Mascara -Tarte - Lights Camera Lashes

Really nice formula. Long wearing, didnt smudge, flake or transfer. My only negative is that I dont love the brush. Its a little too big and fat for me, but I liked the mascara enough that I would re-purchase.

Makeup Brushes -Ecotools - Bamboo Foundation Brush

I am so impressed with this foundation brush. It was very inexpensive (about $7 CND). I wash it after every application and it has stood up well and has never shed a single hair. For such an inexpensive brush it is excellent quality.

Concealers -BeneFit Cosmetics - Boi-ing

I mainly use concealer under my eyes and this one is just too drying, thick and cakey. It works well to cover an occasional blemish; its very full coverage and long wearing. But if you have drier skin, this wont work well under eyes. It settles into lines and gets drier looking as the day wears on. Depends on your skin type and what you want to use it for.

Mascara -Maybelline - Great Lash Mascara
rated 3 of 5

I've repurchased this a few times. I am also not sure why it gets such astoundingly bad reviews. I find its not clumpy, doesnt leave my lashes feeling hard and crunchy, and seperates them well. I especialy like the brush, which isnt too large and seems to help seperate lashes. My only issue is that its not as long wearing as some other non-waterproof mascaras (I really dont like waterproof). I can sometimes have some transfer under my eyes at the end of the day. Otherwise, for the price, its a pretty good mascara.

Mascara -Clinique - High Impact Mascara
rated 3 of 5

I have sensitive eyes, and Clinique is great. This mascara was not irritating at all. It also stayed put very well for a non-waterproof mascara (I really dont like waterproof mascaras). I never had a problem with flaking or racoon eyes. My complaint would be that I really didnt like the brush. Its quite large, and didnt really seperate my lashes as well as I would like.

Lip Liners -NYX - Slim Lip Pencil - 1000 Years #825
rated 4 of 5

Definitely a dupe for MAC Stone, which has just been discontinued. I have several MAC lipliners and several NYX lipliners, and there is not a big difference in quality. MAC has a lot of really great, unique colours. However, 1000 Years is a great dupe - a neutral stone grey, good for lining to give the illusion of fuller lips.

Lipstick -Revlon - porcelain pink
rated 4 of 5

I really love Revlon Super Lustrous lipsticks and have several. By far the best drugstore brand lipstick. I have sensitive skin and some lip products can irritate my lips, but not these. They are smooth, creamy, glossy, long-wearing and the colours are great. Porcelain Pink is a fantastic shade of pink. Sort of a cooler, mauvey pink.

Lipstick -Revlon - Super Lustrous Lipstick in Luminous Pink

I really love Revlon Super Lustrous lipsticks and have several. By far the best drugstore brand lipstick. I have sensitive skin and some lip products can irritate my lips, but not these. They are smooth, creamy, glossy, long-wearing and the colours are great. I have fairly pale lips so luminous pink is like a nude lip for me. It gives my lips a nice pinky glow. Looks great paired with darker eye makeup.

Lipstick -Revlon - Matte lipstick in Mauve It Over
rated 1 of 5

I am a big Revlon lipstick fan, but the matte lipstick is a miss for me. I tried it in 003 "Mauve it Over"' which is a great colour, but man, they are not kidding when they say matte! This lipstick is way too drying for me! It sucked all moisture out of my lips and left them chapped, flakey, and irritated. Not for me!

Powder -Bare Escentuals - Bare Minerals #1
rated 5 of 5
NerdyLibrarianGirl 1/13/2012 9:03:00 PM

This was my HG foundation for years. It looks so natural and the lightest shade in "fair" matched my super fair skin perfectly (which is difficult). I would get comments all the time on my "complection", and that I had such nice skin. No one noticed I was even wearing foundation. Coverage is amazing, especially combined with such a natural look, and at the end of the day it looked exactly like it did when I put it on in the morning. I have very sensitive skin and I never had any problems at all with this. However, since I got in to my 30s my skin has gotten much drier, and this foundation no longer works for me. My skin is just too dry to buff with powder. If you have dry skin, this probably wont work for you, but for all other skin types, I highly recommend it.

Blush -Almay - Smart Shade Blush
rated 2 of 5
NerdyLibrarianGirl 1/13/2012 8:49:00 PM

I got this after my Mom bought one in the shade "berry". It was gorgeous on her, and I always prefer a liquid or cream blush as I think it looks more natural (I am a huge Benetint fan). I tried it in "pink". On my fair skin you can barely see it. If it doesnt show up on me, I cant imagine what skin tone its intended for. At the end of the day it was blotchy and patchy. It doesnt seem to wear well. I'm sticking to my benetint!

Eyeliner -MAC - Powersurge Eye Kohl
rated 5 of 5
NerdyLibrarianGirl 1/13/2012 8:39:00 PM

Love this eyeliner! Being very fair, black eyeliner is just too harsh for daytime (and even nightime really). This medium, golden brown eyeliner is flattering and natural looking. It brings out my eyes, but you notice my eyes not my eyeliner. I love it on the waterline and under my eye. It stays put all day. I bought one for my Mom too, as black is also harsh on maturer women as well. This is a must have for anyone with lighter skin tones.

Liquid -Almay - Nearly Naked LIQUID foundation
rated 3 of 5
NerdyLibrarianGirl 1/13/2012 8:32:00 PM

I have dry skin and gave up powder foundation and am searching for a good, natural looking, liquid foundation. This one isnt bad. It definitely isnt drying; my skin feels very soft after wearing it. I have sensitive, combination skin and after a couple of weeks there is no irritation or breakouts, which is great (Definitely not recommended for oily skin though). The problem is it is a little difficult to apply. Apply sparingly! Use too much and it looks cakey, streaky, and obvious and can sit unnaturally on the skin. I have to use a foundation brush, as a sponge or fingers didnt work at all with this foundation. If you use a small amount and carefuly work in with a brush you can get a nice result. It is sheer coverage and not buildable. Also, the lightest shade is not really a colour match for my very fair skin and it tends to oxidize, going darker throughout the day. I would probably not repurchase, and instead will continue my search.
