Lips -Burt's Bees - Lip Shimmer in Fig
rated 3 of 5
Pink_Starlette 8/28/2008 1:31:00 PM

Since this is a lip shimmer, it has the nice minty scent/flavor that most of Burt's Bees lip stuff has. It's moisturizing just like the other lipshimmers and is packaged in a slim twist-up tube. I mainly just wanted to say how nice this Fig shade is. It very wearable compared to many of the other frosty shades in the Lip shimmer line up. This has minimal to almost no shimmer from what I can tell, but it's still sheer. The color is a really nice plum with a hint of brown and is fairly neutral. This will be a flattering color for a lot of people I think. It looks reallynice one it's own but I also like to mix this shade with the watermelon shade to make a nice natural mauve color. Edit: I've decided to bring the rating down to 3 lippies because I just can't make this color work for me as well as I like. Its a tad too warm for me on it's own. I really only like it when mixed with watermelon... and it's not very convenient to have to carry around two different colors. I still love the formula though :)

Deodorants -Alba Botanica - Clear Enzyme Deodorant Stick
rated 4 of 5
Pink_Starlette 8/28/2008 1:24:00 PM

Well, I guess this has a lot of bad reviews, but I find that I really like this deoderant. I should first add that I am not a profuse sweater, or naturally stinky. It takes a lot for me to start stinking. That being said, I really like this stuff and it serves my purposes just fine. I bought the ALOE unscented version. However, it does have a scent to it. It a very light lemongrass-verbena smell that I find refreshing and not overly girly or masculine. It's oretty unisex, and the scent doesn't chage on my like some reviewers complained about. Oh, I shoudl also as that it's a nice natural smell.... nothing like Lemon scented pledge. Fear not. Somer eviewrs have complained about the stickiness after appliying it. I must be a weirdo or something, because I actually like the smooth soilid gel-type texture and I don't find it sticky. My only gripe is that this is a little pricey. I think I paid close to $6 for this. Next time, I would like to try the lavender scented one.

Tinted Moisturizer -Kiss My Face - Tinted Moisturizer [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
Pink_Starlette 8/28/2008 1:12:00 PM

I really like this stuff :) After getting tired of the powdery, oily mineral make up I was wearing I wanted to try something new. I bought this tint for around $10 and I bought the shade Beach. I have fair to light skin, but not porcelain, and I think this shade is perfect for me. The texture is pretty thin, but spreads easily and covers better than the other tinted moistruizers I've tried be for (Covergirl, and Mark.) I think the coverage is like a light foundation. I also love the fact that it had a mineral sun screen (spf8) in it. For me, it's SO good that I will continue to buy again and again.

Scrubs -Burt's Bees - Peach and Willowbark Deep Pore Scrub
rated 3 of 5
Pink_Starlette 8/24/2008 10:38:00 PM

Well, using this scrub is the official begining of me replacing my personal care products with more natural healthy ones. And after one use with this scrub I am pleased :) It's got a great creamy texture with natural salicylic acid (willowbark exctract) in it for chemical exfoliation. It also has ground up apricot shells for manual exfoliation. It comes in a handy squeeze tube with a flip top cap, which I find convenient. The only complaint I have is the price. For me, I consider this to be bordering on the more expensive side. I paid $8 dollars for it and it's not a magnificently large tube. It rather mediocre in size. I used it tonight for the first time, and I plan to continue using it once or twice a week, as I did with my old scrub. I love the creamy texture, and the way my skin feels moisturized and not stripped afterwards. I concur with the other reviews that it does leave a lot of moisture (which some people consider a residue) on the skin. I personally like this. (My daily cleanser right now is Cetaphil so I am used to my skin not feeling tight or dry after I cleanse.) I alos agree that this has less scrubby granuales that certain other apricot scrubs out there. I also personaly like this. I have sensitive skin and a gentle scrub with this is a lot less irritating than with other scrubs. I think that the scent is worth mentioning too, since it's really pleasant. It's a very natural peachy-apricot scent that isn't too strong or overwhelming. It's a yummy smell to indulge in while using a scrub :) Edit: This is causing some break outs on myf ace. I think it's too heavy for me... even only for occasional use.

