Primer/ Corrector -Philosophy - The Present Clear Makeup
LaurieAnne 12/1/2005 12:56:00 PM
I just got a sample of this from sephora.. and it made my foundation look better I suppose (but not dramatically so), however this is supposed to have something in it to clear up your skin, but it gave me quite the breakout. Not recommended.

Lipstick -Tarte - Hotpants
LaurieAnne 12/1/2005 12:51:00 PM
First of all, the packaging is horrible. The tube is so small, that it shaves lipstick off the back everytime you turn the lipstick up and down. Improvements please tarte! Second of all, the texture of this lippie is very grainy. Third, the description on sephora is totally wrong..its not at all bubble gum pink. It's a fairly nice color.. a very cool purplish deep pink.. but I was hoping it would be more in your face pink.. but I do love the very cool undertones.

Lipstick -Delux Beauty - Leonard [DISCONTINUED]
LaurieAnne 12/1/2005 12:46:00 PM
This has a fine silky texture.. but its a hideous color. I only bought this because I read on some beauty breakdown website that Rose McGowan wears it - and I love her taste, and we have the same skin tone, and she's known for her pinks and fuchsias. And I looked at websites to see the colors.. they all made it look very pink. It's not, its a gross muddy red orangy boring color. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Asphyxia
LaurieAnne 12/1/2005 12:37:00 PM
This is my 2nd favorite purple e/s in the world. (First being MAC violet pig). This reminds me of a MAC veluxe pearl in texture. Its super silky, iridescent, and shiny. This flashes pink, and a little bit of blue too. I thought it was going to be a bright medium purple from the reviews (thats what mac violet pig is though), but no, its actually a light lilacy/lavendar color. Not quite as light as lilac, but definitely not a medium purple. Its pretty bright, and stunning.. I didn't know I wanted a light purple shade til I tried this. The swatch on sephora makes this look very pink.. and though it flashes pink, its definitely a lavendar color - not a pink/fuchsia color at all (I can't wear a lot of pink/red near the eyes or it makes them look bloodshot and weird). This is a very flattering color to my blue eyes, it really brings out the blue.

Lipstick -NARS - Venice
LaurieAnne 12/1/2005 12:22:00 PM
NARS has my favorite lipsticks after Lola, and then MAC. This is a light cool pink.. but its very porn star super frosty/pearlescent. Its a very common color to me, I think cover girl makes about 10 of this same color. I love cool pinks, but I hate frost. I like even coverage and lots of pigment in my lipstick.

Eye Shadow -MAC - shimmermoss (Veluxe pearl)
LaurieAnne 12/1/2005 12:20:00 PM
I love the VP texture. So silky, so soft, so shiny, so iridescent. This isn't as shimmery as I thought it would be with the name - but it is highly shiny in texture. I also thought it would be a lot lighter of a color..its more of a light/medium shade than the light it looks like on the site. Its definitely a cool green - when I first put it on, to my eyes it looked more blue than green. But after my eyes adjusted, it definitely look more like a cool green than a blue-green, but it does definitely have some blue tones to it. I think its definitely like a light mossy color with a slight trace of mint green and blue to it. Lovely.

Eyeliner -GirLActik - Sparkles in Multi Jewels
LaurieAnne 12/1/2005 12:17:00 PM
This is my favorite glitter. THey are very fine and they adhere. Its mostly silver, with multi colored other glitter in it. You cant see big pieces of it, all you can see is the disco ball like light catching flecks of light. Its very lovely, and can add sparkle to any eyeshadow. This is very dramatic and very sparkly, but it doesn't look at all 13 years old because you can't see gross chunks of glitter on your eyes and it doesn't fall all over your face badly. The only things that could be improved is to put a sifter in it (why on earth do you have to take the inner lid everytime to use this?) and to give you more product - this comes in a tiny container of product.

Blush -Delux Beauty - Crush Lip & Cheek Stain - Pink Cherry [DISCONTINUED]
LaurieAnne 12/1/2005 12:13:00 PM
This is a neutral or slightly warm rosy pink..not nearly as bright or as pink as it looks on sephora's sucky swatch. As always delux gives you a TINY amount of product. I can't wear pinks that aren't cool, so this wasn't for me. It does have a nice silky texture and good pigmentation, though.

Blush -Too Faced - Flushed Blush - Pretty in Pink
LaurieAnne 12/1/2005 12:00:00 PM
There's two versions of this - theres a cream stick version, and a pressed powder one. I like cream and gel blushes usually best, but the cream one is 100% peach, not a trace of pink. And I wish the tube was smaller too for applying it directly to the face. I can't wear anything with a trace of peach, It has to be cool pink for me, but the cream version is formulated well if you want a peach color. The pretty in pink pressed powder - .. I'm so confused on what to say about it. The first day I tried it, I thought it was my HG blush that I'd been searching for. I applied it to bare skin, and it gave a glowy pink blush with shimmer, looked very snow angel. Day 2, I wear it on top of my foundation.. it looks like a completely peach boring color...! What the heck. Day three.. it looks pink peach. Day 4.. It looked pink when I first put it on (on bare skin) but then it turned slowly warm. Well I decided to send it back, but if it had looked like it had on that first day I wore it, it would be perfect. Each time I tried, it looked much better on bare skin than with my foundation. I've never had my foundation change the color of something before.. I dunno. But, it would be lovely if you were looking for a pink with a touch of peach to it.. it looks very glowy, and I love th dual-formulation, and its the silkiest powder blush I've seen.

