Pressed Powders -Physicians Formula - Happy Booster Glow & Mood Boosting Powder in Translucent
Magixz 1/29/2012 5:47:00 PM
Gosh thought I did a review on this little jewel already! I love this powder! For sure it does not give very much coverage, thus the name translucent. ;-) It does however make my face look more highlighted and boosted with an inner kind of glow. It is not a shine or frost thing either. It just looks pretty when I apply it over my foundation whether it is a powder foundation or a liquid. I do love the violet aroma too. It is very faint and I think since I have had my compact for a long time now, I think the lovely violet aroma has faded a lot but I still love it. The fragrance does not last on my skin at all but it is lovely when I open it and I smell the loveliness. The packaging alone is enough to make a person want it. The beautiful design of the colored hearts is a work of art and the cute little do nothing brush under the powder is adorable. ;-) I have never removed it from it's wrapping, it is just too cute, and I know it would not work as well as my blush brush. This is really one of those compacts that I want a backup of just in case it gets discontinued. I want a backup of the blush too for the very same reason! Surely Physicians Formula will not let these lovely jewels be discontinued from their lineup! Knowing what I know about this company and so many others though, they probably will in exchange for something else. So get yourself one!

Powder -Cover Girl - Simply Powder Foundation
Magixz 1/29/2012 5:29:00 PM
I got this one in #515 Natural Ivory. I have been trying many different powders to replace my Lancome Dual Finish or get close to it. All have come very short of supplying me with equal coverage except for this one. Cover Girl isn't half bad. I would prefer it had a nice smell but it doesn't. It does however apply evenly, does not settle in my wrinkles, or turn me orange. I do apply moisture cream before using this powder, otherwise I think it might be somewhat drying to my more mature skin. I only say this because it says nothing about being for more mature skin, and Cover Girl has always been aimed at the younger crowd IMO. I am really loving the shade I chose for this time of the year. I think come Summer I may purchase a shade darker if needed but for now this one is perfect. It is dark enough to provide good coverage but not so dark as to point out, "Hey, she is wearing makeup!" So for now, this one works. I do want to try the other newer products from L'Oreal when I can find an appropriate shade. ;-)

Lipstick -Avon - Pro Luscious Pout Lip Color
Magixz 1/25/2012 2:11:00 PM
I got this in the pink shade and I am not so impressed with the color really, but the lipstick itself is pretty moist and lush feeling on my lips. I intend on swapping the color for the plum shade which I think will be more suited to my skin tone. There are only like a few shades and the book swatches are not accurate. The pink looked darker in the book and online but in fact it is very light and more towards a melon/coral shade of pink rather than the blue pink shown. Hopefully the plum will be more towards the blue side. I do like the little pot of gloss on the bottom of the tube although one needs a brush to apply this. The mirror on the cap is a cute idea as well but with my eyesight...well forget about it. ;-) All being said, I am going to try this one again.

Eyeliner -Physicians Formula - Shimmer strips custom eye enhancing eyeliner trio
Magixz 1/15/2012 2:12:00 PM
I have these in green & brown. I really love the green one for the dark purple and I like the brown one for the purple & dark brown shades. I find the blacks almost too black for my liking but they are still useful. These go on really easy and stay on all day without smudging or running down my face. Usually I have to get waterproof for this to happen for me but these do not budge. I love that when it is time to remove, they come off very easy with just my face cream remover. I do not have to tug and tug to get them off. I think I will get these in the blue too. I have the blue gel liner from P.F. but to me these pencils are just easier to use. Sometimes to get a darker line with the purples and the brown it does take two or three coats depending on what look I am going for. The only down side I can see is, it would be great if we could buy refills for the pencils instead of having to just throw them away when they are empty. They are attractive enough to use again and it seems such a waste of materials to just have to throw them out. Guess that is why our world is in such trouble, the amount of waste that could be avoided. Other than that little rant, these are great liners for the price.

