Loose Powders -MAC - Select Sheer Loose Powder

I use this just about everyday. I have it in NC40 and I also have one in NC45. Since I mix my foundations to get the right shade I'll use either one depending on how dark/light my foundation looks that day. Does that make sense? Meaning if my foundation looks a lil dark, I'll use NC40 and if it's looking too pinky/light, I'll use NC45. I also use the darker one a lot more in the summer months. This looks powder creates a flawless finish over Revlon's CS/PR...an airbrushed look. This keeps my T-zone matte but not dry (I have desert dry skin), but not so matte because I like the dewy look and I can still achieve it with this. It sets foundation wonderfully. Only thing is the packaging looks great but way too much product comes out of the little holes so if you travel with this you have to be really careful because a lot can spill out. And these literally last forever but I think mine last a lot longer since I alternate between the two colors. I wore it alone once and it was OK but I much rather wear it over foundation. I used to buff it in with a Kabuki but I like the results much better when I use it with my E.LF. Studio Complexion Brush.

Blush -E.L.F. - All Over Color Stick in Golden Peach
rated 4 of 5
MzSiStarr 2/18/2011 2:05:00 PM

I use this primarily to highlight the bridge of my nose. Sometimes I stipple it onto the top of my cheek-bones as well. It's really pretty and makes me look like I'm glowing. I get a lot of compliments when I wear this...& hello?! you can't beat that price with a stick. This hasn't caused any breakouts either and believe me it lasts forever. I've had mine for over a year and I haven't even put a dent in it. The texture can be a little dry so I like to warm some up with my fingers and stipple and blend. No brush needed in applying this product. I have 3 other 'All Over Color Sticks' and I'm pleased with all of them. Would 100% repurchase these little guys.

Eye Shadow -MAC - MAC Brun Eyeshadow

I use this to fill in my brows and it works wonderfully. It's very matte on me, I'm not sure why this is a Satin. I would absolutely buy this is again but I don't think I'm going to run out since I only use it for my brows.

Palettes -Elizabeth Arden - Color Intrigue Eyes (5 e/s palette)
rated 5 of 5

I got this limited addition palette as a gift and I really like it. The colors are pretty and well pigmented but almost all are shimmery. If you're looking for a matte palette, this is not the one for you. I use the lightest colors as a highlight to my inner corners almost every day. Also 'Jewel' is a gorgeous color, one of my favorites. Another great thing is that the palette has a mirror in it. Love that.

Lipstick -MAC - Lustre in Fresh Brew
rated 3 of 5
MzSiStarr 2/18/2011 1:46:00 PM

This another Lippie that I find myself having to manipulate quite a bit to make it look wearable. The gray cast is really noticeable on me (NC44) so I always have to line and fill my lips in with a nude liner first, apply the lipstick and use a peachy-pink gloss afterward to warm the color up. This is not something I can throw on and go which can be annoying for someone like me who doesn't really like to carry a whole bunch of products in my bag. I like the texture better than the actual color. It glides on effortlessly and doesn't dry me out, even with no lip balm underneath so that's a plus. As a WOC I thought this would be the perfect nude but I found this mediocre. The packaging is adorable though! I'm pretty sure I wouldn't purchase this again but I'm not going to throw it out simply because I love how it looks on my vanity.

Lip Gloss -NYX - Mega Shine in Baby Rose
rated 5 of 5
MzSiStarr 2/18/2011 1:34:00 PM

Recently this has been my go-to gloss, as I've been using it over everything! First of all the price and packaging is phenomenal...you get so much product for a little over $5! I'm NC44 and I have very pigmented purple-ish lips and honestly I can wear this alone and love it. I prefer to wear it over a nude/pink lipstick, like Revlon's Soft Nude but seriously it looks good by itself. It looks like clear gloss with sparkles to the naked eye but upon closer inspection it is a baby pink with small shimmers. 1 con: the scent is not my cup of tea. I prefer chocolatey/vanilla/nutty scents in my lipgloss (think MAC) over fruity smells and this one is definitely cherry. Other than that I love this as much as I love most of NYX's lip glosses and I will certainly buy this again if I run out although it seems like this is going to last forever :)

Lip Gloss -MAC - Young Thing
rated 5 of 5
MzSiStarr 2/18/2011 1:23:00 PM

LOVE IT!!!!! I use this alone or over almost every nude lipstick I own. I actually have two of these because I love it so much. It does remind me of C-Thru just a little bit more shimmery. Like a previous reviewer mentioned, Young Thing is so great because it's very pigmented but the color is buildable for your desired effect. I also like that I can wear this through the seasons and it still works, whether I have a tan or not. I would absolutely buy this again when I run out!

Lipstick -Revlon - Matte Lipstick - Nude Attitude
rated 3 of 5
MzSiStarr 2/18/2011 1:16:00 PM

I don't hate this color but I don't particularly love it because I can't wear it on its own. Every time I wear this I have to use a lip-liner to tighten it up, if not my lips look crazy ashy! I'm NC44/45 so this is way light for me and I find myself using a peach/pink gloss to darken it up but it still looks a little off on me. It dries me out terribly as well, even with lip balm underneath. I prefer Soft Nude so I gave this to my mom...her skin is lighter and she loves this. She keeps it in her purse at all times. I'd say if you are NC44 or darker with yellow undertones you're probably going to hate this alone but you can doctor it up with liner and gloss but IMO that defeats the purpose if you have to do all that to make it wearable. I would not buy this again.

