Blush -Rock & Republic - Contrived Pressed Blush - Bedroom
rated 5 of 5

So I've been trying to resist these R&R blushes forever and then I finally caved and now I'm on my 3rd blush. I got this at an awesome price but they usually retail for $40.00 but if you keep an eye out you can find these for much much cheaper (wink wink, nudge nudge). At any rate, this is a fantastic blush! The packaging is a tad bulky, but I kinda like it. It has a magnetic closure which I thought would be flimsy, but it's actually kinda nice imo. The quality is quite impressive, right up there with NARS in my book. The pigmentation is amazing, but still very blendable and not chalky. Bedroom is described as a "guava"...whatever that means. On my cheeks I find it to be a rather terracotta-ish rosy/bronzey shade. So beautiful! I love it on my yellow nc30-ish skintone. Absolutely fantastic!

Blush -Stila - Convertible Color Camellia
rated 5 of 5
GPD 8/21/2010 7:30:00 PM

This has to be my favorite Stila convertible color. It's perfect on my NC30-ish yellow skin tone. Dont let the color in the pan scare you away! It looks really brown and orange and muddy but on my cheeks it gives me the perfect, most gorgeous bronzey peachy look with out being orange. It's absolutely gorgeous! Easy to use and blend. I prefer using fingers or a foundation brush for best application. A little goes a long way so while it seems like there's not a lot of product it will last you forever! So while it's retails for $20.00, it's totally worth it! Not to mention the packaging is just absolutely adorable! I love the packaging and the nice little mirror that comes in it.

Lipstick -Jemma Kidd Makeup School - Sheer Vanity Gloss and Glaze - A la Mode
rated 5 of 5
GPD 7/29/2010 4:55:00 PM

I finally brought myself to shell out $16.00 for a lipstick found at Target. The packaging is adorable, though albeit bulky. It's a pretty magenta color with a black floral design. I do like how you hear/feel a click when you close the lid so you know it's closed.

I swatched the other colors on my hand and this one is the best on my nc30-ish skin tone. The other two were a little too pale/cool toned/odd on me. This is a perfect caramel-y peachy nude on my fairly pigmented lips. I love how it's sheer, moisturizing and gives a nice soft sheen to my lips. There is no smell/taste that I can detect which is nice, though I do like my fruity sweet scented lippies though. Overall I'm glad I got it. I just wish it didn't cost so much!!!

Lipstick -Rimmel - Moisture Renew - Rosette
rated 5 of 5
GPD 7/26/2010 6:27:00 PM

After hearing raves about this from a friend, I picked this up. Lemme start with... I really hate the tacky shiny purple packaging. It also has a terrible, but not as horrific as L'oreal l/s, scent. It's a weird mix of sweet/floral with a spritz of sprayable sunscreen. Aside from that I have no complaints! I didn't take any stars away since my complaints are just personal preference type things and nothing's wrong with the actual product and based on the face I definitely would buy more shades.

As for the shade it's a gorgeous rose shade in the tube with fine gold micro shimmers. Once applied it's really only needs 1 swipe for coverage. It doesn't seem like a full coverage thick lipstick, but the coverage is still quite good for being in the "moisturizing" category. On my lips it's a bright pop of rose/pink and is not really sparkly. It's not gritty in texture either which is nice. I definitely do feel my lips are more moisturized as the advert claims. It has decent lasting power for being a moisturizing lipstick as well. Overall I'm very pleased and plan on getting other colors from this line.

Cleansers -Boots - No7 Quick Thinking 4 in 1 Wipes - All Skin Types
rated 5 of 5
GPD 7/24/2010 9:44:00 AM

I've tried a few different cleansing wipes and I must say these are by far the best!!! The MAC wipes were too rough on my skin and didn't get all my makeup off. I tried baby wipes and while it was softer than the MAC wipes, it also didn't get all the makeup off. These boot's wipes are FANTASTIC! The wipe itself is soft and doesn't hurt my skin, and gets ALL my makeup off. (Ok..not all my mascara but most of it.) After wards my skin feels soft and moisturized not dry and tight. Overall I'm very pleased!!! I think it's 35 wipes for around $6 usd at Target. So it's about 0.17 cents per wipe. Not bad! I will definitely be buying this again in the future!