Fragrances -Avon - Hervé Léger Femme (2010)
Magixz 1/14/2012 1:43:00 PM
Okay so I fell for yet another scent! I should have stuck with the sample vials because they seemed to smell better! I noticed in the book this fragrance had been reduced to $15 and was soon to be gone forever according to Avon's ad so I ordered it. The sample vials smelled interesting and was not so bad, but this main bottle smelled completely different! I do not understand what the difference is but it is not as nice of a fragrance. Perhaps it is older stock??? Now another big downer for me, lately Avon charges me full price for everything even if it says it is on sale! How can Avon advertise this for $15 in the book and then charge me $34! Not kidding!!! I wanted to scream at them but since I could not tolerate the difference in the vial fragrance compared to whatever is in the bottle, I asked for credit. I still paid for the shipping which I guess is only fair enough, Avon did send it to me and I did get it but the difference in the pricing has to stop. Perhaps this was just an error on their part and I guess I should have asked but since I was not keeping it...well I just did not have time to waste right then as it was during the Christmas season. Should this be some new game Avon has started with us Reps, I will be saying something in the future. Too bad about this fragrance though because I really do want for a new Avon fragrance that I can once again really enjoy.

Mascara -Rimmel - Volume Accelerator Mascara
Magixz 1/3/2012 1:55:00 PM
So far I am really loving this mascara. I have tried several over the last week and so far this is by far the best one. I am unsure whether it actually lengthens or creates more volume yet but the mascara itself performs well for me. It does not clump or flake off and that is amazing in itself. It is not waterproof so it cleans off well too. I have slept in this mascara and was pleased to find it did not end up all black under my eyes. My lashes have always been pretty long when I put mascara on them but some of the others I tried did nothing to show off the length. This mascara does show how long my lashes are already. I am looking forward to finding more volume or thicker lashes. My lashes are not that thin but I would love them to be even thicker. So if this mascara does live up to it's advertisement, I will post that too. The color is a great black too. So all in all, it this mascara does not dry out in two weeks time or less, I will repurchase.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast Fusion
Magixz 1/1/2012 7:26:00 PM
This was my second try at buying a new mascara. It was a giant fail for me. It went on okay and it did not smudge even though it was none waterproof. I was thinking it would be alright, but not the case. I used my Lancome eye makeup remover to wash it off that night and it looked as though I got it all but the next morning I found flakes everywhere! I did not think I would ever get my face cleaned off. I got the blackest black I could find but it was not so black on my eyes. I bought two that day as they had buy one get one half off. I never opened the other one because being the same brand to me meant the same thing would probably happen. I took them back for a return and purchased a different brand yet again. So far so good with it. I will write a review on it if it is still okay tomorrow. I am starting to think drug store brands are not so good anymore. I was using Estee Lauder all this time but can only get that from the Mall. I may end up having to go out of my way to purchase E.L. if this third try is a big failure.

Mascara -L'Oreal - Voluminous False Fiber Lashes
Magixz 1/1/2012 7:18:00 PM
Being disabled and retired now, I have not been using as much mascara as I always have been. I must have 4 or 5 tubes that eventually have all dried out to the point of no good. So...I have been on the shop for a new mascara and I have went through 4 tubes now, but only trying 3 of them. This is one of the first ones I tried and it was a big fail for me. Yeah it went on fine without too much smudging or clumping but it did not make my lashes look long or much fuller. In fact, I would say the opposite. It was just so so. I got it in waterproof as my older eyes seem to weep a lot more than ever before and I get so hot my whole eye area just gets wet with water. I tried to take this off that night and it appeared to my aging eye sight that most of it came off with my Lancome eye makeup remover, but the next morning was tragic! I had giant size flakes under, above, and in my eyes. I immediately washed my eyes out again and used my makeup remover but it took some doing to get most of the flakes down to a ,manageable degree. My eyes did not like this mascara either as they were somewhat blurry when I was wearing it. I returned it the next day and bought a different brand, Cover Girl ;-). That review will be on the correct page. It was not much better for the flaky mess and I chose to get a none waterproof to see if it made a difference.

Lips -Maybelline - Color Sensational Lipstain
Magixz 12/19/2011 7:58:00 PM
I have this in Wink of Pink and as much as I love the color, it does not last long at all. I have lipsticks that last much longer. The felt tip goes dry in no time at all and applying to the top lip is almost impossible to get color to come out. As much as I do love the color, I will not re-buy this product. The price is too high for the quality.