Primer/ Corrector -Avon - MagiX Face Perfector
rated 4 of 5
Pink_Starlette 8/7/2008 3:49:00 PM

Okay, well, I just got my full size in and this is the first time Iv'e tried it. I've never tried any other primers before so I have nothing else to compare it too. I decided to wear it on a bare face today to see what it's like and I'll tell you want I do notice. I do notice my skin looks smoother. I still see pores, but they don't look so much like craters, lol. It makes my skin really soft too, and has a nice matte finish. It's almost a velvety feel. Strangely, it has sort of a thick pastey texture, which I wasn't expecting. It warms up as you smooth it onto your face though, and blends into nothingness. The chemically scent is not really that pleasant but it fades quickly. So good so far! It has spf 20 in it! And the box yays it's oil-free and non-comodegenic. As long as I don't break out or have skin sensitivites to this, I'll keep using it just for the way it makes my skin feel soft and smooth, and provides spf. Box Description: Is it make up? No. It's Magix! Avon's patent-pending Optix Light-Diffusing Technology provides the "magic" in this colorless skin perfecting formula. This lightweight gel to powder keeps shine away for up to 10 hours while it visibly smoothes the look of pores and fine lines. It creates a translucent finish and leaves skin feeling ultra-soft. For all skin types. Dermatologist-tested. Oil-free. Non-comedogenic. Active Ingrediets: Octinoxate 7.5% , Octisalate 4.0% Inactive ingredients: Dimethicone, cyclopentasiloxane, cellulose, cyclomenthicone, cetearyl dimenthicone crosspolymer, alumina, acrylates/dimeth-icone copolymer, silica, nylon-12, HDI/trimethylol hexyllatone crosspolymer, C30-45 Alkyl methicone, C30-45 Olefin, PEG/PPG-20/23 dimethicone, lauryl PEG-9 polydimethylsiloxyethyl dimethicone, Caprylyl glycol, dimethicone crosspolymer, boron nitride, parfum/fragrance, tocopherol.

Eye Shadow -mark - I-Mark Custom Shadow - Fairy Dust
rated 4 of 5
Pink_Starlette 8/2/2008 1:58:00 PM

Fairy Dust is a nice peachy nude shade for eyes. It has a shimmery fnish but do not fear, there are no large glitter chunks. I think this would look good on a wide range of skin tones. Definitely worth the four bucks I paid for it.

Eyeliner -Rimmel - Soft Kohl Kajal Eye Pencil in Jet Black
rated 4 of 5
Pink_Starlette 7/28/2008 4:19:00 PM

First off, this is super inexpensive for the decent quality you are getting. I love the jet black color. It's really rich and pigmented. The pencil doesn't tug and smoothes on. It's smudgeable and can be worn smudged, or can be worn to give that classic crisp black eyeliner effect. This pencil requires sharpening, which I personaly like since I can control how thick the line goes on. Those self-sharpening pencils are just stubby and dull. Thier lines go on too thick for me. The only way in which I could see this improved would be to make it last longer... It does smudge, but that is, after all, because it's a kohl smudge type eye product.

Liquid -Physicians Formula - Mineral Wear Mineral Foundation
rated 4 of 5
Pink_Starlette 7/7/2008 12:49:00 AM

When I first bought this and used it I had the same reaction as most of the other reviewers. This stuff goes on so thik and mask-like. I threw it into my storage drawer in the bathrooma nd had forgotten about it. After using powderminerals for so long I was getting tired of the way they made me look opily and cakey so quickly. So I dug this out after remembering I still had it. I still can't use this stuff straight fromt he tube. It's stillv ery thick and masky but I have discovered a way that I do like to use it. I mix it with my moisturizer to make a nice light foundation. I get more coverage than a tinted moisturizer but much less than a traditional foundation. I mix two parts moisturizer and one part foundation. I slather that onto my face and blend well until all the streaks are gone. If I have a blemish that is still showing or a red area that needs more coverage I will use a tiny amount of foundation straight from the tube as a concealor. Then I put a very light layer of the Loose Minreal Wear Powder in Translucent Light over the top. I still get the glowy second skin look that I love, but with out the oil slick and cake-y-ness two hours later. By no means is my face completely matte though. As of right now this is working really well for me and giving me the exact look and wear-a-bility that I want. If I ran out I would repurchase.

