and possibly red lip colors. I couldn't imagine these not working for anybody unless you like that hard line most liners give. Rave from me, just might be HG!

Lip Gloss -Almay - Pink Cloud
rated 2 of 5
Spanola28 4/7/2004 2:53:00 AM

Hmm, I could only see this working for v. pale, cool complexions. On my golden coloring this only looked like a milky bluish pink. V. sheer w/ hardly any pigment. Went on smoothly tho so don't write off the other colors!

Lip Gloss -Almay - Whipped Gloss -Shimmering Roses
rated 5 of 5
Spanola28 4/7/2004 2:50:00 AM

I agree that this is definitely one of the gems of the new glosses. Shimmering Roses is a beautiful mauvey rose shade - warmer and more pigmented than Candied Cider, my other fave. These go on smooth and moist albeit a bit unevenly. The brush is small but still effective for a drugstore gloss. The minty taste gets on my nerves but it disappears after a minute. I love the shimmer this has - subtle but multi-faceted and unique. This might not work for cooler complexions. I would buy this again altho it is exclusive to Target (supposedly).

Blush -MAC - Sheertone Shimmer blush in Peachykeen
rated 4 of 5
Spanola28 4/3/2004 3:37:00 PM

Okay when these came out I was first in line to buy them. Peachykeen is described as "a very baby peach" by MAC. It isn't as soft as the name suggests. It is a medium-toned slightly pinky peach color laced w/ golden shimmer. The shimmer here is SUPER SUBTLE, as in you can only see it in direct lighting - which is perfect for me since I think overly shimmery blush looks greasy. Nice if you want a shimmery blush that's not frosty. This is more pigmented than the name suggests. I had to tap my blush brush a few times to avoid looking orange. The blush is usual MAC quality; smooth, even, see-thru color. Would buy this again.

Lipstick -Clinique - Colour Surge Bare Brilliance - Blushing Coral
rated 5 of 5
Spanola28 4/3/2004 3:24:00 PM

Wow, I love this color! A sheer pinky-coral w/ gold microshimmer. The shade in itself is not too unique but I think the shimmer is perfect. V. Subtle and not at all frosty enough to dry out your lips(I don't do frosty lips). V. moisturizing. Just a sexy hint of glimmer when your lips hit the light. As the names suggests these do go on v. sheer; you can see the texture of your lips underneath. This more of a warm-hued lippie but I could see it working for most skin tones. Rave from me, hoping to collect more!
