Fragrances -Diesel - Plus Plus Feminine
Glossaholic 4/21/2006 5:32:00 PM
I just received a bottle of this which I purchased at Parfum1 unsniffed. This is a very interesting scent. It starts out kind of spicy, with a bit of citrus, but is mellows to a creamy, smoothe scent that is quite hard to describe. Not exactly vanilla, or floral. Out of the bottle it smells quite masculine, so this is definitely one to try on the skin. A very pretty, different kind of fragrance. Fresh and nice for spring. The packaging is adorable; it comes in a silver milk carton-shaped box, and the edt itself is in a white bottle reminscent of a milk bottle, but looks more like a package of Centrum vitamins! Fun to try.

Fragrances -Ava Aromatics - Vanilla Musk
Glossaholic 2/13/2006 5:05:00 PM
This is a wonderful "skin scent;" the perfect combination of sweet vanilla and soft, clean musk. Very light and airy, but surprisingly has vary good staying power. A great scent for work, as it is subtle and pretty. Wonderful customer service and great products. I highly recommend.

Fragrances -Aquolina - Chocolovers EDT
Glossaholic 2/4/2006 1:44:00 PM
I was going to avoid trying this simply because of the off-putting name. I mean, "Chocolovers?" Couldn't the creative geniuses at Aquolina come up with something better than that? The name "Chocolovers" should be followed by: "Part of a nutritious breakfast. Fortified with 8 vitamins and minerals." Even "CHAWKLIT" would be a better name. Anyway, I was in Sephora yesterday, and the Pink Sugar and Chocolovers was prominently displayed for the upcoming holiday (that being Valentine's Day, of course). So, I sprayed. The initial burst was a bit of chocolate, and a lot of orange. I walked around for a bit, and it began to morph into this strange, unique scent with a note that I couldn't quite place, but seemed oddly familiar. It wasn't until I left and I was having lunch that I knew what it was, since I was eating it on my sandwich. Rosemary!! Yes, the herb. I get a very nice mix of mandarin orange, chocolate, and rosemary. I know this sounds really weird, but it is very appealing. So much so that I will be purchasing a bottle shortly. Staying power is fair (not as good as Pink Sugar, but I did wake up with a slight whiff of it the next a.m.). Lovely bottle, same cylindrical shape as PS, with red hearts (not brown, as they appear on Sephora website). I can't believe I am going to actually wear something that sounds like it should stay crunchy in milk and have a prize in it. I have decided, if asked what I am wearing, (I am not one of those who doesn't "share")that I will say "Aquolina" and leave it at that. Go try it just to see what it does with your chemistry.

Fragrances -Earthen Treasures - Dry Oil Mist Matin Calin
Glossaholic 2/2/2006 6:50:00 PM
I am not a fan of the CSP line--I think they are way overpriced and I hate the aluminum cans. However, I fell in love with the Matin Calin scent (formerly known as Lait Sucre) and purchased a small bottle from ebay. Since the lasting power of this fragrance is not so great, I decided to try a dupe from Earthen Treasures. I ordered the dry oil mist, and a roll-on oil so that the scent would last longer. This stuff is amazing! A dead-on dupe of the original, and scented strongly enough to last. I will definitely try other products from ET. Customer service was great, and the ordered arrived quickly.

Fragrances -Ava Luxe - Vanilla Musk
Glossaholic 2/2/2006 1:15:00 AM
To me, this is the ultimate "your skin but better" scent. It is slightly sweet, warm, and the perfect combination of soft musk and vanilla. My only gripe is that I wish it lasted longer, but I don't care if I have to apply it all day long--it is THAT good. Ava-luxe has a number of wonderful scents to sample, and they break their scents down into fragrance families. Customer service is excellent. Update, 5/6/06: had toupgrade this to a big 5 because I love it so much. I wear it alone and with other fragrances. Lasting power is decent, especially since I requested the EDT to be highly scented. A perfect skin-scent.

Fragrances -Victoria's Secret - Pink Perfume
Glossaholic 1/24/2006 10:36:00 PM
I am not a huge fan of VS fragrances, with the exception of Vanilla Lace which I still adore. That being said, I tried this with an open mind, as I received a sample. It is a light, fresh, cucumber-grapefruit-floral mix that is just a bit cloying. Staying power was incredible on me, much to my dismay. I compare this to Gap's So Pink and LaCoste Touch of Pink, both of which I despise (and it's not just the "pink" in the title. I like Pink Sugar and Mark's Hollywood Pink). Another boring fruity floral. No depth, and just not interesting enough.