Lip Gloss -Pixi - Lip Booster- Freya
rated 5 of 5
GPD 7/23/2010 6:23:00 PM

Picked this up on whim at Target for $16 usd for 4ml/0.14 fl. oz of product. I really don't fancy the click pen packaging as I always end up clicking too much or too little or it ends up globbing over. But I guess I'll live. The color it self is gorge. In the tube it's a mauve-y rosy tiny hint of brown on my lips it's a very nice my lips but better kinda shade. It's very reminiscent of Chanel giggle only less brown which I like.

It smells faintly sweet. It smells like this candy, but I can't put my finger on what candy. It has no taste and it's not really sticky, but it's not really slick either. It's somewhere in between? Kinda "pleather-y"?? It's very moisturizing and comforting on my lips.

Overall I'm very pleased with this product and will consider buying again if I run out!

Eye Shadow -NARS - Rajasthan Duo
rated 5 of 5
GPD 7/23/2010 10:12:00 AM

This is the first NARS collection in a while I was excited about!!! Rajasthan duo is part of NARS Fall 2010. Retails for $32 usd. As far as I know this is NOT limited edition so never fear! :D

It contains a BEAUTIFUL taupey/nude/champagne and a deep charcoal-d teal/green. IMO this is worth getting for that taupe-y side alone! It is the most beautiful taupe EVER!!! And it's warm toned and perfect on my NC30-ish skin tone. I love how I can play up or play down my eyes with this duo. Both shades are pigmented and easy to blend. Though the darker shade I do find goes on a tad sheer, but is easily build-able. (Remember pat pat pat not swipe your brush to get more product deposited on your lids)

Blush -NARS - Douceur
rated 5 of 5
GPD 7/23/2010 10:06:00 AM

Finally after a forever long wait, NARS FINALLY came out with a new blush color! Douceur is from their fall 2010 collection and retails for $26 usd. It has NARS embossed into the product, but it fades within the first few uses thank goodness! (Imo, it looks kinda tacky). It's a beautiful matte browned pink in the pan and applies similarly on my cheeks. Not too brown, not too pink, and definitely NOT orange. I was worried that it would turn orangey on me the way NARS' other "nude" blushers did (luster, madly, zen, etc).

This is definitely a demure, office safe shade as it's matte and very neutral. It gives a nice natural youthful "glow". It's not a "look everyone! I'm wearing blush" kinda color. It's just very subtle, feminine, and gorgeous. I find it is very pigmented, easily blended, but it's hard to over apply on my NC30 -ish skin tone. Despite the amount that my brush (non-skunk) picks up, I am hard pressed to try to apply too much. So yay for me! I think on fairer skin tones it might be easier to over apply.

Overall I'm very happy with this purchase! It's a lovely nude go to daily drive kinda blush! So hurry and go pick one up! I *think* this is Limited edition as it says on the box, but there is some debate on weather it is or not.

Highlighters -NARS - The Multiple in Copacabana
rated 5 of 5
GPD 7/15/2010 12:20:00 AM

I absolutely ADORE the NARS Multiples! They are so awesome! Yes they are a tad pricy at $38 a pop, but you get a TON of product and you don't need a ton. Originally when I first started using these I would streak then blend and really hated them. Then I learned that it's MUCH better to rub fingers (middle and ring) over the product, then to dot/blend it onto cheeks where I want it. This way it gets the right amount of product on exactly where you want as opposed to the streak and blend which tends to deposit TOO much product and making it hard to work with.

Anyhow, getting to NARS copacabana. This is my perfect highlighter. It's not overly glittery or shimmery. It just gives the right amount of "glow" to my face. It's a gorgeous pearlescent off white pearl. It seems to lean cool yet it work perfectly on my warm yellow NC30-ish skin tone. It seems like it would apply too white, but if applied properly it really does give the most awesome dew-y (yet not oily) glow! Absolute perfect product ever!

