A really nice product! Dries quickly and protects my nails from staining. It seems to extend the life of my pedicure. Good enough for me!

Masks -Philosophy - The Microdelivery Peel Hydrating Mask
rated 2 of 5
KatieLynn 10/3/2007 4:43:00 PM

I'm usually a gigantic fan of philosophy, and their skincare especially....but sadly, this was a "miss" for me. It was included in a kit from QVC, and I was excited to try it. I have no problems with sensitivity to their microdelivery peel, mini peel pads, when hope is not enough serum, etc. However, there is something in this mask that doesn't agree with me---it made my face feel hot, turn red and burned a bit like it was raw. I tried it multiple times (lol, I know...but I wanted it to work!) but with the same results.

Top/Base Coats -Seche Vite - Dry Fast Top Coat
rated 5 of 5

Wow, I'm really impressed with this product. I was initially surprised at how thick and goopy it was, but once you get a glob on the brush and (quickly!) spread it over your nail, it's fine. And boy, does this stuff set fast: perfect for someone like me who can break speed records as to how fast she can mess up a fresh manicure. My favorite part is the shine--it gives any polish that shiney depth that usually only comes from a pro job.

Gorgeous, rich and deep burgandy. I love how it looks on my fair skin. It's a very sexy, sophisticated blood red. Looks great on my toes and hands, its definitely a keeper.

Polishes -OPI - Sweet Heart
rated 3 of 5

Very pretty color. I absolutely love the brush, but even it didn't keep this polish from streaking. One coat would have been the exact opacity I was going for, but since it showed massive streakage I needed to apply another, and the look was too gloppy/opaque/"white out"-ish for my tastes.

Hair Styling Tools -T3 - Evolution
rated 5 of 5
KatieLynn 9/30/2007 10:18:00 PM

In a word, wow. I'll admit I was probably the most skeptical person on earth as to the performance of this hairdryer. First of all, let me tell you about my hair: bra-strap length, very wavy, coarse yet fine, highlighted, dryish--in other words, a frizz ball waiting to happen. I have never been one to use a dryer, simply because they typically make my hair look so dead, dry and frizzy.
I was ready for my Evolution to be a $168 +shipping ebay disaster, but I couldn't be more pleased. I will say that I hardly notice a faster dry time (definitely not the 60% they claim, maybe 10-15% is more like it) but the condition my hair is left in is what makes me want to scream love from the rooftops! My hair is so soft and shiny, it seems impossible that it could be due to my hairdryer! My ends, which even after a trim always look poofy after using my old dryer, look great. If your hair is anything like mine, take the plunge, you won't be disappointed. This is absolutely a worthy investment.

Hair Styling Tools -Solano - HAI Convertable Flat Iron
rated 5 of 5
KatieLynn 9/27/2007 10:55:00 AM

I'm absolutely amazed I haven't already reviewed my HAI, considering how much I adore it! I originally bought it as a Christmas present for my sister in 2004, but her best friend beat me to it and gave her a CHI. I figured I'd keep the HAI as a present to myself, and I'm so glad I did. I've used the CHI (actually, 2 different models---standard and turbo---my sister's original died this summer and I bought her a replacement) and I prefer mine. The CHI is a very good product, but at least for my hair, the HAI seems to take less time and fewer passes. I have bra-strap length, semi-thick, very wavy hair, and I can get it done in under10 minutes, 15 if I'm going for a 100% sleek, perfect look. Love it!

Cleansers -Ponds - Deep Cleanser Cold Cream
rated 5 of 5
KatieLynn 9/26/2007 4:08:00 PM

This goes on my list of "I will use this forever" products. Why didn't I start using it sooner, in fact? This is the perfect product for removing my "warpaint"--I love my waterproof mascara and eyeliner. Even MAC fluidliners, which wear like iron on me, melt right off with this simple, old fashioned product. I rub a dab on my lids, then wipe off with a tissue and follow with my regular cleanser (Philosophy Purity Made Simple). Effortless!

