Pressed Powders -MAC - Mineralize Skinfinish Natural - Light
RosePeacock 1/14/2012 10:29:00 AM
I recently received this powder as a gift from my fiance and I really love it. The quality is excellent and 'Light' works well with my super pale skin tone. It's equally awesome as a setting powder or applied on its own. I can see myself buying this product again. I can definitely see why it's got a lot of love on here.

Lip Gloss -Superdrug - MUA Lip Gloss Tube in Shade 4
RosePeacock 1/14/2012 10:19:00 AM
This is a great lip gloss for £1. Very natural and subtle. Perfect for a 'no-makeup' makeup look. Looks quite orangey in the tube, but it shows up as a nude with the tiniest hint of shimmer. I'm glad I bought it - was a pretty little pick-me-up!

Eyeliner -Superdrug - MUA Intense Coloured Eyeliners - Lovely Lilac
RosePeacock 1/14/2012 9:59:00 AM
You can buy MUA products from Superdrug or you can get them from their online shop. For £1 this is a great liner. This shade really compliments my hazel/green eyes and makes them stand out. It's not the most highly pigmented shade, but it's pretty decent nonetheless. I like that it comes with a sharpener too. I've also recently used it as a base because you can blend it out for a soft, shimmery effect. I used a grey shadow on top and it looked really pretty. I like these eyeliners so I think I'd buy it again.

Palettes -E.L.F. - 32 Piece Eyeshadow Collection
RosePeacock 1/14/2012 2:27:00 AM
I got the 'warm' version as a gift. I was a bit put out because I'm very cool toned. However there are still a few shadows that I can get away with. There's a taupe shade in particular that works really well for me and is fast becoming one of my favourite shadows ever. Of course, the quality is not the best but paired with a primer I think they come out pretty decent. I know I'll never use the majority of them, but the ones I am using, I enjoy a lot.

Lip Treatments -Bonne Bell - Smackers - Vanilla Coke Lipbalm
RosePeacock 1/14/2012 2:16:00 AM
I bought mine for £1 at Primark in the UK. I can't detect vanilla at all. It smells exactly like Haribo fizzy cola bottles. Despite the absence of vanilla, I still think it's a great lipbalm. It's surprisingly moisturising, and I'm starting to reach for it whenever I feel like I need something more heavy duty. It doesn't just disappear within a matter of seconds, so my lips stay hydrated for longer. The texture is very creamy, and not at all thin and oily like some lipbalms I've encountered in the same price range. I usually stick to Nivea or Burt's Bee's but this little cheap thrill is giving them a run for their money.

Treatments -E.L.F. - Shine Eraser Blotting Sheets
RosePeacock 1/14/2012 2:01:00 AM
There's not much to say about these, except that they work. They're easy to pop into your bag and you get quite a lot in the package. However, I do prefer a larger blotting sheet. I'd buy these again if I couldn't get hold of the MUJI ones I like.

Polishes -Boots - No7 Stay Perfect Nail Colour - Cheeky Chops
RosePeacock 1/13/2012 4:25:00 PM
I bought this with a No7 voucher (I would never buy these full price, £7 is just too steep!) after seeing it swatched on a blog. Firstly I'm disappointed with the colour as the swatches led me to believe that it would be more pink. I find it rather orange and while nice enough isn't quite what I was looking for. The brush also makes applying the polish neatly a bit difficult and some nails have ended up looking rather messy. Also it took 3 coats to get decent coverage, even then its not fully opaque. It doesn't seem to layer well. I may give the range a second go. I have my eye on 'Me Me Me!' and 'Jammy', so I may try those with my next vouchers, but overall I'm not impressed with the quality of this particular shade.

Lotions/ Creams -Boots - Extracts Brazil Nut Body Butter
RosePeacock 1/13/2012 4:09:00 PM
This smells divine! Even though it's Brazil Nut, it smells a lot like cake batter. Sometimes I even get a whiff of banana... like Müller Yogurt. Odd, yes, but that's the note I get! It spreads on beautifully and is easily absorbed. My skin is left lovely and soft. So glad that my fiance bought me this, it's fantastic. As you can probably guess, I'd buy this again.

Eye Primer -E.L.F. - Eyelid Primer
RosePeacock 1/13/2012 8:44:00 AM
GET THIS! For such a cheap product it's really impressive. And even if it doesn't work out for you personally, then at least you didn't spend bucket-loads. My eye makeup stays looking fresh, even when my face makeup is all shiny and gross after running around at work all day. I have to get my makeup done for 6am, and when I come to wipe it off at around 7pm it's kind of a shame to ruin it! I would definitely buy this product again, I'd be silly not to.