Blush -Bobbi Brown - Tawny Powder Blush
rated 5 of 5
GPD 6/22/2010 12:02:00 AM

I got this recently on a whim, and I'm so happy I did. It's my *perfect* natural/nude blush. It's the most natural looking blush I own. It's kinda rosy, kinda pink and a touch brown...but not too much of any one shade. It's absolutely perfect and it doesn't make my already ruddy cheeks overly red looking. The quality is quite lovely as well. It's well pigmented, soft and easily blendable. Oh and it's matte!!! It's wonderfully matte!

Lip Treatments -Unlisted Brand - The Lip Slip- Sara Happ
rated 3 of 5
GPD 6/16/2010 10:42:00 PM

After much lusting...I got this. Talk about a let down. Yes it's very thick and moisturizing..but totally NOT worth that hefty price tag. It retails for $24.00 usd for a 15g/0.5 oz. tub of balm. The packaging is plain and cheap. It's slightly scented with a powdery rose scent. It's not really any better than plain ole aquaphore or vaseline. It's very sticky and thick yet slick. It's nice, but I say save your money.

Fragrances -Coty - Wild Musk
rated 4 of 5
GPD 6/16/2010 4:43:00 PM

I'm so late to this party, but better late than never right? I am a HUGE musk fan!! I have Kiehl's original musk spray and oil. Also, I have the original jovan Musk for Women and while I like it, it was too alcohol-y/hair spray at first spritz so I was a bit hesitant to get Wild musk, but I figured what the hey...for $10.00 why not give it a try. I am soooo glad I got this! It's definitely not animalic or sweaty armpit on me...it's just a very nice grown up powder, slightly sweet, very slightly musky. I find it a little masculine, but that's my thing. While I do like girlie and femenine fumes, some days I'm just not in the mood. This is quite lovely layered or alone. However it has absolutely NO sillage or staying power on me (hence the 1 lippie off). Alas. Oh well, I still love it and it's cheap.

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Sonoma Scent Studio - Tabac Aurea
rated 5 of 5
GPD 6/16/2010 4:38:00 PM

I the small purse spray of this recently scent un-sniffed. It's quite lovely though a bit cloyingly sweet on me. Upon first spray it's very pungent tabacco leaves and cherry cordial to my nose. It then mellows and the sickly sweet cherry cordial fades and lurks in the background. Meanwhile, in the foreground, there is a warm, comforting musky pipe cigar mingled with spice and soft worn leather. This reminds me of this cigar/convenience store that was next to my art school where we'd go and get candy and other random misc. beauty products. The place reeked of cigars and while I HATE the smell of cigarette smoke, I LOVE the smell of cigars/pipe tobacco for some reason...so warm, comforting, cozy and that's exactly what this perfume is. Perfect for winter, a bit too colying (in my opinion) for summer.

Lipstick -Revlon - Matte Lipstick - Pink About It [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
GPD 6/14/2010 4:25:00 PM

I got this along with Strawberry Suede when it was BOGOF. I much prefer this color over strawberry suede on my yellow nc30-ish skintone. This is a bright, but not too bright pink with a dab or rose tones. I find this rather drying, BUT I use it over E.O.S lip balm and it's perfection. The EOS balm is not so slick that the lipstick gets everywhere, but it's moisturizing enough that the l/s doesn't settle into fine lines. Perfect for summer! :D

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Sonoma Scent Studio--Egyptian Musk
rated 5 of 5
GPD 6/12/2010 9:13:00 AM

This is a very well done perfume by SSS. I love finding non-main stream perfumes and SSS is definitely outstanding. The packaging is also very lovely as is the price point. Overall I am very pleased! I am a huge musk lover and this in a nice musk. I didn't quite like Opal..something about it was just, sadly, headache inducing to me so Egyptian musk is a nice alternative. It's very much unlike my favorite musk - Kiehl's original musk...this is much more crisp, green, less sweet and creamy. To me this smells like a gentle spring breeze after the rain - fresh, soft, and refreshing with a hint of sweetness. This is very subtle and stays close to the skin so I would say that this is rather "office safe".