Styling Products -Garnier - Fructis XXL Volume Thickening Mousse Extreme
rated 5 of 5
KatieLynn 9/26/2007 4:05:00 PM

Hello, volume! A small-to-average sized squirt of this mousse worked through damp hair gives me major, major volume--to the point I had to tone it down! The pump is cute, the smell is great, it didn't leave my hair crunchy--it does tend to build up in my hair/scalp, but clarifying shampoo takes care of that problem right away.

Styling Products -Garnier - Fructis Sleek and Shine Weightless Anti-Frizz Serum
rated 5 of 5
KatieLynn 9/26/2007 4:01:00 PM

This isn't a 100% miracle product, but it's darn close for me. I think I have accepted that I will never have perfectly sleek hair, but this tames my hair (fine yet course, naturally wavy, highlighted bra-strap length) better than anything I've tried (Frizz Ease, BioSilk, Generic Biosilk, etc). A few pumps through damp hair is all it takes. It smells good, and leaves my (fine) hair soft and light--not greased down. I also love the fact that the pump twists closed for travel--big points there! I'm very happy with this purchase, and most Gariner products in general.

Treatments -Creative Nail Design - Solar Oil
rated 5 of 5
KatieLynn 9/26/2007 3:55:00 PM

Great product! As has been said before--brush it on, rub it in while you watch tv, and poof! healthy, moisturized nails and cuticles. This (along with getting enough water and taking my vitamins) has been the reason why I, a reformed hand/nail picker, has been able to keep her hands pretty. So why just 4 out of 5 lipsticks? The price! IknowIknowIknow, convenience...but $7 for .5oz of a few oils I could probably buy full sized bottles of for $10? I'll do that when my bottle runs out, and just refill.

Other -Unlisted Brand - Omega 3 supplement
rated 5 of 5
KatieLynn 9/25/2007 9:46:00 AM

I've been taking Nordic Natuals w/ lemon for about 3 months and am very pleased. I never get "fish burps". My nails are stronger and my hair seems to be growing in stronger and fasther. I can't say this is a miracle product for my skin, but I'm taking them more for my brain health than my vanity, though the extra perks are nice. :)

Bronzers -Smashbox - Fusion Soft Lights - Sunset
rated 5 of 5
KatieLynn 9/20/2007 11:17:00 PM

Love. It's funny; what made me love the look of the product at first is what I'm glad didn't last. I am, of course, referring to the gold shimmer overspray. It makes the compact look gorgeous; just like a sunset, with the colors all melding together. However, that shimmer is just too shimmery---not the subtle look found underneath Sunset, or any other SoftLights for that matter. Luckily, as noted, it goes away after a few uses and you are left with a trio of colors (mainly bronzer, but a bit of creamy pale yellow and smokey pink) that give my fair neutral/slightly cool skin a lovely glow. Another Softlights winner. :)

Shampoo -Clairol - Degunkify
rated 5 of 5
KatieLynn 9/19/2007 4:25:00 PM

This product is a winner for getting rid of product build-up. I have naturally very wavy, coarse yet fine medium/long blonde hair that I highlight. As I've yet to find a product that keeps my waves from looking totally frizzy, I tend to use my flat iron...a lot. My hair was starting to feel very heavy and just plain dirty, even after washing it. I wasn't sure whether to pick Degunkify or Drama Clean, so I went with Degunkify based on the fact I preferred its fragrance, and I'm quite happy. It doesn't make my hair all tangly or do funky things to my highlights, it smells good, it doesn't dry my hair/scalp out, and it makes my hair feel light and bouncy. Plus, I got it for $2.50. Thumbs up!

Mascara -Kiss Me - Kiss Me Mascara
rated 2 of 5
KatieLynn 9/18/2007 4:35:00 PM

I'm so glad I got a sample of this much-hyped product--so I know not to buy the full size. "Mediocre at best" is the perfect description for this mascara. It isn't necessarily horrendous, but it's definitely not good. Does it lengthen, thicken? Nothing exceptional. Does it clump? Yes, terribly. And I've never encountered a mascara that takes so long to dry. And it's price--ack. Futher proof that mascara is a category where CVS beats Sephora.