Blush -Too Faced - Blush Bouquet - Tuberose Crush
LaurieAnne 12/1/2005 11:55:00 AM
This is my all time HG blush. *sighh* It's such a beautiful glowy cool pink.... it smells delish, and the texture is beautiful, makes me look so glowy. It is so hard to find true cool pink blushes- I can't hardly wear neutrals or warms, they all end up being pink-peach - as with too faced new flushed blushed pretty in pink products - definitely peach instead of pink. This has been discontinued, please too faced, bring it back!

Lipstick -Stila - Liza Lipstick
LaurieAnne 12/1/2005 11:51:00 AM
This is a lovely, creamy, very pigmented but still slightly sheer (read: not completely opaque) raspberry-pink-rose. It's a medium yet semi-dramatic color.. its very similar to Lola princess in the level of pigment and tone, except this is more raspberry-rose while Lola princess leans more pink, but both are lovely pinks, and very moisturizing. I prefer Lola princess though, and like more of a pink, but if I am in the mood for a raspberry look, this would definitely be the one I'd chose. This is definitely a cool color of lipstick, which I love.

Lipstick -Lola Cosmetics - Lip Creme - Princess
LaurieAnne 12/1/2005 11:48:00 AM
I love lola lippies, they are the best! I love them even more than my dearly cherished MAC lipsticks. They really understand the skin tones of women there - they make their lipsticks very flattering to the complexion. This is a very creamy, *very* pigmented (read: a bit dramatic) cool pink with rosy undertones. Its a deeper, rosier, more pigmented version of my HG, pink panther. Very moisturizing, no frost or shimmer, just all around a lovely lipstick.

Cleansers -Aveeno - Ultra-Calming Foaming Cleanser
LaurieAnne 11/26/2005 8:02:00 AM
I don't generally use foaming cleansers, I don't ever hardly like Aveeno or drugstore stuff in general, but this is my current favorite cleanser. Its very gentle, but very thorough, cleans all the oil, makeup, etc. It really does calm - the rest of their calming line stupidly has fragrance and alcohol.. this has extra good ingredients too like their soy stuff etc, besides their feverfew. I was hesitant to try the feverfew stuff, I thought it was a gimmick. Then I read it has more antioxidant and antiinflammatory properties than any of 2000 other products tested in clinical trials and really reduces redness in a week. This is a very nice non-medicated gentle cleanser that does really calm. I wish they would reformulate the rest of their ultra-calming line so I could have a moisturizer in it with their feverfew. And it does seem odd, its one of those opposites things.. I am actually allergic to feverfew -its related to ragweed. I take allergy shots even. But, seriously, its in the medical journals, when a special purified extract of it is used, at least on the skin, I don't know about injesting it, so don't try that, it calms down allergic reactions more than anything else that's been tried. Weird, and I wish Aveeno had more info on this special ingredient of theirs (don't just use any feverfew, it has to be purified like in Aveeno stuff) but it works on my skin.

Moisturizers -Dove - Fresh Radiance Anti-aging Lotion
LaurieAnne 11/26/2005 7:55:00 AM
I'm a product snob, but this is better than any moisturizer ever. And I normally hate dove's stuff, even their new stuff. But they have a couple great products. Seriously, read the ingredients on this. And not only the amazing antioxidants like the viamins, green tea extract, grape seed extract, and pomegranate extract, but the moisturizers are so high end and rare because usually a product either tends to be really light or really heavy, and this one has high end moisturizers thats right in the middle - deeply moisturizing, but light feeling and non greasy, calming, and doesn't clog pores. I have sensitive skin, with bad acne, that tends to be dry, and I use Rx acne meds. This is absolutely perfect for me. It also has uva/uvb sunscreen, and the ingredients are protected in this day version in a pump style bottle. Perfect, HG.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Pigment in Violet
LaurieAnne 11/8/2005 10:59:00 PM
Holy cow! I loveee purple eyeshadows. They look great with my blue eyes. And to me, the brighter, the truer, and the more iridescent, the better. Well, I've never tried a MAC pigment til I just got this one. And it is the best purple eyeshadow I've ever tried, its great used dry with a brush, it's even better if you make your brush a little damp. You can pile this on if you like and it looks great. It's very shiny and iridescent, and its a medium to dark bright cool purple..no plum, no lilac, no red, no pink, no blue.. its true purple/violet. It's amazing.. its like a deeper, brighter, truer purple/less pink version of Urban Decay Asphyxia.. especially if you use your brush damp. And until now, Asphyxia was my HG purple e/s. Wow. I'm speachless!