Gels/Soaps -mark - Violet Berry Shower Wash
rated 4 of 5
Pink_Starlette 6/27/2008 12:39:00 AM

I would buy this agian just for the scent. It's a very light, slightly fruity floral. As a shower wash, I wish it lathered a little more. It seems like I have to use a lot on my bath poof in order to do my whole self. It doesn't dry me out though and that is a plus. Scented soft skin is good :)

Lotions/ Creams -mark - Self Sanctuary Violet Berry Body Butter
rated 5 of 5
Pink_Starlette 6/27/2008 12:36:00 AM

I love this stuff. It's super thick and creamy. It really moisturizes my hands and rough spots well. The scent is a very fresh, light, slightly fruity floral. It's uplifting, but not in-your-face sweet, and not too overly floral either. Very pretty and feminine. I highly recommend this stuff!

Fragrances -mark - Self sanctuary--Violet Berry
rated 4 of 5
Pink_Starlette 6/27/2008 12:31:00 AM

This is a really fresh ligh scent. Very pretty and feminine yet still yummy smelling at the same time. I would call it a slightly fruity floral. There is just enough of the fruitiness to make it sweet and flirty, but the main notes of it are still floral. The only way I could see it improved would be in scent strength and the lasting power. (This is the reason I layer it with the body butter.. really kicks up the scent and helps it last longer.)

Lip Gloss -mark - Glow baby glow luxe in Sugar
rated 5 of 5
Pink_Starlette 6/15/2008 10:54:00 PM

This shade and finish is my new favorote lipgloss of the moment. It's the shade I've been hoping to find for a long time because it enhances my natural lip color without looking too barbie pink or bright while still being cool toned. The color is a sheer mauvey-plum. It does have quite a lot of shimmer in it, but it's very fine so there are no large chunks of glitter that show up on your lips. The texture is light but stays on my lips for 1-2 hours. I adore it and will buy it over an over again :)

Treatments -Stridex - Benzoyl Peroxide - Power Pads
rated 5 of 5
Pink_Starlette 6/3/2008 8:33:00 PM

These have really made a difference in my skin. I had ben using a 10% bp cream on problem spots. Though it did help get rid of the spots, my skin would get irritated and start to dry out. (I was even using a moisturizer and was still having this problem.) These pads though are great. The % of bp is way lower and I can use it all over my face with out any dryness. These are definitely work a try imo. If they don't work, move on to something else, but there is nothign to lose. They are inexpensive, soothing/non-irritating, and dare I, say it even a bit moisturizing in a non-greasy way. The only thing I don't like is that they are individually packaged. It makes so much waste, though I do understand that it prevents them from drying out as they are being used up. Edit (9/3/08): I still love these. And to make less waste and make them more cost efficient. I cut them in half. I take one out of the wrapper, cut in half, use one half and put the other half back in the wrapper. I fold over the rim of the package twice and then secure with a paper clip until the next day when I use the second half. I know it seems like a lot of trouble, but I don't mind. I like the fact that I can get twice as many uses out of one box.

Lotions/ Creams -Bath and Body Works - Sea Island Cotton
rated 4 of 5
Pink_Starlette 5/26/2008 12:38:00 AM

My boyfriend helped me pick out some scents at B&BW. He chose the Brown Sugar & Fig, as well as this Sea Island Cotton. I actually really like this scent. I have super dry skin and this acutally sticks around for about 4 to 6 hours on me when I layer with the body spray. I get a nice salty-sweet mild floral from it. It's fresh, light, and clean but still interesting. Will definitely buy again, because I like this one.

Blush -Physicians Formula - Mineral Wear Talc-Free Blush Rosey Glow
rated 4 of 5
Pink_Starlette 5/24/2008 1:32:00 AM

This s a really pretty light mauvey rose color. Almost a light pinkish berry shade. Matte/pearl finish, no shimmer. It's prefect for my cool fair/light skin tone and doesn't change color once I have had it on for a while. Some mineral blushes tend to turn oranger or warmer after mixing with the skins oils but this one doesn't. I love it and will buy it again when I run out.