Lipstick -Revlon - ColorBurst in 070 Soft Nude [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
MzSiStarr 2/18/2011 1:09:00 PM

This is one of my favorite Nude lipsticks. I'm NC44/45 depending on the season and it works perfectly for me. I'm wearing it today without anything but blistex underneath, but normally I wear it with a nude lip-liner and gloss on top. My lips are very pigmented, closer to purple than pink and this color is very milky without any shimmer. Its nude/light pink on me. This color looks absolutely amazing with smokey eyes and bronzed skin! I think the packaging is really pretty, love how they wrote Revlon in the actual lipstick. This doesn't dry my lips out but I always wear some sort of balm under my lipsticks...never tried it without balm. I will repurchase this again because I am very pleased with the overall product.

Liquid -MAC - Studio Fix Fluid SPF 15
rated 3 of 5
MzSiStarr 2/16/2011 9:49:00 PM

I have this...NC44, not too crazy about it. When I use it I find myself mixing it with a little bit of Black Radiance's Color Perfect (Rum Spice). SFF makes me ashy when I use it alone. I find the coverage to be weak and somewhat cakey. I used to blend it with a 109 but it goes on better with my elf studio brush blush. I like Revlon's CS & PR better though. Much better.

Eyeliner -Maybelline - Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner
rated 5 of 5
MzSiStarr 2/16/2011 3:00:00 PM

I have nothing but great things to say about this product. I Love it!!!!! I have this in Black and I also have one in Eggplant. I think they are fantastic. They don't dry out (I've had mine for over 6 months), they glide on perfectly, and they do not budge for the entire day...even when I workout. Before this I used Bobby Brown's Gel Eyeliner which IMO doesn't come close to this. I also have L'oreal HIP Gel Eyeliner which also pales in comparison to Maybelline's version. If I could make one teensy-weensy criticism I would just wish the Black version of this was a little bit darker. But regardless I will buy this over and over again, definitely one of my favorite products which I use on a daily basis.

Eyeliner -Revlon - Colorstay Eyeliner
rated 4 of 5
MzSiStarr 2/16/2011 2:51:00 PM

When I first purchased this eyeliner I thought I was in love! I still like it a lot but I must say it does smudge for me (I use it on my water-line). In fact, I usually line my eyes after I do my eyeshadow but before I apply my foundation/powder/bronzer and I notice by the time I finish my face the eyeliner has already worn off. C'mon that's like 15 minutes! I do like that it is very dark (I have the black one) and I've noticed that if I use it and then set it with a black eyeshadow it lasts longer but eventually it will smudge which annoys me. It's not the end of the world cause I carry it with me in my makeup bag so if anything I can just reapply. I found it to be quite pricey for a DS Eyeliner...but I do like the packaging, the built in sharpener is very convenient! Overall I would buy it again unless I find something better in the meanwhile. For now I'm going to use it until its gone.

Liquid -Cover Girl - Queen Collection Oil-Free Moisturizing Make-Up
rated 3 of 5
MzSiStarr 2/15/2011 11:19:00 PM

Okay so I gave this 3's across the board. I'm in amber glow 705. Initially I felt like they didn't have my color so I would mix two to get the desired shade. But when I ran out of both I picked up 705 and that seemed to work fine. I used this a lot when CG first dropped Queen Collection. It does not break me out, nor does it dry me out. This is minimal coverage at best with very little lasting power. But I will say that surprisingly I like this on a hot summer day when I pretty much want to go bare faced but even out my skintone. Yeah, I consider to give as much coverage as a tinted moisturizer. Its super sheer. I did say I will buy this again but that's only because I've already repurchased this once before. These days I go for a little bit more of a heavy coverage when purchasing foundation but I'm sure there will be a summer day when I want to have the "no make-up" look and I'll use this to achieve that.

Loose Powders -E.L.F. - Mineral Booster
rated 3 of 5
MzSiStarr 2/15/2011 11:06:00 PM

I have mixed feelings about this product but realistically I do not think I like it. I do like that it makes my skin feel baby soft.... I like that you get a good amount of powder, it comes completely full whereas some loose powders seem like they come half empty. I love the price It doesn't sink into my fine lines under my eyes too badly but I've used better. It controls my shine OK but then again I have dry skin, I'm not that oily to begin with. ...With that said the deal breaker for me is that I do not like the color of the powder. Its way too pink for my NC44 skin. Its weird cause yes it is translucent but I get a pink cast that totally brings the pink out of my foundation. Not Cute! I think I would like it a lot more if it were yellow-based, I've been hearing that the BMMV is yellow-based and I think I'm going to try that. Overall I can only use this with a really light hand (to avoid looking like a piglet!) and I'm going to keep it because I use it on my mom who is a lot lighter than me. It works very well for her because she has natural pink undertones in her skin. But I won't repurchase this.

Palettes -Coastal Scents - 88 eyeshadow palette
rated 5 of 5
MzSiStarr 2/15/2011 5:59:00 PM

I'm Obsessed with this Palette!!! OMG I've been using it every single day for over a year. Even when I use a different brand of eyeshadow. I always find a way to incorporate a shadow from this palette in my look. I consider myself to be pretty experienced with makeup because I started wearing it in middle school (yup tryna be grown smh) but no matter the level of expertise, everyone should own this! The color pay-off is ridiculously pigmented for $20. I'm a fan of Coastal Scents. I own 3 of their eyeshadow palettes (including the 28 neutrals which is absolutely gorgeous, a staple for work), a blush palette, a concealer palette, and several of their loose glitter powders. Very Satisfied Custy!
