Lip Treatments -Fresh - Sugar Lip Treatment SPF 15
rated 3 of 5

This is just way too expensive for an average product. It's thick and I don't like that at all... it doesn't feel waxy like ChapStik but it's thick and to me that equates to yucky. At first I liked the weight of the tube but now I don't... it seems cumbersome. And I definitely don't like the screw-on top. Sorry, I just don't. The scent is great... except that it has no taste so it's a waste for it to be scented. I don't care if a balm is flavored but I just can't see the point of having a fabulous scent like this has and for the flavor to be non-existent. Yes, it protects my lips but egads for the price I can buy a carton of Blistex Lip Treatment and my lips will be just as protected. I won't buy this again and feel stupid having paid so much for a lip balm. My favorite continues to be Dr. Haushka's Lip Care Stick... I should never have bought Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment.

Styling Products -Rene Furterer - Spray Gloss
rated 4 of 5
Marlena_M 2/16/2007 9:45:00 PM

Without a doubt this is the lightest shine spray I've ever used. It's not super oily like all the other's I've tried. Yes, it's basically an oil but it's very lightweight and doesn't weigh down my fine hair whatsoever. I prefer this over Frederick Fekkai's for sure. Adds lots of shine but not greasiness :) I will repurchase :)

Conditioner -Unlisted Brand - ICON Cure - Leave In Conditioner spray
rated 5 of 5
Marlena_M 2/16/2007 9:39:00 PM

My stylist has used this on me for a long time and I finally decided I wanted to have it myself so I could use it all the time. Without a doubt ICON Cure is my all-time favorite leave in conditioner. Just a few spritzes of this miracle elixer and my hair is very happy. ICON is not the easiest line to find - it's available online thru PlanetBeauty.com - but it's worth the effort. Cure is not greasy and not at all heavy. I have fine hair and ICON Cure does not weigh it down at all. I love this product and I will continue to repurchase!

Shampoo -Rene Furterer - Naturia Dry Shampoo
rated 4 of 5
Marlena_M 2/16/2007 9:30:00 PM

Great product. So much more convenient and less messy than Oscar Blandi's version. Just part your hair and spray from a distance about 15"... keep parting and keep repeating. Let it sit for about two minutes then brush it thru. Easy breezy and great results. But don't spray too much or you'll have grey-hair! LOL. It's expensive and sometimes hard to find but it's a great product! I will repurchase.

Styling Products -Kiehls - Stylist Series Heat-Protective Silk Straightening Cream
rated 4 of 5
Marlena_M 2/12/2007 10:41:00 AM

My hair is fine, naturally curly and chemically treated. I usually wear it curly but blow dry it straight 1-2x per week. When I blow dry it straight, the Kiehl's Heat Protective Silk Straightening Cream makes my hair look great. My hair looks smooth and shiny... and it has incredible bounce and swing! I don't even have to flat iron very much... just a touch to keep things looking great. ETA: I used to think this was my HG... and it is, for a creme. But I've found that Brocato Cloud 9 Blow Out Serum is much lighter and actually gives better results so I would not repurchase the Kiehl's even though it's a great product (I just found one better)

Hair Styling Tools -Mason Pearson - Junior Mixed Bristle Brush
rated 5 of 5
Marlena_M 2/11/2007 12:26:00 PM

I never thought a brush could make a difference... but it does. My stylist used a MP to brush my hair one time and I...was...HOOKED!. I can't believe how good this brush feels on my scalp. I ordered one online for a steal of a price (not from ebay!) and have absolutely no regrets. I was thrilled beyond words already but after using it to blow dry my hair, I couldn't believe the difference it made. My hair was silky soft and super shiny. I have the Junior Mixed Bristle BN2 and it's the perfect size for my below shoulder length, very fine hair. Expensive yes, but I do expect this brush to last me a lifetime... and if something were to happen to it, I would definitely repurchase.

Styling Products -Aveda - flax seed aloe strong hold sculpturing gel
rated 2 of 5
Marlena_M 2/2/2007 8:11:00 PM

I bought this based on reviews and it doesn't work well for my fine, naturally curly, chemically treated hair. No matter what I pair this with, it leaves my curls feeling exceptionally dry. Wanted to love it, can't stand it. No, I would not repurchase.