Lip Gloss -Boots - Natural Collection - Juicy Lips in Sherbet Fizz
RosePeacock 1/13/2012 8:02:00 AM
I love this lipgloss. It looks and feels much more expensive than it really is. I bought it from Boot's for £1.99, and I was expecting a sheer coverage, but no, it's actually quite opaque like a liquid lipstick. Totally not what I expected from such an unassuming brand. UK women will know that the Natural Collection stand is just 'there' and easy to pass by. Let's face it, it hardly screams 'look at me!', not with its simple, no-frills packaging. Anyway, I tried it on back at home, and was really impressed! Such a great DS find. On me (NW10/15 for ref) it looks extremely comparable to MAC Cremesheen in Speed Dial. So if your budget doesn't stretch that far, but you want the same look (and live in the UK) then you may like to try this Sherbet Fizz 'Juicy Lips'.

Cleansers -Neutrogena - Visibly Clear 2-in-1 wash mask
RosePeacock 1/11/2012 11:01:00 AM
I'm really enjoying this product. I've just finished up my first tube and now I'm on my second. I've never done that before with any cleanser, so that tells you just how much I like it. By finishing the tube I've given it a fair trial and for me, it really works. I have oily skin that's also sensitive but this stuff hasn't irritated it at all. I found the texture to be rather odd at first. It has the same consistency as toothpaste, but I soon got used to it. It doesn't lather which I think plays a big part in the lack of irritation on my fussy skin. You can tell there's menthol in the ingredients due to the slightly cooling sensation it gives when applied, but I don't seem to have issues with that. It's nice and refreshing in the morning and likewise at night. As a mask I've found it to be very effective. It helps bring impurities to the surface, while also helping to dry out any existing spots. I can honestly say I've seen a decrease in the amount of spots and blemishes I've had since using this product. I'm giving it a '2' for the price as it's around the £3 - £4 mark depending on where you go. As for the packaging I'm giving it a '5' as I like the tube with the flip top - nothing fancy, but does the job perfectly. I'd definitely buy this product again. I'm even thinking about chucking out all my old cleansers that had something wrong with them and just sticking to this. Until my skin requirements change, I'll keep on using it.

Lotions/ Creams -Unlisted Brand - E45 Itch Relief Cream
RosePeacock 12/14/2011 5:25:00 AM
For the past two winters my hands have broken out in a kind of rash. It goes away once the weather gets warmer. The backs of my hands were getting very itchy and irritated so I bought this product to see if it would help matters. I tend to put it on before bed because the formula is rather oily and it needs the time to sink in. I've found that it really does lessen the itchiness and soothes the skin. I also have a suspicion that the soap at work is aggravating my hands too, so I may pop it into my bag in case it gets worse. I can't really avoid the soap because I work at a university so washing my hands regularly is a must! Overall, it does what it says on the tin, as it were. I'd probably buy this product again.

Treatments -Burt's Bees - Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream
RosePeacock 12/14/2011 4:27:00 AM
This stuff is saving my cuticles! I've always neglected my nails, but recently I've started to whip them into shape. I suppose because I feel that if a woman has nicely kept nails, then it tells everyone that she cares about her appearance - and I don't want people to think I'm a scruffbag! So with that in mind, I've been rubbing this into my cuticles and nail walls every night before bed. With the extreme cold weather we've been having it can be a little tough to spread and it takes a while to become workable, but it still gets the job done. I'm thinking of giving it a quick blast with the hairdryer to see if that speeds up the process. Anyhoo, my once raggedy and tough cuticles are becoming much softer and neater looking. I still have some ways to go before I'll be totally happy, but I'm loving the results so far! I also just enjoying the ritual of applying before I go to sleep, as it helps me to unwind. The only bad thing I have to say is that I'm not too keen on the tin - The lid gets really hard to remove after a while, and it's impossible to open when your fingers are all greasy with the product. However, I'll deal with this seeing as it works so well. I'll definitely be buying this again.

Treatments (Eye) -Superdrug - Superdrug Vitamin E SPF15 Radiance Eye Cream
RosePeacock 12/13/2011 4:51:00 AM
I really wanted to like this product, but it's just not doing it for me. The price (£1.99) is excellent, as is the packaging, and I like that it has SPF 15 but that's as far as my praise goes. My eye area actually felt drier after I applied this. I wanted a moisture boost, so that was rather disappointing. Also, it was very sparkly! I suppose that's the 'radiance' part. It was very noticeable in day light, and I'm not keen on wearing any sort of glitter during the day. I wouldn't purchase this product again.

Polishes -Boots - No7 Stay Perfect Nail Colour
RosePeacock 12/13/2011 4:36:00 AM
I only ever buy these when I've got a £5 No7 voucher. I like the shades and the formula but ugh, I just can't stand the brush. It may well just be my lack of technique, but it's chunky, wide, and an overall pain in the rear to work with. I always feel like I'm laying on too much polish - which could easily end up chipping/peeling away. I prefer skinnier brushes that allow me have a more precise application, where I can build up thin coats. Having said that, I'll probably end up buying them again, but only because the colours are so great.