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Senatore Pour Femme by Swiss Odeon
Magixz 12/13/2011 4:17:00 PM
Found this at Ross's as I was looking for a different scent. I read on the box made in France, so I bought it unsmelled. Usually fragrances made in France are of good quality and this one was not a let down. The ingredients are listed as bergamot, peach ,clover and ylang-ylang, has a jasmine rose and patchouli middle, and ends with vanilla, sandalwood, vetiver .musk and orange blossom notes. It smells really good and it last a long time. If you find a bottle give it a try, I think you will like it too.

Lips -Urban Decay - Lip Envy Stain in Greedy
Magixz 12/5/2011 7:38:00 PM
Compared to all the other lip stains out there, Urban Decay is by far the very best! This goes on smooth and evenly, unlike all the others. This one actually last for several hours, unlike all the others, and this one has a better applicator. All the pen stains apply to the bottom lip okay but when I try to apply it to my top lip, it is as though the pens are empty of stain and nothing hardly goes on. UD is not like that. The little brush allows me to get equal color on top and bottom. It smells great and taste good too. Most of the pen stains I have tried and I think I have tried them all, taste like a color crayon! Now for the color of Greedy. I love it! I have med. skin tones with green eyes and this color is perfect for me. It looks more of a ruby red color in the container but once on my lips a lovely purple hue shows up. I think it must have hints of blue that I always find nice. If you have not tried this shade because you think it is just too bold, give it a try. Once the immediate stain has worn down a bit, it soothes down to a lovely light rosy/purple tint color. Got to love it!

Lips -Avon - Lip Stain Maker in Berry Bitter
Magixz 12/4/2011 12:43:00 AM
Another new product, and another big let down! I was so hoping for a lip stain that works but this does not. This is not in the book yet but will be soon. Perhaps it is the color I chose but this one just splotches so bad and the felt tip on the applicator always seems to be dried out. Funny how it works on the bottom lip but nothing comes out on the top lip with these kinds of markers. I cannot tell it has any stain ability at all either. Nothing is left on my lips after about a half an hour. These lip stain markers are a great idea if they only worked and so far, none of the ones I have tried work. Back to Urban Decay for my lip stains!

Lipstick -Avon - Ultra Color Rich White Gold - Golden Berry
Magixz 12/4/2011 12:37:00 AM
Well this one strikes out with me. I think the color is just okay, nothing like the swatches in the book though. I do love the sparkle touch it has but it is so soft the tube was messed up upon delivery! The staying power is absolutely no time. One lick of the lips and it is gone. Too bad because I really wanted to love this one with the sparkle.

Lipstick -Revlon - Colorburst Lip Butter
Magixz 11/5/2011 10:10:00 AM
I was not impressed...with all the great ingredients listed, I expected this lippie to be super great but instead it is more like an expensive chap stick! I did not find it to be extra special in any way. I bought the darker pink one. It was hard to see on my lips no matter how many times I applied it. No taste, no smell either which is odd to me considering all the ingredients they listed. I returned it the very next day! Maybe if Revlon vamps this lippie up some more I will try it again but for now, it cost too much for what it is and how it looks on me. I would rather add another 7 dollars and go buy me a MAC favorite for the money.

Palettes -mark - mark Snap To It Mega Custom Color Palette
Magixz 10/28/2011 2:46:00 AM
I have at least 4 of the large size of this one and I love them! I am always changing my colors around in the palettes as Mark comes out with newer shades. I really enjoy matching the different blushes and shadows together differently to meet whatever my requirements are at the time. They are very easy to switch around and I really like the push button opening, along with the shadow brushes with the wider brush on the opposite ends for blushes when I am in a pinch for time. The shadow end of the brushes are very tight and compact allowing for a good application and hold a good deal of shadow for application. The little mirror is helpful too. I have all the sizes and the large one's are great for storing many shadows. The med. size is great for carrying in my purse with two shadows and a favorite blush. A really good investment IMO.