Shampoo -Brocato - Cloud 9 Miracle Repair Shampoo
rated 5 of 5
Marlena_M 1/29/2007 2:22:00 PM

I can't believe I haven't reviewed this item. It's my HG shampoo - LOVE IT!. I have fine, naturally curly, chemically treated hair and this wonderfully smelling, sulfate-free shampoo is the best I've found. Leaves my hair soft, shiny and doesn't weigh it down. The scent is very light and clean... not fruity, not foody, not floral... just light and clean. The 10oz bottle sells for around $11 however if you catch the 20% off and Liter-Sale both at the same time at Ulta you can pick up the 33oz bottle for $9.99 (usually $29.99... liter sale pricing is $12.49 then 20% off). I have repurchased several times and will continue to do so.

Styling Products -Redken - Body Full Weightlifter [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
Marlena_M 1/23/2007 10:18:00 AM

This is great stuff! I have fine, naturally curly, chemically treated hair that I blow dry straight about 1-2x per week. This is easy to apply and gives great volume that isn't stiff or sticky one bit. Unlike mousses, this doesn't leave your hair feeling coated. I'm not so thrilled about it on curly hair... leaves my curls crunchy. But when I wear my hair curly, I don't need volumizer so this does not diminish my love of the product one bit. I plan to repurchase.

Shampoo -Kenra - Kenra Clarifying Shampoo
rated 3 of 5
Marlena_M 1/21/2007 8:34:00 PM

This is a nice clarifying shampoo. Has a great grapefruit scent and does a good job of removing the products I use in my hair (if I wear it curly, I use heavier, more silicone-based styling products to keep my natural curls under control). No complaints about this but I would not repurchase since it doesn't work as well as Aveda Detox.

Marlena_M 1/21/2007 5:28:00 PM

This is a really versatile product. I have naturally curly, baby fine, chemically treated hair. I love to use Super Sculpt when I wear my hair curly and I love to use it when I blow dry my hair straight. Gives great polish and style. I would repurchase.

DH and I both love this. I use just a small amount sometimes when I want to wear my hair curly... he uses it when he wants to spike up his hair all over, or just on top. Gives excellent hold... allllll day! We keep repurchasing :)

Treatments -Redken - All Soft Silk Fuel [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
Marlena_M 1/21/2007 5:21:00 PM

This is a great product. I have naturally curly (3AB), fine hair that is color treated and has a mild chemical relaxer on it. I use Redken All Soft Silk Fuel weekly as a deep conditioner (and especially after the 1-2x per month I use Redken Extreme Fuel protein treatment). I apply one tube to towel dried hair, throw on a plastic processing cap, sit under the hood dryer for about 20 minutes (the heat opens the cuticle so the product penetrates better) and then leave it on for another 10-40 minutes depending on how much time I have. It rinses super cleanly and leaves my hair soft and hydrated. I love the convenience of the single application tubes so I know I'm using enough but not wasting product by using too much. I keep at least one full box (often two) in my product arsenal at all times. I will continue to repurchase.

Treatments -Nexxus - Emergencee Strengthening Polymeric Reconstructor
rated 4 of 5
Marlena_M 1/18/2007 10:43:00 PM

Nice product. Gives my hair a lot of much needed restructuring... I use it once or twice a month. The packaging underwent some changes though it looks the same. I have two bottles, one says to leave on for 1-2 mintues however the newer bottles have different instructions. Just in case there's any discrepancy on how to use this... Directions straight from the new-design bottle...

Shampoo with the Nexxus Shampoo for your type of hair. Towel dry hair. Apply an ample amount (approximately 1/2 ounce) of Emergencée to completely cover the hair and work through; cover hair with plastic cap. Leave in for 10 minutes with or without medium heat. Rinse with lukewarm water. Shampoo with Therappe Luxury Moisturizing Shampoo. Apply Humectress Ultimate Moisturizing Conditioner into the hair to maintain moisture balance. Leave in for 3 minutes; rinse out. Proceed with styling.

Styling Products -Redken - Full Frame Protective Volumizing Mousse
rated 4 of 5
Marlena_M 1/12/2007 1:13:00 PM

This is yet another good performer from the Redken line. It gives my hair lots of body and doesn't coat it to the point of feeling gross. The dispenser is "different" but not in a bad way. When I blow dry my hair straight and want some volume, this is the product I reach for. I would repurchase.