Fragrances -Comptoir Sud Pacifique - Matin Calin
Glossaholic 1/21/2006 3:18:00 PM
As much as I love this scent ( a warm, close-to-the-skin sweet milk scent), I have a couple of gripes with the CsP line. First, the staying power is just so-so; why would any company make such delicious scents that are so fleeting? Why doesn't someone correct this? Second, the packaging completely sucks. It is an unattractive aluminum can that looks like deodorant. You can't tell how much you have left. It's ugly. I also feel that the cost of this is too high (this relates directly to gripes one and two). That being said, I still love this scent, but I am going to try some e-tailer "dupes" until I find something similar. **update 2/2/06** The Earthen Treasures dupe of Matin Calin is every bit as good, lasts longer, and is a heck of a lot cheaper.

Fragrances -Floris of London - Malmaison
Glossaholic 1/14/2006 3:29:00 PM
A lovely spicy carnation scent that gets better as it dries down, and lasts (on me, at least) forever. I have not yet tried CdG's version of carnation, but this is a lovely addition to a fragrance wardrobe. Floris of London periodically has 50% off sales (usually in January); even worth it at full price.

Fragrances -Floris of London - Pink Grapefruit
Glossaholic 1/7/2006 8:46:00 PM
This scent is a fresh, true grapefruit. It smells like it was just squeezed from the rind. A little strong when first applied, but it mellows nicely into a fresh and lovely citrus scent. Unlike the other reviewers, I get no sweetness on me, just pure fresh pink grapefruit. Check the Floris of London site; they have 50% off sales in January.

Fragrances -GAP Beauty - scent editions perfume oils
Glossaholic 12/26/2005 6:57:00 PM
I just purchased both the roll-on oils and EDTs in the Vintage Vanilla and Sueded Musk scents. These are really lovely, close to the skin, scents. The musk is soft and pretty, and the vanilla is not foody (it has a bit of incense to it, like a lighter version of Parfum de Nicolai Vanilla Tonka). They were 50% off (oil is regularly $19.50 and EDT is $29.00). Nice soft scents that are inoffensive and great for everyday wear.

Mascara -Max Factor - Lash Perfection
Glossaholic 11/5/2005 7:37:00 PM
I have to agree with Vanillasweet all they way on this one--I much prefer Maybelline's Full & Soft. The brush is okay, nothing to brag about it (I never saw so many people get excited about rubber before!!), and the mascara itself is just average. My lashes were okay, but they did not hold a curl the way they do with Full & Soft. Also, I prefer a brown/black, as it is less harsh. I won't purchase this again, but glad I tried it.

Gels/Soaps -Bath and Body Works - Breathe Comfort High Lather Moisture Wash
Glossaholic 10/24/2005 10:46:00 PM
This is an awesome product. It lathers nicely, is great for shaving legs, and the scent lasts all day. I have never had a body wash scent last longer than it takes to step out of the shower and dry off. I used it this a.m. to shave my legs. I usually follow-up with the EDT, but chose a different one this morning. When changing into my gym clothes at the end of the day, I could still smell the Comfort scent. This one is a keeper, IMHO, so stock up before they discontinue it.

Lip Gloss -Revlon - Super Lustrous Gloss in Spiced Blush LE
Glossaholic 10/17/2005 11:01:00 PM
Lip gloss snobs (and you know who you are) should really try the Superlustrous line. They are wonderful glosses and they are always on sale. I picked up Spiced Blush today at Ulta BOGO. This is a really pretty, soft coppery color with a hint of pink (no orange). Shimmery, but definitely suitable for day-wear. This is a limited edition, as many are, so grab a couple. Once they're gone, they're gone.

This is a lovely, soft vanilla scent (no flowers or caramel here) that has great staying power. Layers with everything, and stands alone. A perfect scent for when you don't want to be scented. Gorgeous!!

Lip Treatments -Smith's Rosebud Salve - Smith's Rosebud Salve
Glossaholic 10/17/2005 9:14:00 PM
I have been meaning to try this product for the longest time, but never remembered to pick it up. I got it free with my latest Beauty Habit purchase. Like it a lot! Yes, it is pink vaseline, but is has a pleasant, delicate rose scent (which I usually don't care for) and gives my lips a soft sheen. I like that it is not "gloppy." Works well on cuticles and elbows, and the tin is quite large for the price. I would re-purchase; it's a nice little luxury.
