Polishes -Sephora - Sephora by OPI - Mermaid To Order
rated 5 of 5

SOPI are the only polishes I can use on my toes, ever. They can last through a week of pointe class without chipping, and I've never found another polish that can even come close! Definitely worth the price, IMO. I'm not very good at applying polish either, but I can't get pedicures because I desperately need all the dead skin and calluses I can get, and because my toenails would just get torn or turn black the next time I danced! :D SOPI also has a nice thick formula that's easy to apply and can be opaque with one coat. It doesn't last quite so long on my fingernails though. Mermaid to Order is a very pretty, unique color, kind of a blue-green with a subtle silver shimmer that reminds me more than a little of a peacock. I especially like it with a coat of Sugarplum Fairies Gone Wild over the top- the lavender glitter really brings out the contrasting green and blue tones. It's a bit wild, but I love it. :) Looks better on my sister though, she has cool-toned skin.

Shampoo -Mane 'n Tail - Shampoo
rated 5 of 5
Haruhi13 1/4/2012 4:25:00 PM

I have fairly thick, wavy, waist-length hair. As anyone with this type and length of hair knows, the roots get oily at a normal rate, but the ends stay dry. Mane 'n Tail is an excellent shampoo. It really helps make my hair soft and shiny, and it's easy to lather and unscented. However, I have extremely strong hair that never gets split ends, I never blow dry it, and I only use heat styling tools maybe once every two months, so it might be a little too harsh for people with damaged hair. I also wouldn't recommend it for colored hair.

Blush -Tarte - Cheek Stain in Tipsy
rated 5 of 5
Haruhi13 1/4/2012 4:05:00 PM

I was lucky enough to receive a mini version of this as a gift, and I instantly fell in love with it. It smells very lemony (not like apricot at all) but it's a very pretty scent that I would adore as a perfume. I'd repurchase it for the scent alone! :D It looks bright pink, but it gives the barest hint of color with an extremely subtle shimmer, making it super natural. My face looks like it's glowing, and my cheeks look very dewy and fresh. It's also quite sheer. When it's first applied it feels sticky, but it dries fast and looks absolutely gorgeous. It's very much nicer than powder blush. I also found this extremely blendable and moisturizing, even getting my mom (who NEVER wears makeup) to ask me about it. Tipsy works well for most skin colors, but those who are very fair or very dark might want to try a different shade.

Styling Products -Paul Mitchell - Super Skinny Relaxing Balm
rated 5 of 5
Haruhi13 1/4/2012 3:46:00 PM

For reference, I have a lot of medium-thick, wavy, extremely frizzy hair which is currently almost waist-length. It's the type of hair that, when cut short, turns into a giant fluff ball. This works quite well, making my hair soft, silky and shiny. It doesn't completely eliminate frizz, but I'd be hard-pressed to name a product that does. It doesn't really make my hair straight either, which is nice. The scent is very pretty and floral. Overall, it's a nice product and I'll be repurchasing this. :)

Sophisticated, clean, crisp and pretty. I'm knocking one lippie off because it's a tad too strong for me.

It works beautifully without yanking out half my lashes (or any, really). Enough said.

Lipstick -Bobbi Brown - Creamy Lip Color - Italian Rose
rated 5 of 5
Haruhi13 1/3/2012 11:57:00 PM

For reference, I'm a L'Oreal True Match W3 with fairly pigmented reddish lips. This lipstick is a tad expensive, but then it is Bobbi Brown. The formula is very creamy, glides on smoothly, and is, shockingly, almost matte. I think this color is extremely flattering on almost anyone, as long as they aren't too fair. Color: Velvety dusty rose, very strongly pink on me. Packaging: Sturdy, high quality black tube, but boring and standard.

Moisturizers -Vaseline - Petroleum Jelly
rated 5 of 5
Haruhi13 1/3/2012 12:36:00 AM

It's basically a miracle in a jar. Like, seriously. No wonder it's the most widespread moisturizer ever. UPDATE: I've been using this on my horribly chapped and cracked lips every night, and they've become soft, plump, and smooth. Even Epicuren didn't yield such dramatic results.

Lip Treatments -Smith's Rosebud Salve - Smith's Rosebud Salve
rated 5 of 5
Haruhi13 1/3/2012 12:19:00 AM

The packaging is very cute. I knocked one lippie off because it's difficult to open if your hands are wet/greasy etc. This is very moisturizing (MUCH more so than the tube version) and has a wonderful scent to it. It's more than just Vaseline, that's for sure! I like it as a gloss, too, because it's not too shiny and has a subtle sheen of color. *EDIT: The one in the tube is HORRIBLE. It's thin and not moisturizing AT ALL. In fact, it's totally pointless. Just... don't waste your money on it. Buy the one in the tin!

Mascara -Maybelline - Great Lash Mascara
rated 1 of 5
Haruhi13 1/3/2012 12:10:00 AM

Runny, clumpy and generally horrible. It doesn't work at all. I have medium-length, thin, and sparse lashes and this mascara made them look WORSE. Definitely not recommended.

Eye Primer -Urban Decay - Eyeshadow Primer Potion - Original (UDPP)
rated 5 of 5

Wonderful stuff. It glides on and is silky smooth, and has a really pretty shimmery champagne color which can be used as an eyeshadow on it's own. :) I have never experienced creasing with this and it has incredible staying power.

Styling Products -Clairol - Herbal Essences Tousle Me Softly Mousse
rated 5 of 5
Haruhi13 1/3/2012

LOVE LOVE LOVE. I hate using hair products, but this is amazing! It smells absolutely delicious (a light perfume-y floral that lingers a little while) and it makes my hair super soft. For reference, I have frizzy, fairly thick hair (I can't cut it short- it turns into a cloud) and it's waist-length. It's normally wavy, but the weight of my long hair pullled most of the curl out. This mousse really helps make my hair soft, silky and shiny. I normally apply a small amount through wet hair, scrunch it, and let it air dry. I get really pretty curls/waves that way. :)

Makeup Brushes -Ecotools - Bamboo 6 Piece Brush Set
rated 5 of 5

I love the roll this comes in! I tacked it to my wall for easier access. :) The brushes themselves are nice and soft, and EXTREMELY cheap. I like the fact it's sustainably made of bamboo too.

Lip Treatments -Carmex - LipBalm
rated 1 of 5
Haruhi13 1/1/2012 1:05:00 AM

*Note that I have the tube version* My lips are constantly cracked and peeling. This didn't work AT ALL and both smelled and tasted dreadful. I'll stick with Epicuren until I die.

Lips -Epicuren Discovery - Lip Balm SPF 15
rated 5 of 5
Haruhi13 1/1/2012 1:01:00 AM

I don't know how I'll ever express how much I LOVE this lip balm. Since I was 10, I've had constant, horrible dry and chapped lips that crack, bleed, and peel. I've tried dozens (literally) of lip balms and 'moisturizing' (HA!) glosses. This is the ONLY thing that has ever worked for me. It really does help keep my lips soft and smooth, and I love the eucalyptus/tea tree scent. It's pure gold, and reasonably priced. (It's the same price as a horrible sticky Victoria's Secret Beauty Rush gloss.) The packaging is high quality and tasteful.
