Eye Shadow -Avon - Eight in One Eye Palette In Paradise Green
HotWolfie 3/30/2012 6:41:00 PM
This was my first Avon product (I received it as a gift) and I love it. The colors stick really well to my skin. They do need a little work to blend, but the effort is well worth it. All of the colors looked great on me, and I used several of the iridescent colors as highlighters. Staying power is medium. I did have to reapply after a few hours, but I still like the colors -- they really pop!
Package is one of those cheap compacts that break as soon as you look at it (the clear plastic cover snapped right off, and I'm not one of those people that throws around my makeup. It lives a comfortable life on a shelf.) Powder texture is nice, and soft, but that's the only compliment I can gives this. I'm pale, I look like a ghost lol but this still did not appear on my skin. Okay, so I tried caking it on... still no color. So, I basically bought a colorless blush :) Oh well, I'll use it to set my lipstick I guess.
Lip Gloss -Cover Girl - Wetslicks Fruit Spritzers-Plum Splash
HotWolfie 3/30/2012 6:29:00 PM
This applied well, was smooth and creamy, and gave a nice "wet" look to my lips. The gloss lasted a long time and I really liked the smell (not too overpowering). The color though was a little too severe for me. It's a little deep for just a gloss. I apply it very lightly so I get just a wee bit of color.
Lip Gloss -Cover Girl - Wetslicks Fruit Spritzers-Raspberry Splash
HotWolfie 3/30/2012 6:27:00 PM
I love CG wetslicks, but I've had issues with the colors not being anything close to their pictured colors swatches. This is one of the few wetslicks that's a pretty good match to the color swatch. It has an excellent texture (smooth and creamy) and leaves that "wetslick" look to your lips. It lasts a long time too, and it smell delicious! I highly recommend the Spritzer-Raspberry Splash wetslick. It's my favorite one!
Lip Gloss -Cover Girl - Wetslicks Fruit Spritzers - Guava Splash
HotWolfie 3/30/2012 6:25:00 PM
The texture for this is excellent: smooth, lightly creamy, and lives up to the name "wetslicks." It had a fantastic smell and and nice, glossy look. It lasts for quite awhile (about four hours for me - and that's with drinking w/o a straw, and washing my face). I made a deduction based on lack of color. Color did not apply as shown, not even close. It also made me look a little "washed out." Too pale in color. I've had issues with other CG glosses not living up to their ad colors as well. Otherwise, this is an excellent lip gloss.
Concealers -L'Oreal - True Match Super-Blendable Concealer
HotWolfie 3/30/2012 6:21:00 PM
I don't often use concealers unless I have a **ahem** monthly blemish. What I like about L'Oreal True Match Super-Blendable Concealer: not too thick consistency, blends well, a little goes a long way, it sticks really well to the skin. What I don't like about it: Can apply heavy if you're not careful (I would apply w/ a brush or a damp sponge). Overall, I really liked this product.
I found this comparable to some of CG's mascaras. It did it's job with no flare or anything special. It was basic. I was neither impressed nor disappointed. I would probably not buy this again. I'm a CG fan for mascaras.
Mascara -Cover Girl - Professional Super Thick Lash Mascara
HotWolfie 3/30/2012 6:13:00 PM
CG's one of my favorite lines for affordable mascara. Okay, so this one had a normal looking wand and the product didn't seem to clump on the brush. When applied it went on smoothly, no clumps (no need to comb eyelashes), and it had a great consistency. Color was nice and dark (listed as "very black"), and it stayed on the lashes with very little crumbling as the day progressed. As for thickening... it certainly lengthened my lashes, but they didn't look any thicker. This wasn't an issue for me since I already have pretty thick and long lashes, but if this is what you specifically bought it for then it'll be a disappointment. My lashes looked mile long with this mascara though lol It was an okay buy.
Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express The Falsies Waterproof Mascara
HotWolfie 3/30/2012 5:50:00 PM
I love mascara. I try out so many different brands that people always buy me mascara as a gift lol Anyhow, this was nothing like advertised. The wand is UGLY and awkward, and it applies in clumps (even with wiping the top clean after use). It does not look like "falsies" in any way. It's sub par mascara. I like the color, but the texture and overall quality of the product makes me mark it so low. Lashes stick together even with a comb, and it's just... such a disappointment. The only nice thing I can say about it is that the color is nice. So if you want clumpy, stuck together, spider lashes then this is the buy for you :)
Primer/ Corrector -Unlisted Brand - Monistat - Chafing Relief Powder-Gel
HotWolfie 3/30/2012 5:44:00 PM
I'm not a huge fan of primers unless I'm (a) going somewhere ridiculously hot (b) I'm wearing heavier makeup than usual (i.e. for photographs or HD videos). As a primer this is pretty comparable to Smashbox. It went on smoothly and took only about two minutes to set. Makeup applied evenly over the product. If you have acne prone skin, or oily skin I would not recommend this product. I would do a skin test first. Otherwise, I'm surprised by how well it worked.
Powder -L'Oreal - True Match Super-Blendable Powder
HotWolfie 3/30/2012 2:09:00 PM
I love the compact this product comes in! Very easy to carry and use. The powder goes on easily, blends well, and has excellent staying power. There is no detectable odor. I also like that this product line comes in a variety of shades. I usually use L'Oreal True Match liquid foundation, and then I use this powder with a brush to set the look. This powder, however, has such excellent coverage that I can also use it sans the liquid foundation. When I don't have time to do a full makeup application I "cheat" with this powder. It evens out my skin tone, gives slight coverage to blemishes, and blends well with blush. I love it!
Liquid -L'Oreal - True Match Super-Blendable Makeup SPF 17
HotWolfie 3/30/2012 2:04:00 PM
This is my favorite liquid foundation. It's affordable, there is a variety of shades, and it blends extremely well. This liquid foundation gives excellent coverage. I use a brush to apply it and then I either leave it as is, or I set it with L'Oreal True Match powder. It holds very well through out the day and I usually only touch up with the powder (I have an oily t-zone). If you're in hot weather (90 plus) I would recommend a primer underneath the foundation and powder touch ups. For the price, this is an excellent buy. I would highly recommend it!
Moisturizers -Kate Somerville - Nourish Daily Moisture
HotWolfie 3/30/2012 1:54:00 PM
A very light moisturizer. It was useless for my dry skin. It also did not wear very well through the day (needed reapplication). On the plus side, it was non-greasy and blended well into the skin. The smell was also pleasant. As a moisturizer, however, it was a let down.
This was an excellent exfoliant. If you have sensitive skin, however, I wouldn't recommend this product for you. If you leave it on too long you can get a "burning" sensation, and you're skin might turn a little pink. This wasn't the best exfoliant I've tried, and for the price, I most likely won't remain loyal to it. There are other equal or better quality exfoliants on the market for half the cost of this. For a one time pampering, or as a gift to someone, this would be fine.
Moisturizers -Kate Somerville - Quench Oil-Free Hydrating Face Serum
HotWolfie 3/30/2012 1:46:00 PM
After cleansing I applied the Quench serum and then my moisturizer. Meh. There was no noticeable difference. It definitely didn't moisturize my skin. So overall, it was disappointing for a product called "Quench." Application was smooth, however, and it blended well. It also didn't have a bad smell to it. The lack of moisturizing, however, would make me never buy this product again.
